Got a wierd problem. i am currently running cyangen 4.2.6 on a g1. Ever since i converted to 4.2.3.1 and updated to 426, my g1 will randomly crash and not come back up until i plug it into a charger. It will many crash when i launch any app. I constantly check battery levels and it will do this on a full charge or any level of charge. Is it the battery or the software?

I tried 4 different builds today. formatted my sd card and ran the files. when i get to the lockscreen my phone vibrates and than turns itself off. What am i doing wrong. I tried different roms and radios and its the same result.
it happened to me when i used the extended battery. If you are then that's the cause of your problem.
I have the same issue when connected to my car charger. All Froyo roms seem to have this problem. Weird behaviour, still looking for a solution.
HOw Do I identify it it is a stock battery or extended battery?
what's the diff between these 2?
the extended battery is very thick... the one i have is the official HTC one which is not supported by any kernels currently. The phone shuts off after boot because the battery temp. sensor readings is too high (which in reality is not).
Is that manufactured by HTC or some chinese company?
So android builds wont work with chinese batteries? im starting from scratch and seeing if i can catch the problem
It appears to be an overheating problem, even though my battery temperature is not getting higher than 36 degrees when it crashes.
This issue is not specifically related to Chinese batteries. I have the same problem when connected to my car charger or USB charger and run Google Maps for a while or Daily Voyager (camcorder app). Without a charger, and thus less heat, all works fine.
I tried all radios and still the problems persists. Now I'm going back to MCR r3.1 too see if that solves it. If not, it might be a hardware issue on the board.
EDIT 1: Problem also there in MCR r3.1 (Android 2.1 / Eclair). Further investigating...
EDIT 2: It appears to be an issue with GPS while the device is charging. Whenever I have GPS on and in use by i.e. Google Maps/Navigation or another app like DailyRoads Voyager, it will crash a few minutes later (sometimes within a minute). When I keep GPS disabled there is no problem at all.
Can anyone confirm my experience?
Try starting "clrcad.exe"
Solved the same problem by starting "clrcad.exe" before "haret.exe"
Hello,
Suddenly out of the blue today, my phone seems to be acting weird. When I plug it in to charge, it starts draining battery. Goes up 2-3% and then starts falling back. Any ideas?
It is stock Gingerbread, rooted by one of the methods here, not the pre-rooted rom though.
Also, its been pretty smooth and without error till this morning.
I'm having an issue with my Nexus 7 8GB that my wife primarily uses. We have a IP camera that we use as our baby monitor for our son and we use the app TinyCam Monitor PRO to monitor that all night with the Nexus set up on the nightstand plugged into the factory ASUS charger. Running this app, which keeps the screen on all the time and the WiFi flowing constantly, the Nexus will get shut off in the middle of the night when the battery eventually drains down to 0 - even while its plugged in and charging!
I've installed the latest version of Paranoid Android ROM so that we can fullscreen kid apps for my son to use and not easily escape to the rest of the OS. The "stock" PA kernel that comes with that ROM has this battery drain issue as well as Faux123's latest kernel. Both behave the same way. It did not have this issue running a stock 4.2.2 rooted ROM with a stock Google kernel.
Does anybody have any suggestions on what else to do about this? Obviously, using it as a baby monitor is more critical than being able to full screen select apps but I'd really like to be able to do both and don't see any reason why I logically should not be able to.
Are there any other ROMs I could try that allow the fullscreening of selective apps like Paranoid Android?
Come on people, has anyone ever had this problem before?

oddly enough, i think that has happened to me before (also using oem charger)
it happened when i was running an game that was "eating up" battery faster than what the charger can charge ....... if that made sense
Mine is doing this even with no apps running in the background. I thought it might have been my charger so went an bought a new oem nexus charger but it still drains unless I turn the tablet off to charge. As of now I have the second gen N7 but I still would like to make my original work right.
I've updated to Paranoid Android that's based off Android 4.3 and have tried out Franco's kernel with it. This battery drain is still happening but it's at least tolerable now. My wife will go to bed with the tablet plugged in and charging at 100% and wake up with it around 40%, still plugged in and charging. So at least it does not turn itself off over night. In my case at least it does seem to be software related.
hello guys, i m using latest rom of lollipop and before it i was using RR , in both ROM donno y after some days battery not fully charge some times goes to 70 sometimes 77 , plz help i don't want to go back to stock rom
thnxxx
I've had the same problem. It first started with CM12.1. Reverted back to stock and it was working fine. After a while I noticed that my battery was bulged, so knowing how dangerous Li-ion batteries are, I bought a new battery. But after I got the battery I noticed that the problem still persists. After a while, the battery charges slower and slower, and I went back to a CM12 version, And even stock... same behavior on both. I do not know what the problem is, so I downloaded an app that tracks battery usage, battery charging Amps and a bunch of other things. What I found is that when my battery is empty, and I plug in my charger, the mA flow coming from charging and into the battery is over 800mA... but as the battery charges this value drops. Today, it reached 90% and wouldn't go higher. The Amp flow was somewhere around 70mA to 12mA.
I removed the battery for a few minutes and then put it back in. After putting it back in, the battery status indicated that it was fully charged 100%. I don't know what it's going on. Please help.
That happened to me
And my battery got fatter
I had to replace it
So i really recommend you to stick with Stock
Ot if you really want cm12.1
Charge your phone to 100%
Keep it plugged while installing cm12.1
[TL;DR]
Phone battery suddenly drains faster than usual, drains to 0% overnight. Problem still persist even after April update and after battery change. Can't find any solutions. Help me.
Hey, so about a week ago something very strange happened to my Mi A1 and got worse overtime. So what happened was my battery went from 80+% to 0% overnight. I woke up confused and just recharged it and didn't think too much. After a full charge, I noticed the battery drains abit more than usual and had to plug it in constantly. Before going to bed I charged my phone to 100% to see if it would drain to 0% again. It did. As time passes the problem gets worst. The phone started getting warm when charging (around 40+°C up to 50°C) then after a while the phone runs warm even when not charging (never goes below 40°C). My phone always used to run at about 30-35°C even when charging. I changed the battery myself because there was no warranty on it but it didn't fix the problem. However it did help abit. The battery drains ever so slightly slower now but still drains to 0% overnight. It still runs warm but now it does go below 40°C (rarely). Before and after the battery change, the discharging rate is about 700mA and sometimes reaches 1000+mA (used an app called Ampere, not too sure how accurate it is). The phone was also warmer than usual when charging even when the phone was off (before and after the battery change). I tried factory resetting to see if that does anything but had no luck. I also tried using a Wakelock detector app to see if there was an app excessively triggering a wakelock but all seemed normal. I even tried downloading a "battery calibration app" which obviously didn't work. So I feel like it's a hardware problem.
Now here's what I did and did not do to the phone before the problem happened. What I did was I do charge the phone quite alot most of the time. What I mean by that is when it hits about 30% I'll plug it in but I never leave it plugged in after a full charge or charge it overnight and I seldom let the battery drain to below 10%. Even so, the phone never got warm like how it is now. That's about all I did to it. Now what I didn't do was, I never tried to install custom ROMs or root/modify my phone in anyway except for the post about how to enable 4G+ which didn't work for me.. My phone is completely stock. I also didn't install any new apps from the playstore or from any 3rd party sites nor were there any updates for any apps installed in my phone. I've had the same apps installed for a couple of months before this happened. I also haven't dropped my phone for a couple of months. I only dropped it less than 5 times from short heights and I have a very rugged case on. I also didn't use any 3rd party chargers. I'm still using the charging brick and cable that came with the phone. I have tried using other chargers that are 2A but no luck. So basically I didn't do anything out of the ordinary prior to this problem.
Just some extra information
1. The hottest part of the phone is at the top right corner of the back. I assume the CPU is there (?).
2. It happened before the April update. It was the same before and after the April update.
3. Phone is running on Android Pie if that wasn't clear
4. The phone is only 10 months old
5. My phone is the Global ROM version
6. Performance wise, its still responsive and snappy. Doesn't lag or freeze or anything.
6. I always have mobile data on and use it as hotspot for my laptop at uni. I have been using it like that for the past 9 months. However the problem happened when I was at home during sem break so I was mostly connected to Wi-Fi.
Sorry for such a long post. I hope somewhere out there, there is someone who can help me or other people that have a similar problem so we can fix it.
Thanks.
In the upper right corner, should be the modem area.
Try holding the phone on airplane mode during the night and monitor drain.
Also, try changing the SIM slot and do an APN reset. If this fails too, try changing your SIM card or if u can, try another operator SIM.
If you changed any value with QXDM PRO , try and put back the default values.
Good luck
