Well, in an attempt to be nice my dear and lovely girlfriend decided to wash some of my clothes, but by mistake (I hope) she missed the headset in my hooded sweater and gave it 60 minutes at 60 degrees in a washing machine. Lucky me that I 15 min. in advance took out the HD2 and placed it on the table
The headset seem to still be working, but I've got one question for you guys now:
Does the musicplayer sometimes just go haywire and start to flip around between random music numbers? I used the headset for an hours cardio workout and the HD2 worked fine for 40 minutes, but then went on a random spree in the last part.
Have anyone experienced the same happen to your's HD2?
Best regards Skotten.

Hi,
It never happened to my Shift before but I never travelled with it till now.
I used to use the Shift in UK with no issues but I am on holiday in Rio (38 degrees Celcius right now) and every time I use the Shift it gets very hot to keep it on my lap.
Once, it shut itself down with no warning and I thought it was the battery but it was not. Then I noticed that, while on my lap, the vents were been covered and now I cannot find a position to hold it that is comfortable and does not block the vents. And holding it up in the air for long periods of time is not comfortable (I am very little!) and if I want to use the keyboard I have to use it on a desk or table which makes it not a very mobile option.
I wish designers would think of such things as vent positioning when designing essential parts of equipment. It would save so much grief!
Does it happen to anybody else, or is it just me?
Thanks from very, very hot Rio.
Overheated Shift
Happened to mine for the first time ever, had it on my lap,
airvents probably covered, and kapfiewwww it shuts down
to completely off.
Now I discovered my headphone jack doesn't work, when
I plug in earpieces, the sound shuts down trough the
speakers, but no rerouted sound to the headphones, pull it out,
speakers give normal sound again... strange...
Anybody ever had this?
Kind regards from a snowy Belgium

just happened exactly like woven. luckily it has overheat control
yeah same here just learned to keep it vented most of the time the protective case it comes with dose well with this
My solution!
It happened to me when I tried to use it on a irregular surface like a bed. As everyone has figured out, the ventilation areas are blocked and the device seems to have no alternative but to suddenly shut down... At first, I got surprised but then I eventually found a solution:
Now I simply use it with my proporta leather case, since it has custom designed holes that allow ventilation (and a couple of plastic furniture feet I decided to glue one day), creating enough space between any surface and the actual device...
Another solution if you rather want to hook it to a big monitor and wireless keyboard and mouse, is a glass table and no case...
Ohh by the way, leaving it on inside a bag pack also causes it to overheat, unless it is on WinMo only!!
Try using yr shift sitting on top of a rectangular plastic tray , ( u can get it at any supermarket anywhere , bring yr shift to test it out first before buying ) , the tray's height is about 2 to 3 inches high , it is best using it on yr table , but for lap or bed , then u need some balancing act - cheers - jimmunsw
same problem
Hi,
I have the problem with Newton rings on my HTC Tattoo, which is actually my fifth touchscreen phone, and this is the first time that I see such thing (phone is threated the same way my Toshiba Portege G900 is, but Toshiba didn't get any stains). The phone was carried out like it was baby (not even a scratch or a spot). It's been a hot summer here in Serbia, and after one really hot day (near 40 degrees on Celsius scale) my Tattoo got a Newton ring and became unresponsive, phone acts as it is being pressed on one point all the time. The problem was somehow fixed when I got home from the outside, temperature in my home was much lower. After a few weeks, there was another heat wave and again my cell got him self some nice rings (irony), but this time they lasted for a bit longer. I got it to my network operator from which I got phone. They said that it is physical damage to the screen and block guarantee on device. My phone works even with those rings now, but I am wondering how much time will pass until it became "pressed at one point"... I found on this forum that peoples suggest using duct tape for fixing it, is there some new method or I should get tape sticked to my phone?
To see how the Newton rings look a like you should see these links:

and you should definitely seek for Newton rings on wikipedia.
I should mention that those stains are best visible under fluorescent light.

My problem is that the accelerometer works.....but not always... let me explain
Two days ago I played with my friends with water...... stupidly I forgot my cellphone for five minutes. It took humidity and water. I tried to let it dry alone but the next morning, It didn't want to boot. Someone told me about the trick to put it in rice for a day because rice absorbs humidity. I had nothing to lose so I tried. 24 hours later, I can now boot it. Awesome already! I check if everything works, but the only thing that I noticed is that when I open something like the Settings, or Astro Manager or any other app that doesn't specially require itself the accelerometer, it takes by default the position like if my cellphone was turned at 90 degrees. Otherwise, when I use apps like My Paper Plane or even Google Sky, it still perfectly uses it. So I know it works...... but not always.
Can someone give me a tip?
PS: I tried the Horizontal Calbration in the Settings. It detects the position, but doesn't resolve my problem.
Hi XDA,
Just wrote in to share my experiences with the community here.
Just a few hours ago I dropped my phone from a height of about 1.5 metres or so after ending a call. Then the screen kind of went haywire as part of the screen displayed repetitions of the bottom part of the screen. In a haste to get my phone working again, I followed the steps on YouTube to solve this problem but to no avail. Pulled battery, then put it back in after 5 minutes, no avail. Then, a miracle happened 20 minutes later. The phone managed to "self-heal" itself and my phone was back to normal again! Amazing right? I really did not know how Samsung managed to build such a strong device… Now I'm beginning to like my Copper Gold S5 more now after this ordeal it suffered. Good game, Samsung! Keep up the good work!
Hello, I dropped my Mi A1 in water a couple of days ago, I quickly took it and wiped it down with a cloth and the only problem I noticed were the speakers not working. Like a idiot, I kept using it and the speakers started working somehow but after 1/2 days the screen begun to make me problems, even after leaving the phone in Rice for 2 days in a row. My question is, is it any way to solve it? I will go to a GSM tomorrow but I want to know your opinions too. The screen looks normal for 3 seconds when I unlock it but after that it starts to show a lot of lines and stays like that until I lock it again, it also changes patterns from time to time.
