Oh FFS Really not Happy - HD2 wont turn on - HD2 General

I was copying some music to my storage card in Disk Drive mode.
Finished, ejected the drive, unplugged and the HD2 switched off ... VERY HOT.
wont turn back on. I have tried factory reset but no power whatsoever..
anyone.... HELP PLEASE....
am pretty sure that if I go to vodafone I'll have to wait forever for a replacement...
BAH HUMBUG
GG

Strange, i must admit my hd2 seams to get very hot while connected to the pc, but not while charging with the wall charger?.
Could be a dead battery fuse blown, you may need to try a spare?

Very possibly but I dont have a spare battery!
GG

Huh?
My HTC HD2 never gets too hot.
It only gets warm.
I've transferred 4GB of files (from a backup of my Touch Diamond internal storage) on my MicroSDHC class 6, got 5-6MB/s of speed.
At transfer completed, my HD2 was only warm...
Replace your HD2, it might be faulty!

Thanks for your replies ....
its going back to vodafone.. but i will have to wait a week for more stock for the replacement...
not good.
although I could cancel my voda subscription and go with someone else as i am still in my cancellation period.

MicroSD taken out, Backlight pops on.

Hi guys,
When i take my MicroSD card out of my Herald and Kaiser, The device turns on.
I need to turn it off manually wich i hate to be honest.
Is there any program/development to disable this feature..?
I thought i post this thread here since i think more people have this problem.
Thanks in Advance,
ElProempie
happens on every WM device, it turns on, when u insert and remove ur sd card. Doubt theres a way to stop it without effecting how/when the device recognizes the card...
It only does that since i got my new 8GB microsd card. When i had a 512 MB rolleyes card, it didn't do that..
That's why i made a thread about this.
I never knew this was a problem. So it might be a problem with "Some" people!
I've not heard of anything that would stop this from happening. Doesn't it act like Plug and Play devices for PC? Like when I plug in my memory card reader, the PC wakes up...
You mean automatic playback on XP..?
Yeah i know but i use my Herald now on holiday as a photocamera, So i need to swap between phone and PC.
And my battery isn't that good anymore, i want to switch this off so i can use my battery much longer.
buy a new memory card
A new one again.. I allready have a new 8GB MicroSDHC card
Those things arent cheap here..
yeh, my hermes does this samething with any microcard...
Don't take it out...
I hot glued mine in place. A little bit of hot glue then a hair dryer to smooth it out nice and pretty. Hot glue works great and can easily be removed with out hurting anything. I have most all my addon programs installed there so taking out my sd causes problems. Not to mention all email sync'd from my exchange sync. I had a couple 1GB cards go bad after being removed at inoportune times. I just use my active sync and USB cable to write to it. My 2GB card has been in the phone for about a year now with no problems. I only take it out to flash the phone, and then only when it's powered down.

Something bricked my phone.

My phone, which I've had since waiting in line on March 24th quit on me today. I'm not sure if it was the culprit but, I installed a program called Lookout mobile security last night 5/6. When I started the phone this morning put it on the table, got some java and when I got back nothing..no buttons working...ok..no problem tried a soft reset...nothing..ok now starting to get worried. pluged into power source..boot up screen. whew..low battery. then blank, a few seconds..boot up screen AGAIN!..by now I'm in full freakout...Attempted to calm down.. didn't work..thought ok..most everything is backed up..lets do a hard reset..didn't WANT to but anyway! Did the hard reset .. Still had the same problem...Had to pinch myself HARD to make sure this wasn't a nightmare. Went to the TMobile store and the associate put me in touch with technical support (they were Super) Going to give me a new phone but, have to wait until next Friday to get it...and then tweaking and rebuilding it to what I want...I should have been ready for this coming from an iphone...All it takes is one $%@# program again, not saying it was the one mentioned above but, one with a malicious code or something that destroyed over five weeks of building a phone from scratch. Sorry about the rant... I still LOVE this phone. .
so you couldn't even boot it in to the bootloader? wow! Maybe you should flash HardSPL before trying to install that program again as there is far less chance of bricking it if you have HardSPL installed. Even if the rom gets completely stuffed, you can still boot it and reflash from SD.
All I can recommend is install a ROM via Micro SD card and maybe doing a Task 29 before you reinstall a ROM

If those don't work then I don't know what else to recommend
They want my old phone back once I get the new one so, I'm going
to let them have it just as I turned it on yesterday. Let them
find out what the problem was created by.
I was about to install that "lookout" software...but after reading this I might as well hold on.
did you leave it on the charger overnight or did you just turn on your phone in the morning.
if you didnt have it charge all night, maybe all you needed to do was leave it on the charger a little longer before starting it back on.
i noticed that some phones with a dead battery and on the charger will sometimes not stay on until it has gotten a minimum charge on the battery.

Setting up the new phone shouldn't be a big deal if you did actually backup; just stick the old microSD in the new phone and run whatever backup app you had on the card.
I put it on the power supply and it is in the constant loop of
the first screen that appears. I am going to seriously look into
HardSPL. Thanks to all the good input from everybody.
Well now even customer service is at a loss. They cannot phantom why why two separate phones have the same problem. While I had CS on the phone we went thru various senario's to try to get the phone to operate properly. I even had them give me a new SIM card and that did not work...I suggested the problem might be the battery as it could have gone bad. You guys think the phone is playing hard to get--try to find a replacement battery! No stores within a 20 mile radius had one in stock....! Needless to say they are going to ship me yet another phone. plus a new battery and hopefully it will take care of the problem. The sales associate did a hard reset on both my old and the new phone without results so that unfortnately is not a viable solution. Now I am in the game I hate the most........The waiting one! ..

^^ what the op says above. This happened to me (and my gf as well) on our HD2s. The first time (mines) this happened, i hooked it up onto my car charger and immediately tried to turn it on.. it would go onto the TMO screen, but quickly shut down and loop. After realizing I may be trying to jump the step, I unhooked it from the charger, took the battery off, put it back on, hooked it back onto the charger and let it sit for about 10-20 minutes charging. Turned it back on and viola! It wasn't a brick.. I can almost guarantee this is your problem.
But I may be wrong lol...
So, now after 2 replacement phone sent to me, I find out that
it was the battery all along. Problem is that after the second phone
arrived and I had the same problem I called customer service and
explained it to them....They said a battery would be sent next day
air...Ok...called the next day and was told that the rep never sent
in the order...Long story short....I've almost been without my phone
for two weeks now and, all I need is a frelling battery.
Problem is there are NONE around me..I've tried every tm store in
the area, All radio shacks batteries plus...you name it....
I am being sent a battery UPS ground...could take 7 more days.
Just took the battery from my fiance's phone and it works
so, right now I would pay a ransom for a battery just to have my
phone back!
I had to do a hard reset after downloading that lookout trial.
at this point I don't know what caused it..Has anyone ever heard
of an application causing the battery to go bad?...I worked really
hard to keep the battery I had in good condition.. I hope UPS
delivers soon!
This is odd I have used Lookout Mobile on my phone since I had it. Mind you not had it for long, since April but still its never bricked or did anything that hindered the phone. I maybe another program.

Hello, and welcome to XDA.
Just to clarify you have an HD2 correct? If so, have you installed anything....an application or modification or anything to customize or personalize?

Try this first, hold both volume keys, and the red power button, then reset the phone, if that doesn't work, then your phone is dead, sorry
Keyword there, "SUPPOSED" to be new, many times, people break their phones with a program that wasn't meant for it, and they put it on eBay. You get those kinds of people on there. Sounds like you need to file a claim on PP if you still can, file a complaint, because you just bought a broken phone.
Only way to make sure it is "NEW" is to buy a BNIB one, buying a new or used one is a hit or miss if the guy before you messed it up or not.
check the battery connection pins and make sure none of them are bent. There's 5 of them, and they should all be even in a row, like this: ll l ll
I have done the hard reset and the soft reset.
If i do get inside the phone it would work for 20 30 min and then goes off
to re open it i have to take the batt out for at least 5 min and then retry again.
I have contacted the seller and he said to give it to the lab and he will refund me on whatever it costs.
sigh
Before you take it to a lab, check those battery pins. Make sure they are straight. Easy. Next, try it without the micro SD card in it. See if it works. If it does then it's a crappy micro SD card. If it still freezes, do a hard reset. After a hard reset if it still freezes Then get a replacement. Did it look like it was in a sealed box? Even if it was, the seller needs to take it back unless it had a no returns mention on the auction.
Its a faulty unit. Had the exact same thing happen to me with my launch model. T-Mobile replaced it for me free of charge. In your case contact pp as you just got screwed
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
the problem its the sd card boot ur phone w/o sd card and it will boot as it is lol save all the data of the sd card and reformat it. it happened to me...
Are u able to solve this problem...
I am also facing the same problem.... I tried even installing custom ROM etc... still the same.
It start if i disconnect the battery for 10 min and try again.... But it can crash any time..
i would suggest returning it asap if possible.
I had this problem happen towards what has to be the end of the life of my hd2. It would freeze there until you took the battery out and hoped it booted.
Later mine wouldn't boot and all and is now basically a 600 dollar vibrator since all it does is vibrate till the battery dies.

Focus battery issue

Sorry if this has been addressed, but I haven't seen it anywhere.
Got my Focus just under two weeks ago. Added an SD card, no issues before nor after the SD "fix."Starting yesterday my phone started randomly turning off. NOT resetting, as no data was lost, and it turned right back on.
I'm fairly certain its due to minor jarring, and is therefore a battery connection issue. I'm going to go ask for a new battery at the ATT store and try that before asking for a whole new phone.
I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this. Also, if I got a new Focus, can it reformat my SD card, or is it locked to the specific phone?
Thanks guys.
its your sd card.... even though there is no data lost the turning off and back on is it rebooting ... you need to try a card thats been working.... there is a nice list on here or just buy a samsung one..
you can try a format and try the card again but theres a good chance it will happen again...btw what sd is it?
16 GB Sandisk, class 4. It doesn't turn back on on its own, though. I manually turn it back on. Kind of like if I did a battery pull, it would shut off and I'd have to manually turn it on.
Pull the card, leave it out and format... If the condition continues then its the phone, but I'm betting it will work fine.. Here's to hoping. It is strange but certain sd cards give this phone fits... the format is power off. Press n hold vol down, camera, and then power. Keep all pressed till you see the format screen pop up... Hope this helps...
Well, I put in one of those Samsung cards in from that ebay seller, and next day got a similar turn off, so I'm gonna say it's the phone.
If I switch it out in-store, can another Focus reformat the card, or am I gonna have to borrow one of their Nokias?
Your Focus randomly shuts down or reboot?
Captivate had random shutdown issue, wish it's not on Focus.

Shuts down, have to manually turn on. No loss of data.
And I've reproduced it by setting it down on a hard surface multiple times, so bumps seem to be jarring something.
when you get your new phone just plug in the sd card and do the format.... it will set the card up in that phone.

LOL I found this out after I was told ATT doesn't even sell Symbian phones. Good to know.
So did exchanging the phone solve your problem? I have 16gb SD card (sandisk class 2) it was working fine for the first two month, but last month the phone start to randomly reset about once a day. I took out the sdcard and battery reseated them both (not resetting data) and it seems to work fine for about 2 weeks (may be one random reboot once) but last few days the phone would reboot everytime I set it down on hard surface. It doesn't do it all the time but do it enough to be annoying.
I really don't want to exchange the phone unless I have to.

If by reboot you mean it just turns off, then that's what I was experiencing. I changed SD cards and it came back the next day.
I just switched phones today and haven't seen it yet, but I'll get back to ya in a week. Switching phones wasnt too big of a hassle for me, though, so you might just try that now while you're in your 30 days.
If it keeps happening, I don't know what phone I'll switch to. Shouldn't have jumped on that Zune 12 mo pass just yet.

[Q] I9505 overheats drasticly

Well I've got an overheating problem...
The trouble began yesterday. I've waited for something and played just a little Rayman fiesta run. Phone got warm, but nothing to wonder since it was game.. Well it didn't get cold again. While it was warm i wanted to charge it because i've only had 20% Battery left. After an hour or something it was still warm and it only charged a litte. I turned it of to charge it again.
Well after a couple of hours - I played a game on the PC - it was still turned of but still hot. after turning on it had 59%, and it should have been full after that time.
I've tried a full Wipe, but it changed nothing. Still the same problem.
Edit: Installed a newer Version. Uhm Well it's like before, everthing works just fine except the great heat that is produced....
If the backcover is removed, the MIcroSD slot is getting so hot that it really hurts your finger if you touch it. This huge heat will start right after starting. At the Galaxy S4 start screen it's getting as hot as if I played for a while.
An App told me, that the CPU Temeperature is something between 70 and 80 Degrees (Celius). Shouldn't be that hot after doing nothing... And the Battery Current was also high as ****. changing between 500 to 1000 milli Amps. WTF? But I don't know how much I can trust that App.
My Phone is routed and Cyanogenmod 12 is installed. Right now I'm downloading the newest Version to see if the phone is working after that. But I highly doubt it since it's overheating direcly after pressing the start button and the same Nightly run perfectly stable for 2 Month or something....
Anyone knows how to fix that? Or is the phone (almost) dead?
Try cleaning your usb port. It's possible that some dust or something else makes a connection between the connectors.
It can also be an app running in the background. You can check in battery stats.
Ok the USB Port wasn't the solution, but uhm it was still nice to clean it because it was dirty as hell.
But i guess i found the solution. The god damned MicroSD card is quite... dead... I guess... Well my smartphone can't read the data, it doesen't get that hot if the card isn't plugged in and if i put the damned card in another phone, right after boot it's getting hot, too. So I guess the card is F**ked.
Damned, I don't have the bill of the SD card anyomer... crap. _All_ my smartphone data is lost. But at least the phone seems to work. I really don't have the money to buy a new one

Try formatting it. Sometimes that helps. Glad you sorted it out though
Nope. That card seems to be dead.
If I remove it from the phone, the Phone realizes it, that the SD Card was removed. But If it is inside I can't acces it from wich app i ever try. TWRP hasn't got acces, too. I guess all my stuff on there is now lost forewer... I should finally buy the titanium Backup pro app with cloud synchronisation.......
The SD Slot however is fine. Tried an old 2GB Card. works fine.
