Sync Problem; need a fast help and solution - HD2 General

When we set up the active sync on windows vista, the programm creates a shortcut to a folder named "My dox on HTC2". This folder on the phone is resident in the main memory. And this is not good
I'd like to have all my 2GB files (excel, word, Acrobat, power point) and my 7GB Musics and movies to automatically sync in the 16 GB SD Card bought for this simple reason.
How to setup the programm to move and sync the files in the SD including all the messages, notes, contacts and bla bla bla.
I don't know why but with my old Nokia E71 I needed to check a box to sync the files in the sd card.

Need to set up a Sync with a Storage Card directory

I want ot sync a directory on my stoarage (Music) with my computer. WMP wont work with what I am trying to do. How do you change where activesync syncs to when you select the files category
Mobsync
I went nuts last night trying to find a way to install/sync files to my storage card like I did with my palm Treo 650. It appears that activesync does not do this at all. On pocketpcfreewares.com I found a program that can keep any directory main storage or card in syn with a directory on the pc. It works well but it occasionally fails to notice the device is connected. Read the instructions before using. All I know is that now I can sync my ebooks and my Plucker/VadeMecum/Sunrise RSS feeds without having to move it manually.

ActiveSync and My Documents on Storage Card

I've just added a 2GB storage card and moved My Documents to it. How can I configure ActiveSync to sync it with a folder on my PC?
all it appears to do is create a new My Documents on the phone
I did experiment with this for a while
SK tools allows you to specify where you want the my documents folder I think?
There is also a reg hack somewhere ( which is what sk toold does for you AFAIK)
I managed to move my Documents onto the storage card ok but outlook will only sync notes when in the main system memory.
Mighty sync and easy sync will also give you more contorl over the limited sync options available in active sync
THere's a nice little tool called MobSync than can sync any folder on the PC with any folder on the PPC (Storage Card included) - last time I looked it was free.

Alternatively if you use SOTI Pocket Controller, you can sync folders also.
Cheers
Dave
thanks, i'll give these a go
MobSync is ideal. Simple PC install, simple setup (PC folders and Device folders) and then it just syncs (manual or scheduled)
look for "Ver1.0.8 Japanese & English "button amongst the Japanese script - about halfway down on the right.

Change the sync location of My Files in activesync to use storage card

I threw a few music files in the MY PDA folder under My Documents on my PC and expected them to sync accross to my Vario II. After connecting the phone it sent a couple across then I got a warning on the phone that 'Storage Memory is Critically Low'. Obviously the files had been synced onto the phone. Thought you would be able to specify to sync onto the phone storage card but there is no option for this anywhere.
Anyone know a way to do this?
if you set up the sync option for media player in active sync and then set up the playslists you want to sync in media player on your pc it will automatically set up the folders on your card and transfer the files. it does warn not to drag and drop onto the card of you want the sync process to work.
Cheers cdyat, but this was more of a test. For instance, what if I want to sync 30Mb of Office files with my phone. It would appear that I can't just put these in the My PDA Sync folder to be copied next time I connect, but I have to cut and paste from the relevant folders.
This to me seems ridiculous but I can't see an option to change the location to sync with the storage card anywhere.
You can only sync files, be default, into main memory. There are two 3rd party apps available (Sorry can't remember the names) that will allow you to Sync anything to anywhere. One is commercial and the other is a Japenglish conversion. Try searching these forums for links.
I am all for searching, but if anyone comes up with a name for those two apps, please post =)
As another user recently posted in this forum, Pocket Controller has a Sync Manager that can be used to synchronize files and folders to any location, including storage cards.
Pocket Controller sounds very nice but $35 is quite a lot just to enable me to sync a folder to my storage card.
I had assumed there must be a registry setting somewhere on the PC that would change the default path?
Try these

YMMV, but have a nice day...
Cheers Daniel, Mobsync looks like it might do the trick.
Acid Sync - Sync Computer Folder to SD Card\Folder
A guy I know is working on a program to do this with a much easier configuration since it just syncs Desktop folder to Storage Card folder. Pretty simple really, copy mp3 or whatever to desktop folder and it will sync to PPC folder and viceversa. Still in beta though

WMP12 + WM6.5 = No Media Sync ?

I have a big problem with my Trinity...
I've flashed it with a WM6.5 ROM (dont remember which, just that the rar is named WM_06.5.21857.rar) and I'm an active user of the sync features, both ActiveSync and the sync in Windows Media Player.
The problem is when I try to sync music to it through WMP12 (I've got Windows Se7en) it transfers a couple of the songs and then stops. No error message or anything... And there is plenty of space left for the music on the miniSD...
And I cant transfer the files manually as I've made an automatic playlist with a couple of rules and a 200mb limit, so I never have the same music on the phone...
Has anyone of you had this problem before and how did you solve it?
Cant find any information about it anywhere on the net (spent the last 3 hours googleing for a solution)...
All help is appreciated!

same problem here - use WM5Storage as workaround
I experienced the same problem.
Now I use WM5 Storage on my phone to map the microSD card directly to my PC (as if it was in a card reader), instead of via Windows Mobile Device Centre.
With this set-up the sync is much faster and does not stop after a couple of songs.
Thanks! Never thought of that :O
Will try that to se if it works smoother
EDIT! Just noticed that WM5 Storage wasn't in this ROM, but will try Card Export
EDITEDIT! It worked VERY well using Card Export
Music folder structure on SD card
Do you also have your music synced into the microSD/Music folder?
In my case I can either tell WMP12 to not set up any folder structure, I which case all my mp3s get simply dumped in the microSD root.
Alternatively, I can have WMP to create a folder structure, in which case I end up with getting Music/Artist name/Album name, which is more than useless.
I'd prefer Music/Album name.
ANybody knows how to get this?

[Q] How to Syncronise files on MicroSD?

Dear friends, as per the title, I'm wondering if there is a trick to syncronise files and pictures stored on the external memory.
With ActiveSync, if you choose the option "files", it creates a new folder on the PC named HTC_HD2 My Documents but there is no way to place in any shortcut to anything on the MicroSd...
Of course I do know that I can copy and paste anything I want but, I'm missing a little the old Symbian Syncro...
I have been looking for this too but haven't found a solution yet.
You can use Sync Toy from microsoft, it's free and you can sync your sd card.
Sync Toy
Easy Sync is the best for me
You can sync files/folders in every place you want (device/memory)
you can sync/copy to/copy from
try it
bye
