Auto backlight always to bright? (mod?) - Touch HD General

hi guys,
the auto backlight feature of the HD is quite nice, but one thing really annoying me:
if you are in a dark room the backlight is still to bright. i mean, theres no light around but it is still on propably 50% brightness.
is there a way to fix/change it somehome? maybe some registry settings with min and max value for brightness used by auto backlight?
or to calibrate my sensor? saying normal room light = 50%, outside = 100%, room in the evening with only tv on = 0%?
maybe somebody else solved it already, board search didn't gave me usefull topics.
thanks in advance,
guro

How to decrease backlight while keeping auto adjust?

Hi!
I wonder if there is a way to lower the backlight levels on auto adjust (or increase for those who think its still not bright enough). Point is I think having the backlight on generally lower levels will naturally increase battery life. I know I can change the the brightness to a fixed level that suits me - but that would just be right for the current situation. I still want it to adjust to different lighting situations. Ideas?
It would be nice if it was possible to change how dim the backlight gets on total darkness and how bright it gets on your average sunny day.
I've been messing around with the reg to see if I could find max and min values but I can only change manual settings, not auto mode using the light sensor.
One note though: The sensor itself uses battery to measure ambient light. That being said, if you spend most of the day under a constant light source (say an office) manually dimming the device should consume less energy since the sensor is not doing much good for you anyway.
I guess it's not your case. I had this app on my Cruise to change backlight intensity. never used until now. it works on leo (running 1.48 but that should not matter) and changes backlight in 25% increments. You can copy a shortcut to the startmenu and add a quick link to your home tab or map it to a hard or soft button somehow.
I wold really like to know how to change max and min levels on auto backlight.
Try Lumos - it's a backlight replacement that allows you to customise how you want your auto backlight to work, ie. what the minimum/maximum brightness is, how fast the backlight changes, etc.

Seems to work fine. Still some tunning to do. Thanks!
I'm using Lumos now and it works great! Simple to set up and easy to customize. Thanks for the hint!
lumos is great but I found it was draining the battery quite fast on the leo.
Admittedly I was using it with the wm6.5 Check for active programme only setting. I never tested it to see if it worked without checking that box.
As far as I can tell by now the batterylife appears to be rather better than before. I haven't put in any application exceptions and didn't check the one checkbox in the settings tab. I also use a custom curve where the backlight stays at 30% until the sensor hits about 400 (30% is plenty in my opinion and still brighter than my friend's iphone in normal light condition inside).
you should try AutoLight http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=548402
it works fine on Leo

Display light %

I want to ask you something. On direct sunlight the display light is not enough, when I manually set it to 100% the display is much more bright and everything is ok, but when is AUTO, it wont go to maximum never! I'm asking is there any tweak for this, or anyone who knows how, to be kind to make something about this.
Hey - there's a couple of programs that can manage the light sensor instead of the default built in one.
First i used lumos however i found it wasn't that customisable. Yesterday i found a program called AutoLight which works by adjusting a graph to how you want the backlight to change according to the ambient light. Works really well so far!
Just search for them on here and they'll come up.

Screen brightness goes down automaticaly.

Hi,
Everytime my battery goes down 15%, my screen brightness goes to almost 0.
I cant see any setting to change this.
I dont have any app to do that.
Currently rba023 rooted.
Thank you
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
If there's a way to change it I would like to know as well. It's very hard to see for that last 15%.
Wish I could help.
The last 15% would last no time if it was at normal brightness. It's designed for, you know, if you need to use it in an emergency ;-)
To get your brightness back go to the sound and display setting and click brightness. It returns it to full brightness. When your battery drops to 10% and 5% it will do the same.
As far as I'm aware there isn't a proper solution to this.
My issue with the brightness is the "auto brightness" function seems backwards to me.
E.g. if I am in direct sunlight, auto brightness turns the brightness of the screen way down, which means I can hardly see it. If anything the brightness should be turned UP.
If I am in a dark room, auto brightness turns the brightness up, when really, turning it down would be better as it doesn't need to be as bright in a dark room. So it should be turned DOWN automatically.
It's arse-over-tit, as we say.
Yes,
But now with root, i'm sure anyone with the right knowledge can modify this 'stock setting' ! ...
Anyone to try it?
Cheers!

Hi mine seems fine.. Yours however does, as you say, seem arse over tit.

This doesn't really fix the query but for fast access to adjust the brightness I use an app called QuickSettings which I have on my front screen to give quick access to some basic settings. On the brightness adjuster you have to have the phone settings not on automatically adjust.

Auto or manual brightness..that is the question

I have been experimenting with brightness on my sgs and how it relates to battery life. So should I keep the brightness on auto or the lowest?
I have noticed that when my brightness is set on lowest, the phone will sometime turn the brightness up a lot for no reason. I think it should be on auto brightness.
Ideas?
on the notification bar up there if you sweep it left our right it'll adjust the brightness too, just found that or. pretty damned annoying.
my brightness is on it's lowest always, unless I need to see in the sun.

Yeah.. In Froyo they don't have that "feature" (hopefully they don't enable it either).
I keep my light down to minimum too. I've had no probs looking at the screen here, but then again, it is winter and I am an evening person..
I'd say lowest setting is the best, the screen isn't difficult to see even at it's lowest. brightest just makes everything look more vibrant and awesome. you can have a separate brightness setting for the browser too.
i set mine to manual
the auto doesn't work well, i like it bright, and in auto mode, it is not bright enough for me

You are right. If you have your brightness set to Manual, you can adjust brightness by sliding left or right on the notification bar at the top.
It's a problem because you can by accident set it to high and therefore drain your battery fast.
I have setup Tasker to set brightness to 40 once every hour. 40 is about 16% of full brightness.

[Q] i9505 Screen Brightness Strange

Hey all,
I've searched and searched and got nowhere - so though I'd ask the question.
Simply put :
My GS4, on maximum brightness, almost acts like an auto-brightness setting. I've disabled every automatic screen control I can find.
To explain as clearly as possible, it'll go at maximum brightness for some time, then reduce the screen brightness by (at a guess) 20% and stay that way. The actual brightness setting doesn't change, just the output brightness of the screen.
It's across ROMs too, which leads more confusion to it.
Anyone got any idea?
Cheers
