I've a problem with my htc touch, it doesn't won't to start !

any idea what is that ? or how can i flash another rom ?
*it's fully charged
*my rom is Touch_of HD lite 3.0
Thanks
Hi,
Did you flash a new rom or something recently? How old is your battery? If possible....try changing the battery and giving it another shot.
it's a new battery about 2 months or something
yes this is a new rom i flashed it yesterday !
Thanks for your quick response

Hmmm...there you go. That seems to be the problem. Perhaps you'd want to go back to the thread from where you downloaded the rom and check to see if anyone else has had similar problems on their device. Or maybe try to get in touch with the person that cooked it. You can PM them or something. I'm sorry but beyond this....I cant tell you what to do....I've never flashed a rom on my device. Still learning Perhaps someone else on this forum can guide you.
Good Luck
Thank you but i don't think the rom is the problem,
I entered the boot loader and tried flashing 2 different roms and the same thing happens right before the HTC welcome screen "the animated picture where HTC logo appears" the device turns of !
so what is that !!!!
any help please
mine like the fridge!
For troubleshooting, try to cool it in the fridge for some minutes before you turn it on. If this helps, then I have no idea what causes the fault! But you are one step closer by knowing if its a hw or sw issue

I tried what you said but didn't work too !
I think it might be the RAM or something .. what do you think ?
could be
I've red somewhere that its a RISC controller in the Elf. If so; it contains a RAM itself. So even tough I'm not a specialist on this things I belive that it could be a internal fault in the RISC or the multiplexer to the external RAM or the RAM itself. These things are all a motherboard issue that needs a replacement - in other words a new phone!
If its a SW problem it should work fine with the orignial ROM. On this field I shall keep my mouth shutt 'cus I know nothing about phone/smartphones!! I do think you should make it to the bootleg whit any ROM.. I belive!
have you tried to hard reset
1) Simultaneous press and hold "Power" and "Camera" key.
2) Press "Reset" once with the stylus and then release all keys.
Yes I've tried hard reseting !

Have you tried flashing one of the original roms onto your device? If not....give that shot. You'll find a list of all original shipped roms on the wiki.
I'm not sure
If the mailfunction started after you ROM-flashing "upgrade", then its more likely that its the software. But I know nothing about software on this things or what the symptom may be if theres a missmatch on the phone configuration/model and ROM.
guys I've tried everything even original roms
I think i've to change the board !
Thank you all

Flash with ORIGINAL OFFICIAL RELEASED ROM for Artemis,
and see if same problem exists or not?
Good Luck
hello, thanks, but i have tested and it's not ok,
same problem
Replace the battery.
Have this same problem some time ago then I replace the battery with a new one and the problem is solved.
Could you solve the problem with a new battery?
kon
Did new battery fix the problem?
For me it did not solve the problem. Unfortunately.
I had the same problem. Everything I did not solved the white screen and freeze. Finally I dismantled the phone ( Look wiki how to dismantle ) and cleaned with a circuit cleaner. Now since 3 months no white screen or freeze.
If you carry your phone in your jean pocket, the oxidation can be the cause.
Good Luck

A Sad Day!!

Hi Folks,
My Mighty Legendary HD2 has effectively died!!!
The keypad buttons have stopped working and I don't know it it's a problem on the main board or with the keypad flexiboard.
Anyone any thoughts ideas?
Eriu
With battery out connect it to charger, insert battery(check pins to be OK) and it should start even without buttons...
If possible check battery to not be dead!

Hey thanks, I tried that and it does boot when power connected the problem is turning it on without charger and then in OS controlling UI. Thankfully two buttons still work (win & green keys) so in wp I remapped them to 'back' and 'power'. I tried a different screen assembly (different keypad and screen) and still had the same problems, so the fault must be in the main board?
Any ideas anyone would be greatly appreciated??

It seems like that, but it's quite odd: you should try, if possible, with another mainboard and see what happens...
It could be a ROM related issue, maybe?

You're saying what?
I dont think its a ROM issue because its the same in both WP and Android - was thinking maybe it was an SPL related issue but flashed the 2.08 spl and had same problem so reflashed 2.08 hspl. Anyway I think there must be some damage I can't see done to the main board (since I examined it with magnifying glass etc...)
Sorry to hear...
Nothing last forever dude..sorry fr your lost =(
Sorry i felt it as big fan of hd2 using it for 3yrs it serve me well best things ever
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Cheers for kind words all as it happens my HD2 still lives as I still have 2 working keys so can be remaped in both wp & Android so all not lost

[Q] Dead HTC HD2 (Why? Don't know - explanation inside)

Hi
I was playing an android game, can't remember wich one, when suddenly my HTC HD2 turned unresponsive (bloqued), so I removed the battery and powered it on again. When I did this, the bootloader opened but it seemed bloqued too, no android message, no bootloader opening, anything... And once again, I turned it off and powered on but now without any response, completly dead (Only a small vibration, diferent to the one when it power on. [equal like the one previous to the boot one, I don't know how to explain])... No charge led, no bootloader, no tricolor, but without any flash or something similar (Like most posts I have read)
Anyone knows how to fix it?
My htc is a HTC HD7 T-Mobile with MAGLDR (last version) and android 4.0.4 completly working before this
Thank you!
You mean you have an HD2 with MAGLDR, WP on NAND and ICS on SD, right?
First thing to check is the battery pins, easily bent after a battery pull. Make sure they are straight and make contact with the battery. Second thing, are you sure the battery has enough juice? It could be just an unfortunately-timed run out of juice.
If above is all checked, was the phone running hot (like .. HOT) prior to the freezing?
Thanks

Thanks for your answer!
Not sure of the battery juice, I will try to charge it with a broken USB, directly with the cable or with another battery.
Pins seems to be OK, but I don't know. When the phone turned off I was only playing a 2D game ,for no more than five minutes, so I don't belive that it might be hot.
Some unsuccessful attempts
Okey, i tried to charge the battery with the usb but it does not work, so I tried to boot the phone using directly a 3.5 batery (similar to the 3.7 Output of the battery) and it does not work too... The mobile is completly unresponsive, the same vibration in the begining but nothing later..
Thank you!

Well, this is weird. ................. I recall seeing a similar problem somewhere around here, but I don't know if it was fixed or not. Even if it were, I don't know how we're supposed to look for it.
You can try some basic stuff like :
- Changing the battery *try to use an HD2 one*
- Try removing the battery, sim and sd card. Leave them out for a few units time and put in the battery back and try it again.
You can try your luck and search the hd2 (you can use the link in my sig) fora with potential keywords..
.. I can't think of anything else ... I'm sorry.
More of it sounds like BGA failure. Did your phone got hot while playing games?
Also what settings on CPU were set?(freq and voltage)

I have already asked him about that and he said "When the phone turned off I was only playing a 2D game ,for no more than five minutes, so I don't belive that it might be hot."
One more thing you can try, put the device in a sealed bag and put it in the freezer for about ten minutes. Then try to boot it up into bootloader (boot up while holding volume down). If it boots, then it's 99% the infamous overheating issue.
Report back.

It is widely known that putting an HD2 with a faulty mainboard in a freezer for a few minutes will make it more likely to boot up (before it freezes or restarts again).
I don't know *why* this happens, I just know that it does. If you are not convinced, please do your own research
I do know how does BGA fail, and putting your phone in freezer WON'T do any good. It can only worsen the fate of phone, further damaging board or battery.
With all respect, don't give advice if you don't know what are you doing.
Anyway.
If you got warranty - RMA
If not, get infrared soldering station or look for one. Resoldering BGA(ball grid array-micro soldering points) on motherboard could help - CPU BGA tend to get loose sometimes. It's just the way it was designed.
Otherwise, if failed, replace mainboard.
That's it.

How can you be so sure it is faulty BGA as to start saying use this and use that?
I did not say the freezer will fix the problem, I just said it will help us identify it!
And to reply to the "won't do any good", here are two examples OF MANY:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35436222&postcount=3113
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35430928&postcount=3112
@op An advice: don't do any of the IR soldering mentioned above or even open the device until you are certain it's the mainboard.

Because that's the symptoms of faulty BGA. System stop. Different vibration pattern and bootloader lockout. If memory failed, it's on motherboard. If CPU failed it's also on motherboard.

How in the world does freezing help identify motherboard fault? It's just nonsense.
Freezer trick can help identify BGA contact issues as the cooler temp contracts the CPU & can temporary cause the the solder points of the ball grid to contact and also keeps it cooler for longer sometimes allowing for longer run time or boot progress.
You are not freezing the device to -20 just simply quickly getting the device cool.
Done it myself to more than one hd2 & is a useful diagnostic prior to buying & swapping a mainboard or getting a current one reworked.
Okey, I tried again and nothing happened. I will call to HTC tomorrow and ask for a diagnostic (And price of repair...). I will coment it here as soon as I'll know something. Thank all of you for the help
hd7 ??
i thinks you wrong box this is HD2 General
