Please help...
I bought a Shadow from Ebay with this condition :
1. Device Locked => Solved with Hard Reset
2. Locked to T-mobile => Solved with SDA Unlocked
Now I have another problem, my shadow not detected my micro sd.
the micro sd is from my other phone and try to insert to my shadow.
what is the problem? how to solve it?
please help....thanks
I believe the HTC Shadow can only read normal SD cards not HDSD (i think thats it) the high capacity micro SD cards arent supported.
The Shadow works with SD cards upto 8GB. If your Shadow is not recognizing SD cards, the SD card slot is more than likely broken.

no i use sdhc class 4 all seems fine
8-GB HD works in mine...
I have a "Transcend" 8gb Micro SD (I'm almost positive it's HD) that works fine in both my Shadows. I've a 16gb but it's in use as a Virtual-Machine drive in my laptop. When I can I'll try it out for the heck of it.
Of note- my 2gb non HD does NOT work in either. Weird. Works in the PC though.
Standard formatting and all that....

There are now SDHC cards of 8 GB.
Universal does not support SDHC cards.
BUT... there are many adapters that transform SDHC card into a SD card.
Those are cards of SD size. You insert SDHC cards into them.
Did someone try to use 8 GB sdhc cards on Universal with such an adapter?

I read somewhere in the Qtek Manual that the MAXIMUM Storage Card size the Universal will support is 6GB. I am unsure what will happen if you squeeze an 8GB card into it. Maybe it would:
1. Not detect any card at all
or
2. Will only indicate a 6GB card, despite the fact that you plugged an 8GB one
Whatever the case, I am pretty sure that there is an OS workaround to this issue (if it really is an issue). Maybe WM6 has already addressed this limitation, you never know. Maybe all that you need to do is format the Storage Card to a FAT32 media format, instead of the default FAT16 most cards come in.
Given that SDHC cards are the same size as SD cards, how exactly would it fit into an adapter, and then into the uni?!?!?
There are mini SDHC cards which fit the 2.0 standard but with such adapter I think you'll just get a normal SDHC card..

Yes I am interested in this as well, how can a card that is the same size as the convertor card fit!!!
I have a 4 GB SDHC card (DANE-ELEC) that I bought from Expansys and it works in nothing, no computers, cameras PDA or anything......... What are they supposed to work in?
And if there is and adapter that works please provide a link!!!!

This is always the problem with new technologies in which the Buyer Beware principle applies. The SDHC cards are out there, but the readers for those cards are not yet as pervasive and mainstream as the previous generation ones.
This is a critical flaw in the SDHC technological evolution. They basically produced a half-solution (for me its a half-assed solution) which should have never been implemented. Here is the half-assed solution:
- SDHC readers are backwards compatible and can read traditional SD as well as SDHC cards.
- SDHC cards ARE NOT backwards compatibe with traditional SD readers and will only wrk with SDHC readers.
It is the above problem that has got consumers at large, you included, absolutely furious for not making things clearer. So - if you are an SDHC card holder, and are desperate to use it, well .... there is no choice for you to wait for the SDHC readers to be present in the devices you wish to use SDHC cards in.

How support for Universal ?
Guys, received a review sample of a Transcend 8GB SDHC card today and it doesn't work. The Universal just won't detect a Storage Card.
The same goes for ALL other Windows Mobile devices with SD slot at this moment.
Even readers must be special SDHC ones. I have one of those and the PC can work with the card.
This is not going to help, but I have a Transcend 4GB SDHC card, and it's hopeless too, doesn't work in the Universal.

For that you'll need Transcend's NORMAL 4GB SD card. They have a regular one and a 150x (access speed) one.
I have the latter and it works great for almost a year now.
great~~~~ i like this~
RE
Yes, TRANSCEND 4GB SD card 150x works great on my set too
Pretec 133x Cheetah 4 GB card works on my Universal, too:
http://www.dealtime.co.uk/xPF-Pretec-SHM04G
I was using it in my MDA Compact (HTC Magician) and it was working ok, too. I had to use cNET Flash format to access 4GB, though.
It would be cool if anyone could come up with a solution that would enable the Universal to read SDHC cards. I'm sure a new driver would solve this as the hardware is exactly the same.

what if you use a micro to SD adaptor with an 8 gig micro SD??
anyone ever try this?
my buddies 2 gig works in the adaptor.

Must reiterate this point... I have one too, and it works great, no problems at all, and fast!
Hopefully this page will answer these neverending SDHC questions... "the SD 2.0 standard in SDHC uses a different memory addressing method (sector addressing vs byte addressing[9]). 4GB SDHC cards can only work with SDHC compatible host devices."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital_card (Scroll down to SDHC).
As far as I can tell, SDHC requires different HARDWARE to run, think it's down to the motherboard level and maybe even the slot itself.
yeah, interestingly my buddies 2 gig micro sd card is sdhc.
and it worked.. i don't actually know if there are 8 gig micro sd.. and MAN those cards are small!

What brand of micro SDHC card are you using?
It's San Disk
Hi there,
you may think : "not another one with MiniSD card problems !", but I bought my HTC P3600 yesterday with a Kingston 2Gb MiniSD card and it just won't see the card. I have the original, latest WM5 version and didn't try to reformat the card (because I don't have a card reader here) yet, so could that be the problem or is it hardware-related ?
Regards
you can see more info in the memory setting
for sd cards
otherwise it could be a hardware issue had it happen before
with various flash cards
and of cause it could be the phone's sd connector if no minisd cards work :S
It doesn't show anything there, it says "not installed"......couldn't it be the card that only has to be formatted ? Or do you think it is hardware-related ?
just yr luck tt yr kingston 2gb is not recognised by your trinity.
happened to my friend as well.
solved when she got a sandisk instead.
You need tio try one of 2 things
1) Try your card in another device
2) Try another card in your device
If either work OK, it points to the culprit and the solution
my best bet is that the card is dead
happent to a 512MB kindston i had too
1 day it just stop'd working
kinda odd too when they say that sd cards are very resilient
saw a clip where they placed a digicam on a bridge and blew it up
and the sd card still worked
and a cam fell into the sea and washed up and the sd card was still working so they could get the pictures out
but i have many kingston sd cards which work just fine
Well, formatting the card had the desired effect !
It is now found by the P3600 and I was able to install the TomTom maps
I'm glad it worked !!
so im excited to get a 8gb card for my kaiser,so i pop it in and reset...goto memory>storage card NOTHING!pop it out put it in my pc and invalid process!!!WTF?!?!?!help please
Have you tried to format the card from your PC. If that doesn't work you might have a bad card. Sucks but it does happen sometimes.
Also, please remember that these portable handsets are usually not NTFS file format compatible. Be sure when you are formatting that the card is in FAT or FAT32 mode, with default block sizes and allocation.
Also, it does sound to me that your card is defective. I have never had to "format" any flash cards I have ever bought before using them, except a couple old CF cards for my SLR camera.
I got a sandisk 8gb microsdhc myself - and it works great...
(except when one morning I wake up and find out that all the data's gone, and had to recover it with GetDataBack)
I'm no SDHC expert (I've only had 1 for 2 weeks) but I ran into some problems myself...
1) If you're running Win XP on your desktop, you'll need to download the hotfix for SDHC support here (I don't use Vista so I'm not sure if it supports SDHC natively)
2) The card reader I have connected to my PC wouldn't read SDHC cards but the USB reader that came with my SanDisk 8GB MicroSDHC card does work. Make sure the adapter you're using to connect to the PC supports SDHC.
3) Sounds stupid but make sure you're pushing the card all the way into your phone. You should feel some spring pressure and then hear a 'click' as it locks into place. You push it in and it springs out to remove it. I have pretty big fingers and I didn't insert mine all the way the first time. I still have to use something small (the back end of the stylus) to fully insert my SDHC card.
---OR---
You may have a faulty card
mine work!!

Here is the WinXP SDHC Update if you don't want to d/l it from the MS Site.
I have a 8GB SDHC Sandisk. I formated as FAT32 winXP SP2 updated and it works perfect on my tytn II and as a pendrive (with the usb adapter included)
thanx for the help guys but i think i have a bad card...
sorry if you've got a bad card . i scored mine (8gb - sandisk microsdhc) off ebay for $45.00. works flawlessly!
I have just copied all of the contents of my 4gb card onto a new 8gb card, no problems so far, but when I put it back into my Kaiser, the volume only shows as a 4 gb, with 1 gb free, which are he details of the old card, any help greatly appreciated
thanks

So I recently bought an 8GB Class 6 MicroSD card from Microcenter (One of the generic Microcenter ones) and when I plug it into my Vista x64 machine and try to navigate to it, explorer.exe hangs and freezes until I unplug it. Ubuntu recognizes it, but it will not show up in GPartEd, mind you this is with two card readers on different computers. The phone recognizes it but won't save anything to it.
And on top of that I had my dad exchange the card out for another one because it is closer to where he works (Microcenter is about 20 minutes away), and they both do the same thing, has anyone experienced this also?
Are you using an SDHC card reader? Those cards are SDHC. Make sure your card reader has SDHC letters on it.
SDHC is not the same as a SD card. Older card readers will hang the OS.
I went to a MicroCenter and asked about the $50 (or so) card and they told me that it was actually just a class 2 so I refused to buy it. Instead I got a NAME BRAND (AData) from Newegg for the same price and I love it! I don't have any issues.
But it sounds like you need a new or different SDHC adapter.
Edit: Have you tried just using the phone as the adapter by mounting it?
If you can access the card that way then my guess is that it's not the card.

I can confirm this. I have a 4 GB SDHC card that will not work in my current reader. I got a smaller regular non-high-density card to recover with. Either get a small card (2 GB) or upgrade your reader.
I did find out that I needed an SDHC reader. I just bought one and it works great.
My HD2 either doesn't discover the storage card, or loses it after just a few moments.
I have tried two different cards (the 2GB supplied and my 8GB microSDHC).
Has anyone had a similar problem?
Any ideas?
Or is my phone defective.... Help!
^2 options
either storage card is defective or phone is defective...
seems like you did a cross change...
try another storage card on HD2 and try your HD2 storage card on another phone.
then you know which one causes this.
Usually 95% of the cases its the storage card thats defective
My 8Gb card works in my Xperia X1 - the card is a Sandisk Micro SD HC. Whereas the card supplied is a 2Gb Sandisk Micro SD.
Not sure what HC is.
I assume the HD2 can take a 8Gb card - but unsure about the difference in the cards.

HC = High Capacity IIRC
The HD2 can take an 8gb card.
The cards don't seem to be faulty (that is assuming that you've tested the 2gb also).
Try a reset/hard boot. I have had this issue before with other phones and that sometimes fixes
indeed SD stands for Secure Digital and HC for High Capacity...
the next generation will be SDXC (with eXtended capacity)...but thats coming 2010 or 2011..
anyway seems like your phone has an issue. Because HTC devices of the last few years are all capable of SDHC memory cards and they support either 16 or 32 GB.
I would make use of my warranty. But before try a hard reset.
Thank you all for the information.
The HD2 doesn't like that 8GB SDHC Card. When in the memory section of the phone, it recognises it, displays it used/free space, then shortly afterwards states no card is installed!
A hard reset, if no luck, I'll return it... fingers crossed.
Crap!
Hard reset didn't work! Why do I always get the duff unit!
I find it strange that it detects the card for a while then loses it...
Sending it back tomorrow for exhange....
thats the only reason I'm not such a big fan of online orders...in warranty cases everything takes a little longer.
but don't be discouraged...worse things happen in life. keep your head up
At least in the UK you are covered by Distance Selling Regulations. Hope you get it sorted soon mate!
Did you try to format your SD card?
I faced a similar situation with Diamond 2 where the SD was faulty until I did a quick format Fat32 and it worked perfectly
faced this issue in my touch hd AND x1. try formatting the card - helped me twice.
Did you install SD tune up? I also had the same problem. I uninstalled SD tune up and reset and storage card was found again. also I installed s2u2 but believe it was the former app that caused the problem.
Ah-haaaaaaaaaaa!
Formating to FAT32 has fixed the problem - thank you all for you help and suggestions.
I also must say thanks to HTC tech guru's too who experimented with various memory cards too.
Now to start a new thread on Bluetooth - Car Kit...

I had the same problem with my 16 Gig card. I made a backup of the card on my pc, formatted it and inserted in my HD2 and from that moment I had no problem anymore
