Mute on incoming calls - myTouch 3G, Magic General

hi there,
I've got a problem with my phone since I bought it. Every time i get a call, sooner or later the call gets muted on both sides... so the call is still active, but on both sides you can't hear anything. normally it takes about 3-5 seconds until this happens. I can hold the phone like I want, pressed to my head or not touching it at all, it happens all the time. when I call out, everything works as it should. Does anybody else has this problem? Or does anybody know why this happens?
My phone: Sapphire PVT 32A (HTC branded)
ROM's so far: Original HTC ROM, Fatality Hero & CyanogenMod (the problem exists on all of them)
SPL: updated it when I flashed the hero ROM, but didn't understand what it does, so I took the one suggested... and don't remember how it's called (hayakuro?) if it is important, I try to find out
thx for your help

Have you tried returning it back to T-Mo and explaining the problem yet?

Touch Elf (3450) freezes

Hello everybody,
After flashing an Elfin Rom to my Elf, my Elf stuck at there colors screen. Vodafone-Shop was quite helpful and they sent me a new Elf
I have been using the new Elf for about 3 weeks and for the third time (happens almost one time in a week), my Elf does not recognize, that i press the power button. If the display was off, i see that the led blinks and even the long pressing of the power button does not change anything. The only solution was a soft reset. Today i lived it again, but this time the display was on and it did not turn off. Holding the power button for a few seconds and restarting was the solution.
Has anyone the same problem or any ideas why it can happen?
Thanks in advance...
Erkan
On my HTC Touch (P3451) I have the same problem: The phone randomly freezes in such a way that I have to do a soft reset. Also, when the phone is on stand-by, when I press the On/Off button (to turn the screen on) nothing happens... neither if I press any of the other buttons (green, red or camera),despite of this, the green led of the top still blinks... Some other times, it justs restarts by it's own, no matter what I'm doing (a few time during today screen, some other using office, a couple listening tu music, and a lot of times when it was on stand by in my pocket).
Also, the phone loses the cellular signal very often (I don't know if that is related to the freezing problem).
I've tried doing a hard reset an using it without any 3rd party programs installes, but the problem persist.
I tried taking it to the vendor in Lima (where I live), but they say that because thre's a small scratch on the case, the warranty is void...
I don't know what to do about this... Any suggestions? please?
This is a hardware problem, This problem is associated with faulty motherboard, and suddenly, in a few days you will notice that phone will stop getting power on, it generally happens when phone falls on hard surface from a height, may due some dislocation of micro soldering. Its better you report to service centre, if the phone the phone is in warranty, they will replace motherboard free of cost, only issue is your device IMEI number will change with motherboard replacement.
i think the problem was something to do with the software. i flashed the Junior version of Onyx ROM with Windows Mobile 6.1 to my Elf, which has YouTube and GoogleEarth preinstalled and is memory-friendly at the same time. Now my Elf does not freez anymore.
I think it's a software problem.
I flashed a lot of ROMs in my Elf but, after a flash version 3.1.1 of really great Onyx Sr., the phone starts to have a bad behavior. It's freeze a lot and the green led still blinks.
I will try to use normal light off and shutdown method instead of using ShutXP to try. But it's definitely a software problem.

HI marcosvafg,
i have done the same like you, marcosvafg. but unfortunately my touch is lost in black-screen-smart-moblity-screen-space. can you give me a detailed description what you have done to restart your mobile phone?
i did this:
- go into bootloader
- start to install new rom
but every rom i used i got an error (image is corrupted, wrong model ID). which rom did you use?
many thanks
alex0123
I had a problem where my Elf started freezing almost after me entering the PIN. It is true that it got a rough drop just before doing it, but no serious damage was done to its skin.
I got it to the company and they changed the motherboard free of charge.
Hi guys,
i think gagandeepbains is right that this is a hardware problem. Because i lived it many times with some other cooked ROMs, and i can say that it is happening mostly when the temperature in the environment is low. maybe it is a reason, why this happens usually, when leaving the mobile on overnight...
after flashing my original ROM, i"ll give it back to Vodafone and ask for a change.
for you all, if you still have warranty, bring those back (and who knows, maybe you get an ELFIN instead of an ELF).
the same thing happened to my elf when i first got it back in august last year.
was a hardware problem, orange UK sent it to HTC for repair and i got it back 3 weeks later with a new motherboard in the phone,
also got a surprise to find that they had also upgraded the memory.
i sent in an elf and got an elfin back.
i thought that was a nice surprise
alright.
but to make sure, you can always upgrade to 03.21.90 radio.
thats the most stable one.
I had the same problem but with coocked roms (rarely with the original one)
early onyx roms had a bug with ELF but not in new roms
If still in warrenty try to change it again

help me. My newly purchased x7501 died.

i just bought this x7501 with wm6.0, spl-v1.10, the image version was 2.19.453.3. i wanted to upgrade to wm8.1 so I was using Athena Unlocker trying to unlock my x7501 and the first step went okay. Then the diaster stroke when i pressed flash radio at the second step. message says it can not connect to my device. after that, i cannot turn on my x7501, it almost looked like all power has lost. when i press slide down + reset, it goes into restore factory page but when i press action key, i was told to press power button to power up, but when i press the power button, screen just goes black. when i press camera button all the way down + reset, i can see the colorful screen but then it just says loading and stay that way...help me, people, i can't use this brick as my pillow. i need it as a pda...thank you very much. sorry about my not good english.

remove your sd card and sim card and try again.
when you see the three colour screen wat SPL is being reported?
thank you. it worked. the spl says 1.20. i flashed the origional rom shipped found in the forum to my device. it's alive now.
i have another quesiont if you are kind to asnwer me. when i call x7501 from othe phone, i can hear the ring tone but the x7501 doesn't ring or show incoming calls. well, there are a couple of times, right before the the calling goes into voice mail, the x7501 showed incoming calls but just in a split of seconds, there is no way a human could possibly take the call not even a kungu master. why? do i need to upgrade my radio.? i have no probablem making calls . my current radio rom i think is 1.47. wha't's my next move. thank you. guys, you people are good.
sounds like either a phone network setting or some setting on your phone
flash radio 1.57 to allow later roms but I don't think this will fix your current problem
i upgraded the radio to 1.57 following other threads found somewhere here.
One thing i found about x7501 is the wifi is very weak. it loses wifi connection even when i go up stairs (access point is downstairs) while my other wifi enable devices (htce t3333 and my ipod) still have a solid connection. is this common among x7501 or it is just my x7501. thank you. also, another quesiont kind of not related to Rom, there is a slight scratch across the screen of my x7501, is there anyway to get read of it. i just receieved the 5 inch protector today, i want to remove the scratch before i put the film on it. thank you again.

I have an X7500 and the wifi on it is very good! I can even be outside my house in my detached garage, and it works.
Also, depending on which screen protector you just got, you may not need to even bother with the scratch.... Mine made the scratches disappear completely! It is a Clear Protector brand, but the Zagg is the same.
Later
i put the film on without doing much on the scratch. you are right, the film made the scratch almost gone. only from a certain angle, you can still tell a subtle hint, but that doens't bother me. thank you. the wifi is strange. i have 1.57 radio flashed to my x7501 too, but the connection is awful. well, i don't know. i installed garmin gps xt on it, the GPS reception is better than my standalone Garmin 260w. it's just the wife sucks.
Glad that worked to help hide the scratch. I don't know what to tell you about the wifi.Have you tried doing the dreaded hard reset yet? I actually have always done 2 complete hard resets right after flashing a new rom.

[Q] Blue LED of death?

So here goes my story (I just hope someone will have enough patience to read all this I have underlined the important bits, if you're not in the mood of reading all this stuff, but could help anyway)..
Bought an used HTC Magic (Vodafone branded) from eBay UK for £175 in absolutely mint condition, no signs, scratches, no nothing. Came unlocked from carrier and with full original package. And everything went perfect for about two weeks..
Then, for no obvious reasons (wasn't dropped, was not exposed to water or something like that - there was done absolutely nothing that could possibly harm the phone physically), phone started doing strange things randomly.. And in about 3 days after it started, those things started occurring so frequently, that they made the phone absolutely unusable.
First of all, phone specs (original), before I started rooting/modding/etc:

The OS was 100% stock 1.6 Android, recovery image was also stock, which made me to believe that phone wasn't rooted/modded ever before.
So.. about the problem:
Action: Turning ON the phone, doesn't matter in which mode (normal (POWER), recovery (HOME+POWER) or fastboot (BACK+POWER), possible endings (occur randomly):
Blue LED of death: Screen does not react, no backlight, no vibration (which occurs when boot process starts), blue LED illuminates, nothing else happens. The only way to make it stop - disconnect the battery.
Sub-normal: Backlight turns on, vibrates as normal, but the carrier logo (Vodafone (same as green myTouch screen in MT3G)) is not displayed, as it should be. Randomly, about 3 out of 5 times - after some time OS booting animation appears and the phone boots up, but sometimes not, always stays in this frozen-back-lit screen state.
Boots as normal.
Action: Using the phone:
Touchsreen stops working randomly, but everything else works: I can select things with trackball, do everything, except my touch input isn't registered. To fix this, I have to push POWER button to put it into sleep and wake it up again, then touch input starts working again. (Not software issue, happens with Cyanogen 5, 6 as well as stock 1.5 and 1.6)
Phone freezes randomly, then after about 1-3 minutes reboots automatically, but reboots in one of two modes (see above for explanations):
Blue LED of death.
Sub-normal.
Sometimes works absolutely with no problems, but this has become very rare in the past few days.
Action: Waking the phone up from sleep state:
Hardware keys illuminate, screen does not react at all. Pushing the POWER button again would cause absolutely random things:
Sometimes, the screen turns on, while the key illumination turns off, but everything works as normal, even those keys;
Sometimes, just turns off the illumination on keys and the other time using POWER/MENU button - screen wakes-up just as it should;
Sometimes, after a few more unsuccessful tries to wake the screen, everything freezes and hardware key illumination starts doing a laser show: flashes rapidly and randomly, then stops and phones reboots.
Wakes-up as normal.
To cure this - tried everything from the software side: tried both, stock and custom ROMs, different SPLs, different recovery IMGs, everything - none of this helped.
Tried reaching for support from my local HTC dealer, they refused to fix the phone by warranty, but took it for a paid repair. The repair quote was about £260 (more than the phone itself, which I bought used from eBay) so I refused.
They said that the motherboard of the phone needs to be replaced, but didn't say why. I have my own reasons to believe that the board doesn't need to be replaced and could still be repaired in the worst case.
First of all, they didn't open the phone at all: "VOID" warranty sticker was intact and in same position (as I made some photos of the phone to compare it before and after the service ). Secondly, I gave them phone with non-stock SPL, so they could think that the mainboard was swapped or something, causing all this stuff.
HTC international instructed me to ship the phone back to UK for a warranty-covered service, so that's what I'm doing next, but before that I thought maybe someone had already faced this problem and knows the cause or even a fix for the problem.
Thanks in advance.
First of all wrong section. This should have been started in General.
Secondly, sounds like it is a problem with something on the hardware side. I would get it fixed under the warranty.

Well, yeah, sounds like hardware, but I have some hope, that someone would at least explain me what's exactly wrong, what's causing this, etc, if this is a common fault for this particular HTC Magic 32b Vodafone UK, and is known to this community.
Secondly, it would take at least 2 or 3 weeks to get the phone back, so I'm loosing almost nothing by first asking in the forums and not sending the phone back to UK (btw, I live in Lithuania), in the first place
I'll move to general tonight when I get home.
I think that is your trackball make the problem. Need to be cleaned. I had same problem.

Damn, I had the same thought today! How did you clean it? Pop-opened then case and cleaned trackball's socket with some special liquid?
When you are disassemble the phone and when you come to the trackball, you'll see what need you to clean . I have used medical rubbing alcohol. Sorry for my english

[Q] Device encryption hangs start-up

Hello,
I recently configured ActiveSync E-Mail on my HTC HD mini. Everything works fine until I power off and power on the device. The startup sequence is paused with the following text:
"Company policy has enabled device encryption. Startup is suspended. Select unlock to continue. Emergency calls: Press talk."
When I select Unlock then nothing happens (the button is pressed).
The device cannot be turned off by power off button (it only goes to sleep).
The problem is not solved by removing the battery, putting it back and powering on.
The only way to get the device working is to hard reset the device by the special sequence of keys.
Device: HTC HD mini
ROM: RUU_Photon_HTC_WWE_EastEurope_1.36.479.1_Radio_Signed_32.2803.05.06_0.63.05.36_Ship.exe
I reproduced this problem 3 times.
I downgraded from RUU_Photon_HTC_WWE_EastEurope_1.36.479.1_Radio_Signed_32.2803.05.06_0.63.05.36_Ship.exe to RUU_Photon_HTC_WWE_EastEurope_1.32.479.2_Radio_Signed_32.2802.05.06_0.63.05.35_Ship.exe which seemed to remove the problem. However, it appeared after several power cycles also on 1.32.
Any idea how to correct this?
I had exactly the same problem when I purchased the HD minn a few months ago. It happened 3 times in a row that I had to hard-reset and re-install for exactly the same reason (no unlock keys after start-up.) I called my corporate's IT department. They said they changed something on my MS exchange policy profile that may help. Frankly, I can't believe that this was the real root cause of the issue but ever since then it works fine. Never had this problem again for 4 months.
Sorry that I don't have a real solution for you.
CM
Thank you for you reply. May I have additional questions?
1. What ROM release do you have on your HD mini? As you had the problem a few months ago it might be 1.32, right? I have the problem on ROM 1.36 when I first time power cycled the HD mini. It survived many power cycles on ROM 1.32 until the last one which caused the problem again.
2. Is there any chance asking your corp. IT dept. about the change they did?
==
edit:
It seems that the responsible one is HTC Sense. I upgraded from ROM 1.32 to 1.36. I decided to test this with HTC Sense turned off. The problem is no longer present on 1.36 when HTC Sense is off. However, it is a workaround only. I informed HTC support and I hope they will fix it.
Same problem as the others, only I found the cause!
Everything works fine on mine (1.36) until I change the lock screen wallpaper. As soon as I change that the device hangs on the unlock screen at start-up.
If you look at the way it all works, on start-up when you are prompted to unlock, you get the standard unlock screen with the slide down option, and a background picture. I'm guessing the default picture is held in un-encrypted memory, and so it works. If you change the picture, the new picture is held in encrypted space and can't be accessed until you add your key. Only you can't because the device has crashed.
One work around may be to assign it a background picture from the SD card. But having only just got the thing to work I don't feel like trying it in case it puts me back to square one.
Update: Yes copy the image you want to SD card and then change the lock screen wallpaper to point at that. Device boots normally with the new wallpaper.
Hopefully this will help someone.
radar: Thank you for your input. The explanation sounds reasonable. I'll test it once I need to reinstall the device. I'll stick with the working status I have for now.
I am in the middle of waiting for my hard reset to complete as I type. I just had the same exact issues as you all described. I wanted to add though that the background I was using when this happened was from my storage card so I dont know if that will fix anything.
Ill try to add anything else I find out. I am going to try this one more time and then forget about my work email if the same thing happens. Or I might try to find a new rom - but I like what I have
Edit: I actually just saw that you (radar) said the image on the card worked... weird. I'm goign to try again. If I could get around this everything will be working perfectly and I'm not ready to give up.
Try disabling HTC sense. It helped me.; I am running months (done several power cycles) without the problem.

HTC Hermes TyTN 8525 Turns off automatically

Hello,
I have a small problem with my 8525, it turns off automatically, when it does the display fades slowly in lines but you can still see the last image that was on the screen.
When i press (hold) power button to start the phone again it dies not respond.
I need to remove the battery and put it back in order for it to Start again but sometime it just turns off again while the phone is starting.
Yesterday i tried to change the Rom and it stopped until i tried to access the internet on the phone. After that it started to turns off again and again. When i try to make a call or when i receive a call it turns of. It also turns off when it is charging.
I believe that it might be the Radio which is doing this or the battery but i am no expert of this thing and it is mere speculations.
I wanted to know what other knowledgeable users think about this and tell me what you believe r know it may be.
PS: Radio Version 1.16.00.00
Rom Version: Calamity HD
Previous Rom: I forgot what it was :S
Any help will be really handy,
Thank You!
