Hi,
The email notification icon which should appears every time a new email arrived isn't consistent; I was wondering if other people have the same issue and if there was a fix for it.
By that I mean: the "email notification" icon shows up only 20% of the time upon newly received mail. So I constantly have to check the email tabs to see if something new has arrived. It's a bit frustrating...
Also: Is there a way to have the SMS blinking light and sound behavior for the email? Meaning: if someone send me a SMS; the phone emit a beep and a green blinking light reminds me of this new SMS. I would like the same behavior when I receive an email.
SMS is such a rip off; making you pay 20c a message or $5 for 500 messages; it's so ridiculously expensive... Especially since pushed email work really well!
Kandjar
Go again through the list of sounds and notifications, there you will find exactly what you are looking for.
Indeed; I didn't thought about that list... it's not too often than m$ provide something useful up front
Thanks you very much for the reply I did work
I still don't have a consistent mail icon in the notification bar; but at this point I don't really care; the blinking light + sound is way enough

I have to wade through so many notification messages every time I switch on my phone, its so annoying and there's no apparant way to stop them. Right infront of me, we have email notifications, sms notifications, alarm notifications, calendar notifications, and a battery warning notification! arrggh!! I can't access the calendar hardware button without clearing all these notifications first.
So, into 'sound and notification' settings and disable them right?
Wrong. It doesn't seem to make any difference. I've gone through each event such as 'Messaging: New email message', and 'Messaging: New text message', etc, and taken the tick out of 'display message on screen' but still I can't access the hardware button on the today screen without clearing the notifications first.
The search criteria required for answers to this problem online is too vague, you just hit on other subjects regarding notifications that are nothing to do with this. Can anyone offer some suggestions?
Thanks.

Which ROM are you running?
RE: annoying notifications
I couldnt agree more!
This happens with every ROM i have used including 2003, wm5 and now wm6 black 3.5.
The one I really want to get rid of is the battery low notifications.
Jees, it drives me mad.
Surely just altering a reg key?? I did a search in there but wasnt sure exactly where to look!
Hi, I'm having the same issue. I want to get rid of the missed call notification messages that pop up all the time. The missed call icon is enough, I don't need the message as well! It's very frustrating.
it's the notification queue
..and it's a known issue. hard reset will definitely cure it, or you could use scarybear's "check notifications" or similar to clear it.
I really hate the low battery warning icon nagging me when 40% of battery is still left!! help !
The thing is that with delivery notifications turned on I am getting every notification in 2 ways:
- as a popup
- as message in my SMS box
So the problem is that even if I delete this message from my box I still have to take care of the one on Today screen or otherwise I will have orange light blinking. So I wonder if there is any way to force Wizard to stop taking care about notification when it is being deleted from SMS box.
Sorry for my English. I hope you will understand what I mean. Big thanks for any help in advance
Is it possible to change the notifications so that the trackball keeps flashing when there's a new email / missed call / voicemail etc? At the moment it seems to flash when new email arrives and that's it, so if you miss the flash you can't tell there are any notifications unless you check.
actually just found out that when you have notifications the indicator flashes green, otherwise it doesn't flash at all. Unlike other HTC devices (where they nomally flashed green and then flashed orange to indicate notifications), but I guess it'll do
It does say in the user guide that the LED will flash green when there are notifications, but who ever reads that.
It would be nice to be able to select if the trackball should light up, in which interval and for what notifications. The green led will blink on any notification, not just email and missed call.
I came across an app called SMS Popup. It can change the color of the LED for SMS and MMS notifications in addition to the other great options of popping the message up on the screen and giving you reminders of unread messages.
Hi all,
i have a question about notifications :
How long notifications such as a received text messages disappear from the notification bar?
I often have to go to the Friends of the widget to see the new sms icon in green, after 1 or 2 hours that i cant use phone and notifications disappear.
Tnx to all
Notifications normally don't disappear until you're explicitly read them or cleared them. Text notifications should still be there even if you restart your phone.

thanks for the reply, but I still have this problem with the notifications in the bar, as if there was a deadline in time, perhaps some setting?
maybe because i installed the ota 1.72?
I also find the notifications on this phone to be haphazard. I'm sure the light notifications clear after a short time. I've missed several important messages as a result.
I will monitor this more carefully since I am not 100% certain that this behaviour is actually happening -- but I think it is.
Just got this phone last week and same here. Notifications are fine for everything except SMS. I sometimes dont get:
a) A Notification of a new SMS.
b) the messages icon on my home screen, doesnt show a new text count, with a green circle and number.
When I go into messages, there is a new sms or sms's.
Im running 1.75.110.2
and kernel 2.6.32.21
Its a pain.
Concerning the no SMS notification, it's a known bug since the 1.72 update. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=887098 .
I've concluded that SMS is a disaster on Android in all respects.

OK. I have been monitoring this for the last few days. I can now confirm that the notification light goes on when I receive a text (SMS) message but it does not stay on. So, if I don't notice the light at the time, I am unaware that there is a text message waiting for me.
I presume that this behaviour effects everyone running the 1.72 update.
Generally, I love my new phone but there is one issue I have not been able to solve which is a deal breaker. According to the Nexus support line, and my extensive experimentation, it is impossible to turn off email notification vibrations (non gmail), yet still have vibration notifications for text messages.
I receive hundreds of emails a day and the last thing I need is the phone vibrating all the time. On the other hand, my texts are less frequent and typically need attention!
According the Nexus support rep it is a function of Android 4.2
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
On an unrelated issue, the servers automatically assigned by the phone for both Bellsouth (Yahoo) and Hotmail email did not work. I had to search the web for other viable pop3 and imap options!
Can you use handcent for your texts and enable it that app?

Unfortunately the issue is not with the sms program. The problem is with the native email program. It seems no matter what setting one uses on any email account there will always be vibration notifications. The only way to turn these off is to set the phone to silence (one down volume click after vibration mode). The problem with putting the phone in silence mode is that one cannot get sms vibration notifications.
In my mind this makes ZERO sense!
apparently this has been a known issue for about a month.......

try light flow i think they have options for vibration and other notification settings outside of just the notification light
edit: ya light flow free has vibration control and it works to fix this

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried Light Flow...even bought the paid edition. Unfortunately, this does not work. I tried all types of combinations between email and text and same issue. Net net...if the sms notification vibrates then the email notification vibrates and visa versa. Looking to disconnect those two!
