has any one got any new wep cracking tools they would care to share or any bluesnafing/bluejacking tools
Do0d, it is very bad form to be asking for blatantly illegal things in public forum...
Concur
I concur.
Try Google please.
why would you say its illegal there are plenty of reasons for needing such programs eg you have just got a router of ebay it has the wep enabled wouldnt you need a wep cracker to get the key????
bluesnafing tools i have two phones one just for sms but i left it upstairs (am lazy by the way) i have my main phone with all the time i could use the tool to get my sms from the phone upstairs
i wouldnt dream of doing any thing illegal with them unless hacking my own phone and network is illegal
So please people dont be so quick to jump the gun
Well I'm glad to hear you have honorable intentions (and I assumed nothing), I still believe the tools you're asking for are designed explicitly for nefarious/illegal purposes:
- if you bought a router on eBay, why not ask the previous owner what the admin password was and/or perform a hard reset? Hacking the WEP key on your own device might be a legal gray area, but the technology required to do so is designed to break into secured environments (and definitely illegal).
- while it may be convenient for you to access your wife's phone via bluejacking (and yes, that may be a legal gray area), the spirit and intent of bluejacking is certainly illegal and designed for stealing bluetooth datastreams and/or voice conversations.
By the way, there is certainly work elsewhere on this site (such as hacking WM5 onto devices like the BA) which is clearly a violation of license agreements and illegal and certainly not condoned/supported by me, so don't think you're being singled out...
Bottom line: regardless of good intentions, please help keep the Hermes board out of trouble by keeping illegal content out of the discussions...
Cheers
ok fair comment sorry for the inconvenance
I don't think this tools are illegal... have seen worst things here (changing imei's for example). I work on a wireless company and we use tools like those for research, penetration testing and hardening of the networks we deploy.
Back to the original question, here's my answer:
1) For bluesnarfing and bluejacking I use btCrawler:
http://www.silentservices.de/btCrawler.html
You need to create this registry key for it to work:
\HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Mode\"ISC"=1(DWORD)
2) WEP cracking with a pocket pc is a loose of time, search for "retina wifi scanner for PocketPC", it is able of doing it but will take ages to complete the process, I suggest to use aircrack-ng on a laptop with linux
hi pof. i dont know retina wifu scanner can crack wep.
thanks for the info. i search the whole internet n realise that it no longer can be downloaded. do u have a copy of it? can pm me? thanks.
Here you can download it: RetinaWiFiPoc.exe
when i execute retina wifi scanner on my dopod838pro. it said can not load device driver. if the wireless configuration utility is running, please shut it down. i already soft reset still cannot. any advice. did you try to run it on 838pro, i mean, hermes?
No, I used it some time ago with my old blueangel in wm2003, not sure if it is compatible with newer devices and I think retina discontinued the product.
yer i have already got both them progs bt is exallent but i get the same error as above with retina
but thank you very much for the reply
There is a windows version of crackair-ng, at the same place as the linux version, not sure if it's anygood though.
yer thanks i have that as well i was mainly looking for a pocket ver but it looks like ill just have to wait am sure some one will bring one out soon
Hi everyone, glad to see a comprehensive forum on HTC/Kaiser products.
Recently bought a Tilt and really do like this product, less the feathery lite feel in my pocket.
I do have a couple of questions to ask anyone familiar with the Tilt variation of this product.
I would like to upgrade my Tilt (already lol) to some of the better UI and utility screens that I have seen on the, TyTn II. Namely, the cool home screen & possibly even the "Touch Flo" utility if that actually works on my device. I was searching the posts in the XDA forums, but there seems to be many newer versions of these I assume because of improvements or...bugs maybe.
I found one called, "HTCHome6." Anyone know if this is a current or good one that also shows my local weather or weather where I am traveling too?
One other item that is concerning me, I migrated to a Tilt from an older iPAQ unit that was also "wi-fi" capable. However, when I try to connect to my home wireless (WEP) network utilizing a very standard LinkSys router, the Tilt will not connect to it, although the network is available. My iPAQ never had issues, so I am wondering what is going on with this.
Thanks for any help or suggestions. Look forward to this forum and maybe contributing something useful someday.
Michael
I first off would like to start off by saying I'm in the market of getting a new cell phone, and am really interested in the touches. I'm a college student, so I really can't afford TOO much, but am just wanting some good bang for my buck, and I feel the touches are just what I'm looking for.
However, I really don't have much of a clue which I'm wanting to get. First off, my carrier is GSM (T-mobile). My concern is the number of applications or ROMs that the various touches have. For example, do roms and apps that are meant for the elf work on the Opal? I'm wanting something like the touch, but a bit faster, as I've heard many complain that the elf is a bit slow. Also, is the Opal considered the "Touch Enhanced"? There are WAY too many nicknames, and they are all very confusing for me.
Simply put, I'm trying to find a touch that can at least play youtube movies at good frame rates (from wi-fi), and run most apps or roms well. However, I don't want to buy a model of touch and realize that there are no real mods for it to "pimp" it out. I have looked around on the search, but I feel these questions are a bit too "common sense" to be easily found anywhere.
Lastly, I'm not interested in a data plan, as I'm mainly wanting to use it as a PDA (don't need push-email or internet everywhere I go). Frankly, I live in a city dominated w/ wifi, and will be covered by that everywhere I go. Without a data plan, what apps or features will I be missing out on?
I really appreciate ANY help. Thanks for everything!

To answer your other question - most apps and programs can work with any windows mobile device - Most programs will say whether they are Windows 5 only or 6 only or 6.1 only if so. Also screen resolution is a factor for some programs vga - qvga etc..
ROM upgrading is device specific - do not put a ROM intended for Opal on a ELFIN or a ROM for Elfin on a Vogue etc....... Despite there similarities, there are differences and they are different devices.
Thank for the response!
I've taken a look over those wikis, and they helped quite a bit. However, I'm a bit lost with the elfin. In concerns of updating ROMs, is it the same as the Elf? There is no board for the Elfin, and there's not much data about the Elfin. I understand the main difference is the increase in RAM, as well as the jump from wm6.0 to 6.1, but I've also heard that the elf is compatible with 6.1. Would elf roms work just fine w/ elfin? I know that's not the case /w most others, but it just seems to me that the site combined the two.
Lastly, I can imagine the best place to find a list of roms is on the boards dedicated for that specific phone. Are there any major apps or features that won't function if I am not on a data plan? I tried searching, but it seems the majority have plans, and the few that do not don't mention the downfalls. I understand there is no push-emailing or no internet everywhere, but do some apps flat out not work at all w/o a data plan? Will the apps that require internet work over wifi? I know blackberry is STRICT with what they limit you on, and I was wondering if it's the same case here?
Thanks again for the reply!

Actually, my elfin only came with Windows 6.0 not 6.1. With regard to Rom's I havn't upgraded mine ever, so I can't tell you much about it but that there are some WM 6.1 custom Roms available for the Elfin in these forums. Most are linked to the Elf forum and Elfin Rom's I have found in Elf ROM threads with Elfin ROM Links. I don't have a data plan with mine - Use only WIFI as there are tons of open WIFI networks in my area. I havn't yet found any apps that dont work over WIFI instead of using data plan but I havn't tried every single app out there yet. Most apps that require internet will work over WIFI though. I check my email, surf the web, use various weather apps, listen to internet radio and Sirius radio online and even use google maps etc... all work great over WIFI. I live in Canada so (rediculous data plans here) so do not have a data plan for that reason. Would love an unlimited data plan to be able to listen internet radio anywhere I go.
Wow.. you're a goldmine of information. I really appreciate all the help! I feel completely sold on it now. Thanks again!
As are most of you, I am considering purchasing the HD2. And I have a question regarding tethering - I use TomTom services to get live traffic updates on my TomTom Go 720, and this requires bluetooth tethering. I couldn't make this work with an HTC Touch Dual I had previously, and it has just (last week) broken with my Nokia E71.
Does anyone know whether it will work with the HD2? I am not sure how to check this out before purchase ...
(BTW I know there are software solutions (e.g. Tomtom/ Copilot) but I currently think that a seprate device works best ...)
Hope this hasn't been asked before - I have looked?
Hi Jon,
I don't have an snswer for your question, but I'm interested in the scenario. I am a little confused about exactly what you're asking though.
What exactly are you tethering via bluetooth, an external GPS unit? Are you saying that TomTom does't function using the internal GPS unit?
Thanks for the reply.
The tethering is for data purposes - the tomtom has intetrnal GPS (obviously ) but uses a data connection to get additional services such as traffic updates and speed camera locations - so the questions is one about data tethering rather than GP.
Does this clarify things?
JOn
Ahhh, right - yep, understand, but can't help you unfortunately. :-\
Best of luck.
Edit: Hang on, isn't there an "Internet Sharing" app installed to most WM phones that's supposed to do that sort of internet routing?
tomtom devices don't support Internet Connection Sharing, but I can confirm that I use my HD2 with my tomtom go 930 and have had it working fine for traffic, weather etc - wm 6.5 seems to support bluetooth DUN as standard. The tomtom even offered to transfer my contacts from my phone, though I haven't bothered as I don't use the handsfree function.
I've been having some minor problems with the device crashing since flashing a new "cooked" rom, but that's another story...

there have been reports of some roms setting the bluetooth mac address incorrectly.
that's all I know, though so you'll have to search.
I know that working in samsung phones, but it is possible with HD2?
+1
It cant be a hardware issue due to it being possible with an android rom. The only major hurdle is the closed system of WP7.
Hopefully though a god like dev will work it out eventually
that would be awesome. i'm really missing this feature on my hd2. can't use my laptop for internet atm
Is there not a wifi hotspot application for WP7?
Agreed, really is vital for many people.
I have had it confirmed directly by HTC that it is possible on the HD7 but that functionality is removed by the operator.
If its there, it can be unlocked / activated but not by a menial like I!
Hopefully someone comes up with some wireless tethering soon
I wished there is one for WP7. I always use tether on my HD2 with Windows Mobile 6.5, but dang

Some people have wrote tethering drivers for other WP7 devices so it should be possible for the HD2, right?
