Hello,
I'm new on this forum. So thanks for your replies
Since one week, I'm looking for a software allowing me to switch off completely my P3450 to a preset time, and turn on again at a preset time. This in order to save power battery during the night from 10h30 PM to 6h00 AM for example (VERY USEFULL !).
I tested all these programs:
- PsShutXP ;
- CCA Touch Off ;
- WirelessTime ;
- Auto ON / OFF ;
- Pocket WakeUp ;
- Auto Turnoff
But none of them switch off definitely the device. In fact, these software can either turn off the radio / bluetooth signal, or turn off the screen or to schedule a soft reset BUT not simply turn off my P3450.
So here's my question: does anyone know an app that would allow this procedure ? I think that "Auto Turn Off" can do it but the problem is that the P3450 blocks this process of extinction. It just shut off the screen, not the device. So, how to force this process ?
Thanks for your answers,
nfranq
Oh, I dont think Windows Mobile will allow apps to switch off the phone entirely.
If that happens, it will be a loophole of the device.
But, if some apps can schedule soft resets, why not shut off ?
I am not too sure of that than.
Maybe this could help a lot of people having same trouble :
SETUP to create an Auto ON/OFF on HTC P3450 running on Windows Mobile 6
*********************************************************
1. Use the soft "Auto ON/OFF" to schedule a (radio) Power ON at 6.00 AM (for example)
2. Use the soft "CT Scheduler LITE" to schedule a "soft call" à 22.30 PM (for example)
3. The soft to call is "MyShutdown_No_Warning_v1.1.CAB"
It "will not ask a safety Yes/No question if you want to shut down the device or not. The "No Warning" version will work on all HTC devices since the "Kaiser", including all newer models like Topaz & Rhodium."
The 1.1 v calling internal HTC function now instead of PowerOffWarning to support a wider variety of HTC devices
Then you can enjoy all your "Auto ON/OFF"

After playing with the BattUserIdle in \\HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\Timeout and noticing that it seemed to add another power state, I searched and found this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/vie...stdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=battuseridle
about the UserIdle power state.
I found the same results that the display and touchscreen would turn completely off in this mode on my Apache (the original post was for the Wizard - which is why I am posting this in the device-neutral group) but the system still seemed to be active in the background and could be woken very quickly by any button press.
There are a whole bunch of parameters that I would love to find out about in the Timeouts Key:
ACResumingSuspendTimeout - There have been numerous posts about using this to improve alarms. In seconds
ACSuspend - in seconds
ACSuspendTimeout - As configured from the Advanced page in the Power Settings. In seconds
ACSystemIdle - in seconds
ACUserIdle - Seems to be another "low power" state which turns off the display but comes to life faster than suspend. In seconds
BatteryPoll - in ms
BattResumingSuspendTimeout - There have been numerous posts about using this to improve alarms. In seconds
BattSuspend - in seconds

There is limited documentation here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d.../html/wce50conPowerManagerSuspendTimeouts.asp
but it is limited help.
A bit more documentation on the states is here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...dk5/html/wce50conExampleSystemPowerStates.asp
What would be nice is if we cound develop some documentation which allows us to configure the power states, and identify what devices are on or off.
There is another section \\HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State which contains the various states and what power mode the device should enter.
You can add exceptions, which is what is done in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/vie...days=0&postorder=asc&highlight=wm5+ring+delay
for the wav device (the WM5_Ring_Delay_Patch_PM-v1.2.zip file does this) by simply listing the device, for example wav1: and for the value putting the state that you want it to enter (0 = on, 1 = user idle, 2=system idle, 3=suspend, 4=suspend + NDIS mini ports)
I am playing with the settings now and if I find out more will post an update.
Geoff
Actually, this is really interesting find. Imagine controlling the device's power states, it can help to solve some problems, especially:
- wifi resume (BA)
- bluetooth connection loosing during stand-by (BA)
- push mail via wifi (BA)
I'm going to try to start working on getting to the bottom of the BA bluetooth "wake up" issue. Keep posting back anythink you find on this issue as this could greatly help out. I'm going to read up on all of this and look around to see if there is anything else that could be of help.
Any update or new finds on the BT wake up issue anyone?
Guys,
Got the Trinity yesterday and I love it, got the white one by the way and its a killer! Everythings fine and up and running except one little thing which is annoying me.
Usually on PPC's such as the Imate Jam, K-Jam and other HTC devices, when you set a password for the device and you set the "Prompt if device unused for" to 0, usually it allows you to work with the PPC for as long as you like and only asks for the password when you switch it on from the stand by mode.
But this is not the case. It still times out after 1 minute (even though I set it to 0 and not 1 minute time out) of inactivity and requires me to enter the password! If I wanted this to happen then I would've set it to time out after 1 minute!
The only way around this problem is to set the time out to a fixed number of minutes, 5 for example. This works but when the device comes out of stand by mode, it no longer asks for the password! Unless of course 5 minutes have passed!
I would like it to let me do my work, read ebooks etc, when the PPC is on and even if I leave it on the table for a few minutes, I dont want to come back and find that its been locked and requires a password!
I only want it to ask me for a password when I switch it on out of the stand by mode!
Tried to explain the best I could...hope you guys understood that.
Anyone else notice this or am I the only one?
Thanks in advance.
Hi DeadCell,
I have experienced this problem too.
I think I found out the solution here in this great forum but I forgot exact heading and title. However, I still remember the workaround because whenever I hard-reset my machine due to ROM upgrade etc, I will do it again.
So below are the steps,
1. Goto Settings and select Lock
2. Under the "Prompt if device unused for", select "0 minutes"
3. Close it then use any Registry Editor that you have and I believe you should have one. If not you can try Resco(commercial) or TotalCommander(Free), and open;
a) "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" then
b) "Comm" then
c) "Security" then
d) "LASSD" then
e) "AE" then
f) "{50C1337-C66D-400C-889E-C316FC4AB374}" then
g) change "AEFrequencyType" from whatever value there to "2" then
h) change "AEFrequencyValue" from whatever value there to "0" then
i) close and save the changes.
j) for best result, wait for one minute for the data to be safely writtem into the registry, then
k) use any 3rd part software that can do soft-reset to reset the phone. DO NOT USE THE RESET BUTTON BY PUSHING YOUR STYLUS IN THE SMALL HOLE FOR NORMAL RESET.
l) that's it.
If you set your phone to turn-off after one minute, then It will ask you the password that you set in the "Lock" whenever your turn it ON again. However, when you charge or use external power or connect it using USB cable to sync, your machine will not goes off unless you set you phone to turn OFF after whatever minutes. The ask for password only occurs when you turn your devices from OFF to ON.
Remember: this is only achievable if you do this;
"2. Under the "Prompt if device unused for", select "0 minutes"
Kindly follow the instructions accordingly and you will get what you want.

morisa
Thx for the tip cause my trin auto locks on after 30min in navigation software, not really easy
Yep, aspecially during navigation it's extremely annoying...
It's a known 'bug' of WM5, where M$ decided for us that it's a lot safer this way when you leave your device unattended (for instance when it's docked).
The suckers at M$ obviously somehow 'forgot' that these things are being used for navigation as well, where this time-out to the password screen only hinders normal operation...
I'm afraid you'll find more of these universaly stupid 'decisions' by M$ in the WM5 OS...
This reg-hack is a nice solution though... It works tops for me, but however there should be noted that whenever you go into the password settings dialogue again, all will be reset to the way M$ devised for us. So that means you'll have to do the reg-hack again...
oh yes, don't have to to return to params !!
Thanks for the tip Dead Cell.
Just for reference, I'm using a Touch HD with WM 6.5 (Miri's ROM v23), and the problem was still there, but this fix worked a treat.
Thanks again man.
Having a bit of trouble with my one, i have unlocked it and flashed it to generic rom...but whenever i put in any sim card it says 'sim lock'......any advice?

Hello,
Tried as instructed on ATT Tilt2 couple of times but it didn't work for me. Tilt2 has WM6.5 running on it. Would there in any change.
thanks///Majid
Hello,
usually with newer PDAs - that originally come with WM5/6 - you can turn them off completely (makes sense during the night for example).
Is this possible with BlueAngel - upgraded with WM5/6 (Helmi) somehow ?
thank you.
no you cant turn them off 100%
windows mobile was made to keep running
no matter what to keep the clock running
to keep notifications being able to start and play their alarm
and to turn on to let calls come in

It makes sense to stop PDA completely if you are using it just for word, excel or as a music player, but if you are using it as a phone, clock and alarm unit, instant emails, then you cant turn it off completely though it can go to Power Save mode.
Turn down the volume, turn on flightmode and put into standby. Of course, alerts and notifications can still occur (That's the point!) but they won't bother you.
There's no actual need to turn it off completely.
hello,
i would like to turn off completely since
- every time when a notification comes up - the screen turns on - and sometimes it happens that i hit the screen or a button in the pocket ...
- i'd like to save battery
but i guess that's not pissible ?
thank you.
Yes, it is possible, but not the way you would like it: Take the battery out for a second, and then put it back. Device won't turn itself on. So far this is the only method. This device was never meant to be used with WM5/6, that's why it does not support many of the required features of this OS.
Hello,
i like the idea with the akku. but one more thing: what about the internal backup- akku ?
when i take the (normal) akku out - and put it back in - does the device run on the backup-battery until i turn the device on - or does it recognize immediately the (normal) akku is there, and uses it ?
you know, or do i have to try ?
thank you very much.
andreas
Take the battery out to save battery life - you'll lose some settings (namely the clock) but nothing major. Though the standby life is good.
Also, lock the device and tell it not to allow any other button pushed when locked. Should do the trick

As others said - turn all radio off in the comm manager. then just lock the screen (on to today screen, tap on "Device unlocked"). Now, even if the device comes on, there's no problem. And battery consumption is minimal, I think. Oh, and change "Start-Settings-Buttons-Lock" to "Lock all buttons expect power button".

Hi,
On my blackberry I have an option to Shutdown and wake back up the device at a certain hour. I miss that option on my private Elf... Does this software exist on wm6 ?
Thanx
When i lock the screen (s2u or default mode) with the button on top, the internet also seem to hang. My phone is configured to download my mails every 15 minutes, but it does not work until i unlock the screen. Anyone knows how to solve this problem? Using the default ROM.
This is common. For many, their HD comes with certain power management features enabled. In short, your HD likely disconnects from the internet when you put your phone into standby as an attempt to conserve battery power, which is why your email doesn't check until you wake the phone up and it reconnects. I believe this is your issue. If your handy with a registry editor try this: HKLM\Comm\PPTP1\Parms\DisablePowerManagement DWORD=1. Then exit the registry and softreset.
Or you can install Schapps Advanced Config and disable PPTP under his "Power Management" drop down.
Hope this helps
I've checked that setting, but it's already on 1. I think i already disabled it a while ago, when i tried to fix this issue.
Might be a stupid question on my part, but in phone settings do you have a data tab? For one reason or another, some do some don't. You may already be aware of this so please bare with me if you do, but there is a box in that tab that gives you the option to disconnect data in standby. At least there was for me on the default rom.
Another thought is to install Schapps Advanced Config, and under power management, instead of disabeling only PPTP, disable all of them and see if your data connection remains active in standby. If it does, then you can go back and enable each one until you find the culprit. It may also be helpful to assign a sound to "data connection established" and "data connection disconnected" under settings "Sounds and Notification" so at least you can hear a sound when your data disconnects in standby and also count how many seconds it takes to do that. There is also a timeout setting in the power management for battery power and AC. You might want to see if those help. In the past I set both to 60.
Also HD tweak has a setting that allows you to keep your data connection on "always". If it stays on doing that then at least we know it wasn't a power management issue.
Last thought: is there perhaps some software or a lock program you have installed that might be causing this?
I'm out of ideas. It seems like something simple that I'm not thinking of. If I do, I'll post it.
Always on mode does not solve it, will try the other program. Thanks for the help!
edit: nothing seems to solve it. I guess i will try to update to WM 6.5 custom rom, what is the most used version? (i'm new to custom roms)
