Google Android on HTC Prophet - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 General

Anyone knows if its possible?

Any updates please? would be really nice if i could run android on my prophet.

take a look at http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/wing-linux/wiki
still not running fully but getting closer.

http://friendfeed.com/husseinerol/6d58a78c/android-htc-prophet-de-1-download-rar-2-extract
take a look here. I'm currently at work so I can't test it. Pics look quite good.

Have you tried this yet?
does the android run well on the phone, do you know if the wifi works, phone works etc

veeeeeeeeeeery slow

any updates?
does anyone have any updates on the wing-linux project?
i noticed it's not really an active project anymore, sadly... but i'd really like to see any version of android fully working on the prophet.
maybe we could get some of the guys from the vogue forum to help out, since the hardware is so similar and they got android fully working and even froyo running smoothly.
is there any way of using some source code from the linwizard project to get the radio working on the prophet?
i'll be happy to test out any ideas. i have some programming skills, if that would help, but i have no experience with linux kernel or driver stuff.
please keep the old prophet alive

Who wants to make some cash?

Here's the deal.
I need someone in the US to update my just purchased SX56 to windows mobile 2003 and I would also like to get the digitravel GPS. I will buy that separately and mail the machine to them and if they could do the upgrade that would be great. As far as the digitravel, I would like to have that set up so I can use the phone at the same time as the GPS, and have the power sources done the most efficient way as listed on all the forums. Let me know if anyone is interested in doing this and what they would charge. You guys are sitting here soldering and stuff and I can't even get my windows media player to play mp3's. I don't consider myself computer illiterate, but I am certainly getting frustrated w/ this thing!!!!

I upgraded to WM 2003 by going to this site:
http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org
He's German, and his instructions in English take a very close read, but his "WM2003 Final" Version A.30.09 ENG brought me up to Microsoft Pocket PC Version 4.20.0 (Build 13349).
Seems to be working mighty fine.
All the best, Carey
Leaponover, the digitraveller was a great idea at the time, however prices fo gps units have fallen dramatically and you are making work for yourself, just buy an off the shelf gps that is made for the job, a haicom 204e or 203e, or any other cheap unit will work great and you wont have the problem of charging the xda becuase they all come with dual charging/power cables.

magneto for 2i?

any development on 2i???
What would happen if....
Hi,
I'm soon to receive an XDA IIi, and wonder what is the reason why one couldn't just stick WM 5.0 on it? What would happen, would it just refuse to boot up, or would it only not work 100%? Has anyone tried, or should I be the first guinea pig?
Thanks,
Truthiswithin
somebody tried it on a magic and it just said wrong model id something something
and would not even begin install
roms have to be 100% the same device in order to work so the leaked
himalaya beta 2005 rom cant work
Editing the Rom?
Thanks for the reply... but I don't quite get how this all works, couldn't you just modify the ROM to work with the Magician?
Would it make a difference that the XDA IIi is so much similar to the Himalaya? How do HP and Dell propose to offer upgrades for their machines? How will they modify the ROM, or will Microsoft do it for them?
Thanks again,
Truthiswithin
HTC gets the source from ms and include all the spcefic drivers and settings for their devices
then they pass on a basic rom to tmobile and o2 and all those critters
then they add all their stuff and release it
i've yet to see anybody porting a rom themselfs even though some people were looking into it back in the early xdaIIs days to try and get 2003SE to xda2 as far as i know they dident have any success
and xdaIIi just looks like xda2 they are not all that similar under the hood
with the wifi and the different cam and different cpu and .....

what's the most suitable WM6.1 ROM for me? ^ ^

hi guys, I bought a BA recently, & I found this forum, HEAVEN!!!
I:
-play a lot of mp3 through earphone, TCPMP is my only player
-run on 3600mAh battery, battery life is my life
-play video clip @ <500kbps occasionally
-share file with other devices & active sync through BT
-do simple phone operations like sms & calling only, not using BT headset or what
-want stability
or which rom has least problem (& what are they?) apart from being free from any problems related to the above?
thanks for any possible guidance
generally, our WM6.0 or 6.1 is designed for latest handheld with vga screen, higher speed, better hardware so each ROM has its own characteristics... you should do trial and error... practices make perfect bro...
cheers
evo
PS:dont worry of making mistakes.. all the information that you need is here.. happy upgrading
I'm pretty new to BA like you are. What I've learned so far is that you need to try each ROM yourself and see how your device responds to it. I'm guessing that these BAs are like any other piece of computer hardware. You can have 5 devices all exactly alike and get 8 different responses as to which works best.
Some units have problems with Wifi depending on which ROM you use. That's been my biggest issue is trying to find a ROM that'll let me use Wifi without too many headaches. I've had mine for like a month or so now and I'm still flipping ROMs to compare.
Swampy just came out with a new one which I need to try, and Sundream mentioned he'll have a new one soon too. Xplode said he would a while back, but I'm still waiting on that one as well.
Unfortunately there isn't a sticky with a list of ROMs that list each person and their latest ROM. That would be incredibly handy and help clean up the forums a bit I'd think.

Linux in Himalaya

Dears,
Where I can find *up to date* information about running Linux in Himalaya ? was the project suspended or no one interested to run it anymore ?
all what I want is to be able to run linux in Himalaya and access the device as a GSM modem (I want to send/receive sms from my Desktop through Himalaya)
Thanks
A phone with the distinction of being named XDA2 needs some linux support, hopefully someone will deliver out of nostalgia
I hope by someone you mean yourself together with a group of others...
I've been interested in this for a while as well, and I'm currently working on picking up where Xanadux (allegedly) left off... If anyone else is interested in lending a hand, however small or insignificant you think it may be (constuctive criticism is welcomed), please PM me and we'll get in touch.
Android?
A stab in the dark here, but won't a lot of the developers be working on Android (or Linphone) and suchlike now? Do we think Android will be a possibility on the XDA 2? I've just dusted mine down, bought a new battery and installed it next to my iPhone on the desk. First use in three years and actually liking how responsive it is with PPC 2003 compared to my old Universal!!

rSAP for Desire

Hello all
I have HTC Desire and a VW with BT Premium Kit, which only supports rSAP.
I have been looking into forums for an application which can enable rSAP on Desire, but I have been unsuccessful in my searches.
Some say that this is working for Android 2.1 Update 1, but I was not able to pair the devices.
Does anyone have this working?
Is there any Android Apps Developer who is willing to try to do this?
Thanks
my desire works well with my VW BT
i can dial and have my contacts available
the only thing which is not working is sms
rSAP
Can you please tell me how you did it?
My VW detects my phone, but says always "phone not compatible" or something like that.
Did you get it working on the first try? Do you have RNS510?
What SW do you have on your desire?
rSAP
Ragardin rSAP for VW i can say the following:
It's not working
If u have new VW (i have Golf mk6) with new RCD/NCD 510 multimedia and u have bluetooth kit for mobile phone, Desire will not be able to be found by your/mine media system, coz android haven't this stupid rSAP protocol. I can't explain how mad I'm now about this. It has more than 10 protocols for BT, but not rSAP.
So i bought Desire today and turned it back in store 30 mins ago. This is extremely good device, but without rSAP its useless for me...
I took HD2 and i will turn it back as well btw
I hope that some1 could tell us, is the rSAP support hardware option or software. If its hw option - than it sucks...
Dear friends, please, follow the link:
http :// code .google .com
and add stars to "Issue 4402: rSAP / Sim access bluetooth profile"
Hope this action could help us.
android rSAP
yes, I already starred this issue with rSAP. It is soooo frustrating - having 2 perfect devices, desire and passat with handsfree, and they cannot speak together - really frustrating. Old parrot handsfree had no problems!
If anyone has a solution, please let us know.
are there any news on rSAP development ?
I have hope that some smart developer will figure it out, how to add it to andorid....
Best regards!
maybe this could be helpful for a developer:

Regards!
I am wondering why there is absolutely no response on rSAP development discussions?
Is it because no developer has a clue what needs to be done and if there is (even a tiny) chance to develop rsap support for Desire or is it just the lack of any interest from the side of the developers?
I am sure a lot of people would actually buy the app or upgrade that would enable this feature, so interest should be there...
I guess the main reason why nobody has written an app so far is that the necessary funtions for accessing the SIM card are missing in the Android RIL interface. So it will never be possible to write a universal rSAP app for all Android mobiles. Apart from that basic problem there are some other smaller obstacles to master. And of course you will need root access, at least to install the necessary files.
I did some reengineering on the HTC RIL lib and found a way to access the SIM card on the HTC Magic and probably on the Desire. I guess the other HTC mobiles should work too.
Next I've written a test app running on my HTC Magic that implements the rSAP protocol. It was working with an old 2G SIM card before the card expired. I tested it with a Nokia 616 and with a VW Passat. But now I'm having problems with my 3G (UICC) card. Currently I'm still not sure if I get it running but I'll keep on trying.
thank you for your answer and efforts. at least there is some hope that this will work until I sell my car...
did you use some of the Galaxy S libs?
please, keep us informed on the development!
Best regards!
No, I don't have a Galaxy.
Of course I'll let you know when I have it running. But it will take a few weeks at least.
HI rsap.
That sounds like great job!
If it worked on Magic, it would probably work on Dream/G1 as well, am I right?
If it does, would you help me out with it?
Thanks a lot in advance
it would be amazing, if you'd be able to achieve this =)
and i'm sure, people will pay or at least donate for this app! (me included)
thanks in advance!
Another user posted in this forum "Samsing just made the sourcecode (search: Samsung releases Captivate source code) so there seems to also be a ZIP file for the GT-I9000 (European Samsung Galaxy S)."..maybe this could help you further.
Regards!
I will donate!!!
i want RSAP also , any body have the solution yet? i know it works on Samsung Galaxy S but know i have htc Desire HD it only works us hand free profile!!!!
Regards!!
RSAP where are you? Any news?
You should check again the compatibility, with audi a4 mine hasn't been working but with the 2.29.405.2 it's like charm. Sends pb, received dialled calls and everything. Excellent.
It's still not working but I don't give up hope...
I know enough about the RSAP protocol, the HTC RIL lib and SIM cards. If there is someone out there who knows something about the HTC radio software, especially the AT commands it would be helpful. I could not find anything useful in the net.
Works again on my Magic! I need some time to clean up the software port it to Desire (and other HTCs) and make it installable.
I'll let you know!
WOW! Well done!
Would it be portable to G1 (Dream)?
Please, let me know.
Thanks a lot
