I attempted to upgrade and somehow bricked my 128/256 Touch. Not sure the update would've even worked here in the Europe, as it appears to be for Asia/India. Just stupid I guess.
Now it just loads up a white bar at the bottom, RUU at the top right side, a 3-color band screen with this info: .
IPL 3.07.0002
SPL 3.07.0000
Is there anything I can do, or have I ruined my Touch Is this update even something to do here, I can even get it going.
I did try the key press combo to set it back to manufacturer settings, but it winds up back at the boot loader screen. I did notice it searched for a SD card first, so I copied the .nbh file onto one hoping it would use it and update, I guess I'm going for the idiot award, as that had no effect.
pls help guys
Make sure you name the file correctly before putting it in your SD Card.
Your phone only reads the special HTC Codename .nbh file in the SD Card.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Elf_SD_Card_Flashing
As you requested, I have attached the IPL 3.10 inside, did for you everything already.
go in and open the exe and you are ready to pump!
Problem closed.
Hello Verdasco,
Make sure you flash to your stock ROM (I passed you) before starting on this.
I have attached 2 files.
Step 1) Download 'hardspl_for_elf_307_2'.zip
- Flash this first.
After flashing, do a check and make sure your SPL is 3.07.
Once it is 3.07, go to step 2.
Step 2) Download 'IPL_USPL_3.07'.zip
- After flashing that.
Make sure your IPL is 3.07, once its done.
Congrats, you are finshed.

Good people,
I thought I was stuborn and smart enough to follow your instructions to upgrade my old Tytn to WM6.1, but I think i lack the basic understanding. The only thing I am sure I have managed to do is to app-unlock the device. I also half-succeeded in installing a bootloader (SPL1.04). It shows a wonderful screen of four colors every now and then. But every attempt to go fro there to install WM6.1 or anything else (currently trying to install from SD), it goes through that screen and that is where it stops. Can you help me with the basics, what am I missing?
If the SPL on the tri-colour screen (bootloader) says 2.10 olipro you've done the best thing, if not then your in for some major hair pulling and a lot of reading...
Assuming you've got SPL 2.10 olipro & a charged battery......
1). Format an sd card fat32. Copy the .nbh file of the os you want and rename to "hermimg.nbh". Put back in phone.
2). Reset to bootloader - hold power, ok button above flywheel and reset with stylus. If you have formatted fat32 (NOT FAT) & the nbh file has been renamed properly, it should detect the flash file.
3). Follow instructions on screen....
This will fix your problem.
Cheers....
Hi All,
I have tried searching for the answer to this question and cannot find it, though I am sure I wont be the first to have had this problem.
I am trying to flash a new rom on my touch HD, have tried two different ones - duttys and black pearl. I have managed to get the upsl to work in the bootloader but i cannot get a rom to boot from the SD card. I have followed the instructions on the pages with the roms (same in each) and all i see is a screen flash up after running uspl saying "no image file" then it goes back to the bootloader screen.
In order to get out of bootloader I have to remove my battery which i assume is normal and then it goes back to the normal spl.
I am pulling my hair out on this one - and I dont have much to pull on!
I didnt think it would be so hard with all of the instructions about!
What want you do?
What stage has you done?
I wanted to load duttys rom using upsl but unfortunately I couldnt get it to work so I used the program that comes with the rom to load it in without using bootloader.
I had to load on Olinex to make it work
I had a similar thing the other day when I was having a blonde moment. Renamed the image file BLACIMG.nbh, instead of just BLACIMG......so the actual file name when I looked in to it was actually sitting as BLACIMG.nbh.nbh
Once I'd deleted the .nbh extension out of the file name I renamed it worked.

Did you remove storage card before entering Bootloader screen? Put storage card in after Bootloader is up and before opening USPL.
USPL HowTo
Sorry to ask again.
I had the same problems.
As I couldn't do with USPL (just did not find reasonable step-by-step instructions), I used OliNex HardSPL which worked fine.
But now with new ROM updates, I face significant problems with display color and radio not working.
So, I actually definitely need and would like to ask somebody to take the time to post ...
step-by-step instructions on how to use USPL
PLEASE !
USPL HowTo
Obviously, I just missed out one point and needed to change another.
But for those in the same situation:
Probably only works on Windows XP, didn't work on my Vista PC.
(1) Download the latest USPL (currently 2.5)
(2) extract anywhere on your computer
(3) Go to ActiveSync properties and disable "Allow USB Connections" option
(4) Turn off your device (long press "Power" key or remove/replace battery)
(5) then enter SPL bootloader mode (tri-color)
- Blackstone: when device turned off by pressing and holding "VolDown" key plus "Soft Reset" simultaneously
- did NOT work for me: by pressing and holding "Power" and "VolDown" keys simultaneously.
(6) Connect USB cable and make sure "USB" label appeared in the white portion of the screen on your device.
(7) start / run "cmd" (DOS console) on your desktop PC
(8) Execute blac_uspl.exe in DOS window
current status and any error messages USPL encounters will be displayed in the console window.
(9) If everything goes well, your device will restart and SPL version label should read "1.15.USPL" indicating that USPL was loaded successfully.
You ever read through the USPL thread?

10. How to use it?
Download the latest USPL attached to the second post of this thread and extract anywhere on your computer.
Go to ActiveSync properties and disable "Allow USB Connections" option. Turn off your device (long press "Power" key or remove/replace battery), then enter SPL bootloader mode (tri-color) by pressing and holding "Power" and "VolDown" keys simultaneously.
Connect USB cable and make sure "USB" label appeared in the white portion of the screen on your device.
Execute blac_uspl.exe; current status and any error messages USPL encounters will be displayed in the console window.
If everything goes well, your device will restart and SPL version label should read "1.14.USPL" indicating that USPL was loaded successfully.
If SPL version does not include "USPL" or if the screen is black, soft reset and try again. If "USB" label disappeared and did not reappear, reinsert USB cable.
You can then start RUU update to flash RUU_signed.nbh. Once RUU update is completed, device will restart using regular flashed SPL.
If you want to flash from SD card instead, make sure your SD card is not inserted when you enter the bootloader originally.
SPL will try to install it and would fail if blacimg.nbh is not signed by HTC. Insert the card after "USB" label comes up in SPL but before running USPL.
You can run "blac_uspl.exe ?" to get command line parameter help. Only 1 parameter is accepted and that is the name of an SPL file you want to load. You can load an MFG SPL or HSPL. USPL automatically takes care of allowing unsigned/cooked ROM flashing with any SPL you use.

Should be just clear, isn't it? Have used it a few times, without any problems ...
No, it probably wasn't clear enough.
At least it didn't work for me.
see the changes I applied above (plus minor additions)
remove the memroy card!
the first time i tried the upgrade, it failed... because my memory card was inside the phone. worse, the mem card contains the rom upgrade file.
pls remove the memory card first.. then run the ruu update.
after which, it will state that rom is 1.15.
then can insert memory card (only if u see the USB word on your phone)
then can re-run program.. and update firmware..
I have experienced this problem where no image file was found when flashing from UPSL. I think this is some kind of random **** that happens. I have flashed countless ROM with this method and sometimes this **** just happens without any reason.
hi, how come my tri-color bootloader only shown "Serial" in the white portion of the screen? Is there something wrong with my HTC HD phone? I try to reflash the ROM thru this way since ActiveSync cannot detect my HD. My HD phone only shown battery charging whenever I plugged in the mini-USB cable into the computer.
Anyone can enlighten my issues? Thank you in advance!
I met the same issue, and I solved it by re-formatting the card using FAT32.
MOD EDIT
I'm closing this thread as dummies guide, USPL & HSPL threads already exist.
If your having still having difficulties post your query into relevant thread. I'd suggest you start with dummies flashing guide thread.

hi sir iam new in this forum plz help me my htc hd2 shows on screen software update failed it cannot connected to active sync but connected to my pc .i download its hspl and rom butt next what can i do plz help me.
Try to get it into bootloader by taking out your battery, putting it back in, and then holding the volume down button while pressing the pwr/end key.
You have to hold the vol- key while the phone starts up, then you should see a screen with a few colores bars and some info.
EXACTLY what all info is displayed in your tri-color (bootloader) screen?
i tried the same. phone is in boot loader mode butt cannot connect to hspl2 it gives error plz help me .what can i do next its spl is 2.08.0000 8G XE
Don't bother trying to flash it via ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center on your computer. If it has already failed, it will likely fail again.
Get a class 2, 4gb sd card, and erase all files and format it (FAT32).
Get a ROM that you are CERTAIN is compatible with your 1024 Leo (TMo-US) and inside the zip file you will find a file with the extension .nbh
Rename it to LEOIMG.nbh and transfer the file to your freshly formatted 4gb class2 card. (Not inside any folders, just on the card)
Take the battery out of your phone, then place the sd card into the phone.
Turn the phone on while holding the vol- button, to enter bootloader, and your phone will detect the LEOIMG.nbh file after a few seconds and ask you if you want to update your software.
Your phone will tell you to press a button to start the update. Press the button. Wait for the update to complete. The phone may reboot and flash the update again, I've had mine do that, it's okay, just let it go.
When everything is done, it should either turn off by its self, or boot up normally by its self.
If the update fails the first time, try it again.
Turn it off, take out the sd card, and boot it up normally.
If you follow these steps exactly, then you will not fail.
If you do follow thes steps exactly and the phone doesn't get all the way thru the update process, and fails, then it's one of two things:
1. You tried to flash an incompatible ROM
2. There's something wrong with the hardware of your phone, or your bootloader is corrupted.
Good luck and happy flashing!!!!!
bro thank u for give me complete detail for that butt i am confused that where i find compatibale rom.plz if u up load for me that rom and if possible how to find the file LEOIMG.nbh.plz sorry for my bad english. my phone spl is 2.08.000.and also that software windows Mobile Device Center.

OK since your SPL is 2.08, you will first need to install HSPL to your phone through your computer.
Don't worry, HSPL never fails over the computer , as ROMs sometimes do.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=347299&d=1277158888
Just connect your phone through Windows Mobile Device Center and run the HSPL program (right-click it and Run As Administrator), following the instructions the program gives you. When asked to choose an SPL, choose 2.08 HSPL.
Allow the program to work its magic, and when it is finished, go into bootloader and confirm manually that you have HSPL by looking on the bootloader screen for the name Cotulla, and it should say 2.08HSPL
Then I would suggest any of the ROMs here:
http://hotfile.com/list/588162/580b43d
Personally I would go with the Dinik one, the icons and everything are really nice looking.
Just follow my previous instructions to flash it via sd card, and you'll be good to go.
After that, go learn about putting some Android builds on your sd card in the HD2 forum, Android subfora.
Lots of fun to be had there.
Hope it all works well for you, don't hesitate to ask more ?'s if you're not sure about something
So i was trying to put android with easy android and it seemed like it worked, it said we hacked it at the end. Now the phone doesnt boot up. I even tried hard resetting any help? Do i need to flash a radio? If so how and which radio?
Full filename of anything you flashed plus tmous or regular? What does "wont boot up" mean?
Details details details.
Im tmobile US. Theres an application that does an automated process. It's called Easy Android. I dont have the link for the post but it's hear on xda. When the phone boots up it just shows the T-mobile logo.
Please tell me if you need more info.
oh right, well in taht case its almost certainly either the wrong hspl or the wrong radio.
Magldr wont start unless BOTH spl is 2.08.hspl and radio is 2.07.50 or higher , but since you have a tmous the radio must be OK, so it must be the spl
enter bootloader (phone off, hold hold keep holding voldown, tap and release power, hold voldown till tri colour screen appears) what does spl line say?
Hey
Its 2.08 HSPL
BTW i appreciate the help
in that case i'd be heading back to a stock rom, get it back to as-new and start over.
Grab either the 2.13 or 3.14 TMOUS roms and flash via sd card. that will put it back to as new, then apply 2.08.hspl - magldr - cwm - rom.(get the toolkit)
I wont have a problem finding the rom, but i just need to know how do you flash the rom, do you just enter bootloader and it auto installs?
Thanks
get the phone into bootloader mode, and make sure the computer detects the phone before you start the flashing process (i.e. running the RUU).
If the rom comes in an exe file, rename it and make the file extension .zip
Then go into the .zip file and remove the file which has the file extension .nbh
Rename this file to LEOIMG.nbh
Put this file at the root of a 4Gb or smaller sd card
Put the card into your phone and boot into bootloader (hold vol down button while booting)
Should find and flash the rom all by its self, might ask you to press a certain button to confirm, been a long time, I can't remember for sure if you have to press a confirmation button
Wait for it top finish
Make sure you have 50% or greater battery before you flash
MAKE SURE you have the correct stock rom for your phone. There are different stock roms for different HD2's depending on what model HD2 you have. Flash the wrong one you could be screwed for good
Okay, running RUU while in bootloader worked perfect.
Got the ruu straight from tmobile.
Windows 7 auto installed bootloader drivers for me.
Hi,
It's been fun installing all the various Android ROMS these past 2 years. Unfortunately the time is up for this phone and I will be moving to another one. I want to restore it back to a Windows 6.5 phone.
I tried to follow all the steps outlined by jayceooi but can't get past step 9. I have the tri-color boot screen but I don't see any where that says loading. Regardless, I tried to time it to the exact split second where it finishes loading the text on top and let go of the volume button. It just shows the word "Serial" in the bottom white box and nothing happens.
I notice that in the video, he's not using the T-Mobile HD2 (no colors on the phone buttons and no T-Mobile name on top). Do those instructions still apply?
I downloaded the official T-Mobile software and have renamed that RUU nbh file to leoimg.nbh in the root folder of my SD card. Does it matter if my SD card still has other files in it (from Android) as long as that nbh file is in the root folder?
I couldn't find much doing a search here or on Google, but do I have to uninstall HSPL? I have 2.08 which seems to be the same version shown in that video.
Thanks.

I don't think there should be anything wrong with that method for a TMOUS having given it a quick read through. If that method succeeds for you, then the HSPL will already have been reset back to the default one for the WinMo ROM you flashed. If not, then just flash a stock WinMo ROM from the bootloader as you normally would, then flash a stock SPL afterwards. It has the same effect as the one in jayceooi's guide, but it's just a little easier IMO.
dont forget sd card flashing wont work on cards bigger than 4gb
Thanks for the replies. I followed everything but still couldn't figure it out so I did the following instead:
1. Used HSPL3 tool to flash back 2.08.0000 For some reason it won't restart my phone and go into the boot loader, so I manually booted it into the boot loader and the tool kicked in.
2. Next I installed the official software ROM release by T-Mobile. Same problem. Had to boot it to the boot loader manually for this to proceed. My guess is that this is because it's not a Windows OS so active sync is not being used.
3. Crossed my fingers and it looks like everything went well. Back to WinMo 6.5 :good:
Hopefully if anyone runs into a similar situation, the above steps will work out for them also. Was banging my head on this one and with my luck, I couldn't find any 2GB micro SD cards in the house
