My Hero is connected on the UK Vodafone network and won't update the Twitter or Facebook apps/widgets. Internet browsing and weather updates work just fine. All widgets work when i'm on wifi so i know its not the phone.
If I use a T-mobile or o2 sim all widgets and apps work just over 3G.
I'm guessing its a port blocking issue at Vodafone. The customer service reps on 191 haven't got a clue what i'm talking about when I mention blocks.
Is anyone else experiancing this connectivity issue with Vodafone?
Now you mention it, I can't get facebook pictures over the vodafone network, but wifi has no problem.

What about your Twitter feed? does that work over Voda 3G? mine doesn't
I phoned them to ask if they block ports but they didn't wanna help.
Fraid I'm not a twit. It doesn't block the facebook images in the browser so it seems to me that it might just be some bug in HTC implementation (doesn't like going through voda's proxy?)
Your thoughts?
Similar issues here, Twitter not updating via vodafone. Everything else seems ok I think.
I've downloaded another twitter app, twidroid until there's some sort of solution to the vodafone/twitter problem.
Hey, any chance you can post your Voda connection settings? There might be a thing or 2 you can change.
I haven't set any of these, I only had my number ported over today....

have you tried facebook picture downloads via vodafone?
Facebook works fine, photos, posts, the works.
strange, mine doesn't work with facebook on voda, but fine on wifi.
Life was easier with my nokia 2110
Could be some sort of bug.
K3vin, have you tried deleting your password and username from the settings? It's the only thing in your settings I can think of. I've always had no problem using just 'internet' as the APN on Voda. I thought you may have had a proxy set which was interfering but you don't....
Maybe try a port number in there? 8080 or 2020 just from vague memory.
Tried removing the username and password, that just stopped everything from working!
Have spotted something else, I went to visit one of the message boards I use, a vodafone page came up saying it couldn't check if content control had been turned off. The page didn't load.
Could the sim be blocked from some services?

Eventually spoke to someone at vodafone who has a slight grasp on our question. He said the only ports which is blocked is the one for Skype.
Strange thing is I can use skype on voda, but not all of the Hero's features.
The guy at voda said there is nothing they can do. He advised me to find out who wrote the widgets and speak to them.... yeah right... voda suck
Doesn't look like there are many people with a Hero on Vodafone. It's not a deal breaker for me like, I can connect to wireless at home and work.
Same problems for me, here.
Wi-Fi is grand but Vodafone data doesn't work. Can't even browse the web.
Vodafone have basically flipped me the rod and told me to jog-on, as it's not a supported handset.

Hey All,
i dont know if anyone else is having this issue or knows which specific forum to put this into would be the best, but here goes
i have an unlocked xperia x10, voice calls and text worked right away, but i had to go into the settings in the phone and insert an APN for telus to get the 3G connection working. i found all the correct settings on the telus mobility website but i cant put a link in this post
now, the map program, google talk, the browser, youtube and the market work just great, but trying to connect to the facebook app, the windows messenger app, the weather channel/weatherbug apps as well as the movies app just come up with errors saying theres no data connection or your user name and password are wrong
the funny thing is is using that "timescape" thing that comes on this phone, i can log into facebook just fine that way, but that program is kind of silly and i just want to use the normal app.
i'm typing in everything correctly but i just cant seem to figure it out.. anyone out there feel like shedding some light on this? i've asked telus about it and they call it a "grey" phone and just refuse service. haha. woe is me
thanks in advance!
The APN settings that has worked for me are:

Before I begin, let me quote infinitybiff when I say, "You likely voided your warranty long ago. So if your phone explodes.... not it."
I recently came across a different forum that had a user that claimed these apn settings worked on his device, (it wasn't an HD2, but I had to try it) Afterwards, I attempted to send a MMS message that was almost 300kb, and it sent in less than 2 seconds on HSDPA. I also used the Xtremelabs speedtest app and scored 2328.8 Kbits/s max download, and 480.1 Kbits/s upload. On Wi-fi I only scored 1342.6 Kbits/s max download, and 271.6 Kbits/s upload.
I tested this on both Darkstones latest Froyostone sense v3.2, and BiffMod HD2 v1.1 vanilla froyo.

As far as I can tell, APN Type is possibly what fixes this problem.

Guys, if you have any other carriers, besides T-Mobile, or AT&T, let me know and i will update the post.
it works for mms (for me) but how is the stability of the connection? does it still drop a lot? wasn't sure if that was the apn's fault or ppp.

The stability is directly related to ppp, the apn just determines how it goes through t-mobiles servers. Try using BiffMod HD2 v1.1, havent had a single ppp data disconnect yet.
The main problem with MMS on sense builds is when receiving the MMS, it will be compressed to 3-4Kb because of the Desire user agent being used.
AFAIK, the APN settings won't prevent that. So while these setting may allow sending MMS fast, they won't fix the compression issue.
Also, I believe using proxys may prevent some websites from displaying correctly.

No problem dude, I'm glad I was finally able to contribute something to XDA.
I used these settings on the FroyoSense v3.2 and, my MMS is working as long as it isn't connected to WiFi.
Other than that it works like a charm.
Can anyone tell me how I can get the MMS over WiFi working? Or is it not supposed to work that way?

Thank you soooo much, these exact settings fixed my mms issue with HD2Froyo v3 !!!!!!!!!!!
I believe the MMS Proxy IP should be 216.155.165.50
That is the IP I got from the T-Mobile support site, since it's working for some it makes me wonder if MMS is not being pushed through the proxy at all.

Oh, before I forget, I already posted this on kingxklick.com, but it seems like the HD2 forums are dead over there except for infinitybiff.
I recently installed the MDJ Froyo Sense V2.4 (with kernel 2.6) on stock ROM HD2 (3.14 WWE). So far I have not encountered any major issues with the phone, but there is one nagging issue with regards to using the mobile internet.
I'm using a 3 Mobile (Hutchinson Australia) SIM card in the phone with the following APN settings, which I got from the 3 Australia website (can't remember the exact URL). There other websites which also provide the required APN settings, including http://ausdroid.net/apns/#3
Name: 3 services
APN: 3services
Proxy: blank
Port: blank
Username: blank
Server: blank
MMSC: blank
MMS proxy: blank
MMS port: blank

The major frustration for me is that I am unable to access Planet 3 services (which allow me to monitor my data usage, remaining credit and a number of other specialised 3 Mobile services, although all other websites and data services work fine (Aside from the well publicised data issues associated with the Android build on HD2). I can still access the Planet 3 services from my windows ROM, but the Planet 3 apps and widgets that I downloaded from the android marketplace are not working on the Android ROM either.
I can still access all Planet 3 services from my Windows mobile ROM (including things like "Email on 3"). Does anyone know how I might be able to resolve this issue.
Same issue here
I too have the same issue on my HD2 running the last and final darkstone froyo build with the same APN settings, but still no luck accessing planet 3 on android.
I maybe wrong, but I suspect it's a DNS issue causing three.net.au to redirect to the Calliden insurance policy webpage.
Can someone please help us to direct us in the right direction, help is much appreciated
So you guys are having the same problems. Every time I see that Caliden thing, I rage. You can access your My3 account from the 3 website, but I personally can't access it because my account has been locked. HAHA I'm assuming from inactivity, anyway I have to call and get that unlocked.
Anyway, sorry to bump an older thread, but has anybody found a solution? I'm using the MDJ Froyo 4.6 ROM btw.
At the moment I'm trying a bunch of different URLs, I'll post here if I find anything.
First off let me say I've been searching EXTENSIVELY on this issue.
I'm in the US on T-Mobiles HTC HD2 (obviously).
When I purchased the phone it had already been rooted (I believe that is the correct term). It was running winmo 6.5 along with Android on an SD card.
I haven't had the phone long but I've learned so much from this site regarding modding and such. I can NOT send MMS messages on Android (I believe I remember sending one on Winmo). I don't have a data plan and I've tried every single APN I've found. Still nothing.
I recently flashed my phone with the new MAGLDR. I used "MDJ_Revolution_HD_v._2.2_NAND". It runs pretty smooth.. Except no mms capability =(. I've updated the Radio to the most recent. 2.15~ (I think).
I've read that possibly it's the ROM I'm using. Like I said I've been searching, please bare with me on this question, but I'm a little confused on what a ROM actually is. From what I've read everything I've found is a "winmo" rom. I beleive the rom that came with my phone (note: it came from someone else, its not stock) is Energy? It's a blue logo at bootup.
Would I have better luck with the MMS if I flashed to another rom? And if so, how would that affect my android? This site is full of information and sometimes it's hard to sift through what I need and what is extra. ANY help on this matter would be greatly greatly appreciated.
Thank you

I didn't know that you could send an MMS without a data plan. Most Android builds won't send MMS over Wifi and without a data plan. Some of the new NAND builds have MMS working over Wifi.

My old Nokia would send good quality MMS without a data plan so I just assumed this would be the same. If you think this is the case then I suppose I can stop beating my head against the wall.

I knew it! How did they get it working?
There were three phones on our family plan and none of them would send/recieve MMS. I don't know what they did to get it working, however, they sent information from the cell towers to the phones repeatedly until all three phones worked properly.
2 things u need to check out is to fix the problem,
1. (Boot Android) if u are in roaming area u need to go to your settings go to wireless and networks then go to mobile networks (NOT MOBILE NETWORK) and simply click on the checkmart data roaming to enable data tranfer over roaming coverage and then go to Accesspoint names and clik on the one avaliable. ( you should now be able to send and recieve MMS messages or send them over your network.

The MMS should be setup as follows:
1. Settings --> Wireless and Networks --> Mobile Networks --> Access Point Names
2. The APN should be named "T-Mobile US"
3. Edit that or create it and the settings within should be:

Once done, back your way out, maybe reboot the phone for good measure but shouldn't be required. To test success, send yourself a picture message (mms).
Hope that helps
My Streak actually had two entries for APN's. One as above, and one called T-Mobile MMS

Thanks, but that one never worked. I heard that was for if you HAVE a data plan, seeing as how I don't I was able to use this one:

New Problem
I have all the MMS Settings set up properly. The onlu problem that I have is...
I am able to send picture messages aka MMS Messages ( I am on an unlimited messaging plan and hence the picture messages are included)
However I have problems downlading and viewing them.
Lets say my friend sends me a picture message ( a .jpg file) It shows me in the subject that there is an attachment but when I try to download it (first it doesn't even automatically downloads it when I have it set up correct )
the error message comes up " Unable to download message from __"
Can anyone help me ? I don't know how this issue started. I only remember that MMS messages used to download by themselves once before.

Can anyone help me ? I don't know how this issue started. I only remember that MMS messages used to download by themselves once before.

OK, this is dumb, but try this...
Settings/All Settings/Connections/Connections/Advanced/Select Networks
on the drop down list select T-Mobile MMS. Then, Edit. Tap & Hold on black dot T-Mobile MMS, Then Connect.

change the APN used for the Internet and toggle the moble Internet on/off
So I just flashed this ROM the other day via safestrap on my AT&T s4. im extremely happy with the rom. The only 2 issues im having are with MMS. I cant send picture messages whether im on WiFi or not. It just shows sending, then the circle sits there forever trying to send. I flashed the kernel modules and configured APN settings. However, I can receive MMS all the time.
The other issue with MMS is for some reason, when I receive MMS now, it starts a whole new conversation for that person in what looks like a group message. It displays my name and the person that sent the picture as the recipients. If there is a way to just keep it in the same conversation im having with that person, Id like to do that.
Ive spent hours looking on the forums to find someone with a similar issue or fix. No luck.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Did you flash the compatibility pack? Also, you can only send mms over movie data.
Sent from Black<3's I337 running Hyperdrive
I did not know the compatibility pack was needed for me. nor could i Find it.
Also, I know you can only send pictures over mobile data, but some users were reporting issues of not being able to send pictures while their wifi was turned on. Unfortunately, I cannot sent whether its on or off.

The compatibility link is right under the link to the RLS13 download in the AT&T Hyperdrive thread. Flash that and see if it helps.
I get my MMS fine with WiFi on, even while i was on Hyperdrive which i was for a good while (12 and 13)
Is it safe to flash the compatibility pack now? after Ive been using the phone for a few days.
Ok so I flashed the compatibility pack. It did not fix my issue, and now my wifi doesnt work at all. Awesome. as soon as I try and turn wifi on it kicks off immediately.
flash the MK2 kernel modules and make sure your APN is correct

I was able to reflash kernel modules and get wifi back. but for some reason it added Cingular and Straighttalk APN's. My data is off and on (Service then no service). Adding the APN for ATT now and will see if that fixes it.
Everything seems to be ok after re-entering the apn settings. However, Im back to square one with picture messages. Still cant send any
