Try it...you can use the D-Pad as the down button.
Or you can use the narrow strip below the D-Pad as a down button.

What do you mean? I am not talking about the D-Pad...I am talking about the narrow strip below the down button. Look carefully in the picture.
And the strip above the D pad, and the triangles left and right of the D pad. I've got 2 down, 2 up, 2 left, 2 right WTF? haha.
hmmm i noticed, but i also noticed it not physically possible to press this unless you have terminator type fingers with motion sensors lol...

No you didn't check carefully. Do you think that I am stupid to not know that the optical joystick also had a D-Pad?
I am not an idiot. What I am saying is that below the Down Button, there is Another Down Button. That Down Button is a small strip that is under the Down Button. Therefore there are three ways to input the "Down".
1) You can swipe your thumb down
2) You can press down on the D-Pad
3) You can press down on the strip below the D-Pad
There ARE no strips for the up, left, and right.
The triangles ARE the D-Pad.
The big piece above the UP button, which is labeled "Xperia" can not be pressed.
If I read your post correctly, you are pretty much insulting and undermining my intelligence. If so **** ***!

Well, I didn't figure this out by accident. Actually I would never have found this out by accident because you have the D-pad obstructing the button perfectly.
I was reading a thread about people complaining that their D-Pad was chipping off. I thought about the other buttons and the fragility of the buttons. So I saw that little strip I picked at it and pulled to see if it bent. Shockingly it does bend, and it is very elastic and prone to breakage.
Then I decided to press down with my fingernails, and there you have it, it is an alternative Down button for the D-Pad button.
Neato! How odd.
It's the same physical button, you cant click them both at the same time.
so did you think that there was a 4 way optical and then 2 physical left and right buttons but not an up and down button?
I guess it hits the same actual switch. Still it should not bend.
And the d-pad should have larger up-down keys anyway.
not an actual button its just when u press on the bottom plastic it presses the d pad down sensor.
interesting find

no its a separate button, if u hold down the button at the bottom u can still press the dpad sensor and hear it click.
I noticed the 4 buttons around the sensor as soon as i got the phone

There's only one click for me, and I don't think there's any reason to put two separate down buttons in there, so I am certain it's just the two plastic parts pressing the same button.
theres up, down, left, right and u press the sensor to select. I use it all the time in the menus
nah, 90% of all people here didn't notice that. And another few percent cannot see clearly in the picture. It's BELLOW the D-Pad. Well this was the first thing I wondered about, when I got a prototype of X1. Actualy it did have the same function as now - it presses just one button on the keyboard module, and that's DOWN. Yeah not talking about keyboard itself, but the MODULE which is located underneath the keyboard (the black one you can see all the time LOL)

D-Pad = Those triangles and the up and down parts. He is talking about the strip below the "down" part.
Optical joystick = That touch sensitive thingy in the centre.

You are confusiing the D-Pad with the Optical Joystick.
OMFG people learn to read and think. It is the same sensor that is used by the "down" on the d-pad, but pressing that narrow strip will activate it as well. Just read the OP and look at the ******* picture......
ahhh... sorry. I should have looked at the pic a little longer than a millisecond. I know what u mean now

Hello,
I have a t-mobile wing with a broken screen. I'm sending it back for replacement but i want to hard reset before i do. Ive tried doing this by watching reviews on youtube to see how the menus are laid out, but i cant seem to get it right. Can anyone give me an extremely specific walkthrough?
or better yet, would someone let me call them or call me so we can walkthrough the hard reset together?
Also, I tried using the left, right softkey plus soft reset button and i don't know where to go after there. I'm not even sure if that worked.
i did this on my mda when i had a broken screen...all i did was use the actual buttons...i pressed the windows buttons used the directional button to move up and down, went to settings, used the dirctional button to move around and went to system, then used the directional button again to go to clear storage and that was it...
Can you tell me the button combination?

2. go down with the joystick (the big directional button in the middle) and go to settings (select it with the button in the middle of the joystick)
3. using the joystick again go to system (its the second button on the bottom)
4. using the joystick again go to "clear storage" and select it with that middle button again (the one inside the joystick)
5. your done....
I have a broken screen i cant see where settings is. how many clicks down?
Or how many clicks up?

so you cant see anything??? i thought it was like cracked or something...anyways...here we go...ill try...
1.windows button
2. setting click up once, that should get you there or two clicks if you have the help button there...
3. click up once then click over right
4. click up once and down once then select that should get you to clear storage...
5. it will ask you to type the numbers 1234 and press yes which should be the button right button above the windows and phone button...
note: its a long shot because depending on where you left off last thats where the button will take you...if that doesnt work trying turning your phone off and trying it again to reset everything...
hope that helps

NICEEEEE
Thanks so much. it worked. Phew. now my tracks are covered. Not that i was over clocking or changing my page pool or anything. wink wink.
Oh and in case you were wondering. My phone dropped from my bed on to my carpet. And i don't know how it is physically possible but the screen cracked on the inside meaning when the phone is off it looks perfectly normal. But when i turn it on i get a crack and all white screen . Lame. I'm going to make them send me a new one.
I think what happened is that i charge it at night and i keep it under my pillow (vibrating alarm wakes me up) and i think it overheated and that caused the screen to crack not the 1.5 foot drop on to fluffy carpet. The phone shows no physical sign of damage.
glad i can help...

Hi!
Is it just me or is the power button real tough to press?
Has anyone thought of adding a small mod to raise this button to make it easier to press?
Any luck?
Thanks!
The left hand side of mine (as you look at the screen) is slightly raised.
Isn't yours ?
Yup, it's raised but just a little; i don't think I'm "fat thumbed" but it's really difficult to press while using just one hand.
I agree but it's not as bad as I found the Tytn II.
I've now got used to aiming at the left hand side of the HD button which is raised higher.
Of course, I often just use the stylus pull to switch on as well.
On the Tytn II I superglued a slice of cable insulation to the button. This worked fine. I used a small black cable and cut the insulation longways to the right size. It needed steady hands but was a good solution.
one good thing in other pda's is that in the settings menu was that keylock applet, in which you could have all the keys unlocked, so you can power on the device only by pressing the front keys, and not bother with the power button.
But i can not see this applet in the rom i have 1.14
Does anyone know how we can have this keylock applet again?
While it can sometimes be a bit of a pain to press I'm glad that it doesn't accidentally get pressed whilst in my pocket, I often don't bother locking it so I'd be pressing stuff all over the place.

Yes, i'm also seriously contemplating that solution
I'm just afraid that the button might get damaged because of the super glue... things might get messy

If you want a different way to wake up your device just vote....
Sorry wrong placement .... this poll should be in a general area cause it's for all and not only for the blackstone users....
Can the admins mod's transfer it?
Yes, I want another way... The POWER button on my HD is so recessed, I have to press the top of the phone a couple of times before I get it right.
I personally like the 'Shake it to wake it' method that was suggested in another thread heheheee

If device is really of it is hard to respond on other things than the power
button. G sensor is off....
If it is acceptable that off means just screen off than MobileMagic
could turn your screen on and off with moving the device FaceDown.
Yes the power button location is a design flaw
Ideal should be to able to power on with shake movment (g-sensor)
or using the volume-up/down hard button
or slide from top to bottom or from bottom to top or double tap...
mobile magic wakes the device? How?
Arty out...
Take a look at Mobile Magic

hi all
i have a problem, im left handed so the volume buttons are hit constantly...
is there anyway to deactivate this buttons? ive tried looking for an app to reprogram but i cant find one
any ideas
thanks all
JT
try using your right hand anyway, i dont think you can, as you need them to boot into fastboot and stuff :\
glue them with superglue
i just tried holding it with my left hand is so many different positions... (not an innuendo!) and didnt accidentally press the volume buttons once..
how bizarre lol
maybe its the fact i used to holding a diamond, when i grip the phone it catches the piece of my palm between the index finger and thumb.
i'll have to screen lock more i guess
Maybe this will help?:

In WM, I can do almost everything using one hand. In android, I don't see an on screen back button. The only way to go back is to use my other hand to push the camera button while right hand holding the phone. My friend has Droid and it has a on screen back button. For Vogue, is this the only way to go back? I'm trying to learn to use my right hand palm to push the camera button to go back. BTW, I'm using Myn's ROM but I think all android rom's like this. I which I can reassign other button like the cancel button (red button) to go back. How do you guys handle this?

I usually hold the phone in my left hand using the pads of my fingers. I put my left ring finger on the camera button so I just have to sqeeze to go back.
Works well, and it gives me a chance to exercise those fingers

+1 here
you will get used to it
and when i use the phone with my right hand i use the very bottom of my thumb bone to press the camera button also in a squeezing motion
haha Yeah I'm right handed but I hold it in my left hand and can use it 100% one handed even better than wm.
pinky on back button, thumb on unlock, or screen depending on what im doing
I do it with my right hand too lol.
i do it mainly one-handed. phone balanced between four fingers and palm, index finger to hit menu, shift phone slightly and use distal thumb joint to hit back. big hands, i guess.
