Guys you know where to buy the micropulsante reset I was broke?
Microphone port?
Or reset port?
Cheers.
reset port.
Wow, i think its pretty hard to find the reset port.
You might want to find it on ebay or something?
It's weird, a few years ago you could find parts for all kinds of electronics on ebay, but recently I haven't been able to find any parts for the HTC Touch other than case replacements and digitizers anywhere.
Its because of the recession and lots of factories and shops have to close their doors.
Erm.
The reset port is not too important right?
Just take out and put back the battery, it does the same thing too.
k
sure you do not need to reset?
I dont think thats needed.
If you want to do a hard reset, reflash the whole rom using the pc.
If you wish to restart device, take out the battery and pop it in again.
mic broken
by the way, where can I find a microphone for elf? Mine somehow stop working, and I can talk using headphones/mic plugged into the device, but without it people can't ear me.
Mic?
Can you find the parts online?
Ebay? Dealextreme?

Does anyone have advice on changing the touchscreen? and where to buy a new touchscreen?
Cheers.
Are you sure its the screen causing the problem? Did you try hard resetting your device?
You'll find a lot on ebay or Brando, otherwise do a google. Check the wiki for the right type first before buying especially if from ebay.
Thanks for info.
I have performed a hard reset and the screen still dead.
There are two LCD versions a gold or black cable. Do you know if they are both compatible with the Magician?
Since you are going to replace it yourself, why not dismantle your device and see what's installed.
Hi Guys!
My TyTn is acting strangely. In use, the display is first pixelating, getting lines (noise pixels as well), and then fading to completely white. When so it doesn't responde to anything anymore. So a soft reset is needed.....
Also the ringtone when called, is 'out of tune', like a old record player when you push your finger on the record.. LOL
Before I send it back to have it fixed by HTC, do you guys have any idea whats wrong, and maybe even a tip to help me fix this myself?
Tried numerous soft resets, hard reset, and a reinstall of the original WM6 rom (in Dutch).
Did not install any new programs lately, or did change anything on the unit...
Don't want to miss my TyTn... so hate to send it away... as many of you I am hooked badly to my beloved digital companion
Greetzz Antal
It acts like hardware incompatible.
How about flashing with WM6 English version.
I don't think it is software problem.
I agree, not likely to be software. It did not get dropped or take a knock did it?
The two issues of pixelation/white screen may, if you are lucky, just be a connector thats loose. The sound I think is unrelated but again sounds like a poor connection at the white rear speaker connector block - not uncommon.
Both of the above could be caused by a sharp knock. There have also been cases of poor battery connections causing problems.
If you have a warranty use it. If not you can follow the dismantling guides or service manual to dismantle - check connections and re-assemble. Be prepared though, that sending it in might still be required!!
Mike
Will send it in
Hi Guys, Thanks fr your replies.
I will take the unit back to the store today.
I am not aware that I bumped it, or neither it has dropped. May be a connection that was allready quite loose to begin with. Lets see what HTC and the store will tell me
Strange thing is, that without my sim in it, and not using it, it stays normal... Have put it aside, and used a very old phone instead, and it is still normal..

Mmmm... that's important information and changes things a bit. Could be a sim card contact or something about the sim. Anyway it tends to suggest that other thoughts about hardware issues may not be correct!
Hope you find the answer at the store.

hi!
i have a SPV M5000 (htc universal) and it suddenly, the microphone stoped working.
the other people doesn't hear me, but i heard them. it cant record nothing, but white noise.
first i soft-reset, then hard reset and then flashed a new rom.... it keeps the same.
i dissassembled carefully and i noticed the microphone is soldered in the board and seems to be very hard to replace.
questions: is better and cheaper sending to repair or trying to get a used motherboard?
question2: where can i get a used motherboard.... i googled for it, and seems to be hard to get one.
or forget the universal and try to buy a new one device (but i am without money )
thanks!
did you use your headphone jack?
there is a possibility that the micro-switch in the jack is stuck.
i have disassembled it.... i dont find nothing stuck...
but how can i check it for sure?
i bought a screen damaged htc universal and replace the motherboard - problem fixed!
Anyone else had this problem yet? Had mine since Oct. 4th
I didn't try to do a data wipe. Just took it to T-mobile for a replacement. Didn't want it to start working again because I had got a scratch on my phone anyways and it was a good opportunity to get a replacement.
Me too. When I use my headphone, people on the other line can't hear me. This happen more than once. I try to do a hard reset but it still don't work.... anyone have any solution.

My issue was the microphone on the phone. Did you not buy from T-mobile or other authorized outlet? Your phone should be within warranty.
Another thing to try would be a Data wipe/factory reset.
Another thing I noticed is that when I charge my phone there is an LED in the earpiece. My last G2's LED must have been defective.
Hi, what happen if you buy the phone from craiglist, how can I return ?

Contact HTC about warranty service I guess. I don't understand why someone would sell the phone on craigslist when it is within the 14 day return policy for tmobile where you can get a full refund unless maybe it was stolen.
You can contact HTC here: http://www.htc.com/europe/CA_Hotline.aspx?region=NorthAmerica
I'm just speculating here, but it's based on past experience with flexible connectors like the one used to bridge the display portion to the body. I'm surprised to see the possible defect occurring so early in life of this handset, but the fact that the ribbon is forced to bend back 180 with a radius of less than 1mm when the display is open puts a LOT of stress on the thin conductors of the ribbon. The problem might have been precluded by HTC using carbon traces rather than typical metallic copper on this critical component. See for yourself by looking at your phone edgewise next time you flip it open. If we're lucky and enough handsets fail like this HTC MIGHT do something of a product recall. Incidentally, has anyone with a dead mic also experienced random screen garbage or erratic touch response? Again I point to the same design flaw.
Here's to hoping I'm dead wrong guys!
This problem just happened to me. With no apparent reason, the internal speaker stopped working. People can hear me, but I canĀ“t hear anything.
Funny thing tho, if I activate the external speaker, it works. The problem is the internal speaker only.
Is it a known problem like the shoddy usb connector on some kaisers ?

dont say anything to tmobile about where you bought it from. there is a one year warranty the original date of purchase. at least there was with the motorola cliq that i got off craigslist. returned it for a fab'd one without scratches gonna do it one more time right before the year is up haha
My G2's mic has also stopped working, been looking around different websites for parts, but I can't seem to find it, u guys know anyone?
If I use it with the headphones/mic, it works fine, people hear me and all. If not, people can't hear me.
FWIW, I had this exact problem shortly before Christmas. the mic started by cutting out sometimes, then failing altogether. Using an external mic worked fine so it wasn't software, just the physical connection to the built in mic. I'm pretty sure that sivalley is right in his speculation that the issue is the flexible ribbon connector.
Fortunately for me my phone was under warranty and HTC arranged to pick it up etc.
Weirdly the day before they were due to pick it up, the whole screen stopped working. I could power up and feel the vibration etc, but the screen never came on. Again I think the common factor was the flexible ribbon.
When HTC repaired it it came with a long list of things they'd replaced to get it working again, so it may not be as simple as just replacing a ribbon connector.
I have no idea whether it's possible to source the parts, but it might be worth finding out how much HTC would charge to fix it if it's not under warranty (could still be a good deal)
Hey guys so the other day the power switch broke off inside my tablet! so i took it apart to see if I could repair it. But the prongs broke off right at the base of the switch! So I was wondering if anyone knew what switch they used so I could maybe buy a new one? or my other option was to buy a tablet off ebay that has a broken screen and replace the motherboard. But I found some that are in perfect condition but have a password from the previous user. and i was thinking that maybe I could do a factory data reset? If that possible i think i saw a post yesterday on how you can do it without custom recovery just want to know what yall think! THANKS
I've had this problem...looked on digikey database but couldn't find a replacement. you could add a external flat button but I find it hard to believe that you will find the OEM replacement easy... maybe posting on HW forum will help. Anyway, let us know if you find a replacement.
