picking up the phone takes time

I have the german T-Mobile MDA-Pro with D1. (whytf can't I specifly that in my profile ?) I experience some strange thing with it. When I pick up the phone when someone calls me (by pressing the green phone button) it takes a while until the other side can hear me.
So whenever I answer a call (by pressing that green phone button) I will have to wait 5-8 seconds after the buttonpress until I say something or else the other side wont hear what I say and still thinks I havent answered the phone yet.
Yes! indead...I've got the same problem. is it a software bug?
I too have the same problem, and sometimes it hangs up the call even when I press the green button.
I've posted before and everyone has said 'Use the search'...I have and can't find anything relevent (don't think the search facility of this is very good).
Can someone PLEASE point us.
I really do miss the speed and efficiency of my XDA2s!
I have had some experience of this, it does delay mine was worse before I got rid of all th O2 tat, it is now liveable with, however it is cutting off when I press the answer button !!! OR IS IT after conducting tests using another mobile I found out that
1) the phone does not take very long before O2 divert the call to Voicemail
2) the phone starts ringing long before you know anything about it (its worse if the phone is asleep) it can be a good few seconds before it makes any indication noises
3) it carries on playing the ringtone after the call has been diverted which gives the impression that pressing the answer button is futile.
I have talked to the technical suppport of t-mobile germany and they told me they era aware of this issue and they will be releasing an update in Q12006 that will resolve this issue.

I too have this problem and for the moment while i await any future fixes from O2 or others, i am using the following short-term fix; Under phone settings I have changed the delay period before calls are forwarded to ansafone if unanswered (this works on O2 anywa). One problem with this is that callers may give up before they are diverted to ansafone if you set the delay too long
did this really resolve the issue I was talking about in my initial post ? (that when I pick up the phone by pressing the green button the caller can not hear me for the fist 10 seconds )
I have XDA Exec and kept getting confused why my GF always sounded confused and puzzled when I answered the phone, Id say "hello" and she would wait a while, then say "Hello? you there?"
I never realised it was MY phone that was cutting off my voice at the start of the call.
In regards to the delay ringing, and answering etc, I am giving all my friends instructions to bloody well keep ringing! I turn answerphone off normally as my phone is always on. If you want to speak to me, keep ringing till i answer, if I dont want to talk, ill reject the call.
Why ring twice and hang up? I could be doing anything that takes more than 2 seconds to get that damn phone out of my pocket, get it out the case, open it, see who is calling, press the button, damn, missed call.
Same problem here. I am seriously thinking about using this as just a PDA. I don't think it's practical to use a phone that only works some times. Somebody on HoFo said that the Universal isn't meant to be used as a phone, it can, but it isn't meant to be. I'm starting to agree.
I just like the idea of not having to carry around a phone AND a pda. I kind of hoped that's what the universal offers. But it kind of looks like it doesn't ...
Its a great phone when used as a hands free device, answers almost straight away, and has great volume unlike most hands free - my callers also comment that the line quality is excellent even if a few metres away from the phone.
I do always feel stupid though when using the phone as a standard phone, would feel more comfy putting a brick to my head.
I use the old phone ringer as my incomming call notifictaion and I hear my phone in plenty of time. The standard o2 incoming notification sound was useless. I don't know what T Mobile have but might be worth trying a different notification sound.
Cheers

Did anybody found a solution for this? this is very annoying.
Agreed, its just ridiculously slow - I worry whether or not I've hung up on people too, it takes a good few seconds before the line is actually dropped, let alone for the interface to update.
I've stopped using the "suspend" option and the phone seems to work like you'd expect (even on a cheap cell phone!). But the battery life is suffereing. Hopefully my new spare battery should be here soon.

You mean I should walk around with some spare batteries in my pockets.
I think my pockets are too small for so many things.
Does anybody knows if this problem is known to HTC? Is there going to be an update?
It isn't possible that a phone doesn't act like a phone in these features that are already working 100 years. I want to pick up my phone and talk immediatly
By the way how do I switch off the "suspend" mode?
What is the "suspend" mode and how do I switch it off?
Look at Settings>Systems Tab>Power>Advanced Tab
Uncheck to "Turn off device if not used.."
This will stop the "suspend" mode
eeek ! Now I know why I would need an extra battery ....

Unable to receive incoming calls

Hi,
So I have a major problem with my Exec and wanted some advice before doing a full reset. When I get an incoming call I hear it ring once at most and then it seems to hang and push the call through to voicemail. Is this a known bug ?
Also when the phone was working I could never answer a call when the phone was closed - when I open it and click on answer 100% of the time the caller had be pushed through to voicemail.
Thoughts?

@monkeyleader,
which mode are you using? I use Corporate mode and I have not had any problems (did have problems with the phone on my JJ however).
Also, make sure you don't kill the "phone" process with the o2 task manager in the non-Corporate modes.
Its in corporate mode as far as I know - this was working, and indeed it does ring, Im just unable to answer the dam thing
Nige
@monkey
I assume you've tried the SIM in another phone to check that there are no problems with the SIM
@jah
either in Corporate, basic, personal, if u kill the phone.exe proces it will do those problems, but his problem si probably the SIM card
HowlingWolf

@fakbrenjeri
as far as I know the O2 Task Manager is not available in Corporate mode.
Problem with the SIM ?? Surley not and just to confirm I put the sim in another phone and it worked perfrect.
So for example Im sitting with the phone in the closed position. It rings .. I open the phone and swivel the sceren into portrait mode ... I try to hit answer and it doesnt seem to respond ....

I have exactly the same problem , getting a bit frustrating and costly as I am currently missing loads of calls and having to ring the people straight back ! so in effect I am paying for my incoming calls !
Going to throw it back at o2 tomorrow

Strange incident - active call interrupted by busy signal

Hello everybody,
I recently had a very strange experience with my Vodafone VDA Compact GPS (this device is identical to HTC Trinity). I've talked to some friends of mine who know about mobile networks and Windows Mobile but it seems, I'm the only person who ever had this particular problem.
Here's what happened:
I had called a friend. He had picked up and we were talking so the call had already been established.
All of a sudden, during our conversation, I start hearing a busy tone from my phone. I'm still hearing my friend so the busy signal came out of nowhere parallel to the active call.
I check my phone display and it now shows two separate calls. First it says "Busy" and underneath this it shows the call with my friend (his name and the seconds counting).
In other words it looked as if my phone on its own accord had tried to call someone else during my call and was now getting a busy signal.
I asked my friend if he could hear the signal but he heard nothing.
Then the next strange thing happens. After 10 seconds of this then the phone software shows the call being finished. Meaning in the display I could see "Last call - my friend's name" and the "call" icon was back to green. I even tried pressing the "call" icon but nothing happens.
Only the call isn't really over. Although the display says otherwise, the call is still ongoing and I can talk to my friend for another 15 seconds or so before the actual call is suddenly interrupted.
In other words, the software is showing that the call is over but it really isn't. And the whole incident was caused by a busy signal that came out of nowhere.
After this incident I call customer support but they insist that I didn't call anyone else at the time.
As stated above, I've not been able to find anyone who has ever even heard about this particular malfunction let alone who could explain to me what might have been going on.
Has anyone here ever had the same or a similar experience or can anyone explain what might have happend?
I really hope somebody can help me out here.
/peter
Hmm, still no answers.
Maybe I should clarify my question. What I'm wondering is if anybody has experienced the same problem?
And/or if there's somebody out there who knows about these things whether this strange incident was most likely caused by a software malfunction on the device or any kind of network glitch....
I was told this forum is where the best of the best gather. So where do I find an answer if not here?

standby when ending call via BT-headset

Hello there,
has anyone an idea how to realize this:
blackstone is in standby - bluetooth is activated - bluetooth headset is on - both connected - call comes in - I take the call with the bt-headset - talk - I end the call with the bt-headset - blackstone remains on until the adjusted time for standby is reached
but I would like the blackstone switch into standby mode immediately after ending the call
is this possible ?

This needs addressed - sleep after a call during headset mode
In headset mode the phone does not go into sleep mode or power off automatically after a call. This is a major issue for those of us who leave the phone in the pocket in the car or when using bluetooth headsets. I have finished calls recently and then 5 or 10 mins later my phone would connect to someone random in the phonebook whilst driving which is quite embarrassing "I didnt call you" - "yes you did"!!
In the meantime I am using constant device lock but this is a clumsy solution for what surely MUST be a common problem. Can anyone else not help us out and try to get the device to sleep after a call during headset mode? I would be so grateful for a useful solution that doesnt involve a constant device lock that I dont really need!
Cheers
I'm having the same problem also....
The list grows - surely there must be others out there with the same problem. We should try and get out heads together to crack this one!

Sounds good man, keep up posted. Its a major issue for me too!
ok folks .. here is the very annoying answer i got from htc support
You recently wrote us about an issue that you have encountered with your HTC Touch HD. There is only one way to instantly set the device into standby mode: please press quickly the power on/off.
what shall i say ... THAT'S CRAP !!!
and i'm still thinking that there must be a workaround ... redefining the buttons or something like that ... any ideas from the specialists in here ?
c'mon guys - help us out here

that's really strange...just tested it.
connection htc/jabra bluetooth.
htc device lock ON.
an incoming call arrives, pick up the call via bt-headset. end the call via bt-headset. phone is immediately locked again (htc own device lock), display is on. after 1 minute also the display turns off.
or do you mean something completely different?
Same here and it feels retarted.
Ooe of the major purposes of a bluetooth headset is to avoid contact with the device. So having to take out the phone or handle it (in a car/office whatever) after a BT call is rediculous.
BT headset drops call
I am not sure if I should pose my questions here but my Jabra BT headset is connected to my Blackstone on standby mode via BT. However, when an incoming call comes, the BT headset does not get the call but is transfered to the HTC handset instead. I have no problems making outgoing calls on the Jabra headset. It's frustrating when I am driving... could anyone tell me how to remedy this?
Thanks in advance.
end call via BT into standby works with LockMeLite
hello there,
with LockMeLite http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=478606 and my samsung wep250 bt-headset
it works
this headset is non-a2dp-capable
dunno if an a2dp capable headset will work, but will test is (next week)

I have tried flashing newer fancy roms and tried various lockers but no applications are intuitive enough to fix this simple fault. When making a call in 'headset mode' the fast sleep mode prevents accidental presses during a call. Unfortunately when the call is ended via handsfree/car kit/recipient, the phone wakes back up to life.
Any locker I have used is active indiscriminantly when pressing the power on button to wake the device from sleep. I have tried lockmelite, hd tweak for inbuilt MS lock, pocketshield and another locker however none have the function to only lock the device whilst in headset mode and after a call has ended. This is a request to developers, expert cooks and modifiers please can anyone help us out?
Thanks a million
Check this, it can do the trick...
h..p://www.pocketshield.net/default.htm
S2u2 V2.04 workes fineas you needs, even look during a call (gives black screen)
I'll do a try
As I have the same request/problem I'll try the following with the help of AGEProfile.
- I create a profile actived when the headphone is connected, when this profile is activated it launches a program named MySuspend so my phone is suspended.
- I create another profile activated when the headphone is connected and there is a call in progress, this profile does nothing but it exists (only)
So when my phone goes connected with the headset (BT) it goes suspended.
When I receive a call it wakeup as normal and the profile is switched to the second one (but does nothing)
When the call finishes, the first profile is activated again and the phone goes suspended.
That's all (and it should work, I just made the setup for that).
Regards,
P.S. sorry for my english because it's not my language.
I also have this same question. After ending the call the screen stays unlocked and will inadvertently call a number sometimes.
I tried
Yes I made a try yesterday evening in real conditions and it work very well
So I'm very happy
I forgot to mention that I also use the Inesoft to have the screen locked when one call come in.
Hope this will be useful for you too
Regards,

i have the same problem please help the ringing will drive me crazy!!!!
I also have the same problem.Any ideas for this??
Sr for my bad english.
Who said you to put a 5min mp3 as message tune or anything longer than 4 sec :S.
Go edit it first, then put it.
I am using Shine, so stop thinking that you wont know when you get a message because you'll, as i do easily. If you have plans to show your neighbors that you got a message then be my guest...

I think that counts as rude...
I believe that there are situations where by you leave your phone in the bag, or another room and won't get to hear the incoming message and it'd be nice to have the ringtone ring until you hear it.
Just that you don't want it to continue ringing when you pick it up and start reading the sms while listening to the ringtone...
Editing the ringtone to 3 to 4 seconds doesn't help... Gothik, I think u're being very narrow minded and stereotyping...
If you dont like something/doesn't please your 'mind', that doesn't mean i am being rude or whatever is that stereotyping thing.
and every sane one knows messages ring-tone should be short, not full songs.
Certainly i am no girl and have no experience with haivng a phone in the bag :S...
On other hand i tried it, works fine on my cell, so flaw in your ROM.
