Increase backlight brightness? - Shadow General

Hello,
I just traded my old phone for a Shadow, my wife has a Shadow and I thought it was a great phone. I did notice that the backlight overall on mine is about half of what hers is though. I've put 6.1 on the device, but it was like this when we both had the stock TMO ROMs. It is really reallyu hard to see in the sunlight.
The D-Pad light does not light, and the keypad and screen is like I said about half power of what my wife's is. The D-Pad issue leads me to think that the previous owner hacked the registry to lower it, increasing battery life. Is there a registry hack I can apply to increase it again?
Thanks in advance!

I wanted one to lower the brightness! To me it's too bright to sleep with.
And it seems like it's draning my batteries a whole lot.
Like he says,
Thanks in advance!

Universal -- Differences in Screen Brightness

I got my JJ a few days back. Now one of my friends has also got his JJ. I can see that his screen is more bright than the one on my JJ although both have been set to full brightness.
I am not saying that the screen on my JJ is bad but what bothers me as to why even this minor difference. His unit came with the English ROM and mine with the Arabic ROM but this should not make a difference. Do you think these are minor differences during manufacturing.
Differences during manufacturing. The only influence in screen intensity that I have been able to establish while reviewing the Universal is when the keyboard backlight switches on. The screen then reduces in brightness ever so slightly, as if the Universal would not be able to generate enough power at that moment.

It may be the difference between Sony and Samsung LCDs.
@Cr2
You mean HTC is using LCD's from Sony or Samsung and it is a question of what is installed in my Universal. Am I right?
Thanks for the reply if the above is correct it will give me a great satisfaction that at least something is not wrong with my device. As I said the screen on my device is not bad only it is not as bright as my friends
Thanks

Visibility of screen under sunshine

Hi all guys!
Anyone has tested the screen visibility under sunshine?
I have an HTC Touch and it's horrible...
Thanks!
It is visible but I won't say it is terrific. If it is not too good, I just need to tilt it a little and the screen will contrast and brighten.
Its horrible sometimes i think my phone is off..
I can barely make out the time in huge numbers
Actually this is another area that impresses me... I tried this out when I first got the phone and it is very readable/seeable... even in full sunlight I can see the screen... much better than my Kaiser/MDA Vario III

What screen settings are you using -- this thread includes responses that range from 0 to 10 and I suspect there are differences in settings. For exampled, have you turned off your screen autodimming feature?

I have left it on the Auto feature... at first I thought my phone had a glitch as the screen kept going dim... but it works really well... I also tried it in full light (by trying to reflect the indoor light to make the screen as obscure as possible, had to be indoors as its raining like a mother here) and even though the screen did become less readable I could still read the book I had in ubook... a plus for me...

What he said!
maybe with a nice screen protector you may see something
I have the anti-glare one and I don't expect to see a bright screen in the afternoon
but maybe some screen protectors may help although I doubt it
it is really visible (if I'm not putting my sunglasses on), i was really impressed when i first got the phone. just make sure you set the auto dimming on.

I use martin fields screen protector and its great, so maybe that does have something to it...
uh, did you guys set the backlight to auto adjust? I mean at first I knew to save battery life I had to manually adjust the backlight 2nd to the dimmest. but I coudln't see anything while under direct sun. but somehow, on auto adjust, the backlight seem to work under it. I think the device has light sensor.

Simple: I would like to lower the Program/Back buttons' brightness

Dear fellas,
I have a rooted Note 3 with all the good theming, modding apps, but I couldn't find any, which can dim out the Program/Back buttons. I have a white Note, and the bright buttons don't look good in the dark.
Any tipps?
Thanks in advance.
Don't think it's possible to dim them. Only thing you can do is turn them off completely.

I'm afraid you are right, and there is no possibility to do it. A few years ago, I had an SGS2 and I could do that, but now I can't find any solution.
Because the phone is white, and the leds are bright the bottom of my phone is glowing, even the screen's edge too.
I know what you mean! I have the white one too

Screen issues lollipop 5.0 stock

Hi guys basically my screen opacity seems a bit low as I can always see what looks like another windo underneath everything I do on the phone. Only slightly but noticeable. Wondering what could be at fault here. Thanks
Burn-in ?

is it new or second hand?
have you spent a long time with something certain with screen on?
Looks like a burn in rather than opacity issue to me. There's no way you would see the innards of your phone from the screen. It's very2 opaque.

Unusually Bright Screen

So I bought this phone when it first came out and for the most part love it so far. Unfortunately the grill on my ear piece fell out and I requested an exchange. Right before I was going to send back my return I had both phones side by side and noticed that my original Essential phone screen it ridiculously bright compared to the replacement they sent. I also compared it to my old phone (S7 Edge) and it's brighter than even that phone. I'm curious if I got lucky and got an Essential Phone that is unusually bright. Take a look at the pics and let me know. I don't wanna send it back if did. I know the brightness is one of the issues people have with this phone so I'm thinking this might be a rarity. The first 2 pics are of the Essential Phones side by side next 2 are of each Essential Phones next to my old S7 Edge.
Have you checked if the adaptive brightness setting is on?

I haven't. I'll do that and report back.
Adaptive brightness does not work very well for me, it is always a little too dim, even if I move the slider all the way to 100%.
When I disable adaptive brighness the screen can get really bright so I like that when I show off the phone. So for me, I have to keep adaptive brightness off. Looking for a better app to help with automated screen brightness .
Maybe You have the night light on....that's why the color shift
