I wonder if making changes to the registry such as increasing touch sensitivity has an effect on Battery life.
I got a new battery and it last only for 30 hrs, within 24hrs it goes below 45%.
following are the steps i have already taken
Low Brightness
No vibration
Blue tooth/WiFi always off
i also done this Battery Tweak thru registry but still no improvement
power management

Hi Jeremy,
well, In 24 hrs timeframe, i have a talk time of 2-2.5 hrs with occasional use of loud speakers
that;s the daily usage...
I dont do anything else with the phone...
Also, I see tht battery drainage is +149mA, i installed a battery status program..
Dont know what to do, i am thinking of reformating and reintallng the OS....
"DO u think Increasing Touch sensitivity has something to do with it???"
From my experience the touch sensitivity have no issues.
why not you hard reset / flash a new rom to device and install this cab file which will automatically help you do it.

Please be reminded that I will be away for 3 days for skills training camp!
Cheers.

Try CID unlock several times Untill the screen becomes completely white (no Penguin) it worked for me in fifth trial
dont forget to install EnableRapi and Cert_SPC cabs and soft recet and remove SD and SIM
RUN ruu OF USPL when the screen is white without reset after that check your new IPL and SPL from bootloader
Need Help
im getting an error when im clicking the link... can any of you guys provide me the step by step instructions for increasing touch sensitivity for ELFIN? thanks!

On the WM Team Blog they address the reaction to the nearly worthless battery icon replacing the clock. Good news is that ROMs using AKU2.2 and later will allow you to add the clock back in, bad news is that the current JasJar ROM (1.30.76) doesn't seem to have the 2.2 release of AKU.
Can people with other carrier's ROMs check to see if the registry edit they provide works with your ROM?
The egistry edit is to add a DWORD titled ShowTitleBarClock with the value of 1 in the HKEYLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Shell location.
Didn't work for me
Doesn't work in the latest dopod rom 1.30.111 either...
The message on the MS site is from yesterday, and the guy is speaking of a "further release", i think AKU 2.2 don't exist yet
btw: isn't working on my wizard too
AKU 2.2.1 exists...
this is the nessesery file, you need to replace the existing one with this one (windows directory)
and add
[HKEYLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Shell]
"ShowTitleBarClock"=dword:1
this is only for AKU 2.0!
!!!Attention: Make a backup and read through this tropic!!!
Problems with Universal roms!!!!
Perhaps related to the certification. Plz someone with removed certification try this... and post the results.
RE
The shell32.exe file in my QTEK 9000 is located in ROM something which you cannot copy out.
Does a soft reset reverts back to original battery icon if I'll to replace with the attached shell32.exe file?
After the battery icon is replaced by the clock icon, can I add a date to it also using any known method to put a date on top of the clock?
I believe a hard reset will definitely reverts back to the original battery icon, right?
Thanks
only a hard reset reverts back to the original.
add a date: I think so... not tested, but it should work.
I have a special rom where it is possible to overwrite system files, but It could be difficult to replase shell32.exe on a normal rom and I cant make a cab, because I dont know how to sign that.
plz someone with the knowledge about that make a cab.
don't bother, because even if you replace the shell32.dll, it wont restart, displaying the keyboard and getting stuck there.
You will have to hard reset and restore from a backup to get back your device.
A word of warning - back up before trying this. It hosed my universal. It would not even finish booting, and I had to hard reset.
Surur
Ok, I realy sorry.
It works for me...
Himalaya (rom based on 2.00a)
On my ROM (Qtek latest) in \Shell\Taskbar there's a regkey LimitedClock set to 1. If I set that to 0, the clock will at least display everywhere except Today, both in landscape and portrait modes. With it set to 0 as per standard, the clock only shows up while in apps *and* landscape, apps/portrait it doesn't. As long as the Today screen time&date plugin is switched on, this means you've always got the clock. BTW, needs a softreset to activate, Taskbar settings apparently are only read on first startup.

I'm sure you realise this is a universal forum? You should edit your post to remove your file before somebody else zaps it's unit.
I dont think so, because the os is the same.
My rom is not realy Himalaya, it is a ported wizard os and only the drivers of Himalaya.
So the file should work on all WM5 devices, perhaps the problem is related to the removed certification on Him 2.0 rom's.
(This file is from an Atom rom not Himalaya)
But you are right, I edited the post.
Disablesecurity.cab, replace shell32.exe with new, softreset
Hangs at boot with the soft keyboard superimposed over the boot screen. Hard reset to fix.
Basically, avoid this for a while.
......or use Wisbar Advance 2 and you have your clock back on the Today screen....
Cheers

You can access that feature simply by going to the date/time settings and enabling "Display the clock on the title bar in all programs" on the |More| tab.
O2 xda Atom have AKU2.2.1 and it really works no more battery icon.

Hello,
It is my first post on this forum.
Yesterday, I unlocked my frensh SPVM3000 (Wizard) and tried to replace my "shell32.exe" by the "shell32.exe" downloadable on this post.
It was a BAD idea! My SPV starting crashed because it was for Universal smartphone. I used the button sequence to re-install the original software.
Have you an address where I can download the "shell32.exe" of the Wizard AKU 2.2 software?
Thanks for your help.
Seb...
this is really pounding my ass... my wifi can be enabled "sometimes" mainly after a hard reset but then after a day of normal operation it refuses to enable.
cant seem to find anyone with the same problem.. when enabled it works fine can find and connect to any network just wont enable after a while.
soft reset does nothing
please point me in the right direction I dont mind reading/searching.
thanks in advance

2 Questions regarding your problem...
1. What ROM are you using? WM5 WM6? Which version of it?
2. By not enabling, do you mean that it does not switch on at all if pressed in the comm manager? or does it come on but refuses to connect to any Wi-Fi Network?
Let me know perhpas I can help
thanks for ur reply, I'm using WM5 ill check which version of rom now( soft reset?)
yes I mean it won't turn on when it does turn on it works fine
doesn't seem to be any reason why though I checked what programs were running nothing seems to be interfereing?!
anyway thanks for ur help
si
Your Problem should be easy to fix.. I hope...
Get a registry editor for your Wizard... something like Resco Explorer has a nice one built in or Total Commander will also work
Then go and change this key in the Registry
HKLM\Comm\TNETWLN1\Parms\HTCPreloadWifi
Default value is 0 change it to 1 and exit the editor... play around with the Wizard for about 2-3 min and do a soft reset on the device. (This is needed to ensure that the Wizard actually stores the change to the registry.)
If it does not work check the key in the registry again and make sure it is changed... repeat the above steps if needed...
Hope you get it right.
PS Also check in the \Windows\Startup\ folder that WifiInit.lnk is there...
thanks for the advice, using total commander i changed the value waited soft reset ( value stayed changed) unfortunatly it didnt work. wifiinit.lnk is in startup too.
by the way here is the rom info
ipl - 2.21.0001
spl - 2.21.0001
gsm - 02.07.10
os - 2.21.4.1
really hope you have another idea? or hint
thanks so far at least that is ruled out.
there is another value. PreloadStatus.. change value from 0 to 1 and check again... other wise check through the Windows Mobile 6 Section and try to upgrade your ROM to something like NBD8.1 It is seriously much better than the WM5 you currently have..
Regards,
Johan
ok thanks I tried that value aswell, still intermittent with no rhyme or reason, anyway will try to upgrade to wm6.
thanks for your time
si
update: upgraded to wm6 nbd 8.2 rom but still got the same problem WIFI works after a soft reset but once disabled wont re-enable!
I tried the reg edits again but it doesnt seem to make any difference.
please help before I make bits of it with my hoof!
thnks again

hi jus wondering if anyone has any ideas? still doing my head in so it is!
hi,
New to the "ROM update" world, i've succeded in installing the French Rom V1.25.406.1.fr on my HTC Cruise (Polaris).
My "problem" was this red and very ugly "SFR / vodafone" splash screen. Then, i searched on the forum to find a way to change this screen and found this thread :
"How to kill vodafone startup" : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=368421&highlight=sfr , redirecting to a ...Trinity thread.
I arrived to the WIKI page dedicated to this : http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Trinity_SplashScreen and followed instructions using "mtty" :
USB> task 32
USB> lnb finalsplash.nb 500e0000
USB> task 8
USB> task 32
USB> lnb finalsplash.nb 50140000
USB> task 8
The device restarted twice (after each "task 8" command), and now offers a white startup screen, but keeps on loading WM6 FR correctly. So there has been a problem while updating the screen but did not cause a dramatic failure.
I then restarted the device in booloader mode and found that the description in the red section had been sort of corrupted.
It now displays :
::::::::::: MFG
SPL-2.20.01inex
CPLD-2
As it looks strange to me, and as i can't find a way to have a proper splashscreen i decided to reinstall the ROM package. But when starting to install i now get this message "ERROR [244] : INVALID MODEL ID". On this error screen is also diplayed a kind of serial number on the right bottom, and it looks "corrupted" as far as i remembe i saw such number ant it was normal during my first installation. It now displays : "N-&ààaâäae-S-PPND./01*"
After this quick recap, i would be very please to find help for any tech guy (or not) who could find a way to get install a proper ROM on my device that will be updatable again.
hope i'm clear (i understand this can be a little messy ..), and i really hope someone will help me get rid of this.
thanks guys.

well congratulations for managing to find the place it stores the Model ID, hard luck for managing to wipe it.
what I'll do is rbmc my device and dump off my nand so you can write back a valid ModelID... but in the worst case scenario I can just bung you a patched SPL to ignore the model ID.
I think I'll post the correct addresses on the wiki... also, rather than committing suicide like that, in future, build an NBH properly and the device takes care of the addresses for you.
oh, one other thing, could you please check and see if your WLAN is dead or not.
Thx for your time dude. i feel so stupid ...

I've just checked my WLAN. it could correctly open a WPA TKIP session on my router and browse mobile.htc.com with Internet Explorer.
That must mean it's alive and working i think.
yeah... unicode string at 0x50104000
I think we can probably recover you if we make a 0x100 byte file with the appropriate data and lnb it to that address
OK, I've reconstructed you a ModelID to flash using lnb...
command is
lnb 50104000 thefile.nb
(where thefile.nb is the filename of the NB in the zip... please remember to extract it)
That's really great news. I'm crossing fingers. thx.
Guess what ?
The bootloader now dipslays "POLA100". Big thank Olipro !
I'm on my way to have a ROM UPDATE in order to know if i can give you the title of fu*** genious of the day or not
PS : correct command is "lnb thefile.nb 50104000"
ROM update successful, title confirmed !
Cheers Olipro
yes, my mistake, it's file then addr.
incidentally, the correct address to lnb the splash screen to is 0x50140000 and 0x501A0000 respectively.

You know whether to replace the splash "welcomehead.96."

I have the Italian original rom.
hi
got a huge problem: I was curious if there are any changes in AT communication on qsd8250 vs msm72xxx so I attempted to look at the debug log of my leo.
I set HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\ATDbgLog "Enable" = dword:00000001
Then did a soft reset. It booted up until 'starting sense' then it just softreset. And this is an infinite loop.
Took out sd, sim, battery for a while, put battery back in, turned on leo, same problem.
Now I don't have anything critical in nand so I can just reflash. But I would like to know why the heck this happened. Also if anybody has a solution to solve this w/o reflashing please let me know.
Is it some generic problem? I couldn't find anything on that specific to leo so far.
thanks
When you boot, don't you have enough time to run a .CAB that would change this registry line?
Zepiii.
Maybe hard reset without reflashing...

this happens when the registry is broken , this happened in the initial roms that came with hd2 before, 1.41 and 1.42 ... something to do with broken and corrupted registry ..... ask netripper ! this is just a thought.
ok I just ran hard reset and it seems all good. sucks to set everything up from scratch tho.
still would like to know how it corrupted the registry. maybe I softreset too fast so it had no time to sync
Can you still access to Internal Memory? (Even by computer?)
Particullary to \Windows\Startup\ ?
I suppose that you can't
Anyway, if you need the .CAB, I can make it normally

Hi ,
Sorry For my bad English
When i was resetting my phone after calibrating screen i turned the phone off and i installed the cabs manually ,
Now , When i turn on the phone i see a message about installing programs , If i press no date and clock on the phone will be 13:00 2010.5.1
How can i remove this page ??? or do some thing for clock setting ?
Thanks in advance
3) After rebooting, the Sony Logo will appear again asking to retry. Press NO. Well by default this will keep on showing up every time you restart the phone, and it will also reset your time & date setting to some time in March. But I found a solution for that. With registry editor of your choice, search for Launch190 (HKLM\init\Launch190\CustAppInstaller.exe). Delete that value, and phone won't ask you again if you want to retry the CABS instalation, also it won't change your Time & Date setting again!!
