So recently my g1 has been acting up. I don't know if I did anything to mess it up, but its screwy. As I type a contact's name to send the message to them, on the bar above the input field it shows the message will be sent to the person twice. "Doe, John<888-888-8888>, Doe, John<888-888-8888>"
I don't know what is going on, but it sucks having my phone send the same text every time I want to compose a new message like that. It really sucks for my friends who don't have unlimited text.
I have tried rebooting the phone, hard reset, reflashing jf 1.5, and wiping the phone.

i have 2 HUGE problems that i am finally sick of
1. when i am writing a new sms and i put who to send to (To: ) and click send it says that i am not sending to another and sends me to my contact list and i have to select the person. i already have a person i am sending to and it says i have to select another person and basically i have to send the same text twice. WTF?!?!
2. when i receive a text and am writing a text or something, i DON'T click send but for some reason it would send it. most of the time this happens BEFORE i actually write a msg and am in the process of going to the text message menu to respond and it just sends a blank text. WTF?!?!
is there anyway to add an option to have you review a text and confirm it before it is actually sent?

I'm not sure what you mean because I've never encountered problems like those with my Wing. I ran the stock TMobile ROM for about a week and since then I've been playing around with custom mods, etc, and I can't say I've experienced either of those issues. I own 2 Wings (long story); one is 4.10.531.2 WWE and the other was 4.10.531.3 WWE.
Some additional info might be helpful to help troubleshoot your problem and maybe even get that bump. ROM version? Is it a virgin installation (as in, you haven't installed any apps, etc)? Does it *always* happen or is it sporadic?

happens randomly. is there just not a way to have the phone confirm and review a text msg before it is sent?

on my tmo mda every now and then if i send a text message, part of a hotmail message will jump in there and send with it. it shows up on the other phone, but not on my sent messages. tmo has already reset my data connection and that didn't do anything. they say i have to do a hard reset but there's just too much stuff to reload so i really don't wanna.
got tmo rom and wm5...any ideas on what to do?
i've tried deleting the cemail.vol but it happened again...
So, this morning, i tried to send out a text message to more than one person asking for email addresses. After waiting over and hour and only getting one response, i sent an individual message to someone that didn't respond. Well, they said they never got anything. So i did some playing around with sending test texts, and it turns out that anyone listed after the first person is not receiving any messages. This worked before and for some odd reason just stopped working?
Any direction someone can point me in? i'm not using a custom messaging program.
Worse come to worse and i need to set the phone back to factory defaults, how do i do that?
nevermind, got tired of not being able to send out multiple texts so i set it to factory defaults.
found an xml contacts backup so i didn't lose any contacts. . just around 500 text messages.
It's just that the custom roms don't put the semicolon between the contacts when you send to multiple people for some reason, just manually put it there. I'm not sure as the the limit of people you can send a single text to. Anyone know?
i use an app called group sms and sent it to a text to about 25 people at once.
Hi, i need a bit of help trouble shooting an issue i have.
My G1 is running the jesusfreke ADP 1.5 image. I normally use chompsms as my default messaging client.
Quite regularly my friends are tellingme that my text messages are coming through garbled. Either all squares, or every other character is an @ symbol.
The outgoing messages appear normal on my phone.
I asked one person to forward my last messed up msg back, and it came through like this:

Although on my phone, the square symbols with numbers in show up as chinese characters.
Very strange! It happens periodically with no trigger that i can find. When it starts doing it, it continues for a couple of msgs at least.
Has anyone heard of this before, or have any ideas what i can do to fix it?
When using my DX to text my wife on her regular Droid, my messages come in to her messed up. For example, I sent her a message about working late but all she received was "tomordinner for us". I didn't even type in the words "dinner for us" in the text!
Also, I see a pop up to add the green android smilies (you know, the happy face, embarrassed, etc) but when I place them within the text, they look like the typed characters for them but not the actual image. She sees them just fine on her phone but I don't when I send them or when I receive them from her.
Any idea what's up? Oh, my phone is unmodded, totally "stock" and I'm running 2.2

Are you using the stock messaging app? If so the emoticons wont show. As far as the messed up texts, not sure. I would recommend you go with either handcent or go sms for your text messaging
