Hi,
Whenever I try to visit a https address, all the browser shows is a white blank page, eg. when I try to launch the Mobile version of Gmail in the browser, the only thing I get is a blank page. How come? Can this be fixed? Anyone else with the same issue?
Br
Rasmus, Denmark
I would be interested to see the answer to this one. My Dream has always done the same thing.
Hmm... Not anyone Else who have had the same problem who has a fix?
I have had this intermitantly in the past and only with very specific sites not just HTTPS what I did and worked for a while is clear cache, history, cookies and restart phone. after flashing NK02's rom which is fantastic never any more problems.
Hi
Sounds awesome Where do I find this ROM and installation instructions for it?

On a PC, you can go to http://wap.oa.yahoo.com, and login to your yahoo account to read your emails, etc.
If I do the same from my XDA2, it says "Unable to connect: Ensure that your modems are present and inserted correctly, and no network card present".
If I try this with any other web site (e.g. http://www.bbc.co.uk) it connects and works fine.
Does anyone else get this, and does anyone know a way around it?
Thanks!
On my XDA, http://wap.oa.yahoo.com works fine.
But WAP stinks on a capable device like the XDA or XDAII. Why not use http://www.yahoo.com instead, or set up your Inbox to download your Yahoo headers and/or messages?
can i realy do that?? setup INBOX for yahoooo???
please show me how! i couldnt even set the outlook express on PC to do that!
thanks a million.

You can only do this if you pay extra for POP3 access to Yahoo emails - which I don't want to do as this isn't my primary email account.
Also, going through http://www.yahoo.com means you get all the ads, graphics, etc. Even over a GPRS line, this makes it quite painfull.

I just got a new XDA II and I could access Yahoo without problems. After an involutary hard reset all the O2 stuff got installed (seems it was not installed the first time I used the device), and now I'm having the same problem as you're describing. Has O2 added something "clever" so that if it sees "wap" in the path, it thinks it should use a wap connection? In any case I can't find these settings and delete it. I want it to work as it did before the hard reset! Help!
Try wsp://wap.oa.yahoo.com insted of http://wap.oa.yahoo.com
HTTP = PC
WSP = WAP
8)
cheers
WSP doesn't work either. Probably because that signals even more to the computer that you're trying to establish a WAP connection, which I don't want to do and which isn't set up either. The funny thing is that it worked before the hard reset, and I never had any problems on my old XDA I.
I managed to remove all the O2 stuff from the extended ROM, and after a hard reset, I can now access http://mobile.yahoo.com/mail again! Once you access http://mobile.yahoo.com/mail, the path changes to http://wap.oa... and from this point on it complained. Until I removed the O2 stuff. So now I'm happy it works, but I'd still like to know what settings O2 infiltrated to stop it from working. Does anyone have a clue?

I think it have something to do with Connection settings and or Registery settings for Browser ID string (User ID String)
example:
Of youre browser ID is "Mozilla/4.0(compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320)" Than you w'll get a diffrent page if you have something else.
After I changed my Browser ID (to see more free stuff from orange GRPS/Orange World) I cant get the colored page of Yahoo Too.
Can you post here youre Browser ID please?
To see youre browser ID string, Visit http://www.showip.com on youre PPC, and let me know please.
Cheers
I just bought an XDA2i and am having the same problem with the mobile Yahoo site. Since nobody has managed to unlock the extended ROM in XDA2i yet , I cannot remove the O2 stuff that is causing the problem (forcing a different connection for web adresses starting with "wap"). On my XDA2 i could unlock the extended ROM and remove the O2 bits, and this solved the problem. With XDA2i I'm stuck...
I need to clear my cookies because I can't log into a particular website due to a cookie problem.
Can anyone tell me how to do this on my Vario II?

Hi.
In PIE go to Menu>Tools>options>security
Mike
Cheers. I tried that and it cleared my cookies (well, I presume that it did since I had to re-enter my log-in details at the problem website) but it didn't solve my problem.
FWIW my problem site is Facebook - or the mobile Facebook site m.facebook.com. When I try to log-in it just loops the log-in screen. Don't suppose anyone else has had this problem?

Yes - I went through the process and found the same issue. I think their mobile site is perhaps for WAP browsers though I could be wrong.
I successfully managed however ,to log on using PIE and the full site i.e. http//facebook.com and it works fine.
If you really want the mobile version - that I guess is laid out without so many graphics etc I suppose you need to contact them. If it's because it's a wap site then you can download a wap browser. (say Winwap: http://www.winwap.com/products_2_2.php)
According to Facebook:
Boost, Cingular, Nextel, Sprint, and Virgin currently support Facebook Mobile Web. If you have another carrier and a phone with an internet browser, it should still work, we just can't make any guarantees. If you are having trouble, please tell us your carrier, the make and model of your phone, and describe the problem that you are experiencing here.

Mike - When I started my phone this morning (I switch it off every night), I could access m.facebook.com today. Worked perfectly. So clearing your cookies might work for you too.
The mobile Facebook site is really excellent on a Vario.
CAn anyone please help with the following problem?
When I log onto my email provider's web access page using a WiFi connection from my Hermes everything goes OK until the point when I have to enter my username and password. At this point all keyboard input into the relevent boxes appears to be disabled, but I can still control the browser OK. Any ideas ??
chances are the site is encrypted or uses SSL and the version of pocket IE on your device does not support logging into that site. you can set the account up in messaging or you can try a different browser such as opera mobile.
http://www.opera.com/download/mobil... Pocket PC phones running Windows Mobile 5.0
Im not sure if this file works on WM6 but I had no problems when i used it on WM5.
Thanks Cliff I will try Opera - never did like IE anyway
At present the HTC Account Manager (settings/connections) allows you to input account details for You Tube (there is a Facebook setting, but it is hidden) However I cannot get my youtube login details to work - and yes I am typing the correct username/password.
All I recieve is the following error
"There was a connection error while attempting to login".
Is anyone else experiencing this?
are you connected to the internet?

I said only... that I've got the problem, also, that I don't see Facebook account.
Works like a charm for me.
Maybe it conflicts with your proxy settings...?

I have original HTC version running on T Mobile UK network.
Anyone else having problems/success?
just got my hd and checked this with o2 sim and it works fine. is it possible to show the facebook account? that would be useful.
think I have figured the problem - you may need to confirm your email address again. log into youtube.com and click on UPLOAD VIDEO - enter a email address, open email, follow link - presto!
Hi, when i logged in my twitter acc with the Twitter Peep app, is says i using a wrong username or passwort, but i have write the right
whats the problem? im using the wifi connecting...
Sometimes after a reset it happens overhere to, just make another reset and it wil popup again, i dont know why, but it happens.
kor
i had this all of a sudden, when it worked fine one day then not the next.
'peep' our 3rd party twitter app has to now be 'allowed' access to twitter.
must have been a security update done by twitter.com in the last few weeks.
heres how i fixed this issue.
i went to twitter.com then logged in as usual,
top left i went to 'settings' and found a setting to 'enable' / 'disable' (or was it allow/disallow?) 3rd party apps.
anyways, on twitter.com i set it to allow 3rd party apps access to twitter.
then back on my hd2 i logged out... then back in again
and everything worked again.
hope this helps

I am useing refrence rom v.: 1.66.415.9
