Is it possible? I am currently using PDAnet for an internet connection, cause i'm a total brokeass. but some port forwarding would be pretty handy right now. can i forward a port while tethering?

Hello,
Was wondering if anyone is aware of what exactly AT&T's policies are regarding their data network.
I am having a problem using Remote Desktop on my Tilt to access a remote PC.
By default Remote Desktop/Terminal services uses port 3389.
I have a machine configured to use an alternate port.
I can use remote desktop without a problem on the data connection when connecting to servers using 3390, but not when using my alternate port.
I don't have any problems connecting to either when using my Wi-Fi connection on my home network.
It appears that AT&T is blocking this port.
Perhaps they are blocking most ports and only allowing those used for standard services?
I don't find this acceptable and will probably call them about this, but I don't know if there is anything that they can or will do. I was wondering if anyone else had experience with this.
thanks.
so you are saying you found a way to tether with tethering being on your plan?

This has nothing to do with tethering.
I am using Remote Desktop Mobile on my Tilt to attempt to access a Terminal Server running on a port other than 3389.
Over Wi-fi I have no problem, under MEdia Net I cannot connect.
If I try to connect to a terminal server over port 3390, I have no issues.
I still remember the old way of creating Dial up connection using our mobile device as a modem to connect internet. Is it possible to use our android device as a dial up modem to connect internet? Thank you. P.S Please avoid mentioning USB tethering as an alternative solution.
What's your actual goal?

I am trying to host a server in pc using mobile as my modem. In USB tethering, mobile device act as a router and you have enable port forwarding to forward TCP requests to the server. My constraint doesn't allow that. But in DUN, the ip assigned by your ISP will be directly allocated to you PC, so need to go for port forwarding.
I've seen articles/posts about reverse tethering (getting internet from PC to phone) and obviously regular Bluetooth and Wi-Fi tethering...
Say my home ISP service is down for some reason and I want to use some of my mobile data in the house temporarily.
Is there a way to get tethering setup so internet from mobile phone LTE gets sent out the USB, through a micro-USB OTG adapter, to a USB-to-Ethernet adapter, and then run an Ethernet cable from the adapter to my WAN port on my wireless router? Then all my wired and wireless devices can get internet access through the router so it handles DHCP and all that and the phone just tethers to the WEB interface of the router.
I know I can do the reverse of this, hard-wire Ethernet into my phone if for some reason I didn't have Wi-Fi or cellular connections. How about the opposite?
My phone is unlocked, rooted, and I'm pretty decent at editing config files if necessary!
More research shows maybe I'm better off using usb tethering to a usb port on the router and running dd-wrt. Or setting up router add a client bridge and using Wi-Fi tether instead of cable connection.

Hmm...
What if we create a hotspot on our device, then have a VPN Server on our phone and connect to the server from the device your connecting from. This would encrypt all usage to your phone and send it to the internet right? Is this possible with 7.1.1?

You can use PDANet+ to use your phone's data without letting your carrier know. So, if your carrier gives you unlimited data but charges you for tethering then you can use this method to get free data on your computer.
Unfortunately, wifi hotspot is not possible, just USB tethering.
I'm not sure if this is what you were asking for but it's all I got
Also, when connected to the computer via PDANet, you can use any VPN on the phone and it will also forward that VPN connection to the pc. So on the pc you don't need to do anything, just have the VPN connected on the phone and use PDANet to do USB tethering. That's all. This way you get vpn and data on the pc through the phone.

I've a rooted SG-950F, using AFWall+, busybox etc etc Android 7.0
I can connect a USB Ethernet adapter and set a static IP and it all connects perfectly
I can connect to 4G and access everything as expected
I can USB tether, adb, Wifi Hotspot etc
My question: Can I connect the 4G and set the Ethernet Gateway to be 4G? making it into a 4G ethernet "dongle" or router
Anyone know what routes to add, iptables rules etc?
DNS lookups aren't a big issue as I could use local/hosts/IP etc
(ifconfig and use the 4G gateway and local network seems too simple as does 127.0.0.1)
This is to allow a non-usb non-wifi device on an Ethernet connection to access the internet via 4G

Look into root tethering solutions. What you describe is exactly how wifi tethering works, just over WiFi instead of the Ethernet adapter. You should be able to modify a custom tether mod to reference the Ethernet device instead

thanks for the response but I think that may be a wee bit above my current skills, could you recommend a simple app that would be easy to tweak?
