push email - Palm Treo Pro

anyone knows of reliable,CONFIRMED, PUSH email service that works on the pro?

Alltel Based Phone
All I can offer is that Alltel offers on their phone.
It stopped working recently, but when it was working, my yahoo mail came through with no problems. Also outlook can be set to a higher frequency if you don't want to send/receive so often.

1. Any exchange server.
2. Seven (www.seven.com) together with gmail.
Those are the two I have used.

Good Mobile Messaging Works great... better than BlackBerry! http://www.good.com
It requires a Good Messaging Server.

Google's Sync service has supported Google calendar and contacts sync for a while. Recently, they added support for pushed email. A few days ago, I switched from using IMAP to using ActiveSync for GMail. Except for some times when it's very slow to pick up on new email, it works pretty well.

i agree with nispen - i've been using seven beta with gmail for over a year. it's worked almost flawlessly.

i see that Seven does not work in Brazil, where I am. The other service that someone recommended is SMS based. Does anybody know a REAL PUSH service like maybe seven (I did not test it, but understand it does what it is supposed to do) that work here?

when i first got my palm, there was a popup about some microsoft push service for the device... i ended up flashing to 6.5.1 and that feature isnt there anymore though.

try emoze www.emoze.com

www.emoze.com has just come up with a push email feature for mobiles and pdas.
i just wanted to know if anyone has tried out the service and how is it?
i don't have an outlook exchange server so i can't really set up direct push on my 8125.
I just checked and Emoze does not support the Qtek 9100 yet
try selecting the Tmo MDA.. same thing.. i'm downloading the program now to see if it works..
ok, stay away from it for now, it is in beta, but here's what happened to me..
1. it replicated my contacts about 40 times.. i had to go thru and delete duplicates... ugh..
2. Program on the PC desktop crashes randomly, it crashed 4 times in a 30 minute period..
3. kinda flaky performance.. it works as in the push email function, it notifies you, but then it took 3-4 trys on the PPC to get out of the notification/program and see the actual email in outlook..
give it time and if they perfect it a little, this will be very cool to have..

Cool, thanks for the input. Hopefully they'll fix the bugs soon so we can use it.
replicated my contacts also, it states that you cannot have activesync running while this program is running, which is kinda ridiculous...another thing is, it runs OFF of your computer, uses your OUTLOOK, nothing on their end, its just a piece of software...in other words, if your computer is off, no email....useless if you ask me
Ya know, it's a shame the T-Mobile's SMS-based notification feature isn't a bit better tuned. It really works well - just takes to long to notify your phone of a new event.
For anyone who hasn't tried it. When you go to the T-Mobile website, you can put in the info for one or more of your non-T-Mobile email services. You can use POP3 or IMAP4 servers along with your SMTP server, and you specify your email login and password.
After that, you can click on the feature in your MDA that retrieves specs for your email account from T-Mobile's servers, and pocket Outlook will set up an appropriate additional account for you in the MDA. With this all set up, you can, in addition to your normal way of checking your email, check your email account via the T-Mobile website or via your MDA simply by doing a Send/Receive on the MDA in the Messaging app.
The neat part that T-Mobile hasn't quite implemented 100% is that you can have their server monitor your email account for new incoming messages, and in turn send a "silent SMS" to your MDA to let it know when new email has arrived. Then your MDA automatically kicks off a Send/Receive, fetches whatever email is waiting on the server and notifies you.
This works quite well. The ONLY problem is that that it may take way too long for you to be notified that something new is on the server. This could be due to one (or both) of two possibilities:
1) T-Mobile's back-end servers may not be monitoring and checking your email server frequently enough. If it checks for new email every minute, that's great - but if it waits 30 minutes between checks, that's about the best you can hope for when waiting for your MDA to be notified about new incoming mail.
2) Even if T-Mobile's back-end servers "know" that your email provider's servers have new mail for you once a minute, that only helps if the "daemon" (or whatever process they use) sends the "silent SMS" to you immediately. If the "silent SMS" is queued up, and the process to send them out is delayed, or possibly scheduled to happen once every 30 minutes, we have yet another way in which it takes too long for your phone to be notified that new email has arrived.
Whichever delay is causing this, it would be fantastic if T-Mobile could fix it. If they did, this would, functionally, serve the purpose of push email for many of us -- especially for those of us who have unlimited messaging as part of our plan with T-Mobile.
despite the bugs, it worked great, and i'm gonna keep an eye on their progress..
This is basically the program i've been looking for. Something that I can load on my own PC (since it's on 24/7) and have it sync my inboxes on my 8125.. it was nearly instantaneous when it worked on my system..
a note to people that want to try this though...
1. BACKUP YOUR CONTACTS!!!!
2. Make sure ActiveSync is set to not sync anything, and turned off.
3. Then run the program..
I wish it was more stable, and i'd use it all the time, but until then, im sticking with POP updating every 2 minutes..
I can't get it to work on my PC in my office. My company uses a proxy server and the desktop app can't connect to the internet. Any suggestions?
not really sure.. but keep an eye on this thread from their forums, the emoze team might respond with an answer..

I think they started push service in their "live.web2mail" bbeta but I could be mistaken as I have not tried it. Even if it free it wont be for long as MS has pretty expensive licensing fees per user to use exchange server. I think they have 6 months where they can claim 0 users. The emoze you need your home pc on all the time. For me it would be ok cuz i always keep my pc turned on but for a lot of people i dont think they do that.
Any news on this? Is it working yet? I keep my computer on all the time and was looking at running Exchange Server from it to get Push Email, but maybe I'm better off waiting for this?
I've been using a mail3web live account for a couple of weeks and it works very well. I just had to set up mail forawrding from my own ISP. I'm pretty sure it's not push email but it works fine through active sync on the PPC as long as I remember not to kill the application. You can set it to synch with the sever as often as you like and as I'm a bit worried about getting a large bill and I'm not too wooried about getting everything instantaniously I've set mine to synch with the server every two hours. If I want to check more frequently I just hit send/receive.
Dave
Whoops - no I haven't discovered a new one! The above should read mail2web live account!

There's no tweak. mail2web just upgraded to Exchange SP2, so if you've got a ROM in your wizard that supports push (I'm using the 2.17 custom on my TMO MDA), sign up for a free mail2web account, forward your email there from other accounts, and follow the diretions to set it up on your Wizard, and you will get true push email now.
The only problem I have is that I forward my gmail to my mail2web, and once or twice/day I notice I'm not getting e-mail, sign in to my gmail account and under the forward it says gmail is having trouble forwarding to that account. I push try again, and it starts sending my email again for maybe a day. I think mail2web is either having a problem receiving so much mail (there's been a big buzz about it on xda and howard last few weeks), or else it might be a problem with their spam filters...
MC
thanx for ur reply...that's exactly what i did and got a gmail account too and everything's ok here...all my mails are directed to my mail2web account ( actually live.mail2web.com account)
But can not succeed in push to mail...my rom is the "test only" one I think it's the one before the official 2.17....Any chance to get it work though?
Many thanx...

IMAP Pusher Service

Does anyone know if this programs runs on htc touch hd?
http://www.codeplex.com/ImapPusherService
I will runs quite well. I have been using it for about 2 weeks now with my gmail account and only bug is that it gives an error message after soft reset, but nothing major. All in all i've been satisfied with the program.
Seven works very well also:
http://community.seven.com/choose.html
or alternatively you could just set the native email client to check for mail every minute if you have an unlimited web package (joke)
Edit: I can confirm that the program you linked to in the first post does indeed work on the Touch HD - just tried it successfully myself!
I just downloaded this, but before I install it, I was wondering: Can this be configured for multiple accounts?
Thanks!

Hmm. The most frequent option I'm given on my Touch Pro is every 5 minutes...
The programmer of the application you have referred has "disappeared" for quite some time. Webis do a full email client that supports IMAP Push without any other add-on, however it is not a solution if you want to use the inbuilt mail program.
An alternative that is I use now is Mail2web, which has a completely free option and is based on microsoft exchange, allowing you to use the "proper" email push service. Simply forward all your emails to that account.

Push Gmail Solution

first if id like to say, sorry if the title is misleading
second, im still trying to figure out how to get true directpush gmail on the HD, ive been using wm for 4 years now....but since ive gotten the HD is when the push gmail is really starting to bother me, i mean yes, i can use owa to get my gmail, but its either manual sync, or interval sync. which is not true push mail. ive been able to use my hotmail account for push mail, obviously MS designed it this way that you can use it.
but still cannot find a way through owa or standalone wm to get push gmail
other thoughts here are;
-hotmail is capable of this obviously their parent company created the technology
-blackberry is capable of this because they have their BES server
-third party apps blow, so its not a true solution, i would perfer to have my emails between sender and me, rather than being filtered through by some third party app/company
if anyone has any kind of input or say, please feel free...
no one has a solution?
ive seen that there a lot of people looking at this thread, people have come across this im sure problem/topic, but no one has found a solution to the gmail push?!!

I had the same problem but "solved" it with HD Tweak. Ok solved is the false word for it but it works now.
So what I did is:
1. Start HD Tweak of course
2. Go to point 6.1 (Disconnect After)
3. I set it to 1 Minute or 2 Minutes
4. Save this with OK
After that my gmail works perfect when it always have to connect for a new time to the internet! If you are connected to the internet it won´t work! Crazy but ok what should I do
First I didn´t wanted to use this "disconnect after" option to get my gmail workin. I only wanted to safe battery energy but than I saw that with this disconnecting after 1Minute (on my HD) my gmail is working and syncing all mails correctly to my Touch HD.
Please tell me if it also works on your HD!

Sorry wrong answer on your question.....I thougt you have a problem syncing with gmail^^
But your question would be also interesting to me if there is a possibility to have pushmail with gmail.
Im also really interested. I have mine set to sync every hour which is ok but as mentioned, not pushmail at all. In fact it is barbarically pullmail.
I hope this will solve the problem.
WINDOWS LIVE (in your Start-programs-windows live)
1. make account in windows live / hotmail
2. at windows live menu - option, find Sync Schedule
3. choose, from Sync Frequency: as items arrive.
It means, as an email arrive in [email protected]., it will push to your handheld.
Carefull with the battery.
Sorry for my English.

well i mean i have gmail set up as imap on my hd but its still pullmail, i set it to manually sync, right now i have all my gmail forwarded to my hotmail, i get pushmail from that so, if i do get an email from my gmail account ill know and i can just hit sync on gmail, and reply if i need to, if i dont need to reply its just to read it then. but its not a solution just a temporary fix? waiting on google to release a gmail sync!
Funambol
Try funambol. It's open source and is getting to be a very popular push email solution.

im a bit hesitant about trying out the program, doesnt sound worth it, i could be wrong. but googled it a bit and found this

the article is a bit dated, but still. skimmed through it and i think it says all funambol basically sends you a sms? and tells you that you have new mail which means manually having to hit "send/receive" i may be wrong, i didnt read the entirety of the article

Hi,
I was also interested in push mail solution for WM and Touch Hd and this is what I found:
http://www.emoze.com/
I downloaded version for htc/other device and installed cab on mobile. After creating an account for gmail, it automaticly created account in outlook. Mails seems to be pushed into my mobile maybe 1 minute after they arrive to gmails inbox, so it sounds like a fair solution. Pls someone check that because it seems too good to be true. Maybe I'm missing something but it seems to be a real push mail solution for gmail and wm. And its free.

I just tested Emoze, and I'm REALLY impressed!
The setup is fast, and easy!
In the settings menu, I get my own language, despite the software being downloaded in English!
Receipt of testmail on my HD after 4 minutes.
Receipt of reply on my Lotus Notes after 30 seconds(!!!).
This is it! I'm not looking any longer
Another alternative is Seven. I've been using it for over a year now and prefer it to emoze. It's still in beta but works great.
well does seven emoze and funambol all enable you to reply with the gmail account name? and its all a separate application correct?
in a way my temporary fix is working for me, pain in the ass but working.....i just prefer not to have a 3rd party program "filter" through my emails, private or not.....
but has anyone received any word on whether googles releasing a gmail sync?

Seven integrates with outlook and runs in the background to deliver emails. When you want to read/reply you use outlook. Any replies sent are from the email address you set up.

MS Push email didnt work at all !!!

Good day all
I have set my HD2 to sync with my work email but the problem is that push email doesn't work at all, I have to click on send / receive manually to get my inbox updated. I am sure I did the setting correctly, also I have activated push email.
I dont know why it doesn't work in the htc hd2, my friend has an iphone 3GS and it works perfectly for him, he receives Work emails on time.
is it problem in the Rom it self ? my rom version is 1.48.405.2 (WWE)
can anyone help me please

I had tried to connect it via USB cable, in the begining of the connection when windows mobile device center sync with the HD2, it receives the emails but if the sync process stopped and I kept it connected for a while during that time I cant receive any new email on time and the inbox will not be updated unless I open windows mobile device center again and click on the Sync icon and after it sync again the inbox will be updated.
this mean even when I connect it via usb , it will not receives any new emails on time. it will only receive during sync process
Even though my push email is working i'm not convinced its working 100 percent of the time but i have always put this down to it being my push email provider's fault. Are you trying to use the GMail push email service? I ask because that is notoriously unstable. Can you try another push email service? Maybe GMail's sevice if you are not already using it?

Hi - I have the push email working fine with my employer's Exchange server, using HD2 with 1.48 ROM, so it should be possible to make it work.
One suggestion - delete the current Outlook account in Windows Mobile Device Center, and delete it from the HD2 as well. Then create the Outlook account again, making sure to do this on the HD2 disconnected from Windows Mobile Device Center, i.e. using the HD2 standalone over wireless or 3g connection.
You might want to unselect Calendar and Contacts sync until you have email sync working. You can configure the sync for them again afterwards.
This is just my personal experience but I have found it much more reliable to initiate the Outlook setup standalone from the phone. Good luck !
Jon.

Have you tried to configure your exchange account directly in ActiveSync on your phone ?

Yes, I configure it from my phone.
but actually not from activesync, i configure it from the email tab in htc manila
it seems push email doesnt work on the HD2..
I tried all possible solutions but no chance to solve this issue
Have you tried push mail with Gmail? If it works then it should be incompatibility issue or VPN access that restrict HD2 from accessing the company's email server.
My push with Gmail works perfectly. And I didn't setup using ActiveSync.

I guarantee it does, I've both an iphone and HD2, whilst making the transition from iphone to HD2, both phones have the same email account configured (zarafa a linux replacement for exchange server with z-push ) and emails arrive more or less simultaneously to both devices.
Maybe you'd like to post your email settings and i'll compare them to my own.

It does. Just try and config a Gmail Exchange account in Active Sync, it should work. If it doesnt, there's a problem with your phone.
Got the same problem. And also running before same mailbox with a iPhone. (works great). Same mailbox is now also running on a iPod touch.
Push doesn't work, from the beginning. My outlook account is from a hosted exchange server. I'm gonna try to remove and perhaps try with another mailbox (never used by iphone/ipod).
Update: Did some tests. With another provider (T-mobile) it works. With KPN Hi it doesnt. Seems like some providers doesnt support SSL.

Finally Hotmail Push that Supports HTML

Finally. Microsoft have released a standalone app for Hotmail which supports Push, activesync, folders HTML, the lot.
Called "Hotmail" and its by Microsoft + Seven.

Works perfectly for me.
It was already supported in Touchdown...

If you pay for it...
Nice works good for me too. I only can't seem te find the setting for changing te ringtone for new e-mails..
It seems to work quite good for me (5 accounts). But I have a big issue when editing/creating contacts : Only the name fied is available. I cannot edit phone numbers, mails, address, notes...
Do you know why?
I tried it yesterday on my DHD with MIUI but it seemed to drain my batt down.
Anyone else notice the same?
No, on the contrary it seems to be low consuming on mine!
I used to have the native google mail app to synchronize my hotmail accounts (with push). It worked quite well, but with no HTML, and the battery drain was higher than with this app.
After 2 days, it only used 2% of battery with push enabled and 34 mails received (and read)
Did anyone try to modify a contact with it? are you able to modify something else than the name? I'm not, so I had to keed another program to do it...
I was under the impression that ActiveSync supported everything, no need for this app. Not for me anyway. I just sync up with ActiveSync.

yes i also just discovered that MS active sync actually works as all the time i was trying to use the hotmail but have found out that tmobile are restricting outgoing messaging but i thought id try the microsoft activesync and guess what ? ........IT WORKS !!
so no need (well atleast in my case) for any hotmail or another app as the inbuilt htc email thing is working with hotmail by using exchange active sync instead of using the windows live/hotmail option
In fact it was not working in htc's app before the lastest rom upgrade...
It now works, but I still have some issues : contacts sometimes not synchronizing, no html rendering, problems with accents in french...
htc's mail app is still not very good...
this new Microsoft app is supposed to garanty that everything works fine. And moreover you have html mails at last!
(with pushed hotmail)
Thanks for that!!
Thanks, although I despise Hotmail, some people (family) still insist on using my 10 year old Hotmail email address and this beats having the once-an-hour GMail POP3 check only.
thanks this app is great!
