what radio and rom are you using? Maybe updating the radio rom will help.
Duttys V4 rom for diamond
and radio 1.09.25.23
any recommendations?
Weird. Does the car holder charge? What car is it (what kind of roof)?
it's a generic non-charging car holder for cellphones and pda's from Herbert Richter
Opel (vauxhall) corsa standard roof...
My N95 used to get perfect lock in the exact same place... but the diamond gets nada
do you have disabled A-GPS?
There's actually a hotfix from htc for GPS issue - may be it will help..
Copy the exe-file into the internal storage, click it and enjoy...
yeah it's off...
Ok, hotfix installed... will test it out tomorrow and let you know...
edit: Testing Garmin now and it seems to have about the same level of lock-on... but the test will be in the car tomorrow...
Same result... :-(
hard reset..
tried that...
the thing is if i hold the phone by my window or step out of the car with the phone in my hand... within seconds it gets a 10-satellite lock... it's just in the car in the holder that there's no signal... :-(
I honestly think it's not that car holder, but the windshield. Your car probably has a shielded or a treated glass in the windshield, causing bad or low reception.
If the GPS fix is almost instant when you hand is out of the window, it is pretty clear. Try your unit in another car (with a clear windshield, preferrably an older model to be sure) to see whether this is the case.
As a sollution, most of the cars have an area behind the rear view mirror where the windshield is not treated. As you cannot put your diamond there (it would be usesless, wouldn't it ), you can go for an external bluetooth gps dongle paired with your diamond (it actually offers a better GPS reception than the built-in one ;-) ).
try flashing a newer radio rom and .ril from this thread..

If your not "SECURITY UNLOCKED" then only flash a radio for your device/carrier and also those are for GSM phones only.
ok, which ones do you recommend? sorry i'm new to all this...
gonna give Quartz Radio 1.12.25.WSD a try... -> not compatible...

Where are you located? and who is your carrier? I usually use the newest radio rom, but download the radio rom and .ril that match's the one you have, so you can revert bact to it in the event that the GPS is worse. But I doubt that will happen.

Sorry, I linked the Touch Pro radio's.. There is a similar thread in the Diamond folders. So start by finding that thread and read the post associated with the different radios. Also some of the newer roms include a working AGPS, which will help for initial satellite lock times. But for keeping a lock, it's most likely the radio rom or hardware.
Here is the Diamond thread::::

-Download HERE
How about that one? I don't know where the .ril is, but it's very easy to flash a new radio rom, just follow the directions and afterwards I always make sure to shut the phone off for several minutes (in hopes of clearing old GPS garble out) then start up.
But I have had a lot of flakey results with my GPS and different radios.
OK, new radio loaded, will give it a whirl tomorrow
---> Noticing degraded lock-on... only 3 satellites instead of 10... but maybe better performance in the car...

I can't seem to locate a relevant thread so I thought I would just ask the question cold...
Is there a way to download the GPS log from my D810? I know this question is probably not limited to this model but it's what I got. I was travelling off-road on the week-end and need to see fairly accurately where the GPS log of the trip was in relation to the map. I know there are programs that will let me overlay the data on the map, I just don't know how to get it out of the phone in the first place.
BTW, I was using Tomtom Navigator 6 if that helps.
NOOBie question !!!! dont flame plz
this is not an ANSWER to your question rather a question on my part..
after getting the device .. i upgraded to the wm6 lsvw version..
the wiki said it has gps enabled
but for the life of me i cant figure out how to get it to work..
ive tried gmaps and gps tuner and they cant find the gps..
is there a particular way to get it TURNed ON
i tried htc site for the user manual but in vain!
so plz help
thanks
Sorry, I can't help you with that. I'm still on WM5 but I just used Trinityhacks to switch my GPS on.
I think this might be what you are looking for...
http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/
To clarify on both points- TomTom doesn't record GPS tracks. Co-Pilot Live and iGO 2006 both have options to do so.
GPS doesn't need 'turning on' if you have a GPS enabled ROM (as far as I know, all the cooked WM6 ROMs are GPS enabled, and WM5 Radio ROMs from 1.30 onwards are GPS enabled- as long as the last 2 digits of teh Radio ROM are .11 , GPOS is enabled)
[Edit- some of the new WM6 cooked ROMs don't update the Radio Stack, so you may need to do this in addition to the main ROM update. Radio ROM 1.38 seems the most stable, but 1.41 is OK. Avoid 1.40! ]
GPS aware applications will automatically turn the GPS receiver on as needed, as long as they point to the correct COM port.
For the Trinity/P3600 this is COM9 and the Baud rate is 57600. You must make sure that when you first use GPS you need a clear view of the sky, preferably outside, to allow the chip to download the very weak signals transmitted by the satellites. Once you have a first fix, subsequent fixes are much quicker.

That's GREAT! Thanks korben.
Now I notice that the website makes reference to a Tomtom .pgl (navigator log) file but NeilM says Tomtom doesn't record tracks. I am confused - does Tomtom log GPS routes or not? If so, where is it on my system?
Greetings @all,
first sorry for my terrible English.
The Ameo (Athena) is a great device and i really love it,
but there is something that let me go mad.
I´can´t find a GPS Patch Antenna for the device.
T-Mobile tell me that they can´t help me.
HTC doesn´t Answer until now.
Does any one know wich kind of Patch-Antenna I need for the Athena ?
I tried until know a Patch antenna for the Thypoon 3500, a MCX-Antenna and a MMCX-Antenna but they all doesnt fit. MCX was really close but still didn´t.
I need one because in my Car i have a Front Window with heating.
For any answer or hint i will be verry happy.
Jack
Are you SURE you need one? My ford has front screen heating, but the GPS works perfectly! The chipset seems to be pretty darn sensitive! I'm not sure the connector - in fact, which aerial socket is it on the back, the left or the right?
Look in the artemis forum
Look in the Artemis section. The premium package came with one, and I kept mine after selling the unit as non-premium. However, I have really not had to use it on any device yet.
There's a thread in there with part number etc.
Thanks, for the quick reply.
@Digital.Diablo:
sorry but i´m sure i need an external, i already tried it and i became no Satelites - I tried it with the programm Falk Navigator Pro SC and i´m driving

@victoradjei
I will try the one for the Artemis with the Ameo(Advantage/Athena) and i will Report if it fits. I don´t find in the Artemis Forum the Name of the Connectorpin. Did you know its Name (for example: mcx )?

It might not be that you need an antenna.Check all of your settings! I am not familiar with your mapping software, but there is a thread somewhere regarding problems with other map software and how they solved it.
I can use mine inside of a 10 story building with Tom Tom on it and it works excellent!
Hope this helps..................Later
mine doesn't work in nearest and costliests car or on foot in most heavily wooded either(more important for me).
so If the parch antenna works please let me know. I'm loathe to carry around my bt gps, it's something else I'd need to carry an extra charger for!
unfortunatly, Artemis hasn't MMCX. I have GPS Shop and i checked it out.
@hdbueller:
well, outside the car i have no Problem to get a Sat fix.
also oh the rear window anything is fine, Tested it earlier just for fun.
@fards: I already tested mmcx and mcx both didn´t fit

Right now i wait for the Artemis Patch Antenna, in hope it will fit.
I will report, promise

After Long Time waiting the Artemis Patch Antenna arived on Saturday,
I Tested it and damm doesnt fit. The Connector looks right but didn´t fit through the case. The hole ist too small for the connector.
Has anybody an Idea where i can find one that fits.

We just bought an '08 Altima with the bluetooth option. I can pair the XV6800 with no problem, but quality sucks. It is super choppy on my end and the person on the other end can't hear me at all. I tried my wifes XV6800, same thing. I can pair my old E815 and it works perfectly, so it's not the car. I tried a hard reset, no difference.
I tried loading dcd's clean rom 1.6.7, no difference. Is the BT stack upgraded in this rom?
Is there a newer BT stack out there that I could try?
Its worth downloading and trying the Jetware BT Extensions and see if that helps....but usually it does not change quality so much as enable functionality.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't help.
Developer help with Infiniti/Nissan Bluetooth?
I've got the exact same issue with an '07 Infiniti G35 w/navigation. I've been doing lots of reading on the xv6800's bluetooth, have tried DCD's and Custel's roms, and was just about to start my own thread, but I'll bet our cars are the same bluetooth/rom wise.
Jetware didn't help me either.
Here's the best fix I've found and it works for me consistently.
-Whence the option's available depending on whether you're dialing out or receiving, click the "use handset" button (transfers call to the xv6800).
-Shortly after press the "phone" button (transfers call back through car).
-Should work as expected after that.
Anyway, at this point I'm hoping one of the kind devs on this forum (DCD or Custel to name just two of many) might find a sec to help us out, although I'm aware and appreciate the fact that many other users are keeping them very busy on their own projects.
I'm assuming the xv6800's hardware would be most similar to other HTC pda phones (not sure what happens between GSM and CDMA devices), so here's a list of their phones who's bluetooth does work with my car (from here). It supports the bluetooth in 144 phones total.
Kaiser (wasn't working with stock rom, but works after this patch from HTC)
Hermes
Atlas
Wizard
Apache
Magician
Harrier
HTC pda phones that don't work with my car (at least not 100%).
Vogue
Elf
Titan
The Titan DOES work with an '07-'08 Infiniti G35 WITHOUT navigation (buy more, get less ).
In addition to the stock Verizon rom I've tried DCD's 1.6.1, 1.6.7, and Custel's 1.1 with no change in the symptoms.
It's my understanding the dev community thinks modding the Vogue's bluetooth for the Titan shows the most promise. I found this thread mentioning an alternative, but it seems to have gone stale on another forum. I'd prefer not to use that forum.
I understand the Vogue's bluetooth might show the most promise for general bluetooth applications (which would satisfy the most users), but becuase I plan to use bluetooth solely through this car, does anyone know if I might be able to go an easier route given the information I've provided?
I'm using radio 1.40.00, could 1.47.01 make a difference?
Can anything be learned through HTC's Kaiser update patch?
Are there any bluetooth alternatives being tested that I haven't found?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.
OK. I tried what you said and confirm the same results on the '08 Altima. If I switch to handset and back to Bluetooth, the sound is clear (weird). The only problem is, I can't switch until a call is in progress. This is a work around, but not a good one. We need a BT stack that fixes this. Or maybe firmware upgrade from the auto manufacturer.
I know this is going to sounds like a cheap shot, but it sounds to me like something needs to be fixed on Nissan's side. I've tried mine in an Accura without any problem, however both of your stereos are manufactured by Nissan.
A word of advice: I always found that auto makers should stick to what they do- namely, make cars. If Nissan were so great at BT stereos, you'd see nissan headsets.
I never bother with factory Bluetooth anymore- I swapped my stereo right away for a decent Sony Xplod system that supports A2DP (wireless stereo) as well as phone calls. The aftermarket stereo not only sounds great, but I play all my music from my phone without taking it out of my pocket. Last I checked, no stock car stereos supported this. Sony is good at stereo and bluetooth (been around the block a few times).
Complain to Nissan. Or swap your stereo for something decent.
My Sprint 6700 with BigJ Rom works great with the 08 Altima. In the fact the audio quality is better than the Sanyo Katana that I also have paired. I am dispointed that I cannt answer calls from both phones on the car headset without first selecting the phone that has an incoming call. Even my At&T home phone with bluetooth can do that although it does require you to select a cellphone for outgoing calls.
I was able to upload a contact entry from my 6700 to the car Download phonebook. However, I can not get that into the more usable phonebook directory. Anyone succeed in doing that?

You might be in the wrong forum. The Titan is a 6800, not a 6700.
yes, but this thread is discussing the Altima BT stereo. Truthfully, this whole thread should go in a more general BT forum, since I don't think it pertains to the 6800 exactly.
08 altima bluetooth
Just wanted to say thanks to Park City for posting the name of the web site with the bluetooth extentions (jetwaremobile.com). I have just recently purchased an 08 Altima with the Nav system and bluetooth. I have an Tmobile MDA with a cooked ROM running WM6 and I could not get the entire outlook phone book to download to the car. Once I installed the jetware mobile extentions everything worked just fine. I even got some additional functionality I was not expecting like signal strengh and battery status on the nav srceen. As for voice quality, it's never been an issue for me. So far anyway
As I can see, they are currently testing the Mogul with both of your cars. I don't know what they mean by 'testing', but that's what is going on right now.

I saw that too, but I don't have a lot of confidence they'll be releasing a bluetooth update any time soon. That's why I was hoping the Titan's bluetooth hardware might be similar enough to the hardware in one of the devices that DO work with our cars (Kaiser, etc., list in my earlier post) that their bluetooth software could be ported "easily" to the Titan. I'm sure the devs here are trying to get the Titan's bluetooth to work as well as possible for everyone's devices, which makes sense. However, with California's new "handsfree driving" law starting July '08, I'm only concerned with getting the Titan to work with my car.
Apparently no one's too sure if that's possible.
1. have any of you verified first hand that the kaiser does in fact work?
2. could someone research and identify the bt hardware in the kaiser, and the titan?
3. has anyone run the kaiser bt fix on their titan and tried it?
i suppose i never thought to look at the kaiser's bt. mine still functions after applying that kaiser patch..
the kaiser patch is a replacement TIInit_4_2_38.bts file
this file did not exist in any titan roms prior to 2.16
2.16 introduced this file (i compared md5 and its not the same data)
2.17, htcs supposed 'fix', does NOT contain this file
all vogue roms i have seen DO contain this file, but again its different data
maybe you guys are on to something
i will throw something together tomorrow probably...drinking time.
dcd, thanks for the help, enjoy those drinks!
1. Not first hand, I'm going off this post. That thread's also why I believe the Kaiser wasn't working with the car before the patch.
2. I've spent a lot of time trying, but have come up empty on any detailed hardware specs.
3. I just ran the Kaiser patch and the bluetooth functions the same as it does without the patch.
I'm using a rom from your 1.6.7 kitchen with nothing else added (rom's working great, btw). I had the same issue with the stock Verizon rom.
Crazy thought, but if the cooked rom I'm using is based on a stock rom that didn't originally include the .bts file (2.17), could it be being ignored?

They're pretty different. With nav you get a 10 gig hd it'll rip cd's to, the nav runs off that hd, the gui which controls much of the car is different, voice prompts are different, the available buttons are different (see attached pics), and you lose a cd changer. I do know first hand that w/o nav the bt works great with an XV6800 (got a loaner once). Again, I've been unable to find out what's specifically different hardware wise (even with the full service manual).

well, peices of it maybe. i would blindly guess that the kaiser is closer to titan than hermes, but we need to exactly identify the bt chip in each. plus its still shady then, ie the kaiser has tnetw1251 for wlan same as the titan and I cannot get their newer wlan driver to work on my device.
what we really need to look at is previous bt stack modifications for other devices. i need a better understanding of tiinit_blah. I've also noticed that the devices that work have a more extensive, or a 2nd audiopara file that sets values for some bt devices. to be completely honest right now i dont know what im looking at and i need to figure out how it all fits together before i know where to start.
Well, I tried reconnect method from both phone and the car, but neither did anything at all. The quality is still crappy as heck. Man... I reallly wish this works.
EDIT: Actually my side of the speaker was complete static, and the other side could not hear what I was saying AT ALL. This efing blows.
Hi,
I'm having a problem with my new Trinity. It can take up to 15-20 minutes sometimes for my Trinity to pick up the GPS signal, at cold start.
Eventhough this time reduces by some in case of warm start, it is still under expectations.
Im using Schap's ROM which is wicked (thanks Schap).
My navi software is iGO 7.
Does anybody else have this problem? Do you know how to fix this?

Try changing your Radio. I'm in the U.S. using AT&T - Radio Version 1.46.30.11 gets me a pretty quick acquisition even on cold start... Usually less than 2 minutes, even while moving...
what radio are you using?

are you trying to pick up the signal while moving and/or the sky isn't fully visible (in a car, near some high buildings)?
is your igo7 gps receiver settings set to proper COM port or it's AUTO DETECT?

Hi,
I am using my phonewith Radio 1.46.30.11 as mentioned below. And the GPS software is Garmin.
I am facing the huge delay for operating the SW by more than 20 min.
and if not restarting the phone the delay decreases every time I reopen the sw.
please advise for that, shall I change the ROM as well!!
no solution could be warming the GPS faster?
my phone is HTC3600 with WM6.
You can try that :
http://rapidshare.com/files/25607303/SeaSGEE.exe
It's like GPSrapid ...
Just run it each time before using the GPS (don't wait the 3 days) ... It's works fine for me ...
I've got problems with the GPS on my Polaris and I'm wondering if anyone else has the same issue: the accuracy is abt 5-15m off and it updates less than 1frame/sec regardless of the gps software I use (tomtom, google maps or garmin xt) My Radio version is 1.64.08.21 Murata and the rom pdaviet v16
Can anyone point me towards a solution for this please? Thanks!
To my knowledge gps is off target for a reason. All comercial versions are innacurate either in time or position so you cannot use it for war or something like it. If the 5 to 15 meter difference is to much I do not know.

Thanks for your answer pereirald, I knew that commercial GPSs are off so they can't be used for military purposes but the GPS on my Polaris is annoyingly slow. If I compare Garmin mobile XT runnin on my polaris with a friend's Garmin nuvi 760, his is smoother, updates faster and slightly more accurate...so any1 knows whats going on here? Is it only me with this issue or it happens on all HTC phones with Qualcomm chips?
I am on the latest udK rom using radio 1.64.08.21
I can GPS sync inside buildings
Syncs VERY fast
I also find it very accurate and def not 15meters off
Actually I also use Garmin XT and most of the time I can even pinpoint me using "Where am I?" but sometimes it does not give the right door but the neighbours. So I guess there is an up to 5 meter innacuracy. Being slower one should expect: The the chip isnot dedicated is it? It does other stuff while we are trying to use GPS. So you could try to things:
1) Minimal services running and disconnect phone (Airplane mode)
2) I don't know but that is a possibility that you will get different results with different rom. (I think I do, altough I haven't measured it).
Hope it helps

I've got problems with the GPS on my Polaris and I'm wondering if anyone else has the same issue: the accuracy is abt 5-15m off and it updates less than 1frame/sec regardless of the gps software I use (tomtom, google maps or garmin xt) My Radio version is 1.64.08.21 Murata and the rom pdaviet v16
Can anyone point me towards a solution for this please? Thanks!

The accuracy depends on the number of satelites as well.
I noticed that the GPS chip of the TC is more nervous then a SirfIII chip like the one I had in my MIO A201.
But both the MIO A201 and the TC didn't show a better accuracy then around 10M.
Thanks for your replies guys, I did some testing over the last 2 days and after taking a trip in the middle of the country with the GPS on, I was surprised to see that it fixed itself At home is not showing me 5 doors down the road and in someone's garden anymore and when I walk/run with it, it pinpoints my location within 5m. The smoothness is still not there even if I turn off the music player and any other progs that I had running in the background, but I know thats because of the lack of proper graphic drivers
So in conclusion the accuracy is down to these 3 things:
1.radio flash not os-rom update.
2.number of satellites it connects to.
3.apparently driving around a bit
Cheers!
In case you use google earth, its the program which doesnt update quickly enough. The receiver does...
The receiver has a very irritating 'feature' built in which is very annoying when trying to use your GPS unit while walking: to make car navigation less jerky and stop you from jumping from road to road, the receiver doesnt update the position anymore after you came to a stop (or move slowly, eg: by foot ). It updates again after you covered several meters of ground and keep moving. This might be useful in your car where you can move fast and steadily, it's very very annoying if you try to find something by foot. The 'feature' is hardware-based, by now no one managed to turn it off.
Edit: uuhm... yes, of course the Radio. The Operating System part of the ROM only houses programs and such, the hardware-near stuff like phone functions, bluetooth and wifi and most important the GPS stuff gets updates through the Radio-ROM. I figured this is a widely known fact...
