Problem with streaming tv and download files from the internet - XPERIA X1 General

Hi,
Can somebody help me out, because i have problems with downloading (every) file(s) from the internet with my x1, it says ''error 502'' and if i try t o download it from html page view there is a page full of strange nummers and symbols.
And another anoying problem is that i can't stream live tv any more and it says, ''your handset is not supported". It looks like some registry keys are gone, could that be?

Can you provide some links for us to try it out? That way, we'll be able to see if it's just your phone or if it is not supported at all on our X1.

Play movies from network

wow.. i just found out that you can connect direct to network shares and play divx movies without having to stream or convert.
Just go into TCPMP and do file open and put in the UNC of a network share such as \\server\video and then browse to the file you want
Now I am sorry if a lot of you are saying... well... duh... but I didnt even think of trying it and maybe there is at least someone else out there in the same boat.
Thanks for that mate. Many know, including myself, that this is possible but it is something which I am glad you made a point of. We were all once new to this type of thing and anything which can be of help to others is not a waste of time.
As they say in South London "BIG YO'SELF UP" 8)

Plese let me know in more details how to do it.
Thanks.
k..
first thing you need is tcpmp. Current release is 0.71 and you should be able to get it from http://www.tcpmp.com
This is a media player. Its small in size, supports a number of different formats and allows video full screen. So well worth looking at as an alternative to media player
Next you need you device connected to your network wirelessly.
Once you got all that load up tcpmp
then do file....open file from the menu
This will take you to a file open dialogue where you can naviagate around your pda. At the top of the screen is a space that shows you the current directory you are in. If you click on this bar you can overtype what is in there.
This allows you to use a unc style name to connect to a windows machine on your network.
So for example you have a movie you want to watch on a machine called server and you have created a windows file share called movies.
In the bar at the top you would type \\server\movies and hit the GO button
First time you try it will ask you for authentication details username, password and domain.
Enter that information and you will be browsing your file share. You can then select the movie that you want to watch and press OK
Thank for the very detailed instructions!!! I tried it and everything work fine!!!
hey I'm a n00b when it comes to network stuff, I've done it all up to where it ask for username and password and domain. I dont undertsand what u add there any help would b great!
does it mean when i boot into pc username and password? if so how about the domain?
It's ok sorted my self, If anyone else ever wonders the same yes it was the user name and password that you use to boot into xp, I left the domain clear and it worked!
its soo cool only thing bad is every few mins it stops the movie for the buffer to catch up, which I could live with but if there is a setting to down sample the video so less buffering please let me know =)
The other way is to install Resco Explorer and Map PC shared folder, then every time the PDA connects to the LAN the folder will appear like a Storage Card in your File Explorer or any other applications.

Sky By Mobile..

Has anyone got this working on a WM5 device yet?
The url's that you go to come back with
"service is not available for your mobile device".. but there are lots of JAR's and JAD's floating around for different phone types..
EDITED:
As I'm not a Vodafone 3G customer - i'm after the SKY TV Guides and the ability t mark something as "to record" and have it automatically recorded at home.....
Charlie Grillo
id be interested in this too
Can someone explain a bit mroe about this? Is it a service that sky are introducing for their customers, or an extra pay service? Cheers.
This is for current customer (for free):

try going to:
mobile.sky.com/sbm
this then checks your phones comatibility
Sky by Mobile - Is it possible on Windows Mobile?
By Gears. Published on 10 Jul 2006.
Some of you may be aware of a new service launched by Sky TV recently. If you're lucky enough to have one of their whizzy PVR's then you'll already be used to the live pause and recording to hard disk. However, recently they announced their Sky by Mobile service which allows you to get the latest news and videos from Sky plus you can now remotely set programmes to record onto your Sky+ box. Good eh?
Only one problem though. You need one of these handsets to run the software, and Windows Mobile isn't on there. I'd really like to use this service - I'm always forgetting to set my Sky+ box or I'm away from the house and I can't physically touch the remote. Last night I found this interesting digitalspy.co.uk thread and downloaded this JAR file and plonked it onto my Orange SPV C600. I opened it up in file explorer and ran it in the Java MIDlet Manager. It does actually work, I can load it up and enter my sky.com credentials, however it stops after that - I presume because it can't access the net. I can't seem to get around this and I've tried everything like opening a GPRS connection manually and tweaking with the security settings.
Has anyone else tried this successfully ? I'm trying the JAR file for the Nokia 6230 in this example but Sky hide the links so I've not found any other JAR files to test.
http://mobile.sky.com/SBM/series40/sky_S40_LR_SF_6230/SkyMobile_S40_LR_SF_6230.jar
It installs in the midlet manager, and runs, but does not connect or go any further.
Surur
ive tried the link in a few different browsers, pie, mnimo and the java based opera but no look, just says not compatible with your device, i guess we will have to wait untill the sky.com web based service is available and use the text service in the mean time
got excited when the letter came through the post, its been in the pipeline for about a year or so now
edit: looked at the website http://www.wecomm.com/ who i think are the company that provide the software for the service and they do have other products that work on WM phones, so maybe soon it will be on our wizards!
anyone know whether we are going to get this?
On a similar subject, does anyone have the software program that you need to view your sky channels via broadband? I've just registered for it, but they email the URL to the original email address that was given to them by the account holder, but my Dad never gave them one so I'm struggling to get the software!
Cheers.
I think everyone has given up on this but ive managed to get a collection of installers for various phones, using the user agent tags in firefox.
not managed to get any of them to work though! but thought they may be useful to other people.
edit: ignore this post i cant seem to upload the files!
but if anyone is interrested give me a shout, ive got about 13 different installer files, mainly nokia, motorola, SE an i think one might be for blackberry.

Streaming the BBC's Content on your PDA

The Beebotron site lets you Listen Again to any BBC broadcast – something the Beeb won’t let you do on a PDA .
The main site gives you the information and background for the project, along with the radio stations and their programmes – just click and listen! This works well on a PC, but it’s getting a bit large for a PDA. So in the site you’ll find a link to Beebotron Lite, which is a cut down version (fully functional, but without the explanations) aimed purely at PDA users.
Beebotron and Beebotron Lite also host programme synopsis information. Now you’ll know what you’re going to play before you play it (unlike the Beeb’s site where you don’t know what, e.g. the Afternoon Play MON TUE WED THU FRI is going to give you unless you start playing one of the day links…)
I made the site primarily for my own use (Axim X51v) and then realised that other people might like it.
Thanks for taking the time to read this - hope you like the site!
Cheers, Kronalias
This is a fantastic idea Kronalias! However Real Player on my Universal times-out everytime I try to play any of the links. I've tried over Wifi, and Ive also adjusted real players time-out to 100 in the registry with no success.
Anybody having similar problems?- Is the BBC blocking me because I am conecting from New Zealand? I know they block video, but I have no problem accesing the audio links from my PC.
Thanks.
Hi Vscottie
Thanks for the nice words! Now let’s see if we can get your problem solved….
When you say that you can access the audio links from your PC do you mean that you can use Beebotron to listen? If so then, as my links are the links that are buried deeply in the Beeb’s site, you are not being blocked by either the BBC or your ISP. If you can’t use Beebotron on your PC then I’m afraid you won’t be able to use it on your PDA.
You might just find that you can Listen Again but not Listen Live (or vice versa) - although I haven’t had any reports of this behaviour.
You’re the first response I’ve had from NZ (thank you!), but I’ve had two reports from Australia. These were for a QTEK 9000 (same as an iMate JAS JAR) and a Nokia N80, both of which worked fine. They are both smartphones (WM5 on the QTEK, Symbian OS on the Nokia), and both connected to Beebotron using wifi. I realise NZ isn’t Oz, but I’m rather hoping that if Beebotron works in one country it’ll also work in t’other…

I’m guessing that your Universal is the HTC Universal Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC Phone. If so, then it should connect…
I’m not sure whether you can do the following on a smartphone (I don’t have one) but this checks whether everything is working on a pocket pc:
1. On your Pocket Internet Explorer please go to the Beebotron, then pick any Listen Again link and then any show. Don't click the link, press and hold it and you should get a popup box. Select the option 'Copy Address'
2. Open Real and then File => Open Location. Paste (Ctl V) the link in and press ok in the top right corner
And it should play!
Would you let me know how you get on please?
Cheers, Kronalias
PS For any other readers, in my OP I forgot to give the link to Beebotron Lite. It’s here: Beebotron Lite
Yeah I can't work out what it's problem is. Real Player 'connects' then starts 'loading' and stays that way with its little clock turning untill it reaches whatever I've set for time-out (100 now) then reports "Response or data from server timed out." It obviously hates me
Connecting from the PC is no problem- both from the Beebs site and yours.
But I've just worked out (sorry I should have checked before) that I can't 'load' Irish streams from RTÉ with real now either, or any real stream from the net- well I can load enough to view the tag information but not play the stream.
There must be something installed on my JasJar that's causing the problems, I've turned off the PCs firewall in case it was that.- Does RealOnePPC have problems with Wifi I wonder (we have no GSM coverage at the house)
Time to try some software removal.
Thanks again

Hi Azzur
Hope I understand you correctly -
What I do is to create a word document with links to streaming TV and Radio stations. I open the document and tap the station I want. It automatically opens the station. When I close the player it returns to the word document and I can tap another station.
Mike
Mike thanks for the answer.
A program as wmp similar function does not preview one? Uncle BILL disappoints to me!! How is made not to implement one function for the added one of the addresses? Exists a better program in order to make that? Thanks!!

Map Network Drive and use a source for Media Library - HOW??

OK. I'll explain what I want to do:
I have flashed Karmba A 11.1 ROM and like it. Need to get a good analog clock - but that's another issue.
I have a NAS at home and wish to connect to the NAS to play music, videos and photos. I have spent all day today trying to find an appropriate version of HTC Network Plugin. I have it installed and can access the share on the NAS no problem, but in file explorer, the Network does not appear like say the storage card or BT share with a special icon.
The icon thing is not the problem, but I want to be able to update library in HTC Audio manager and Windows Mobile from the NAS without copying files to the storage card. Also I want to see my photos automatically in Album.
Have tried hunting for registry settings and I am stumped. I have searched and searched and cannot find how to. With CE 0.8 I believe that the network plugin is included and works OK - so there MUST be a way to get this working. HELP!!!
Lots of people readin - nobody writing. Nobody has any idea? I know it's possible, perhaps an experienced ROM cooker could help...?
TO be more specific - and bump this one up in hope of a solution to my problem (perhaps people with different WMPlayer can test also) here are a few points of clarification:
With a working Network Plugin, in file explorer, when selecting the location (top left) there is a choice of Device, Storage Card Network (this is what is not working, preventing me from doing what I would like) and BT drive etc.
With the more recent Wm6.1 Manilla 2D ROMs (maybe the WMedia Player version???) I do not get this selection.
I have hunted around the registry and thought that the FSRoot value set to 1 might sort it out - but nothing's doing. Anyone - please help!
Another cry for help.
OK - i have tried to install all of the different ROM versions that I remember flashing (I'm in a try ém all out mode at the moment). Before flashing my first Manilla 2D ROM I had this working - but now I cannot find out with which ROM?
Does anyone know how I can make the Network Folder appear as a storage device in File explorer - this will solve my problem.
BTW This thread is starting to look really cool with my avatar plastered all over it! Come on - someone crash the party
Network Plugin Cab.
Search for the network plugin cab and install this. providing your computer is setup to allow sharing you should be able to map a network drive.
Folder path will be something like "\\computer\share"
you will need to provide a login for the account that has access to the computershare too.
[username]
[password]
I find disabling the usb to pc advanced network functionality fixes quite a few issues I get .
