no more usb - G1 General

Well everything is in the topic.
my usb port does not recognize anything except y headset ???!! i can't even charge it.
Anybody have a clue ?

turn your phone off and then plug it into the wall charger, see if the led changes to charging, if it does, its a software issue which could be solved simply by either going back to a previous nandroid backup or a fresh firmware install off the sd.
If you have a compressed air canister, try cleaning the usb connector aswell, some debris couldve gotten lodged there.

already tried all that and nothing the led doesn't light

Got a slight problem with my HD2, hoping theres a reset or something for this, but for some reason my HD2 wont charge or sync anymore, I can charge the battery in an external charger and pop it in and it works fine, but I can't charge it in the phone, or connect the phone via USB to my computer anymore, even in the bootloader red green blue white screen USB does not come up anymore
Anyone had this issue before?

Are you sure the option [ Setting/About Phone/Battery/ When phone is on,..] un select?
cheer!
that option has not been selected, thought I went in and TICKED the box, then turned the phone off and still not even the orange light next to the speaker came on to indicate charging so I went back into settings and UNTICKED it again.
This is not just a problem when plugged into the computer, this is a problem when plugged into the standard wall charger that was shipped with the phone.

So far, it can not be the problem with software or sth like that
when the phone is off, all is hardware control and it will charge when you connect the charger (if everything working fine)
So, I think:
1st : you try with another cable ( may be problem here)
2nd: the problem with the USB port ( can you self repair? may be just some ease solder action, sth lose inside)
3rd: mainboard problem *_*
Hopefuly the problem is cable issue
Tried the same cable with another HD2, the other HD2 charged fine (theres 3 at my office)
Tried 2 different cables with MY HD2, same problem
Tried differed wall chargers, usb plugs, computers, car charger... all the same, no charging
Hooray Main board problem

HD2 cannot be recharged and cannot be recognized by computer

It is really weird. When the battery was low yesterday, I plugged the phone into a wall charger and found that it was not recharged. And then I plugged it into the USB port of my computer, it was not recharged either. The computer also failed to recognize a new device was plugged in.
I tried different computers and different cable. No recharge. No recognition. At first, I thought the battery must be dead. But this cannot explain why the computer did not communicate with the phone. So does it mean the micro-USB port in my HD2 was dead?
The only thing I did recently was to install the latest Chucky Rom. Is it a bug from the rom?
Any help is highly appreciated!!!
its a cgonfig you can change in the settings menu, start, settings, in my phone then the menu on the lowest level, about the phone, battery, there you can mark if you want to charge while connected to the computer, why its not found, i dont know, but know you can charge

The OP mentioned he can't charge when connected to the WALL charger, so changing the "Charge when connected to PC" option wont fix the fact he can't charge it thrue the wall i'm afraid.
You said you installed a new ROM lately? Maybe revert back to the previous rom or a stockrom to test? If this doesn't work theres a big chance your USB port might be broken... (or a defect charger, but since it doesn't get recognised on the PC aswell i'm a bit afraid it might be your USB port on your device)
doesnt sound like a rom issue since charging happens even if the phone is switched off, so its not handled by the rom. could be a repair job... you can get cradles of ebay that have a battery slot for charging spare batterries. That wayt you can flash wait you need cable working to go back to stock spl... doh!
does anyone know why my hd2 wont turn on unless plugged in and all it does is reset at the "stick together" screen? i was recently stuck at the "this concludes your beta" screen.. but after i hard reseted it.. it kept doing this.. please help!
check your battery

Have a look in the usb socket on your phone. There should be what looks like a piece of plastic(contact strip), sticking up in the middle of the socket. If this is not there, you have broken the usb socket and will need a new one.
If it is there, is it leaning over to one side (no gap between it and metal socket)? If yes, very carfully try to move it away from side.
If contact plate is there, with a wooden toothpick (do not use anything metal or hard plastic), wipe over contacts, as these sockets tends to fill with dust and lint from pocket.

Thanks for your input. I tried all the methods you mentioned but no luck. The phone is not charged. So I guest the USB charging socket was broken ...
So for HD2 owners, be care of your usb charging socket. It might be very fragile.
Make sure the battery pins in the phone aren't bent. If the conracts aren't good you won't be able to recharge. or so I've heard.
I had the same problem
The only thing that help me was doing a hard reset. I tried to charge it with different chargers, different comp. At one point I was thinking to bring it back to tmobile, but luckily the hard reset did the job. One other thing, I was not able to do the reset by holding down the buttons, I had to do it from settings->security->factory reset and enter 1234. Good luck
I had this very same or similar problem yesterday. I thought I had killed it with a rom update but it turns out I had somehow managed to bend the middle pin on the battery terminals. it would still turn on on but would not charge at all & battery was just draining. When plugged into USB or wall socket it would not show the plug symbol it just showed battery as 100%. once I straightened the middle pin up all was great again.
how did you streighten the middle pin in the usb port i can hardly see anything down there

[Q] Defy reboots after plugging in usb

I recently flashed my Defy with 3.4.2-179-2 CEE DEBLUR and it reboots every time I plug in my usb cable. It doesn't matter if it's connected to a PC or to the power adapter. Anyone have the same issue and know of a solution?
I did a google search and found someone complaining of the same issue but didn't see a solution.
More background:
I had an issue with my phone and when I went to do a factory reset I was stuck on the google screen. My power ended up running low to the point where I couldn't run the bootloader. I had to charge the battery manually with a battery charger and some wires. I monitored the voltage throughout to make sure the battery was ok. After flashing the new SBF I found that things worked fine except whenever I plugged in a USB cable it would reset. I put CM7 on the phone hoping it'd help but the problem still lingers.
I will probably attempt to flash another SBF or maybe reflash the existing one.
Does this problem only exists if the phone is fully booted or does it happen if you plug it in while booting also? Because if its happening while booting too maybe your usb cable is broken and theres a short in the cable that makes the defy reboot. Have you tried another cable? And what about plugging the cable in before booting the phone? Tried this already?
I encountered this problem occasionally before. Dunno why.
There's 3 possible issues here apart from software/firmware causes.
1) The USB cable might shorted.
- This can be confirmed by using multimeter to test the usb cable. You will see a shorting between to wire in the USB cable.
2) The Phone USB port might shorted.
- This can be confirmed by using another good/new usb cable and test it with multimeter.
3) Phone battery broken(happened when you charge it using wire and external charger).
- This can be confirmed by trying another Defy battery and charge it.
hi farsight,
upon further inspection i'm pretty sure the usb port is shorted because if i squeeze the bottom of the case the phone will reboot.
is there any way i could fix this? I've looked at some videos for the disassembly of the defy.
hi iregistry,
yes the issue occurs if the phone is fully booted and when it's booting.
quit risky la.. if under warranty, why not claim/RMA?
hi adie, i bought it new on ebay and i'm not sure how the warranty works on that.
[solved!]
after further testing I believe it was because the battery contacts were not as close together as they were originally due to me manually charging the battery. It must have been right on the very edge because it would work normally but just squeezing it would make it lose connection.
I used a pin to push the contacts closer together and hope this solves the issue. I've plugged in the usb and squeezed the case and so far everything seems ok.
IMO this is a poor design on motorola's part. the raised contacts on the phone are nice but the contacts on the battery are poor.
Thank you everyone for responding.
Had the same issue. Your solution worked on mine as well. Pushed the contacts on + and - in, and it worked! Thank you!
I had the similar issue. I had attempted to charge battery with external universal charger and looks like since then this issue where "phone would reboot upon unplugging the power source" started. Now as mentioned in this post, put the +/- pins bit closer and tried unplug and no issue observed so far.
Thanks. :good:
I too have the same issue. I tried to charge the battery with some direct USB.
Today I dropped the phone on my bed from 2' height and it got restart. But its quite surprise to see the effect of the USB plugin with the battery connector loosing up
I am thinking of putting a small alumunium wrapper on the +/- connector. Let see.

Name these parts?

Hello all,
Yesterday I replaced my daughterboard on my Nexus 4 because my microUSB port was fried. I am trying to activate LTE on my device, but it turns out I am not able to connect my device to my computer. I tried everything there is; factory reset, cache partition erase, five different USB cords, both Mac and PC, debugging and MTP ticked off, installed all different sorts of drivers. No matter what I do, I cannot get it to work. The phone is charging when I plug it in, it just will not show up as a device on my computer. I tried my friend's phone on my laptop with the same USB cable and his popped up right away. I thought I had replaced the daughterboard perfectly, but now I am second guessing myself.
Does anyone know what these parts are (circled in red and blue) See the attachment. Would they have anything to do with data transfer?
If these parts don't have anything to do with data transfer, what could possibly be wrong with my device? My device is in stock form, and even Google support is stumped.
Thanks in advance!

the red circle looks like flash mem,the blue one looks like some sort of JTAG probe but i never opened my nexus 4 so i could be wrong, don't quote me on that.
blue is gsm antenna coaxial cable connector (nothing to do with usb), red is daughterboard to mainboard connector for loudspeaker, led, mic, usb, vibrating motor

Problem recognizing charging, headset, and PC connection

Hello boys! I have a very serious problem with my LE PRO 3. Since yesterday, the following is happening BUG: When I connect the charger, it does not load immediately. It only loads if I reboot the device. And if I take it out and put it back, it stops loading again. This also happens when I connect to the PC. The device only recognizes if I leave the cable connected and restart. With the headset the same thing. It only recognizes if I leave it connected and restart the device. I'm on the Cydrass Google edition ROM, and my device is the x720 version. I have already switched to other ROMs (LineageOs, Ressuection Remix, and even the Chinese STOCK ROM 26s, and the problem still persists!) Apparently it's a serious problem recognizing my USB port I do not know what else to do! Please, help me!
even first buy , do you have problem ?
To Vitor_147
Remember, if you change the stock original LeEco rom you cannot say "have a problem with my LePro3", it's no longer the original combo "LePro3" (hardware + software) so expect (and accept) anything (better or worse!) and report the defects to the rom developer.
Now some helping things!
Apart to clean the phone usb c port and to try a new usb cable, you can:
With the usb cable connected, switch the usb debug off (or on) (developer options) then check if your computer detect your phone.
Even if your computer doesn't detect the phone or your phone seems not charging battery, if the usb cable (and charger) is good in 99% of the cases it charges the battery even if not at full charge rate (expect a minimum 4 hours charge time).
Before to give up, the last try is to bring your phone back to factory conditions with everything (but everything!) under the exact conditions of how it came out of the factory, then you can start over there and have an idea of whether the phone has a hardware defect or if it's just a matter of software.
I hope you solve the problem, if you find the right solution please report it here, so other users can learn how to solve this problem! Cheers!

I already wrote this up in Omni thread, so I'll keep it short. I've also been experiencing this same issue for a while now, it first happened on stock rom, reboot solves it. Darko tried a fix in his eas kernel, seems to fix it (so maybe somehow kernel related). I believe it might be somehow related to the usb-c controller, cause I found cases online of similar issues with pixel phones (i believe the controller manufacturer is the same as in our phones). I actually know the exact moment when my problems first began, after I used my OTG adapter to connect a usb mouse. Few hours after that, the phone wouldnt charge.
{Disclaimer - this part is purely my theory}
I think it maybe somehow related to a safety "switch/fuse" of sorts, or something to do with static discharge or something similar, and here's why. I did a loot of trial and error since the first time it happened to me cause it scared the sh*t outta me, thinkin my phone is broken. I am vigilant about careful handling of usb ports and such, (ocd-ish really) so theres no way I physically damaged it, its not loose one bit, cleaned it out, tried wiggling the cable around anyway, has no effect, so I excluded the possibility of a faulty port/soldering. A few occurences to note
No1 - if I plug my phone in the charger first, and then plug the charger in the outlet, it breaks the port, I have to reboot to fix it. But plug the charger in the outlet first, then the cable to the phone - no problem. (Static discharge of sorts?)
No2 - since it started happening, the only way my usb-c OTG adapter works is if i first plug the adapter in the phone, and then the desired usb device in the adapter. If i try to plug the adapter in the phone w/say a usb stick already connected to it - no go, doesnt work.
Oh... I'm sorry for what happens to your phone! It's true the safest way to charge a phone avoiding current surge/spikes/shocks is to plug first the charger to AC outlet, then the usb c plug to the phone, then the usb plug to the charger. If possible, never plug/unplug the charger to/from the AC outlet if the phone is connected to the charger.
When the phone is full charged, first unplug the cable, not important which side first, then unplug the charger. If the phone is still charging, better unplug first the cable from the charger side to avoid micro spikes on the usb c port.
If you cannot obtain a normal behavior of the usb c port neither with reflashing the phone with the "qfil" system, perhaps a logic port of the usb c port is burned or simply in undetermined state, in the last case a total battery discharge may reset the logic port state and the phone can works fine once fully recharged. I'm sorry I can't help you better at this time! Cheers!

@orsonbear, thats my train of thought aswell, micro discharges occuring while plugging/unplugging causing the controller to freak out, or potentially damage the tiny connections (micro usb only had 4 wires vs 24! in usb-c). But I believe the problem lies somewhere on the software/firmware side, mainly because a reboot solves any issue I have. And also I just remembered, the first time it happened to me was a couple of days after I updated my firmware while updating to 19s, or 20s, cant recall precisely. Anywho, for me it's a minor nuissance, not like the OP who can only connect his phone once before rebooting (I can go for weeks before it occurs).

Yes,
I thought about letting the phone down completely, and see if that does not happen anymore!
Same problem here
Days ago it start happen, exactly how you say, i never change the stock software and it start happen randomly, I have to reboot to recognize anything that I plug into the USB c port, I try factory reset and change from 26s to 23s and it keeps happening so maybe I'm pretty ****ed, someone help me, in my country no one will fix the port u.u (sorry for my English).
Hellao! I'm having a very similar issue, charging works fine and the pc detects the phone but OTG and the audio on my headset is not working. Did someone of you find a solution to this problem?
1. x720, x722 or x727?
2. Where did you buy the phones? (Store names)
3. What kind of USB-C cable were you using? The one that came in the box? Have you used other USB-C cables and adapters to see if it works?
This could be hardware failure due to a lack of QCing from LeEco (just your average hardware issue) or a USB-C cable issue. It's ver. 1.0 on all LeEco Pro 3 models (right)? So I can't say it's the cable for sure. Has anyone attempted to take the phone apart to replace the port? do they even sell the port replacement?
Similar problem for me. About a month ago my headset stop working and the phone did not recognize it at all, tried with the adaptor to 3,5 mm jack and did not work either. Charging worked though.
Found a replacement chip with usb c port and ordered. Yesterday i replaced the charging port, but still the headset do not work at all, and connection to PC does not work ether. Charging still works as usual.
I ordered the phone from grossoshop 7 month ago with their rom. Tried this evening to upgrade the rom from 5.8.018 to 5.9.020, still grossoshop but no difference... It should not be a hardware problem as i replaced the type c port.
Should i try to flash another rom to see if there's any difference?
Any other suggestions?
Thankful for any ideas

Have you tried switching cables? Could you have broken a contact or something while swapping the port out? Have you tried putting the old port back in to see if the computer recognizes the phone with it? Unfortunately you're gonna have to try everything, even if opening it back up again is tough. LeEco phones aren't exactly known for their build quality. Are you x720? Well, flash whatever ROMs you can, I guess. Might as well try everything.

Yes, I have tried to switch the cables so no problem with them. Have not done a swap back again as the problem seem to be similar as before, so maybe a change to a different rom will be the next step for me. If change of rom does not work, maybe then I'll try to swap port again.
And yes, It's a X720
Thanks for fast reply.

Maybe it's not plugged in or attached correctly so the phone doesn't detect it. Sounds like a hardware issue to me, in all honesty. I once took apart my iPhone 5 to replace the non-functional home button and it wouldn't work no matter what I tried. I had to remove the battery, reseat it, and then attach the home button again. It finally worked after a reboot.
just report in on this thread, I as well recently purchased an x727 experienced the similar issue. Basically as described above no matter what roms i test is always have some sort of camera errors when charging.
sometimes charging doesn't work or camera doesn't work I have to reboot to get it to work. extremely annoying. I think it is hardware related.
Anybody else have a solution?

This my advice to anybody considering buying this phone don't why you will get zero support from letv.
I got luckey I have zero problems with phone .
I recommend spending more money and getting a supported phone by the maker.
If you do buy one buy it from Amazon where get a warranty on it.
