Beta testers wanted for TraQPro (tracking application)!! - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV Themes and Apps

Hi all mobile lovers,
i have developed an application to share your location information with your friends and employees. I know that there is Google latitude and others, but hopefully this products is different and focusses also on the bussiness side / implementation of these technologies.
Some features:
- Send TraQ Code to your contacts, so they can follow you 'live' for an hour online.
- Map View shows your friends live on the map including speed information,
when GPS is used. I mean really live and animating and all
- When TraQCode Contact is also destination, the route is calculated and drawn on map, including live destination distance and ETA !!
You can watch a demo video on http://www.vimeo.com/paltraq for how TraQPro works and looks like...
I need some beta testers who want to test the functionality of this product.
so where to ask then @ xda developers . Currently it only works with VGA/WVGA devices!
People who want to download and Beta test, please register at:

How Hard to program a GPS auto web submitter

The Idea is an Application that Autoposts to a Web Page the Current Time, Lat, Long etc to a persons personal Web Handling page....
Thoughts for Preferences Would be something like
FORM FIELDS
Send Lat as: <LAT>
Send Lon as: <LON>
Send Time as: <TIME>
Send Elev as: BLANK
etc., etc.
SEND CRITERIA
Distance Changes >: <10> <mi>
Time Increments : <30> <min>
Dont send if Distance not met in time <checked>
Resend Later if Data Send Fails <checked>
WEBADDRESS
Send to: <http://gis.mymapsite.com/Upload.cfm>
Send as: Form <unchecked> or URL <checked>
The concept is that it sends out on a timed, distance, or time/distance combo bases to this site your URL Position so coders Code write their own server side code to log this data or do whatever with it.
this example would look like http://gis.mymapsite.com/Upload.cfm?LAT=45.6789&LON=-90.45679&TIME=10162008
I've been web app programming for so long that i'm not sure I could just pick up VB as fast as I'd like...if somebody likes this App and is willing to tackle it I will donate both time and money...if Not could somebody tell me What i need to get started programming this myself i.e. Programming apps, SDKs etc...I dont have any Visual tools...so what would be the cheap and easy start?

I do need something Diff but That is a Freakin Awesome App
As soon as Alltel has "MY" Diamond in Stock I am so there with that Tool.
My problem is I Want to use my Own code and my Own Geospatial Database for this so i really just need a very tamed down tool for what im thinking...
...I suppose when i get the chance I could see how the submit works and tame it from there and junk his server code for mine...
THANKS FOR THAT POST...I LOVE THE APP

[APP] [2009-02-13] DarkGPS : Send GPS coordinates by mail...

Hello,
Here is my first application made for my HTC a while ago...I decided to publish this after a friend asks me if this kind of application exists for WinMo...
Developed in c# (.net CF 3.5) it allows to send GPS Coordinates by mail, like the "Here I am" application from the iPhone.
For accessing the GPS on Windows Mobile, I used the SDK from Microsoft (Samples.GPS)... Thanx Kevin for testing and comparison with its iPhone ^^
It should work on any Windows Mobile having a GPS. But I never test this app on other devices!! (mine is HTC Diamond Touch)
CAB File : Download
Source Code available on demand!
For AutoUpdate of this application just go to Config then Check the box "AutoUpdate" and restart the application (not sure of the "first run" but should be "Off" by default).
The "Send Account" is the account to use for sending mails, the "Mail Account" is the account to use for getting contacts (I'm using "Send by Hotmail" and "Contacts are ActiveSync"...)
Do not hesitate if you have any bugs, problems, ideas, ...... I'm really "open" to critics
Regards,
DarkAngel
!!Warning : this is beta release!!
Release 0.3 : add of English language
Release 0.6 : added AutoUpdate support and small things (More info on my blog : HERE and HERE)
Any testers for a beta version ?
Oh yeah
Can you give me a package in french please
i prefer
The application should be in french if your ROM is french...
I tested using a winmo simulator for english and my HTC for french (using Aztor ROM in FR)
Are you using an english language ROM ?
I may add in the next release an option to change the language (have to test this )
Tested
Here is my feedback even when I was not able yet to get my GPS coordinates
on a Touch HD, but I am in a hotelroom right now keeping the phone before the window.
- User should be able to modify the mail before it is send out.
- I don't like the contacts list that pops up in big fonts, I think it is smarter
when the mail is generated in the background and than opened in the default mail application, most of the time outlook.
Than a user can select the mail adress for the TO field like he does normally when sending emails and he is able to edit the mail also.
It should not be difficult for you to generate the mail and than show the mail in the mail application...
Nice to have : Expanding the application to be able to send an email or SMS.
Tomorrow I will try more...for now it looks great !

Feedback #2
Yez, i got the coordinates and succesfully send the email to my gmail adress and opened it in gmail.
Clicked on the links and you see where I am great.
Application works, but need some modification to give it a boost amongst users :
- Generate the mail in background and than open outlook so that user can edit mail and select recipients.
- Add nice GUI
- Add option to select whether to send by SMS or Mail.
That's it.
Keep us informed about updates.

Hello there
As a developer I make things in 2 steps : first technical demo, then a nice GUI (have a look at the step from v0 to v0.4 of my other app DarkRuler).
I'll add an option for mails : "direct send" (able to edit default message) or "open in outlook". No problem and nice idea
"Add a nice GUI" : any proposition is welcomed, I'll try to improve this a little for other resolution than mine (HTC Touch Diam). I've seen things on the web that could be fun (having city from gps coordinates) but well, this would need internet connection so not sure.
SMS/Mail choice : I was thinking of it already!
I'll publish the application on CodePlex for next release. Should be in 2 weeks (more or less) because many works here...
Thanks for the feedback, appreciate it and was waiting for this kind of feedback to continue development
Looks good - I'll keep an eye on this.
Seems like a useful application, I hope the development goes well.
Really nice app. Works like a charm in my Blackstone. I'll be looking forward that new enhancements that are in the queue
Would you like a spanish translation? I can translate the program, or at least the default email text, if you feel like it.
hey TS, can i know how u get the latitude and longitude? mind to share the code? i'm doing the application that return me back the latitude and longitude... quite blur as this is my 1st time using c# .net and with mobile environment...
really looking forward to hear from u soon..
u can email me at [email protected]
and MMS ?
how about to add MMS as well, so you can send picture of place you like with GPS coordinats together?

I have a Dream - Automatic Birthday App

Hey There,
i have a dream...
As i am not really in time with the birthday's of my friends i watched out for some app that will remind me everytime someone had a birthday.
There are some apps they can do this. Some can sync with Contacts/Facebook and the Calendar. Some can import the dates form facebook to the calendar. And some can send semi-automaticly sms to my guys.
But i'm too lazy to think. I have a phone that cost about 500 € and simply the phone should think for me
I want an app that will be able to read the users contacts and/or facebook contacts. Sync the Birthday-Dates with calendar and/or facebook and send automaticly a congratulation sms to contacts that i've choosed.
Not only remind me to congratulate. Just do it!
Thats what the App must do:
- Read every day the contacts / events.
- Check if there is an Birthday.
- Check if the user set the Contact for automatic sms
- Create automatic the sms with name and year of the friend and some user defind message and send it.
- Notify the user about the send sms.
Expamle:
Max Mustermann's Birthay is today. Hes born on 01.01.1980.
The sms can be:
Happy Birthday %Name (max) to your %Year (31)th Birthday.
Thats it.
I'm not a good programmer, i know a little bit about html, php and visual basic. But nothing about how to program an andoird app and i've not enough time to lern it.
For an Developer should it be easy to do that?! I would buy it or donate something
It's just an idea
Thanks for reading. Sorry for some bad gramatic!
This is a perfect example of what's wrong with today's youth, and I'm certain that the OP is young, perhaps 25 or under.
You want to automatically send Happy Birthday greetings to people? You can't be social enough to phone them and tell them directly? How about a hand-written card?
So many "youngsters" have become so anti-social, they have lost the ability, and the desire, to actually speak to people. They spend all day inside on the computer, or texting each other when, in many cases, the person with whom they're texting is only a few metres away. (shaking his head)
If someone is important enough for you to want to send them a Happy Birthday text message ... CALL THEM!
Otherwise, they simply are NOT important to you.
Personally, if I got a Happy Birthday text message, I'd consider the person who sent it of little value to me, and I'd be insulted.
Have a great day.
missunderstood...
oh, you're right in some point's.
BUT
I think i'm not anti-social. I'm forgetable! I know today, that a friend have his birthday tomorrow but tomorrow i'm too busy and forget it till the evening.
It's not fact that i want only automatic birthday sms. I want automatic birthday sms to dont forget birthdays. Every guy who had an birthday will get his card, present and mostly a party from me.
Sure someone would use such an app to send everyone a greeting just to send it.
Not me! The congratulations would be later in the real world and in an social-interaction. But the first shoot will be the sms.
Understand that?
Have a nice day, too!
You live in an automated time - use it as a tool!
Aside from philosophical arguments about the use of automated birthday greetings, this is a good programming exercise for those who are still learning Android app development. It's simple enough that one person can manage it, but not so simple that a monkey could do it. I may give this a try.

Thats a nice comparison I think its not so hard to do that job. Unfortunately i haven't enough time to learn it by myself.
If i can help anything, i'll do! Graphics or something...Just let me hear about it.
I am one of those users who would forget birthdays BUT i would rather have the app remind me to call of buy a birthday-card instead of automatically texting. It feels like cheating...
It's the same thing with receiving a envelope with money instead of a proper present. Wouldn't it be nice that friends would actually take the time to really think about your present instead of putting some money in a envelope?
In short, I would have the he app remind me every 3 hours at that particular day! That would really work for me!

Thanks
A telegram group would be pretty nice to have, although I don't really see people really having any use for it. Telegram is still pretty obscure I'm most places even though its suite of features is impressive. I use it as my primary way of communication with whoever I can.
I guess I'll give it a shot for a few days and see if I can find any uses for an opo group. Hopefully I'll see some of you there.
