[Q] How to get Compact Qwerty back on Duttys - Touch HD General

How can i get Compact Qwerty back on Duttys Xstreme 2.3 rom? Any suggestions?

I have the exact opposite problem, I have a stock ROM and never want to see Compact QWERTY. I exported the reg keys, if you are daring I can send them to you. I have no idea what will happen if you run it but I assume it will install the keyboard.

I'd like to know this aswell I used to use the compact qwerty alot, less keys, slightly bigger keys and less finger movement.

Well if you want to try the backed up reg keys for compact qwerty before I deleted them from my system send me a pm with your email. I don't know what will happen but if I had to guess it would install it for you.

HTC Diamond Keyboard Issues on Mogul

Hi Guys,
after playing for about a week with the touch diamond keyboard on my mogul I've come to the conclusion of being the best SIP touch keyboard i've ever used BUT (here is the good part)
*"DO NOT INSTALL IT ON YOUR MOGUL UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR CONTACT PREDICTION TO GO AWAY WHILE WRITING A MESSAGE OR EMAIL, SUPER SLOW INPUT WHILE WRITING AND ALSO IT TOOK 9 MINUTES TO UNINSTALL."*
with that being said it is up to you if you want to give it a try.

Other issues are that some are not able to uninstall unless they hard reset, issues arise with your physical keyboard.
These are not issues that arised on the 6800, but rather most devices out in the market. It has been stated in the thread with the leaked attached software that the software is very buggy and doesn't have proper testing.
Install at your own risk. I personally rather use the HTC Touch Keyboard and Keypad which is almost identical except for the skin.

Does this break the autocomplete feature for the slide out keyboard on sms/mms contacts too or just for the SIP keyboard?
Carlos, do you have a cab to upload for that HTC Touch keyboard? Cannot find by searching XDA.

edit: this cab breaks autocomplete too, huh?
any workaround? That is a rather good feature.

auto complete only seems to work when you use xt9.
but other then that idk if there would be a way to be enable it.
I installed it and used it for a while... i must say its a great keyboard for a touchscreen... but then i realized the main reason why i got the mogul vs the touch, THE HARDWARE KEYBOARD!
This completely screwed up the autocomplete in emails and sms, text predictions and SIP options, even when using the hardware keyboard.
Uninstalling was a nightmare... so I did a hard reset and went on with my happy mogul...
I still think its a great software keyboard, but for a devise that its designed to... not the mogul
The Diamond keyboard seems to work on my Telus P4000 running DCD3.0.4 with the only bug being that when you press a key the icon for the selected key is really big but this goes away as soon as you life your finger so it isn't a big deal. Autocomplete seems to work for me but I never used it much so I may not be testing what others say is not working. If I create a new SMS and start typing in someone's name using any of the Diamond keyboards (since there are 3) or the hardware keyboard the name comes up before I finish typing so I don't think there's any issue with that.
The Touch keyboard is almost the same you say? I may have to try that one...
touch keyboard
Aledc78:
Just for clarification, the keyboard you had so much trouble with prediction and uninstalling was the Touch, or was it the Diamond? I'd really like to give the touch one a shot. My large fingers are WAY too big to even consider using the default WM6 keyboard, its a joke. I can't give up prediction though, and as a general rule I steer clear of anything that is a "nightmare" to uninstall.

I managed to uninstall Diamond keyboard. I used SK Tools to uninstall and voila...it got uninstalled
Stay away
Yeah, this keyboard is really a pile of crap. It broke all my auto complete, and it also broke the ability to page down by pressing the space bar in a browser. And mine wouldn't install at all, it sat there for over 30 minutes doing nothing, I had to hard reset to get rid of it.
Seriously, if you want a device without a keyboard, just buy a touch. A physicial keyboard is better than any soft ketboard anyway
I found the latest version of the CooTek TouchPal keyboard with the Diamond theme works a lot better on the Mogul than the Diamond Keyboard. It's not free though.
CoolTek
Still, compared to the Diamond ported keyboard, CoolTek sucks.
I'm surprised that the problem with inputting contacts and having them autocomplete via the Hardware Keyboard is still broken. The hardware keyboard is generally preferred, but the Diamond port is amazing in small spaces / one handed typing.
anyone know of a fix?

Swedish keyboard

Hello!
I've been using "whc ST Keyboard + eT9 M v1.6" to get a swedish keyboard for my HD since i started to flash it with new roms. But now on the latest roms it doesn't really work like i want it to do. I get no phone keypad (thats what i want) only full qwerty and keyboard. So does someone know what to do? It's not so smooth and easy to send text messages when every letter has a key when you have big fingers
So swedish and phone keypad!
if you use resco keyboard pro you can use this theme which I have modified to get the Swedish letters in it: http://files.hela.nu/iSkin_SV.zip
Will look like this:
That's better than nothing but i really would like to have it like the old phones
[1 .][2 abc] [3 def]
[4ghi][5jkl][6mno]..... style...
Isn't there any way to just change in the registry and get the swedish on the original keyboards?
Use FingerKeyboard2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=487677
There is a pack with swedish letters in there that you can use. I modified it a bit to fit a little better, but it's not necessary. Simple installation and alot of settings.
I have to say that it is the best solution i've tried so far.
Why not the EZInput ones from the newest HTC Roms... works great for me!
(Has both regular QWERTY & PhonePad with great T9):

Hm thats just what i looked for. But for some reason i get no keys at all after installing that... strange... :I
Which ROM are you using at the moment? Stock ROM?
My friend is using his original Swedish ROM with a similar KB installed pre-installed... I'm using Dutty (used L26 before) which had EZInput pre-installed and I just added the Swedish cab... works great I must say. If using the regular Qwerty it's as close to iPhone as anyone will get...
//Niklas
me neither

I'm on Black Pearl v 2.1 at the moment. Starting to get a little annoyed over this keyboard stuff now. Taking a lot of time
I don't like to use qwerty because there is a lot of buttons and they are so small so even on the stylus it's hard to get it right after a beer or two D)... or when youre walking, riding the bus or in a car or whatever.

Blackstone Full Qwerty Keyboard?

Greetings from a little country in the middle of Europe
I ‘went to flash my Touch HD, with the Topaz ROM, in order to get a new TF3D that has landscape support. All works fine. But as I also like to use Putty for Telnet and SSH sessions, I'm in need of a full QWERTY Keyboard in order to have ESC and CTRL buttons.
Unlikely, this ROM doesn't have the stock HTC Keyboard, I want to have.
As Finger keyboard is not the solution I aim for, could someone please provide me a CAB file of the original HTC keyboard?
All help is highly appreciated.
Best regards,
Yves
I think there is an old HTC keyboard here - post #3 (not sure if it's the one you want though):

Many, thanks for your reply.
Gona try this out. Will give some feedback lateron.

Anyhow, Thank you thery much.
Did a little search on google and this came up:

I have never used it so can not say if it works or not, but still you may try it and see if it does the job

AE Keyboard Mapper not working on HD2! (desperately needed for bluetooth keyboard)

Hi folks,
for the last few hours I have been trying use AE Keyboard Mapper to adjust a Freedom Universal bluetooth keyboard (German QWERTZ-layout) to my new HTC HD2's (original German ROM) obviously English driver.
Previously, this procedure worked perfectly for the combination of my old HTC Touch Dual and the afore-mentioned keyboard. Unluckily, if I use AE Keyboard Mapper 1.3 to switch, e.g., Y and Z on the HD2 both keys end up dead.
Is there anyone who got AE Keyboard Mapper working on his HTC HD2? Is there another application out there which does the same job?
Thank you in advance!
You need version 1.3.
Also, HTC apparently does something with sense that breaks AEKMap, so you should try changing sip (keyboard software). mine works when I'm using the Eyron (Hebrew\English) sip, but with the HTC sip the leo ignores any press of remapped keys..
Ohg, and don't let the site confuse you - it's still freeware
http://ae.inc.ru/aekmapdownload.php
Nearly forgot, I only ever tested it on 1.61...
Thank you for the quick response! I'm already using version 1.3 so that shouldn't be the problem. But as you described, the HTC Leo simply ignores any remapped key.
Could you please go into more detail relating the Eyron solution? I just visited their consumer website but my Hewbrew is a little rusty... ;-)
Is there some English third-party software to achieve the same thing?
No ill will towards them, but their site isn't much good because they only offer a 7 or 14 week demo of the software itself. I played around with AEK in the meanwhile and it works on Topix 1.1.1 rom (based on 1.61 if I'm not mistaken) with Finger Keyboard, which in itself is one of the finest freeware I ever used.
I suspect HTC circumvented some of the input routines upon which AEKMap relies for injecting the altered keys. Try it with Finger Keyboard 2.1. If it won't work I'd suggest installing a free Arab or Hebrew Lang extender. It just has to be there to make the device "unstreamline" what HTC did.
Thank you for your support! Your hint was exactly what was needed as I installed TouchPal in the meantime and now AE Keyboard Mapper works like a charm!
Has anyone used AE Keyboard Mapper to get the extra/special functions of the igo stowaway keyboard to work?
Hi,
I installed TouchPal and FingerKeyb, incl. the hebrew driver. Still can't get the stowaway keyboard work with AEK. Remapped keys simply are ignored. How exactly did you make it work with either TouchPal or FingerKeyboard?
If I get it working, I will try to remap the complete stowaway keyboard and publish the driver.
Thanks!
which version of Think Outside Keyboard do you have, English Layout?
Hello,
I am trying to make AEKMap work on my HD2 (installed the brand new ROM, 3.14)
I have the same problem as mentionned above: all remapped keys are ignored.
I tried to install FingerKeybore, TouchPal and even NullKeyboard, still doesn't work
Does someone have an other workaround? Is it because of the new ROM?
Also, as Dirty Harry mentions, the layout of the external keyboard is not the same as the HTC keyboard: AZERTY VS QWERTY !
Maybe there is a way to find the config file for the QWERTY and modify it?
Thanks in advance if you have any lead!
sorry i'm late to help you!
i had the same problem.
i found a solution today that is working for me:
i modified a file for my german qwertz freedom universal keyboard 2, then i changed the hd2 sip (softwareinput/screenkeyboard) to anything else, but not the standard-finger-input-softkeyboard from htc, because it seems to cause that mapping problem!
a tip: you still can use a good sip-keyboard parallel in use of the bluetooth keyboard. i use fingerkb instead. totally free and also available in many languages!
and don't forget to modify the aekmap files by yourself to work with your keyboard!
i will attach my keyboard config for the german qwertz freedom universal keyboard 2 (hid-mode) - tested on german windows-mobile 6.5 rom.
known problems: this keys are not working and also not recognized by the aekmapscan.exe:
<>| = opens start-menu - i tried to map this keys but then i can not use the hd2 win-key, because it's writing a "<" when pressing, so i deactivated it!
alt gr is not working (no characters like @€{[]}\~ etc)
fn key is not working (maybe only with the escape-key)
start-key is not working, use the <>| key instead
i hope i could help someone in the future!

Not getting on very well with keyboard - HTC HD2

Hey all,
Have had my HD2 for about 1 week now. I do love the phone, but am not liking the keyboard at this moment in time. I am forever making spelling mistakes, and keep hitting the wrong keys. Before any of you say, NO, I ain't got fat fingers!
Any of you not keen on the keyboard, and have you come across any better keyboard apps? Besides the SPB keyboard, as I ain't prepared to pay nearly £12 for that app!
Cheers
take a look at this. it helped me alot.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=604831
or use another keyboard like swype or slideit. I had the same issue, it was like the keyboard couldn't handle my typing speed, there were always letters missing. but since I use slideit it is a real joy to write texts.
Keypad
I used phone keypad on hd, with t9, not bad. But My bud got me to try swype? WOW!!! Have to give it fair chance, watch video on tricks to use it, it is the best, I hear slideit is great too!
Vnkeyb with hanoiwap skin for english
I tried many many keyboards (stock, swype, slideit, SPB, Vito ...).
Settled on Vnkeyb (freeware) with hanoiwap skin for english .
Give it a try and increase the pressure time to 800 ms. It also has CTRL key (cut paste etc).
Downloaded it here at xdadev.
EDIT: I have now discovered and switched to FingerKeyboard which has the same features and much more + 2 xda support groups.
Try the sensitivity tweaks first of all - they help a lot.
If you still dont like - try Fingerboard 2.1 or Swype and SlideIt.
Tried using swype, but it changed my passcode, so I was unable to lock my handset. Had to HARD RESET. Luckily I backed my phone up via SPB backup a few hours previous prior to my ROM upgrade! Phew...

that is a known issue with swype, and it was mentioned here many times.
I prefer SlideIt because it has a german dictionary, unlike swype which I can't find one for
