Hello
I did have a search but didnt find anything.... please be gentle if its been covered!
When I try to download something from the Market, 9/10 it'll just sit there at 'Starting downloading' but never actually download the program until I reboot the phone then it'll start (and install just fine) It sometimes works properly but not very often....
Is it something I'm doing wrong? any suggestions?
JF v1.43 RC9 Rooted btw.
Same happened to me once on JF 1.42
Canceling download, waiting, whatever didn't help until reboot. Only once, though.

Hi,
Google pushed out this update on Wednesday, and I've been unable to install it. The phone repeatedly attempts to download it in the background, but never does anything with it.
If i try to manually trigger the update, it downloads, goes to "Download Complete - verifying", then back to the download screen. I've tried over 3G and WiFi, before and after a factory reset. No luck
Any ideas would be very much appreciated! Everything else works perfectly fine
if i cant fix it, I may try Hero... but id rather fix it
If your phone is rooted, it will download it, then fail to install it.
According to phandroid you could install it manually....

I am not sure how , but i'm sure someone else could indeed explain
I am having the same issue - has anyone got a solution that they are willing to share ? Please ?
Hey all,
I've been trying to search for this issue but couldn't find and answer so I decided to post it here.
About a month ago I decided to install the CyanogenMod4.0.4 ROM on my G1. I remember I was able to access the Market because I downloaded so apps onto my phone, but over the last 2 weeks, I can't get it running anymore. Everytime I go to open it, I get the 'force close' message. I've tried turning my phone off and on to see if that cured it but I still get the same message. I also noticed one of my apps doesn't work at all anymore (Shazam) which makes me wonder if I might of accidentally changed a setting somewhere which is not letting it work. I had downloaded a few apps from the market when it did work and some apps work properly and others don't. I hope this doesn't have anything to do with the ROM because I really like it and want to keep it installed...
any answers would be great, thanks
have you tried running fix_permissions? that usually clears up a lot of problems.
no, I haven't tried that yet. I don't know how to run that. Where do I go to do that?
well, I figured out how to do fix_permissions
I ran it, rebooted my phone, but I still have the same issue. My Market doesn't open.
i guess I'm going to have to just simply re-install the ROM?
I know there's a new one out so I might just do that, but I'm hoping that I don't continue to have this problem when I update
You could always re install 4.0.4 again, that should repair the market and it should just upgrade so all your settings will still be there.... have you got the CM recovery bootloader installed? if not, do that firts, its a life saver.

No, I don't have the CM bootloader, so I'll have to get it and I'll try that. Thanks!
When I try and DL something from the market whether it be an update or a new app, the DL never starts. The only way to get it to start is to reboot the phone, then as it is booting everything, it will start any DLs I had going, but once those are concluded and installed, if I try to DL something else--same problem.
I'm rooted and running Myn's Warm 2.2, but I don't think the ROM is the problem because everything was working fine. I normally use App Brain, but the problem persists even if I use the regular market app.
Anyone else have this problem? This is really frustrating.
Try clearing out your Market data, and removing your SD card.
Here's a tip that will actually work: Open Google Talk. It should try to sign in, and most likely won't be successful on your first try. Keep trying and eventually it will sign in and you will notice all your apps will start downloading.
So, I've recently bought a new vibrant and at first I was able to download some apps after booting, after a few minutes though I can't seem to download anything anymore, the downloads start and the download notification appears on top then dissapears after a second. Hope someone can help. I've tried everything, I've cleared all the cache/data(from checked in service, gtalk, market, etc...), signed out and logged into gtalk, uninstalled market update. I also tried doing a factory reset and even reflashed the rom back to JFD from JI6 but the problem still occurs, after I either hard reset or flash it to stock it works for a few minutes, from 5-30 minutes before the problem occurs again wherein it'd either stay at starting download or the download icon will appear at the notification bar, then dissapear after 1 second. It's been driving me crazy for over a week!
Hope someone has a solution.
Thanks!
This happens to me at times, but after clearing the market apk cache I'm able to download apps properly. Try to clear it a few times before deciding to reinstall the apk. Also, speaking from experience, I dont think that flashing different roms would help too much. Every time i flashed a rom the same problem came back and i would have to do the whole "clear cache" thing over again.
hi, thanks for the help. I've already tried clearing the market cache and other apps but it still doesn't work. I've read of a new market app version 2.2.11, I tried downloading it to the phone and installing it but the phone says something like "error parsing package".
Im experiencing an error on every application I try to install or update. Error reads "Download was unsuccessful, please try again"
I'm hoping the store is down and everyone is having this problem...if its just me any suggestions. Its been doing this for a couple hours so I flashed to 1.26, updated to 1.57 and than updated to 1.83.
I know I'm rooted as I can use Root Explorer.

the last time that happened to me, i was out of space internal memory, so nothing would install. i clean up all my caches and remove unneeded apps and stuff worked again. not sure if that is your problem.

I had that happen on my dell venue. The fix is trivial.
Plug your phone into your usb cable, and set it to mass storage
then install. It will work fine.
It fixes itself eventually (in my case), the usb is fine for the interim

Well thanks for suggestion..didn't work for me either. This is crazy as this is a fresh install...I just flashed and updated...
Just a heads up...I was panicking because this lasted for about 6 hours and than all of the sudden just as I was going to go to sleep, it started working again. I believe it was something on the server side, nothing I did....needless to say I stayed up late to get as many of the apps I needed as I was worried about when my luck might run out...
I flash to 1.5.7 and update to 1.8.3 yesterday, then I open Market, it said like that 'there's a error, please try later'. I just reboot my atrix, and open WIFI, try Market, it's ok now.
PS: the apps downloaded from MarKet is here: /cache/download**.apk
