g1 has wrong time zones? - G1 General

So time skipped ahead an hour tonight and since I was up I checked my phone to make sure it was good and wwell, it wasn't. I checked my settings, on automatic...turn that off....go to pick from a list and for some reason eaast coast is listed as -4 hours GMT...was wondering if this is evereyones like this or if maybe its a theme problem...

Same problem here.

Texts coming in but time is 3 hours late

stock ROM.
i'm getting texts just fine but randomly it will decide to time stamp them 3 hours earlier, so if i have a bunch of texts i have to scroll through them all until i find the new one that it thinks was sent 3 hours ago. it is pretty annoying. anyone know how to fix this? soft reset didn't do anything.
it's often the networks fault when sms's are delay'd
i would try putting the sim in another phone for testing
same here
since yesterday ive been getting random texts with the timestamp 3 hrs earlier, and i also have to scroll thru to find it. my computer did something to the phone yesterday and basically deleted anything synced and then resynced. its been doing this ever since.
weird that we would get this same problem at the same time.
this is really annoying
Not to beat the horse but i've been having the same problem since this morning. Everything was fine all day and night yesterday. I've received about 8 texts or so since 8am EST this morning (it's now 2:20pm EST) and about 3 of the texts have had the problem. Pretty annoying. Assuming it's the network like someone previously suggested.
the person said the network was delivering them late. that has happened before too, but these are being delivered on time, but the time stamp is 3 hours before the text was sent. since 3 of us had the same problem starting yesterday or around then, it must have something to do with the network, even though the messages are being delivered on time, it is just the time stamp that is wrong.
weird.
yeah i thought it was something wrong with my particular phone but now since all three of us are having issues i feel "better".
hopefully t-mobile fixes this soon, its really annoying **crosses fingers**
Yeah, and the wierd thing is that it seems like it's only happening with specific contacts too. Looks like it's happening with only two people out of the 7 people that have texted me today.
yeah it's weird, but only 2 people have texted me today, and only one of them messed up, while both contacts messed up yesterday
this has also been happening to me, what phone service do you guys have, i have tmobile
I just thought my phone took a crap. but with the above posts I guess it was the network. mms are always late but this is a first for sms. tmobile needs serious improvement on their network issues
Maybe the Network Wizard will fix the problem? Just thought I'd throw that in there.
well my network settings are set the way tmobile set them, so i don't think it's anything we can fix on our end. it is them.
Im having the same problem since about yesturday, and my carrier is t-mobile,
so I think it has something to do with them.
Not to beat that already dead horse, but just to reiterate, I too have t-mobile and I have been receiving text exactly 3 hours late. It is very annoying and I am calling t-mobile ATM. Thanks for letting me know it isnt just me.
tell us what they say. last night it was nuts for me. i would get a text with the proper time stamp, and then one 3 hours earlier (but you know, it was actually received at the the present) and then one from the same person that would have an accurate time stamp

They told me that it was "only your issue and no one else in your area has complained about it." They offered to send me a new sim card but it seems like it must be a network issue and not a hardware one because we are all experiencing the same thing. Could it only be modded phones? I changed the rom on mine, been meaning to for a while. I cant say if it has happened again cause I havent gotten a message :-X
I live on the Northeats and was previously running Touch-IT 5.0.
you should have told them that there are reports on the internet of people having the same issues.
i'm in the southeast with the newest stock ROM. so it is definitely a network thing, not hardware or modded issues.
i'd call myself but i'm not the account holder and they make you give all these account numbers SSN and crap
well in addition to the time stamp being wrong now my sms are coming in 24 hrs late. I am afraid to ask whats next.
wow. mine are just 3 hour late timestamps. what is going on here?
I have also been getting delayed texts... sometimes like 10 minutes but can be up to like 9 hours late. I live in Seattle, WA

not registering the network time

hi
Have any of you guys experienced that the automatic time setting (the time the actual network sending) doesn't work?
I set mine to automatic so that i didn't have to do anything regarding setting the local time and dates..
The reason why i'm asking is that sitting here 1hour before i actually had to get up hence it did not register the network time
Can anyone check or confirm?
-TB-
I noticed that time and date were set, but time zone was 2 hours off. Had to set it manually...

I had the exact same problem (GT-i9000 SIM unlocked, on vodafone UK), I waited a few hours and the time was still saying it was hours ahead and in tomorrow (!!)
I ended up setting the time manually then re-selecting the network option. Not sure if that will help keep good time or not .... so far so good.

^^thats exactly what i experienced.. unlocked phone as well..
Maybe it has something to do with the phones not being branded?
But for now i haven't ticked the network time.. Ill let you guys know what happens

yeah same problem finally had to set it manually, shame. Why did I sell my black desire for this piece of trash!
Thankfully i didn't buy it on contract otherwise would have been lumbered with this crap for 18 months.
Strange mine works fine on Vodafone UK. Just won't display the phone number, Wonder if its because I ported from orange

Seems to me that the initial release of this phone has been quite buggy. I'm still on the shipped firmware (JF3), though might go for a MoDaCo kitchen cooked ROM at some point.
Previously I had a Nexus One and that took time from the network fine.
Same thing happend to me. When I started the phone for the first time, it didn't update the network time at all. after some time it came, but it's very various when it works or not.

HD2 Leo TMOUS Time Issue

So has anyone had an issue with their HD2 Leo giving the wrong time? I was visiting family back in Richmond TX for the week and everytime I went to Richmond TX my phone would move up an hour and when I went to check the time it would say Eastern Time Zone. Im assuming it thinks im in Richmond VA. Does this everytime. THen when I would go back to my other home in Sugar Land TX it would move back the hour to the correct time.
Anyone has a wierd issue like this with your phone? I would figure only people possibly living in a city that has a name common in other states might have this issue. I was in another town called London while I was riding and my phone would think I was in London UK.
im in sugarland, and my phones time has been acting weird all week, maybe its due to my android install but its too strange that this could be a coincidence..
you have to set the phone to local time and you can do that by going to the alarm clock and selecting the world clock and then put the green dot on "my location" and then the phone will automatically adjust the time based upon where you are.
I'm having the same problem. It seemed to go wrong after I tried to install andriod. I have re flashed the stock ROM but the phone is still acting very strange as far as the time is concerned.... Help?
DST?
im in the UK, and we have juyst put the clocks back by an hour after British Summer Time has ended (DST) on sunday 31st October.
since then my HD2 has attempted to reset the time and keeps randomly changing it, yesterday is was showing as no longer on BST and still showing me an hour ahead, today it has randomly changed from 10:30 am to 1:30pm.
not quite sure what is going on with it, when ever i request carrier time it keeps reverting to 1 hour forward but not on BST.
hopefully it will reslove itself over time. if not looks like will have to turn off some of the location services and stick to manual city location within world clock.

Random time on phone

Hi all,
I have Windows Mobile 6.5, CE OS 5.2.21869 (hope that is enough info!)
I am on T-Mobile and sync with Exchange 2007. I am in the UK. I have signed up for the sharing of Orange network. Time zone set to UK.
I have not used my phone for a while and digged it out (only used for going to site for work) just after the time has moved back one hour. Since then my phone is changing the time to 1 hour forward the last few days. I put it back to normal and it changes itself a few minutes later. I thought this may be a sync thing so I set sync to manual but it still does the change of time. When I got off the train this morning in London it had set itself 5 hours forward! First time it has done that.
I cannot find the option to disable time zones as the T-Mobile website suggests. I have a sort of official rom but due to doing this nearly a year ago, cannot remember which one precisely. I have never had this issue before.
Another thread already opened for this problem.
a bit more help would be good like a link? I used the search first and found thousands of items which were not any help.
I worked it out myself. When I go to Orange for a signal my phone classes me as roaming and my visiting time zone was a few hours out. I changed my visiting to the same as home time zone and all is ok!!

EVO and/or Sprint issue today.

On 2 occassion today my phone has had the incorrect time. When it had the wrong time, I could still text and make phone calls. It was 9AM but was displaying noon.
I unchecked the option to obtain the date/time from the network. I then checked it again and it corrected the clock in the top panel (place where the signal and mail icons display.) But the clock on the beautiful weather widget was still off.
Then it happened again randomly. It was 1:50 and it was showing 7:50.
I rebooted the phone and it seems correct now.
Never had this happen before. Now, I don't know if this is coincidence or not but the phone did a software update 2 nights ago.
Any thoughts?
Whiteice
Then a bit later today, it did the same thing.
same here
dude, I've been having those problems ALL EFFING DAY today. I have myself half convinced it's because I flashed the new rooted OTA update, along with the radio kernels posted on here. What setup are you running? Are you stock? Have you installed the new OTA update? If someone on here can figure this out you're my hero.
As a side note, when my phone time was off, it said in my settings that it was pulling time info from the "w. africa" time zone... I'm in Michigan. If I refreshed the option to "load time from network", it would correct for a second then go back to africa... wtf

Everything on my EVO is stock, nothing rooted. And I did the OTA update 2 days ago via WIFI.
well I'm somewhat glad to hear it's not because of the root, but it's still disappointing. I've tracked it down to the new radio kernels though... and I believe the reason is the cell network boosters some buildings use. My company I work at has them, and now that's the only place I have this problem. Didn't have it with the old kernels, but I do with the new ones. It's fine everywhere but at work where the boosters are
I don't remember when hut recently my evo also had he wrong time, I don't remember and of the details but I was recently and it seemed like I notes it twice in one day....
Im on stocked rooted 3.29
