Hi!
Do anybody if HTC will send me a shipped ROM if I email/contact them? Since I need a shipped rom (my phone is bricked and CiD locked)?
Thx in advance!
No they wont.
I tried a couple of times.
if you had an account in club HTC you may can go to the support page for yor device enter your serial (under battery) and download the rom this always worked for me
Or just google the shipped roms -_-
They're kinda everywhere.

Hi guys, anyone know the way to overcome this?
How to upgrade to a higher ROM?
Even HTC's website won't let me downloading the ROM saying that the upgrade aren't for this device!!!
Please!
p.s. sorry I'm new to winmo...
regards!
use a gold card in sd slot or just install HSPL first
wtf is a gold card? i keep seeing people refer to it but never what it is, i imagine its a sim card with a toffee penny wrapper stuck to it lol
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591314
Basicly its a sd card with its unique serial number run though some software but as its no longer free just use hspl if you dont have a goldcard.
Forget about the goldcard, you don't need one so long as you have a copy of the original rom available, which you do. Hunt it out in the official roms forum. First post, first link, 1.43 section, its listed there. Thats your backup, then instal hspl and you can flash what you like.
Your HD2 is locked to o2 (UK) ROMs only so you cant put any of the official HTC ROMs or any of the custom ROMs from the "HD2 ROM Delvelopment" forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=534
because of this your always be running out of date software as the phone operators are always so slow at releasing updates if they do at all.
BUT if you download HSPL from the above forum thread "[HSPL] HowTo flash everything"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433
and install it to your phone your then be able to put on any ROM you like. Don't worry its near impossible to muck anything up and you can always put the phone back to its original rom, just do a little reading if your still not sure.
Great Guys! HSPL helped!!! I've upgraded...shame I can't manage to download Rom 1.66 as it always crashes and the download in general is sooo slow (not the internet issue)...but maybe with a bit of patience I'll get it at the end!
Cheers once again!!!

HTC have now listed a new ROM upgrade (1.72.206.3 released 27/04/10) for the HD2 on their UK support website (htc.com/uk)
Let me know how you get on with it as when I enter my o2 serial number I still get the error message you mentioned. I have sent a message to HTC support...just waiting for a reply.

all you o2 guys that cant down load have been able to get 1.66 from htc's site for months now this rom is purley for the forgoton few (like me) who got the phone as o2 launched and locked down (no wifi router etc) I ran this rom for a day and it nice and snappy fast but its still not wm 6.5.3 so i am back on touch-x again now the 2.07 radio in the o2 rom was quite ok in my area when I used it a few months ago but the 2.10 in my opionion is a match for recption with better battery life just my 2 cents hope it may help some of you
What about Virgin Mobile? Will they get a Rom Upgrqade???? they seems to have been left out of the loop even though they were the first (technically second) carrier of the phone.
Hi all,
first of all appologies if I am posting this in the wrong place but I don't think it quite belobgs in ROM development .
My question is basicaly how do I find out what CID lock is on my HD2?
I bought the phone sim unlocked and all is fine. It works fine with my Virgin sim (UK). I would like to upgrade to the latest official ROM as I don't feel ready to experiment with cooked ROMs just yet.
However when I log on to the HTC web site and try to download a ROM it says "Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device."
I have tried it from both the UK and Europe web sites but get the same result.
The current rom shows no branding of any sort, also there is non on the phone itself.
Is it CID locked to an operators SIM's? If so how do I find out which and will I be able to get a ROM from them if I don't use them?
Or will I have to go the HSPL route and go cooked roms?
Any Help or guidance greatly appreciated.
Regards
Clive
There are truely unlocked phones, and then there are those unlocked but the serial numbers are blocked on request of the service provider. Vodafone, O2 and (I'm guessing) Virgin do this so you can only upgrade when they OK the ROM release.
You can install HSPL which gets around all that and lets you explore the wonderful world of cooked ROMs...read this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
ROM lock and SIM lock are not the same and not connected.
If the HTC website says invalid serial, then the ROM is locked. (Probably to Virgin, if that's where you got it from) and you must wait for them (virgin) to release the update. That is the ONLY way to install a new rom without using HSPL/SSPL
EDIT - Oh, and your line "Or will I have to go the HSPL route and go cooked roms?", , , , HSPL isn't just for cooked roms, it will let you install official HTC roms too, if you want, not just cooked ones.
I didn't get it from Virgin, my SIM is Virgin and that's what I put in it. I bought it privately. I'm guessing then it is CID Locked to Vodaphone or the like.
OK so it looks like HSPL is the route to go?
If I want to install an official HTC ROM how can I download it as I have to enter my serial number and it gets rejected? Are they available elsewhere?
Am I likely to loose anything (apart from guarantee ) by installing latest HTC rom and any advice on which one? I guess by that I mean EU or UK versions?
Thanks for the replies by the way much appreciated
Its pretty important that you know who it was locked to, because to uninstal HSPL, or to fix it if things go bad, the very best thing to have available is the stock rom. As for losing guarantee, if you bought it privately then you already lost that, right?

If this is a UK T-Mob HD, then its a contract phone and seems strange that it is up for sale so soon. Unless it has been stolen - I don't think we should help with stolen phones, unless you're willing to gvie me the IMEI number so I can check here with T-Mob.

Im not exactly sure if you want help making your internet work with your sim, or if you want help taking the tmobile rom off and putting a stock or custom one on..
If you just want help with internet settings then download the attached file and install on your phone. Then run the connection setup program in the start menu, connections screen and it should set up your internet and mms settings for the network you select (if its available).
If you want to put a custom rom on your device then follow my flashing a leo rom for noobs link in my signature to install HardSPL and then you can flash any of the roms in the rom development section to take off the tmobile branding and give you whatever you want.

What network are you trying to use it with?
I'm not too sure if you can change the connection settings easy on the T-Mobile ROM, I'd recommend flashing with the HTC unbranded ROM and then you can just select your service provider and it all works sweet.

I work for T-mobile and the only way you can change these settings is indeed to change to HTC unbranded ROM or any other ROM of your choice.

You must have flashed one of the TMobile Test Roms during your travels, which has that splash screen on it. Custom Roms dont include a splash screen so it wont be overwritten when flashing other roms afterwards.
Download the attachment and unzip to a folder on your pc. Sync using your usb cable and run the included customruu.exe file to flash back the original htc splash screen.

Hello, I've recently had problems with my HD2 touch screen..It is not responsive at all. I am planning to send it back to HTC for RMA + repair, however I'm pretty sure I need the stock radio + rom for it.
I have the HTC HD2 T8585 and I don't remember what the stock rom + radio are...I remember one of them being 1.66 or something..however I can't find any download links.. could somebody help me? Thanks
edit: I just got off the phone with HTC, they said I can't send it in for repair because I'm in Canada and I bought this phone from China.... -_-
does anyone know how to repair this problem? I cannot slide my unlock tab because the touchscreen doesn't work..i've tried reflashing and hard resets and pulling out the batteries..it sometimes work for a few seconds and it stops after that or as soon as i put the phone to sleep...

i've tried that?! but when i entered my serial number, it says the current download is unavailable for my device..!?!?!??!! -_-
Yes, same here.
My serial SH07GNW06558
Does this mean that this might be a bogus HTC?
SH07GNW06558 is not HTC HD2

This serial belongs to a different device, not HD2. Sorry.
Virgin mobile recently replaced my HTC HD2 handset as the screen had completely frozen (after 11 months into my contract) despite soft reset, hard reset, reset to factory default and rom upgrade.
However, the rom version of the replacement handset which is a re-conditioned handset (not brand new as they were out of stock) is only 1.66.351.1 whilst the rom version of my first phone had been upgraded to 3.14.405.2.
When i enter the serial no. of the replacement handset into the HTC website, it says that the rom upgrade is n't suitable for that device ?
Although using the original rom is n't really a problem, the voice / sound of the co-pilot application which i had bought and worked fine on my first phone does n't seem to work and the twiitter app (mo-tweets) which i used on my first phone also crashes after 10 seconds of use.
Apparently later roms are supposed to be more stable and less buggy ?
Has anyone else had this problem on the HTC website of serial no's not being suitable for their HD2 handset - someone suggested that i could use my old serial number but i was afraid that it my invalidate my warranty?
From the sounds of it (someone correct me if I'm wrong) your replacement phone is branded or possibly foreign, so the ROM you're trying to download isn't suitable.
I take it there's nothing in the apps list suggesting branding of any type?
You can either try downloading some of the branded ROMs to see if you can find one which works, that will tell you what brand it's locked to.
I'm on O2 for instance, and they've yet to release a 3.14 ROM so I can't download anything higher than the O2 1.72 ROM from HTC.
I have however got hold of the generic 3.14 ROM and use the goldcard technique to load it onto my handset.
it means the handset it locked to a specific network and not unbranded so thats why you cannot use the htc site to download
thanks to both of you for your replies. I had read that some providers (O2 and Vodafone) HD2's were locked but virgin HD2 were not, indeed my original HD2 allowed the latest rom (i've still got a copy of it on my laptop).
I just don't understand why Virgin have locked the replacement (maybe because it was re-conditioned and not brand new, or perhaps its because i only have 6 months left on the contract perhaps ?)
I've also read other people who used 'other people's' serial numbers to download the rom update's from the HTC website. So, when i asked HTC support if i was allowed to used rom update that i had previously downloaded, they initially replied yes, but when i mentioned that the serial no. of the replacement gave a 'un-suitable for your device' response they asked me to call them up (rather than respond in writing)
do anyone know if i attempted to install the latest (3.14) rom onto my replacement HD2 whether ;-
a. it will actually damage the phone ?
b. whether it invalidates the HTC warranty (as the 1 year warranty from virgin runs out this month - but the HTC warranty will run for another year - although i don't want to not use Co-pilot and mo-tweets for a year)
