A lot of HTC PPCs have a sound loag problem: See f.i. the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=412065
Is there anything similar (exactly every 5 minutes there is a smalll gap in the music playing, independent from the player Software) at the HTC Dream / G1?
Thanx!
Nope, I came from a Diamond and can tell you it doesn't have the same problem the Diamond has.
i can say though the phone vibrates for several seconds before teh rigntone starts, i guess you could consider that a lag.

Hello,
I have noticed that every now and then the music stops for a few ms and then starts again..this happens both with wired headphones and bluetooth ones.
it seems to me that this could depend to the stand by mode...this means that if I start music and leave the telephone on it is fine but if I turn it to stand by mode (switch off screen) it starts doing it.
I have also tried pocketplayer, pocket music and the integrated player and they all act in the same way.
anyone else can confirm this? and if so any solution?
cheers
same issue here!
does this to me too
i just ignore it
Other Players than the HTC one completely stop in Standy.
Test mortplayer or media player if u want.
So do it as u always did on older devices: Turn of Screen instead of tunring device in standby.

I would if I knew how......advice most welcome
bind a key to display switch, or some Players like Mort or Media Player can assign Turn on/off to a button only as long as theay are running.
I use GSPlayer, no such issues here.
I just turn off screen while listening to shoutcasts or local music.
I use GSPlayer too, but I do have the same issue as eroG
Me too
Have the same problem with mine - a UK T-Mobile MDA Touch Plus, purchased 5 days ago.
Does it with HTC audio manager, media player, and pocket player 3.5.1. Definitely not the MP3s as if you re-wind the file the skip isn't there. Tends to happen about once every 3 to 5 minutes and lasts about 100ms. Slightly less annoying than a skipping CD player, but my 2year old Orange SPV C600 and 4year old SPV C500 don't do it so don't see why this should.
Seems to also affect the Tilt - there's a thread on here about it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...=346407&page=8
Only thing that seems to fix it is a ROM upgrade with a new radio version. Come on T-mobile, sort it out!
Also get stuttering when I push the power button to ender standby, but imagine that's genuine CPU-usage.

thanks for the information. anyway after seeing all the replies mentioning the same issue I started thinking that it had something to do with the phone and
not just me (read bluetooth + phone). anyway I hope that this Radio update becomes available also for us...
or perhaps Tom' rom with wm6.1 does not have this problem...I ll let you know when I update my phone with his rom..unfortunately I ll have to wait until next wednesday as I am abroad for work.

I swapped from the HTC music player to Windows Media Player because of this. It got so bad that my HTC player would stop playing a song right in the middle and I had to restart the song! After switching to Windows Media Player this hasn't been a problem for me.
However, my connection to my BT headset is lost after every phone call which is a real pain.
With Tom's Rom this problem is gone (for me).
I know this thread is quite old already, but didn't want to make a new one. I also experience mp3 glitch on my niki (orange) but the way it happens to me seems to be more in a precise moment of the song rather than once every several minutes. Furthermore it seems not exactly a short pause, but rather a very short fragment of another song from my list playing for less than a second. Interesting thing though: when I copied some of the glitched songs back to my computer, they continued to glitch in the exact same moment. Looks like the phone (or the card maybe?) damaged the files.. It might be a completely different bug, I was wondering what you guys think about it..
After several hours I've figured it. It turned out to be something completely different. Language of the device and windows were different causing difficulties with folder names containing certain symbols. You can ignore this post now.
I see that my thread on the HD's stuttering during playback has got such interest.
Here is another problem I have found: I have been emailing with HTC support, who encouraged me to use the TF3D player, so I converted some oggs to mp3 and gave it a whirl.
New problem: the player seems to dart in and out of mono for no apparent reason. When I plug in the phones supplied with my x7510, it always seems to come out mono, I tried my top of the range Sennheisers, and it was sort of muffled, but stereo.
I came to use the phones supplied with HD, sound good, stereo, until near the end of the album, suddenly there was a crackle of static, then all I could get from it was music in mono.
anyone else got this?

Hi there -Yes - I've had this problem - see my entry - half way down the page in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=460100&page=11
I have just turned off the Touch 3D Flow interface entirely (on the Today, settings screen) and am back to plain ol Win MO interface.
I now use Win MO Media player as supplied to play my music. It looks rubbish, but no drop outs, crackles, mono etc.
The HTC techies really should test there units out more y'know - or pay US for putting in all the time to test their products and to report faults!
There is a new ROM coming, so who knows if this will be fixed in it. HTC told me to get my new ROM from Orange when it comes out. Am concerned that Orange might jack on all sorts of superfluous, marketing rubbish that will clog the thing up even more.
thanks Adeski, I am going to follow this up with HTC Support.
From where did you get the information that a new ROM is soon? and when you say "soon", is this soon as measured by humans or by HTC (as in the expression "real soon now")?
thanks

Hi everyone,
For the last couple of days I have been very frustrated with my prophet... I installed a wonderful rom from [email protected], but have been having trouble with audio playback in standby - I tried all possible registry fixes, but it was impossible to get consistent standby playback with either windows media player or htc audio manager. It always ended playing in standby for a couple of minutes, then several short sound interruptions until finally playback hangs.
As a result, I decided to try a different approach, by using the slide 2 unlock and slide 2 play apps. I really like both of them, and for a short time i thought I also had solved my problems... but, here comes the "but"... After some flawless playback with the screen off, the sound output just stops - at first I thought it was the player hanging, but when I unlock I see that the player is happily playing the music, there's just no sound coming out... and not just from s2p, no sound in the system at all... The only solution is a soft reset...
So my question is, does anybody have an idea what might be wrong, or I just have to settle that it won't be possible to have playback with the screen off...
Thanks in advance,
Boyan
I have exactly the same problem with s2p and s2u2 on my Diamond 2.
I can reactivate the sound by switching on the built-in radio but that's really annoying as it happens quite often.
I had problem like this. Install the lastest version of s2p. There is tweak 4 this.
Hi guys and gals,
I have recently stopped using my Sony Walkman, which sounds great with my Sennheiser earphones so that I can use the HD2's in-built player with Audio Booster and SRS Wow 1.5.xx. The combination sounds just as good as my Sony walkman, and delivers good quality at all frequecies.
However, I have two grievances that needs to be resolved somehow.
1) The Audio Boosters turns off every 5 mins. The only two "fixes" that I have seen do not work; the cab provided by Touch-X or the advice from the Leo Tips and Hints thread to keep the Audio Booster running in the background. Neither of these actually work.
2) The music playback always stutters when something network related is happening in the background, whether it be an SMS coming through or changing from 3G to HDSA. It is very annoying, and didnt happen with my N95, so why with a 1GHz "beast"?
Do you think HTC are aware, and is it worth asking them about it?
Thanks.
Any body care to comment, or everybody more interested in the fake HD3 and the SMS bugs?
boss i do have similar issue ....
cruel htc have looted our cash with this Buggy crap .............
i hate u htc for hd2.........

I dont hate HTC. My phone is working fine apart from the above. There may be other faults in features I dont use, but I am guessing that most of the bugs are inherent in the Sense interface. Looks like the first time they built Sense into WinMo wasnt the best idea.
hey i dont know if you know this by now but if you press the X button in the right upper corner instead of the done button when you adjusting the audio booster it´s saves it for all the songs. annoying bugg butt this is a soulotion that works. bad english but who cares i am from sweden and good luck
This update for HTC HD2 HTC Sense enhances the stability of the music application so your enjoyment of your music is no longer interrupted by the player behaving unexpectedly.
Installation Instructions:
Note: This update is only applicable to ROM versions equal to 1.73.xxx.x, or lower.
http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=938&news_id=637
Installed without problems. I had very few 'stability' issues with the music app to begin with, so it'll be a while before I'll be able to tell if it improved anything.
And yeah, dammit, you beat me by a minute!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=671207
what changes does this actually make, htc are always really vague saying what a patch does. does it by anychance fix the library reloading everytime
From time to time playback freezes for a few seconds - pretty rare but annoying - maybe this will be fixed.
Or maybe this is how HTC describe the annoying problem where Audio Booster does not automatically kick in when starting playback for the 1st time after a reboot?
the music player is always lag. unlike iphone player which is alot better
That's true, Music Player lags a lot... mainly after a couple of days without switching off the telephone and after an intense use of the player (2-3 hours)..
I hope this hotfix will solve those problems...
Does anyone has any feedback about it?
I wonder if there will be a hotfix for TMOUS, It lags so much i just dont even use that tab anymore

Not yet I'm afraid, but there are things you can do to help with the music tab, check out both of these threads:

Can someone post this cab, it dissapeared from HTC support site
using artemis v9 rom. 16gb card. much faster near instant load and scan of 12mb of music takes 20 secs from several minutes.
Whoooha - /WIN.
No lag (stop in music after every 10 seconds) any longer when putting device into sleep pushing power off once.
Old Work-around to push and hold power off and let it go to sleep from the screen with 'shut down' menu is now absolete.
After this fix just find your music, push play and one-hit power off to let it go to sleep and music plays perfectly.
Super upgrade - waaaaay to late - but glad its fixed!
Kindly

Audio booster is still not working
As my title, the audio booster is still not working properly after this update. It seems to cut out every time there is a drop in network connectivity.
This is a great shame, because for me it prodcuces the best audio output when combined with SRS WOW.
I am using S2P until audio booster is fixed, because bass level-wise, it is the next best thing. I know it is an iphone-clone along with S2U2, but they both do what I want for this particulalar purpose, so who cares!
Maybe one of the things they have fixed is where non HTC (4-pole connector) headphones make the phone act oddly like randomly redialling the last number dialled and the volume rocker fast forwarding tracks instead of doing the volume...?
Breaks Bluetooth Audio
Hello all.
I installed this hotfix on to Artemis 8.0 ROM and it broke the streaming of music to my bluetooth headset. Tried re-pairing the headset etc. to no avail. Anyone know a quick fix to return the audio output to my BT headset?
Thanks...
Guys, it says for HTC Sense. But thoes this effect WMP at all? I never use Sense to play music. But I have seen that WMP just randomly stop playing my music etc.
Any idea?
This fix does nothing for me... i still get lag, the pauses every 20-30 seconds...
REALLY ANNOYING. Although it didnt do it before, it jsut started in the last couple days, after a hard reset. ????
Does anyone have a solid solution to this problem? i dont wanna have to go to the 3rd party program EVERY time i want to listen to music.

I have now stopped using S2U2 and S2P and now using CHT Lockscreen and HTC Music again. There is still the Audio Booster problem, but with SRS WOW and Audio Booster on "Normal" it seems to be fine. I think if you choose a setting that it different, or customised then you notice the cut out. Either way, the phone seems more stable using less third party tweaks and software.
