Wifi on Touch HD - Touch HD General

Hi Guys...well just got my Touch HD to replace my ageing Orbit today (Artemis).
I have only managed to get it to work if I change the channel to channel 11 (the Touch HD default wifi channel) on the router.
Anyone know if you can change the channel (whilst typing I'm thinking reg hack).

same setup here, orbit replaced by touch hd
but wlan is no problem (ch 1).
reception is a bit weaker compared to laptop, but thats understandable with such a tiny device ( though N would be nice)

Niki or Elf ?

I just want to know which is better Nikki or Elf ?
Well the Nike has 3G with no Wifi (atm guys are working on it so hopefully should be working soon) and the Elf has no 3G but has Wifi. So it depends what you want either 3G or Wifi. the Nike is a very good phone though. The Nike has a faster processor aswell.
dual is a lot better.
when the guys get wifi working, the touch has nothing on the dual. even without wifi, i'd prefer the dual, its slimmer, faster, more like a phone, touch is great but nothing beats a keypad. external sdslot.
i'd pick the dual over every htc device out at the moment.
came from trinity to nike and must say - although gps and wifi is not working for the moment, i would again buy a nike.
pros: slider with normal keypad, feels more like a phone, quality of speaker appears to be better than previous htc.
cons: hopefully will be sorted out soon ( wifi and probably gps - maybe there will be a upgrade kit with the missing chip and antenna for gps *ggg* keep my fingers crossed - otherwise use bt gps ) but i guess elf has no gps either ...
give it a go for nike ;-)
Thanx for info . Is xda star a NIKE phone .

landrover bluetooth problem

i have a 2008 landrover LR2 and i can't seem to use my touch hd with its bluetooth system. i just got the car back from the dealer and they told me that they updated the car's bluetooth software to the latest release. but it still doesn't work with the touch hd.
the phone pairs with the car, but i cannot make or receive calls through the car's bluetooth system. i had an unlocked htc tytn II before my touch hd, and that worked fine with my landrover. i figured that there wouldn't be a problem with the touch hd.
does anyone have any idea of what i can do? or anyone else have this same problem?
i don't know if there's a bluetooth tweak/fix/update for the touch, but i can't find it. i've already installed the touch hd tweak program, but i don't know how to adjust any of the bluetooth settings on the phone to maybe make it work better.
please help.

I have similar problems with my Volvo XC70...no idea what to do, as I think the bluetooth versions are incompatible...funny because my Diamond worked fine.
If anyone has any ideas, I am willing to experiment. Thanks!
Solution..................................dont sell the HD, sell the car.......
Have the dealer get the bluetooth conecting......There shouldnt be any incompatible issues.
Try it with another type of car and then go back to the dealer and try in the same car you have to confirm that its not the HD
Hi,
See this thread. It's not exactly the same problem, but you can give it a try
Grz
my Touch HD (feb09) works fine with my Freelander2 (08) - BUT - sometimes the carkit sees a different "named" HTC. Weird ???
device name
owner name - my owner input
BT name - a bluetooth name I gave it using a "settings tool"
or string of numbers, gawd know where that came from ???
Keep trying....

Please help: Bluetooth problem

I can’t get my HTC Touch HD to work properly with my JVC KW-NX7000 Navigation/DVD Receiver in my car.
I know the two are connected!
How do I know the two are connected?
On the display of my JVC I can see following:
- The signal-strength of my provider (Vodafone)
- The battery-status of the HTC Touch HD
- The Bluetooth icon has turned blue
- The address book is copied to the JVC
When I want to make a call from my JVC, it tries to dial the number and shortly after that I get an error-notice on the display.
I contacted both (HTC and JVC) about this problem, but neither of them came up with a solution to my problem.
HTC claimed that the problem was not with the HTC Touch HD but with the JVC and JVC (you guest it right) claimed that the problem was not with the JVC but with the HTC Touch HD.
When I turn on the display of the HTC Touch HD and then make a call from my JVC, everything works fine. I found this out by accident.
(After I tried to make a call from my JVC and got the error-notice on my display, I turned on the screen of my HTC Touch HD. I was very surprised to see that at the same time the call was made by the JVC.)
For some reason, the display of the HTC Touch HD doesn’t turn on when I make a call from my JVC.
Isn't there anyone who can help me with my problem?
I have the same problem with HTC Touch Pro

SAP connection problem

Hey guys,
I'm trying to connect my HD Mini with my Audi's rSAP adaptor (which is located in the center arm rest, so it's not the Audi in-built MMI-phone module). As far as I know the rSAP adaptor is identical to the adaptors available for VW and Skoda cars(?).
My Mini ist Vodafone branded, the ROM-Version is 1.11.162.1 (87652) GER, Manila-Version is2.5.20131825.1.
All of the first attempts to connect by SAP failed. After entering the 16-digit pin the HD Mini shows a message that the "Sim-Access-Adapter" wants to use a SAP connection. After accepting this screen the Mini shows the SIM Access profile on the bluetooth configuration screen for less than a second and then the HD Mini falls back to a hands-free connection.
After playing around with settings, resetting both devices I gave up and started a support call at Audi and HTC. When Audi tried at least to provide some helpful information, HTC provided less than nothing, their DACH support totally refused to provide anything! My previous HTC devices all connected fine to the rSAP-adaptor (though they weren't listed to be compatible with the adaptor). My Rose worked fine for months and also my S710 (by using the additional rSap sw-tool) are still able to establish a SAP connection while the HD Mini can't.
Then occurred the strange thing: My Audi MMI display showed the network strength symbol which is only shown if the Audi phone module have booked into my provider's net correctly.
I looked at the rSAP module: Same thing. It actually has booked into the net, which means the adaptor was able to read the SIM-card information. Next look to the HD Mini's display: It was booked into the net too but showed the "Sim-Access-Adapter" connected with Hands-free mode.
Since I'm using a Vodafone twin-card contract (second card is currently unused) having 2 devices booked into the provider's net can be explained but of course this state was extremly unstable:
My car's adaptor catched an incoming call and when I spoke and heard the voice in my car's speakers the HD Mini stroke back, catched the connection including the ongoing-call and I needed to continue on the HD Mini, while the MMI car's display showed no connection anymore.
Just a few seconds later I must recognize that the battle wasn't over: The car adaptor catched the call, (right now without SAP-mode but Hands-free mode) and I heard my colleague on the speaker again...for 10 seconds and this toggled again and again...
Since my older HTC gadgets worked fine and also the HD Mini is showing the adaptor's attempt for a SAP mode connection but then falls back to Hands-free-mode, I think that there must be some changes on the phone, bluetooth stack implementation, perhaps something with WM 6.5, it simply looks like a timing issue?
So right now I'm hoping that anyone can provide something useful. Perhaps an expert can point me to the right direction?
My last try would be to clear my second SIM-card on the weekend so that there are no contacts - perhaps this can make the difference... :-\
Any help is greatly appreciated of course!
Thanks and cheers, Alf.
Btw: Great board with tons of helpful information!
Quick Update:
I completed a hard reset to Audi MMI, Audi rSAP-adaptor, HTC HD Mini and removed all contacts and SMS saved on my second SIM-card but unfortunately no change in the behaviour of the HD Mini.
But then surprisingly another HTC support guy dropped me a line today so it seems that my support call at HTC is currently still in progress although the first HTC support contact refused any help...so let's see and wait...
Cheers, Alf.
Hallo!
Did you get any useful information from HTC support?
I'm using a HTC HD mini in a new VW Sharan with Premium FSE (so via rSAP). In general it works, but ...
a) often the connection process fails and I have to klick on "connect" manually.
b) sometimes I only get a standard FSE connection (not premium) and when I leave my car for some minutes and come back, it works again with "premium"
c) sometimes my HD mini does not reactivate the phone module after I left my car.
Michael
Although they tried to help and provided a tracking tool which logged status information about the bluetooth communication stack I never received additional help after providing my bluetooth log.
I ended in using the HDMini with the Audi built-In Bluetooth module of the MMI instead of the rSap adapter. :-(
That way the internal antenna of the car is not in use but at least the MMI is displaying the phone contacts...
Cheers, Alf.

Why kitchen ROM on HD Mini?

I got a Touch Cruise (and a Mio550) and anyone working with WM5 or WM6.1 can feel my pain using those interfaces. Both upgrade to WM6.5
But why one would ever wanna meddle with the new HD Mini. What is it to win by doing that?
Edit: Im looking for a functional VLC-like player for Divx on HD Mini (my brother's phone). The Coreplayer will not work for me. As soon as i "load" a movie the whole OS gets in a loopback and nothing really works afterwards. Any suggestions?

keep using Coreplayer. only set the Video to GDI...
Coreplayer works fine.
about why changing... I've a Polaris (Touch Cruise) too... and it works fine with rom upgraded to W6.5 and if you are using the Cruise fills your need you don't have too change. but for me, the speed and fonctionality of the phone is important and Cruise is laking in power and ram with W6.5 for me! That's why I changed me phone to have a HD2 on mini size and I'm very happy with it...
I cant argue that HD Mini>Touch cruise, but what im saying is, why would an HD Mini owner load a kitchen ROM on his device? What would be the reasons (not counting Android or WM7)

The same reason you upgrade Touch Cruise to WM6.5!!! to keep it up to date and having the latest advancement on WM... that's all....
ad for having Android as the WM capable devices can handle Android, it's nice to have 2 OS on one device! (imagin having on yor PC a windows and a Linux OS!)
Well ok but the Touch Cruise is loaded with the oldish and cumbersome WM6.1 and the upgrade to 6.5 is a must.
Whle the HD Mini already comes with 6.5 preinstalled so what else would load a kitchen rom for. Maybe for newer Radio roms for better Wifi coverage and battery life?
As a matter of fact my bro's officially upgraded HD Mini through HTC site doesnt have as good WiFi as the one i manually loaded on my Touch Cruise. Its considerably less strong compared to mine (1.65.XX)

radio fonctionality depends also to the mobile services. for example my Cruise works better with radio 1.59.44.02 but cooking roms let the user have the best choice
