New SMS Application: Working!

i have been looking through the forum, and have found ways to do it using the registry, but i want to put "New SMS" on the left. What is the program to run?
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112\Open = "\ ???????? .exe
Thanks!
Or perhaps does anyone have the t-mobile "soft keys app" from their extended rom? this will allow me to use a GUI format instead. Thanks
Ben
Best that i know - (what i use) is wm5menu (free) - changes the menu for the left softkey. You can have just new sms or new appt. new word doc, new task etc. find attached.
thats great, works well once i worked out how to use it.
This changes the registry to
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112\Open = "Windows\wm5NewMenu.exe"
Is there a way to make it not require two clicks? As Left Soft Key now loads WM5NewMenu, and then a pop up loads giving New SMS. I'm looking for instant new text!
Thanks
VJPhoneTools can do it, somehow. I forget how, but it's on the forum somewhere!
V
Lol vijay, you need a holiday!
Vijay: If you get the oppurtunity/remember how could you post the small line of code for the registry on here for me?
Thanks!

But I do need a holiday

YES! After 2 months of trying to make left softkey "New SMS" i have found the necessaries to do so:
Included is an app from the T-mobile UK rom in the windows folder that opens a new sms. put this into ur windows file, (does not matter which rom u are usingi dont think-i have tested on o2-uk and imate kjam roms), and make the following changes to ur registry:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112\Open = "Windows\tnsms.exe"
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112\(Default) = New SMS
reset and ur away!
I thought i should share because it has taken such a long time for me to do!
This file can be run from anywhere so if you want to make new sms from the today screen etc u can.
Ben
benjdc: did VJSMS "" not work? What system are you using?
V
im using WM5, but i wanted something with no strings-no command line and other apps included. this was what i was looking for in the end. thanks for ur help though!
Very nice
Thanks benjdc, very nice app: simple and so much more useful than the Calendar.
One minor thing though -- the file is named 'tnsms_108.exe', meaning the Open registry has to be renamed or (as I did) the file renamed to match your instructions.
Cheers!

Direct link to "New Note" or "New Task"

Can it be done? I know there is a "New" menu, but, as i am customizing my Jam, i am using WAD and wanted to ad a shortcut that will lead me directly to something of the mentioned in the subject. So, the goal is to make that icon behave exactly as the click on "New Note" in the New menu would.
Im guessing there are switches that can be used with notes.exe etc, or maybe there is a shortcut somewhere to that?
thanks for ur help

poutlook.exe calendar -new

modify touch buttons function

hi
when i want to send an sms in WM6.1 i have two touch buttons in the lower part of the screen: they are "delete" (on left) and "menu" (on right).
I never delete my sms, so "delete" button is unuseful for me. Do you know if i can change it with "new sms" button ?
is quite boring to tap "menu" then "new sms" everytime i want to send a message !
Yeah dude, ur right... I think the same as u! In WM2003, the left soft-button was "new"
But u cen install WM 6.1 from PDAViet 5.2.19400, which works fine, it's stable and fast & on the main screen it has the "new sms" soft-button.....take a look:
Hope this hepls u...
yes this is what i want man !
but i have to format my pda i cannot do this right now.
someone else knows an easir/faster way ?

I guess that's not what ronzino looking for dude... He is looking for a way to change the softkey in his messaging application, isnt he?
However, if you want to change your Today's softkey, you could use this attached tiny control panel applet. Just simply extract it, put in your \Windows folder, then restart your BA. A "Soft Key" menu should appear in your Start-Settings-System after that
Thank u cgone!!!

I apologize

I know the answer has been posted but I can't find it. I have had to do a hard reset and forget how to change the "contacts" softkey to the Today screen to "New SMS". It was really quite handy.
Can you help?
I may change my name.
It seems there is a setting for this.
Time for my nap.
Sorry

Debranding Dutch T-Mobile MDA Vario 5

I am very satisfied with my MDA Vario V (T-Mobile' s implementation of the HTC Touch Pro2). However I don't like the typical T-mobile layout with the pink colors. In my search for the standard HTC layout I found a well working CAB-file. Unfortunately installation of that file slowed down my MDA significantly. No wonder because that CAB-file installs 2200 Manila-files in the Windows directory.
Although I'm not a specialist, by replacing less than 90 files I achieved (virtually) the same result , without any noticeable speed loss. I have added the required files in this zip-file:
http://members.casema.nl/fenpzwarts/UnbrandingTmobile.zip
The manila files in the folder "Achtergrond" stand for the original black background.
The manila files in the folder "Green accenten" replace all pink colors by the HTC green colors.
The files in the folder "Klok" are responsible for the standard white flip-over clock and the standard HTC layout in the home tab.
The files in the folder "Schuifbalk" take care of the standard HTC slider bar with the standard HTC icons.
The " HTC Black.tsk", if selected, changes the title bar and menu bar from grey to black.

HOW TO: While using Total Commander or Resco Explorer copy the required files into the folder "Windows" in the internal memory. Ignore the warning that ROM files are being overwritten. Restart the MDA afterwards (soft reset).
If not satisfied: remove the same files from the "Windows" folder and restart the MDA.
Some observations:
- I have not taken the effort to adapt the T-Mobile TV-tab.
- If there are still loose ends I will try to fix them. However don't expect any miracles.
- With exeption of some minor adaptations I am not the author of these files. For this reason some specialists on this forum deserve the credits.
Update 26/07/2009:
Additionally I created a light theme of the T-Mobile branded TouchFlo3D:
- Standard HTC sliderbar
- Homescreen: Change layout and appointment fonts
Download:
Copy to Windows folder
HTC Black theme
Instructions:
1. Disable TouchFlo3D.
2. Just copy the 36 files in the Windows folder using Total Commander or Resco Explorer.
3. Copy the black HTC theme to the Windows directory and activate the theme.
4. Soft reset.
5. Enable TouchFlo3D.
See above to change the pink accents to green.
hi, had a question about the dutch mda vario v (tp2), maybe someone knows the answer.
With my old Mda vario (htc wizard) it was possible to stop the t-mobile customization (software branding) by soft-reseting the device right after you turn it on for the first time, when the countdown to the customization appears on screen.
Anyone know if this is this also possible on the vario V?
Hi. Do you know if these files can be used in the same way to debrand the vodafone theme?

NO!!!! Don't do it
oh Thank god i asked! cudve made a grave mistake!
Thanks Stunno! Any ideas on whats the best way to get rid of this god awful theme?
I used this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3953357&postcount=4
which I posted about in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=528713
Once this is in and working, be aware that it takes AGES to install and DO NOT let your screen power down while it is doing the installation, I can then install other themes that do not use CFC compression for the files - I have the 'Touch of Blue' one on at the moment
You will read in the thread that I posted that I had to hard reset my phone after installing the black theme. This is correct but I traced the fault to CFC compression that I had installed before the black theme. Since the hard reset it has worked perfectly, well, until I tried the Dutch Tmobile debranding files and lost my clock! There must be some major differences between the TM rom and the VF one
Sorry to hijack the thread
mate you are a legend! it worked like a charm! Cheers!
Thanks. Works great. One minor issue though. The green notification bubble in the mail and sms page is way to big compared to my previous T-Mobile one.
Not a problem. I just noticed it.

Replacing 36eabe92_manila in the Windows directory with this file should solve the issue.

works fine with german vario5 BUt the weather tab isnt shown ;(
maybe you've to activate in the settings? on my device everything works well (I've also the german vario 5)
Greetz

I found one problem: the menu isn't shown correct in the landscape mode. the menu is already shown while writing a sms by using the "contact interface". it isn't minimized (also when you use the homescreen the menu first is shown. when you tab next to the menu somewhere on the display it minimize itself how it should be from the beginning).

It didn't work for me.
Does anybody know how to activate the internet-tab without installing the full 2200+ manila package? T-Mobile has a, in my opinion a useless, widget page. I like to have the default internet-tab with Opera bookmarks and search-field.

same problem here... i did not found to get a tab for the internet working. without this the device is nearly useless... can't imagine why t-mob has killed this tab and changed it with their widged manager...
I had to perform a hard reset, but this debranding trick doesn't work properly anymore. De sliding button, on the bottom slider, is misshaped.
