Is there a way (settings or additional utility) to have the screen locked when you receive an incoming call?
Imagine having your phone in your pants pocket when you receive a call: it's almost impossible to take it out without touching anything on the screen and thereby launching all different programs etc, making it impossible to see who's calling...
Perfect would be a solution that either completely locks the touchscreen at an incoming call (you can still use the buttons below the screen) or just leaves the slide to answer area active and "locks" the rest of the screen.

Hi!
Is there a way to disable the touch screen when I get an incoming call? I find that I'm so clumsy that I always end up touching something by accident, either accepting a call or denying a call while I'm pulling it out of my pocket.
Edit: By that I mean, just while it's ringing, so that the touchscreen functions normally once you're in a call.
Thanks,
Tiny
I use the Slide feature of my Niki to answer (and end via Slide actions app) calls.
I'd like to have this as the only way to answer a call, since when a call is incoming the device unlocks and the screen switches on. This means that it can get answered in my pocket if I don't hear it (or ignore it). I can also accidentally reject the call getting it out of my pocket.
Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a way of keeping the screen off/locked when a call is incoming. Does anyone know of a way to do this?
Download and try AE Button Plus. An idea: You could make a single press of the answer key "do nothing", and double pressing (which has to be done very quickly, thus unlikely whilst in your pocket) act like normal.
[resolved] For the PROs (really): how to get "slide-to-unlock" screen during calls
I figured this question belongs in a more general forum since it's not HTC related.
My problem is that during calls i press the very sensitive buttons on the capacitive touchscreen with my face. To fix this I want to have the slide-to-unlock lockscreen during phone calls.
The screen can be locked during calls (either manually or with automatically with smartlock, etc.).
The problem is that when the call connects, the normal lockscreen is replaced with a different lock screen, one with two buttons: unlock and end call, but no slide-to-unlock.
I want to know if there is a way to disable this special lock screen that replaces normal lock screen during phone calls altogether?
how do i stop this? i'd like the phone to automatically lock or something to prevent this from happening. it appears that first, the screen with all of your apps opens, then my cheek or whatever hits a program. any ideas? thanks
Does this happen when you make a call, or when a call comes in?
If you phone is locked and you get an incoming call, after you answer it remains locked except for the calling options (i.e end call, flash, etc.) but I'm not too sure if you dial out though but ive never had this problem...
this happenes to me too. my cheek will hit the screen and either open things or call someone else while on the phone. It is annoying.
This really should not happen, as the device has a proximity sensor that should turn off the screen when the device is held up to your face. If you make a call with the phone held in your hand and you cover up the top of the phone, say the top 2 inches, with your other hand, does the screen blank? It should. If not, the proximity sensor may be bad and a replacement is in order.
I've been using my HD2 since its release, so i can tell you i've gotten used to all sorts of habits in order to prevent accidental "touches" with either my cheek or my pocket when using a BT headset.
Yet, i still get them. Very often i manually lock the phone during calls, but not always.
I've tried smartlock to lock the phone automatically during calls. It works to some extent, but not always. The phone unlocks twice during call from BT headset, when dialing and when connected. Smartlock will very often fail to lock the phone the second time, locking incoming calls doesn't always work either (i'm guessing it's conflicting with the proximity sensor). Plus since the lock screen during calls is different, a slight rub in the middle of the screen will unlock it (no need to slide anything).
This issue was so bad that i found a way to override the in-call lockscreen with the regular slide-to-unlock lockscreen.
Anyway, after all these months i realized that the only times i completly trust my phone during calls is when i'm holding it in my hand or it's laying on the table while i talk.
I'm posting this to check if any of you found better solutions to this problem than what i mentioned.
Cheers
depending on the rom you are on, try using two fingers to tap the caller id pic, it locks the screen on later roms, then hard key to unlock.(but not end key, cos that still hangs up)
