Calender info on home screen - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV Themes and Apps

On the main home screen the calendar information runs on two lines. The top line is in bright white and easily readible however the more important line underneath is slightly greyed making it difficult to see. Is there a way to make the second line brighter??

Ah, so I am not the only one who feels this is a bit of an issue. Hope someone can point us in the right direction. I shlould be real simple to change this if I only knew how!!!

I think you mean appointments line.
You will need mode9 editor.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=464984
If I am not wrong you should edit 1c684..._manila from your device by mode9 editor (home file) .
Find what you are looking for and change grey color code to white.
If you do not understand any more what I mean, do not attemp for all.
And read this threat.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=433585

many thanks; I will try this although I am not very sure of how to do it. But you are correct It is the appointments line that I want to change from grey to white. Why HTC made it grey on a black background is unusual and not very user friendly....

Horizontal seperator lines on Today screen…

Is there any way to get rid of them or to make them transparent?
Something I have tried time and time again to find out. There was a program called Pocket Facelift, which either got rid of them or cloned the today screen and superimposed an image over the top without the lines. I've searched for registry entries, hacks and cracks. Everything. Never been able to find it.
I still wish someone would produce a low memory footprint version of a screen that say the later Nokias and Samsungs have, where all the information about the phone is held in the corners (battery, SMS, signal, etc), leaving the rest of the screen for the picture (without lines).
Cheers

Anton.Valleyman: when you say "low memory", I guess WDA is out of the question
I hadn't seen Facelift before. The page seems to suggest that Facelift may be a replacement Today plugin host:
Today screen scrolling is fully supported. The today screen plugins are resized in order to avoid covering information by the scroll bar.

Resizing Today plugins requires some messy coding or hosting plugins yourself. That might explain how they get rid of the seperator lines - if you host the plugins yourself, you obviously don't have to draw the lines... that's just a theory though!

My unreleased VJEphemeris is entirely skinnable, and I'm trying to design it around a thumb friendly design. I want to use the corners in the way you described... but your idea is a good one, a nice clean full screen today plugin just showing basics, operator logo and a wallpaper is a nice idea...
For the lines, I just suggest you choose a color similar to your background. I use a plain white wallpaper, so easy for me
It might be feasible to do some hairy hacking to subclass the today screen and intercept the line drawing function, but I don't recommend it as an easy solution

Bliss theme for PocketCM

OK, I've put the theme back here, despite the second post as others were posting it here anyway.
I've used %radiophone as the second line in anattempt to get rid of the number all together. I prefer to keep the first screen simple because I always tend to press a contact, then select a number to call afterwards.
If you need to edit that field, follow the instructions on the PocketCM forum.
There is a thread dedicated to PocketCM - why not post there? Is it a new application developing or is it a hack?
Love to see what this theme looks like on my device, but having problems downloading the bliss theme from the site you mentioned. Do I have to be a member or sign in? Can you upload it here? Thanks in advance.
Didn't see a dedicated thread here for themes.
There are a couple of separate threads though:

so I started another one.

[edit] as others have now posted the theme here, I'm using the first post for the current version

Still having problems downloading it. I'll try again later.
I tried again, (opera browser), and it's not downloading the zip file. I'm pretty familiar with downloading/installing pocketcm themes and never encountered a problem such as this.
NICE!
Nice theme thanks downloaded and using now - been browsing that forum for a while and havent found anything - do you have any more?

Here you go.
A funny thing though, the only contact phone numbers posted beneath the contact's name when viewing the list of contacts are pager numbers, lol. I was tripping when I saw, out of 73 contacts, only 5 numbers were listed, lol. It seemed odd. Hopefully that'll be fixed soon. I'd prefer to see home, business, or mobile numbers. Just a thought.
thanks robo, the buttons are similar to my new icons i just made for the iphone theme, I like to stay away from color so that they are interchangeable between different backgrounds. this one looks good though, props

Waiting for yours, as I agree with you. It looks very clean for I prefer simple colors, or rather limited. The icons are the ****, lol (**** meaning really really good).
This is the best colored theme, good job. i was wondering if the side where the letters come down in alphabetical order could be black with the letters coming down in white to match the colored pattern going across. also was wondering if the alignment in the "contacts" view could be evenly arranged so that the tops of the contact name does not show after the last contact being viewed(like if you are looking at the contacts in "c" the very last contact name in "c" shows just the top letters) and when you select a contact and they have multiple options(sms, home#,work#) the tops of the last option is also slightly exposed atlest on my 700wx,but overall this is the best visual one i have seen.
Thanks all for your comments
robosiris With regard to the numbers being pager numbers, I actually wanted to have NO numbers at all. I explained in the pocketCM forum that I did this to simplfy the screen contents as I usually select a contact THEN choose a number to dial.
In the UK (certainly amongst my friends, we don't use pagers any more so I picked this field)
I've now changed it to %radiophone to show even FEWER numbers ;-).
However, if you want it to show a particular field, feel free to change the settings.ini file, as per the instructions on the PocketCM site.
mankoorb I understand about the top part of the characters showing, but as the app is totally "analogue" in terms of where the scroll stops, this will only happen if you use the index to select a new section. The next time you scroll with your fingers, it may misalign again. Also depends on whether you've got fullscreen mode on or off.
I don't think the index can have a background colour (might be wrong) so for now, that will stay as is (grey text, now very slightly darker than before).
Button height I've now changed, so only four complete buttons show when it's in full-screen mode.
Dave Hutch
ok dave understood. if the vertical index's color can not be altered, then maybe the horizontal index(once you have selected a look up letter) can be stretched all the way across the screen so it does not look cut off, and maybe the index letters can be tried in white to add to the brightness of the theme. with most themes being dark and using only 2 colors i enjoy this theme for its color and animated feel. good job!
The letter index (white on black)
cannot be stretched across the screen as it would overlap the #A at the top of the index (if I understand you correctly).
There are obviously restrictions to the app. layout as well as a vast amount of customization opportunities.
For other adjustments, you can easily do these to suit youor own taste by changing values in the settings.ini file that is contained in the bliss.cmt file.
It's basically a zip file renamed to .cmt.
Open it with Winzip and change the line that reads index_font_color=40,40,40
to index_font_color=255,255,255 to get white
For other custom changes, see the PocketCM site for instructions.
Also be sure to read up on the PocketCM thread here:

Black Background in the Applications Folder.

Yo!
Like the topic says, is it possible too change the background color in the application folder? It's standard, and boring white now, and i want it black with white text. Is this possible?
Maybe with a small application or something?
So.. Do you understand the words that comes out of my mouth?

PS. i don't have a Windows computer either.. I'm using Mac, so f.ex, i can't use "Theme Creator" thingy.. So it must be done on the device, and not on a desktop computer.

id like to know how that works, if somebody tells i will format all the needable program icons with white border and inline shadow so it looks better this would be cool
I believe SKTOOLS (a ppc program that can manage quite a bit of settings) allows you to tweak your theme on the fly.... I do believe when you change the background color of that folder, it will change it for all folders... Completely unsure if this will work though due to the fact that I have never tried
try ui tweaker
With ui tweaker you can do this (sys colour change).
BUT I was not able to do a complete black n´white as the popup windows (notification of new sms, reminders....) still had a black font on a black backround and then i was unable to read :-(
The software is enclosed as well as my try of pure black - in case you hve a touchflo installed...The colour of the buttons have to be different from black then or touchflow will not work.
In case you manage to get a fully black theme working please send me the regfile from ui tweaker as I would be also interested.
Enclosed a screenshot wit my current solution - grey coloured
But you can also import the settings into uitweaker (allesok....sys) and try...

Hehe.. Yeah, i know
Isn't there a programmer out there who can make a app. witch is easy to use.. and stuff..?
Or(!) A creative soul out there who can make a nice colorscheme for UITweaker?
One more thing.. Is it possible to make a .tsk-file with a "total" black interface? Like henftling's colorscheme..?
It's quite dead here now..
*bump bump*
one of the problems with UITweaker is that it can be a bit vague which part of the system you are changing the colour of, and then you have to soft reset to check if it looks ok, if not then back into it, change back, soft reset again, back into UIT and try something else.
i want a kinda slate grey / black theme as well, but the ones already made out there are a bit messy and you end up with wrong colours here and there, not being able to read things or see notifications.
also i get the feeling that not every aspect of the UI is actually changable, at least in UIT anyways...
it would be great though, we have all these nice finger applications in black / grey and then they all cut back to the dull old Windows white when you want to do something proper.
when will Microsoft hire some graphic designers for a change instead of letting the boffins do it all?

I'm totally agree with you. UITweaker is anoying with the soft-reset crap all the time.. And yes, Microsoft should hire some new graphic-designers.
So.. i know that it exist many programers in this forum, and i don't think it will be that difficult to wright a app. that can change the background color and stuff..
So.. we just have too wait until a programer is reading this thread i guess.. hehe
"also i get the feeling that not every aspect of the UI is actually changable, at least in UIT anyways..."
I used to play with an application like this way back when I had my hp 2210, and the problem then was that not all of the colors of the UI were independently tweakable.
It is probably so with this as well as you can see from henftling's screenshot. The bars for his signal strength have changed to gray as well as his backgrounds. So the same registry entry is controlling two separate parts of the UI, which means no matter how much you play with it you will probably get some unreadable text.
I wish I could find the old software that I used to use, as it was pretty user-friendly and I think it showed you a preview of what you were going to get so you didn't have to reset each time. Sorry, I have searched and searched.
One thing I did find was this: http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/rcmod.shtml . It looks like it gives you some idea of what you are changing before you change it. Perhaps it will help you guys.

Looking for couple of rare tweaks... - please help

Hi there,
I am hoping to find just a few rare tweaks for my Diamond, here they are:
1. Anybody ever though of (can't believe nobody did) a tool for left-handed users? Specifically, a.o.:
- WM vertical scrollbar displayed on the left not on the right
- In TF3D, the People tab, the slide-out bar to display some of my favorites is on the right and not on the left. Sliding with left hand is no good because the palm covers the screen.
2. Is there any way to transfer contacts with non-ASCII symbols from htc memory to SIM?
3. Managing text messages. Once you browse Inbox and single click on a message it displays along with the keyboard. What makes big sense once you want to send a message is useless for reading messages. Any way to rid the screen of it? How about the font used to display the message. Which registry variable sets it?
4. How about SMS channels be displayed on today screen? It is possible to add the channel but not display it.
regards
With regards to #3, can't you just tap the keyboard symbol at the bottom-center of the screen to make it disappear?
I sure can, but tell me one reason to do it?

[REQ] Help to create text and walk app

I am looking for some help from the many people on here more talented than me, I have very basic programing skills but am hoping to learn more though this process.
The plan : Create an app for winmo that can do similar to this http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/05/14/email_n_walk/ ideally for texting as well as email.
My ideas so far (very early stages):
1. Use the generic windows messaging screen and replace the white standard background with a transparent one, probably with shaded area for tx to make it readable, and call the camera app behind it.
2. Use the tf3d messaging screen and use something like MunBackground all tabs to again run the camera view instead of a static picture.
In an ideal world I would only like to use one of these methods meaning that text/email could be written with or without the camera app running.
I would appriciate any input and help with this, I am well aware this will be made more difficult with my lack of experience, but am hopful that the wealth of knowlege here can help.
Im sorry, i cant offer my help, but you have my support; this would be great, especially for wvga devices.
If I understanded, you want transparent screen to send messages?
I'd be willing to donate some money toward anyone who could create such an application.
I'm sure came across this before as an idea if i'm reading it correct, the problem being that when we walk we don't hold the phone up infront so we'd be viewing the floor infront of our feet
One way would be to take a picture every x ms and draw it and additional items like rectangles and text in the paint method of a panel control.
P.S.: How would it look like in manila? Remember this fake/bug live camera image in home screen?

In my head, it would ideally be a seperate way of opening/writing text/email to save battery life when not needed, and would probably be a video/camera image behind, with a semi transparent overlay/greyed out area where message text was typed to enable the text to be readable.
Will try out that diamond bug/fake
