Hi,
I have problem that, Chinese words SMS is not wrapped correctly. Part of the chinese words are missing from screen (which suspected out of screen). For example:
Original message:
一二三四五六七八九十
Expected display on screen:
一二三四五六
七八九十
Current display on screen
一二三
七八九十
As we can see, the words "四五六" are missing.
Any ideas? Thank you

I have a Diamond with BsB6.5Q ROM.
Hi there, don't know if this is a ROM issue or a WM6.5 issue. I use the Compact QWERTY that is supplied in this ROM - I prefer to use the "phone keypad" style of keyboard. As I do 95% of my texts in the native Welsh language, I keep T9 switched off (there is no such feature in Welsh). However, when I write a text message in Welsh sometimes the spacebar won't work - it simply won't let me put a space there - I have to press 'enter' then 'backspace' to remove the restriction. This is not a screen sensitivity issue, because the 'shadow' appears above the spacebar to signify that it has been pressed. This problem doesn't arise when writing English texts, so I'm assuming that the problem occurs because the phone is trying to be clever and trying to predict that there shouldn't be a space after a certain letter.
I've looked through the settings and I can't find anything to switch this off. Any ideas?
Also, when writing, I would really like to be able to move the cursor backwards and forwards through the text, say if I want to correct an earlier error. Having to press the desired location with my finger is not good enough, because I need three or four attempts to get it right due to being the owner of a large thumb. I was then thinking about the Diamond's scroll wheel - this would be ideal for the job. Is there any way use that to scroll, i.e. anti-clockwise to move cursor to the left, clockwise to move right?
Thanks
Right, please ignore my last paragraph above - I completely forgot about the up/down/left/right buttons around the scroll wheel. The Left/Right buttons do exactly what I want.
Now, all I want is a fix for my keyboard problem (1st paragraph). It only happens for some words, and when it happens I cannot type any of the punctuation characters - I can only continue typing letters. Also when this happens the word (or most of it) is underlined. I don't understand why the word that's currently being typed would need to be underlined. It seems like parts of T9 is still on, even in ABC mode.
Any ideas?
I added QuickMenu 2.8 and TouchPal 4.0, BSBTweaked... zenyee SMS patch...
What I get regularly is the touch bug where green lines appear in the screen instead of the touch action. so effectively I got a "Matrix" painting program
It started when my HTC Lock got it and I had to reset. Turned it off.
Then my HTC Sense got it. Turned that off too.
Now it seems that the problem pops up mainly for top-down slides, and restricted to the 480x480 area below the taskbar. Feels like a modal layer confusion so that unknown layer traps all the touches?
Anyone else got this combo/problem?
k found the problem.
the HTC Handwriting SIP has some problems with 3rd party SIPs I think.
when TouchPal is used, the Hand SIP sometimes loads its writing area, aka GREEN LINES.
removed touchpal --> no problems.
Hi,
I'm hoping someone might be able to help.
I've just updated my UK T-Mobile HD2 to the latest Rom from the HTC website.
Previously, when texting in predictive mode, it would more often than not get the word correct, and a line of words would open beneath it allowing me to change to any of the other options.
Since the update, it's only been 'half' working. For example, if I type 'Hello', it would normally pick up that word, and also list it in the word options below it. Now, it's putting the word in as though I've got predictive text turned off (but it is set to XT9). It still brings up the word suggestions underneath, but it's typing only the first letter of each key instead.
The options for XT9 and ABC used to show the selected option in green. Now they are both grey, the selected one a darker shade of grey than the other.
I've checked all the options, such as spell correction, etc and they all match how I used to have them set before.
Does anyone know what might be causing the options to not show up in green, as I'm assuming this is also related to why it's not typing the words correctly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Did you hard reset your device after the upgrade?
I have a problem viewing the flat and sharp symbols in a guitar chord app called Fretter. Just get the little rectangle that indicates there's something there but I can't see it. Love the phone, new to Android...are symbols such as this a common problem. The developer doesn't have an answer for me.
Just installed a symbols keyboard and I notice a lot of the keys are similarly not displaying the symbols.

The problem is to do with the default set of fonts installed on the phone. For some reason Huawei packaged a limited character set on the phone. If you update to the general B136 ROM here:
http://wiki.modaco.com/index.php/Huawei_Firmware_U8800
The characters should display fine.
You can mess with fonts using an app called Type Fresh, and I recommend replacing your droidsansfallback.ttf with this copy, will also win you viewable iphone smilies.

Thanks for the help. I'll follow your advice.
It seems there is a serious incompatibility with keyboards in general (I'm rooted on 1.1 with touchnooter and oc kernel), where the word suggestions bar does not display (in any keyboard). breaking support for 9 key input or chinese IME along with many other input methods. Only keyboards that automatically choose the first result in word suggestions can have auto correct, and even then there is no way to choose between words. What is keeping the word suggestions box from displaying in any keyboard (I have tried about 10 keyboard input methods so far all with the same problem)?
The problem is, normally there is a bar where you type the romanization and it gives you a list of options to click for the correct spelling/characters. That bar is missing from every keyboard app I have installed with spelling correction or chinese character typing.
Does this have anything to do with the nook firmware, or the system folder installation method? What is the proper way to install a keyboard (step by step) and can ANYBODY confirm or get a working keyboard? (EDIT: I'm positive I installed correctly and installing different ways makes no difference on suggestions bar support)
If a dev can please help us out, maybe try installing sougou android pad as it has english config menus. Basically, if you type a word like "xiang" it should give you a list of characters to select between, such as 想,象,向 etc. If it doesn't display the list of characters then obviously you can't type in chinese (not legibly anyway). Imagine chinese input like 9 key input, if you don't have the ability to select the best guess, half of what you type will be gibberish. Well, the bar used to display those guesses are missing in every keyboard I've installed on the nook.
Additional info:
I have tried installing:
Sougou input (tablet)
Sougou phone input method
Baidu
Smart Keyboard plus chinese
smart keyboard plus english
All have the same problem where they do not fetch different spelling options or character options. They are missing that popup selection or bar completely. This also makes it so 9 key keyboards won't work obviously which depend on guessing and allowing you to select the correct 'guess'.
Please help, this may be due to the keyboard support in nook firmware, or it may be a simple setting or missing file that which can be corrected somehow. If you have this problem or have any ideas or suggestions please share your experience! If you have a working suggestion bar (NOT just auto correct) please share how you got it as well. With googling, although hard to find I have seem some reports of this problem appearing on other devices /custom roms as well, so it might not just be nook simple touch specific but a problem with the rom! Thanks!
To avoid any confusion, text prediction, word dictionaries, etc. all work, it doesn't seem to be a problem with the keyboard application, and it applies to every keyboard running on the nook. It's the actual suggestions bar that is not visible on any keyboard. Unfortunately this means that unless the first prediction/suggestion is what you want, you're screwed. Obviously this makes 9 key impossible, as well as typing in languages, especially Chinese. Before someone asks, it doesn't matter if you set the suggestions to be visible or not, no keyboard, regardless of settings, is capable of displaying a word, spelling, or character suggestions bar on my NST until this bug can be fixed.
I posted some images of this problem here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35976521&postcount=2
