Any idea whats wrong when most of basic programs are shown in 640x480 resolution instead of full 800x480 after installing Manila and some programs for it? After fres Manila instalation everything is fine, but when I install few more apps from Blackstone package, screen messes up and programs like system windows (programs, settings, file manager etc.) are not maximized and there is blank space in the lower part of screen.
Any ideas? Hate hard resets
EDIT: Found out solution - its caused by applying registry fix for not showing virtual keyboard (SIP) by default.

Lost 'tab' on the Today screen ..

Hi Folks
I've somehow lost the "messaging' tab on the Today screen.
Been into Start, Settings, Today, Items and it isn't in there eithert :-(
Any idea's as to how I restore it ? It's still there on the start menu ....
Thanks
Mark
try uninstalling an today applet if you install to many it start to remove some from your list
i'm not really sure why but removing an applet which you dont use often make them come back
there is also a regedit way to doing it but i cant recall it
I had a problem like this when I installed My|Phone.
I fixed it by deleting an item from the list in the registry
here is the path to the registry keys
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Today\Items

Cheers Guys
I found the offending program, it was the MS Theme Generator (trying to design my own skin) ...
Removed that program and all is well, it has re-appeared !
BTW - anyone know what size the background skin should be ? Also - what's the best program to use to 'shrink' a jpeg to the required size ?
Many Thanks
Mark
irfanview is a good free picture viewer and edit (a bit not any photoshop but resizing is ok)
that should let you change the size of your jpg

Removing soft buttons at the bottom (messages calendar thing

Anyone knows how to remove the soft buttons at the bottom of the screen? Find them a waist of space.
I dont mean a program which has this function (wisbar advanced desktop does it) but i am looking for just a cab or reg hack to remove them without having to install unneeded software.

dvl, i don't think this can be done by a reg hack.
When i get around to updating my toggletoday program I'll provide this as an option. But you know this is a per app setting, so I could remove it in the Today screen (I think, not tried!) but not in every app (well I could, but how would you access the menu?)
V
ohhh
it is only for the today screen..
i need the keyboard thingy in apps of course..
sorry i was unclear.. and yeah i know about your app but then i have to install more then needed..
But if you know a way how to remove it from the today screen i would be very pleased!!

Toggle today is not memory resident, it loads, fixes and quits. Hopefully the WM5 version will be the same if I can help it. But I don't think this can be done in registry (unless there's a key we don't know about).
V
You can of course edit the registry and delete the keys that contain the paths to the programs, or leave the programs there and use blanks to show up on the screen. The letters will then disappear, but you cannot hide the whole tray and use it as Today space.

Need help for Gsen!!!

Hey guys,
I just got my HD and have really no clue how to get the gsen to work so i can write sms and emails in landscape. Also I would like a few other applications to be in landscape too.
Can anyone help me??? It would be greatly appreciated.
Can someone please help me? or give me website that gives instructions? I really need help for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
gsen should by default enable landscape for almost any app (with some exceptions like tf3d and so on). after installed you should run gsen manually and then notice if the screen rotation is working. then if you like etc you can run gsen cfg and set it to autostart via left soft key.

Is it the best software for the HD to use for auto-rotation? Also how do i install it on the phone? thats my main problem. It seems to have come already pre-installed but cant figure out how to work it....
simply download the cab trasfer to phone and tap on it from the phone

Pre-installed?..... GSen doesn't come pre-installed.
Where did you get it from?
He's probably just talking about the original rotator that excludes most everything, aside from the media/internet based programs.
Works??
Hi again.
I installed the prog right now, started and open the settings. Screw the phone -< works fine. close settings, open programs, tur the phone again -> nothing happens. Like in nearly) every other program. Opening the settings again, nothing happens too.
So i turned the GSEN off an on again sometime, settings work but nothing else.
WHAT'S THE PROBLEM???
Thx for reply
Did you read the readme.txt file that came with gsen?
Works fine on my HD
Here is a part of the file:
1. Description
Auto-rotate screen on SOME devices with g-sensor.
Install GSen and run it.
If you run it again, program will ask you "Unload program?".
If you answer yes - program will be unloaded.
This also possible without question with parameter #unload.
You can use configuration shortcut for edit configuration file.
This file can include this command:
#window(text or class name) - add window description
#timeout(value) - default value 1000 ms
#onlyfor(0|1) - if 0 auto rotate work for all programm except defined by #window, otherwise ONLY for this program.
By default program not rotate screen if Manila or Teeter is foreground application, but you can edit this list.
#fdscreenoff(0|1|2) - if 1, program will switch off screen if you put device with screen on bottom, if 2 device will suspend.
#lockscreen(0|1) - if not present = 1, can prevent, if enabled, rotation with locked device
#poweroff180(0|1) - if not present = 0, determine interpretation of rotation to 180, 0 - rotate screen, 1 - power off.
GSen can indicate self state,
you can setup it with this commands:
#show(0|1) - if 1 GSen will show one pixel (by default) indicator on top bar.
#x(X),
#y(Y) coordinates of this indicator, default X=240,Y=1
#clr(R,G,B) - color, default white (255,255,255)
you also can setup width and height (#width(W), #height(H))
Commandline parameters:
#load - load app, if loaded already - exit without questions
#unload - unload app
#toggle - if loaded will unload, otherwise will load, usable with one shortcut
#about - show about window
if you start without parameters - program will ask "Unload?" if already exist one instance, or simple run if not exist.
NOTE: some programs, like Teeter game, cannot start in landscape mode, so switch to standard display orientation before.
Cheers
Yep
... I did.
First time I installed it I changed someting in the configfile as advised. But it doesn't work so in uninstalled and reinstalled it. Then started the prog.
SOMETIMES the picture turnes but not everytime.
I've got a HTC Touch Diamond :-o Shouldn't be the problem i guess...
Okay...
I just changed timeout to 5 and it works just fine on HTC touch HD
Guess it shoudn't be a problem on Diamond.
What is the Contacts program name?
In the GSen Configuration file, I want to be able to tell the program to leave the Contacts screen alone (to not rotate). The only problem I have is that I don't know the actual program name for Contacts, and where is it located?
Thanks,
Peter
Got it ...
I figured it out. When I entered the following command into the GSen configuration file:
#windows(Contacts)
It didn't work because I didn't first save it. Now that I've entered it again, and then saved the file, it works.
Peter
Is there any way to set it to rotate the Today screen? I'm using the default config and all programs rotate apart from Today.

i dont understand any of this talk.. if you go into the gsen edit screen, are those what will not rotate? eg, i would like to see the settings screen rotate, how do i add that? would it be something like #window(settings.exe)

Customising HD2 Theme

Hi All,
I am needing to customise a few things on our new HD2's automatically.
I've created a cab file that successfully deletes a bunch of unwanted shortcuts & make some changed to the IE favourites.
However, I want to disable HTCSense & also set a default background/wallpaper via a cab file, but I'm having trouble with this.
I've managed to semi do it via registry entries in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\
It appears to have disabled HTCSense & enabled the Windows Default 'today' screen. But I still get HTC Calander, Music, Footprints & Peep icons in the start menu, however they do not function. There are no .lnk files to delete to get rid of these...
And for the background, the registry entry is there & under settings\today it shows as being selected, but the wallpaper is not actually applying.
Thanks in advance!
So... Found the issue with the background/wallpaper... It doesn't actually use that registry key to select the wallpaper, its just for display on the Today settings page... grr...
Copied the relevant files to \windows\stwater_480_800.png & stwater_800_480.png & rebooted.
So now I'm left with getting rid of the HTC shortcuts...
Also, is there a way to force a reboot after installing the CAB file?
Cheers!

[Q]How to speed up and optimize Rom

Hello to all i havé cooked a ROM with manila 2016 for m'y xperia now i am looking for some tweaks for speedup ROM and for its consomme less memory because m'y gwes.exe took 36mb ...i already done thé cfc for manila and i use neo oem drivers 2010...
So Will any one please help me in What way we improve thé speed and optimise thé ROM ....
Thanks to all
You can try compressing png files; it will help with gwes some (I used a free app called PNG Gauntlet, or something like that, and it was pretty good). It's best to test out the PNG files before cooking and flashing (just copy them into \windows and soft reset), because maybe 1/100 will cause issues; the softkeybar gets messed up when it's compressed, as does the background in scroll bars and the pivot bar in menus (basically, the same as the soft key bar).
The easy thing is just to end your experiment with manila. It sucks, as you are discovering. Also, the 6.5 lockscreen uses a boat-load of RAM (in gwes), so you can disable it (saves 5-10 MB). Finally, you can save a couple MB of RAM in gwes by getting rid of all start icon/png images. Just use the native icons from the .exe's or cpl's; reshack any apps that don't have icons with ico files. You need to delete all of the Icon values in the startinfo registry, and you can delete all of the start_png files. One day, I decided to delete all of those Icon registry keys in the start registry, just to see what the start menu would look like, and I was surprised to find I had maybe 2 MB more ram after a reset. I also liked the looks of a lot of the control panel icons. They're old style, but I like the old style looks myself.
Follow what Farmer Ted said and check this thread too, its plenty of many tips
