Is there away for active sync to syn text messages or back them up?
Having done a few hard resets, it's just handy to plug the phone in and off we go - contacts intact, emails etc....
Or is the answer right under my nose?
Ta muchly

From unkonwn reason I cannot see or access my SMS inbox. When I go into my inbox, I am able to see only the Active Sync inbox, the SMS inbox has gone away.
Any ideas how to show it again?
your sms inbox database & ou active synch database are deleted, the possible reasons for that are either you restored from a backup file where your inbox was not included or you used the Database view program & accedently removed it, in both cases & to my knowledge you have to hard reset & restore from a backup you did
Hi,
after getting my XDAIIi back from having the screen replaced I had to restore my last backup.
I now have two old email's in the inbox of the Outlook Email account in the messaging application which were obviously unread messages when that backup was created via ActiveSync.
Any ideas how I can get rid of them? I can click and highlight them but even though the option to delete the message(s) is shown when I choose 'delete' or 'move' nothing happens to the message.
Many thanks
i have a similar problem, the emails can't be read, deleted, or moved, and it has nothing to do with restoring (as the only restoring i've done was part of Sin's ROM build process for WM2003SE on the XDAII).
these emails that are unmoveable/readable/deletable i used to be able to read, like a couple of days ago i could.
before i recently hard reset the device, i had the same problem with some sms's in my sms inbox and sent folder.
very strange and annoying, as a hard reset appears to be the only way to get rid of them.
Not sure if anyone runs this but its a great add-in in outlook which syncs your sms messages. whats even better is after a hard reset, you simply copy the SMS back to device.
My question is that once you do this ... by this i mean sync after a master reset, every message is "unread" on the device.
I have at present 1046 sms in inbox and to select it all and mark as read infact crashes the phone
further to that, it takes a long time to select all as there is no function to do this.
is there any easy way or am i doing something wrong?
PS: do not re-sync if your msgs are unread on deviec because it will duplicate on your outlook. I had over 4000 msgs because of this but luckily i managed to delete all "unread" msgs as a rule in outlook so i saved time going through each one.
thanks,
Hi,
Today my phone locked up completely and wouldnt respond so i soft reseted it. Still it wouldn't respond, so i had to hard reset. Seeing as that i have synced it with active sync numerous times, will activesync have my contacts stored?
If you copied your contact details from your sim into your contacts in pocket outlook on the universal AND set up the sync to do contacts, then the answer is yes.
if you have synced in the past, and you have choose to sync contacts, then yes, outlook will have an updated copy which can be synced back again.
open outlook and have a look to see if they are listed.
suggest you consider using a backup software for just such an event eg SPB backup.
hi when i sync my phone with outlook using active sync, it duplicates all my contacts on my phone and on my computer contacts, i now have 3 entrys for each person on my phone and comp, firstly how can i stop this happening and second how can i get rid of duplicates. i would only like to use the sync options for calender and contacts, please help as its really annoying. thanks
Sounds like you are syncing with two different computers or you have an old sync profile still active on the phone? This results.
Options.
1. Remove one of the sync profiles from the phone under Activesync (on the phone not via PC) preferrably the old one.
If all your present PC outlook contacts vanish, dont worry, just look in you deleted items folder in PC Outlook and move the required ones back to contacts.
2. Search the web as there are a few duplicate Outlook item removers around.
