a few questions...

I'm using a:-
XDA II
ROM: 1.66.00WWE
RV: 1.08.00
which i bought 3 days ago.
I've read the manual a few times and i have a few questions,
1. i downloaded an mp3 from my desktop, when choosing the ringtone, i can't seem to find the file anywhere. what happened?
2. i installed active sync 3.7.1 as a standard partnership. i can share everything except the contact and a few others. when choosing to share, there are no checkbox next to the contacts. ?!?
3. sometimes, after i entered the number and the sms text into a new msg which is to be sent as an sms, i can never seem to send it. the screen will remain in the new msg window. and if i were to exit, it will be saved in the draft. everytime i click onto the send button, the 'envelope' just flew and the mobile number shifts to the right and thats it. ?!?!?!?!?

You need to go to settings, system, add ring tone, and add it as a ringtone. This moves the mp3 to \Windows\Rings.

Do you have Microsoft Outlook (not Outlook Express) installed?

Did you make sure to choose the SMS account?

outlook, no... but its not outlook that i need, i basically need the contacts to be in my laptop, thats all.
yes, i've verified many times that it is an sms account...
when in the 'add account' section, i noticed that the SMS has a asterix before it = { *SMS }
does this have got to do with anything?
also
in the windows folder, there is a few files named "MsgQueueMapFileMicrosoft Notification SMS Protocol (Reiceive Only)" and a few others with similar names
what does this mean?
is there something wrong with the settings ?
could the "receive only" thing be the problem that caused me to be unable to send sms msgs ?
how do i undo that ?

ActiveSync needs outlook for that, whether you need it or not.

The asterix means SMS is the default account.

That's normal, it uses those "files" internally. I have those too.

Could be.
Which SMSes does it NOT send? Only replies to certain people? Only new messages? Does it send replies sometimes/always, but new messages never?
Check Settings(Personal settings)| Phone|Services tab| Voice Mail and SMS(get settings..)|SMS service center

No, that's not it.

new problem
ok
i've solved the previous problems and its all cool now
nothing a hard reset cannot do ;p
but a new thing just showed up
actually its been bugging me since i bought it
here is how it goes:
when the phone idles for a time period, no one can call in
there is no indication whatsoever when this problem occurs
the only way i found out abt it is when the ppl who tried to call me screwed me when i met them earlier
and the only way to resolve this is tru soft reset
can anyone explain what is happening?

Solved: No SMS notifications and missing SMS account in Pocket Outlook

Yesterday I noticed that I don't longer hear the SMS incoming sound (doesn't matter which soundfile is selected).
The message arrives and thats it no indication by either blinking, vibrating or alarm.
The problem only occurres with SMS, Emails and MMS are being notified in every possible way as it should be.
I had this problems once before and ended up with hardresetting my terra. Don't want to do that everytime.
I also noticed that the SMS/Text Message account in Pocket Outlook isn't displayed anymore just Outlook and MMS is avaible from the menu.
To avoid misunderstandigs I do receive SMSes and can open them at any time from Pocket Outlook. Just getting no notification alerts and missing the SMS account settings inside Outlook
Anykind of help or a link is very much appreciated.

Just set "SMSAvailable" in the registry to 1 (enable).
This should solve your problem.

I think i ve got a more serious problem, with the same effects.
I can't see anything else at Messaging accounts, only a "Setup E-mail" button (no messages). I tried to set up an e-mail, but when i finished it goes back to the account select screen, and still only one option, to add a new email account.
After i press X and reactivate the screen on the Task Manager, i can see the Outlook's Inbox, but when i see the folders there arent messages only the Outlook e-mail.
I added the registry key you said, because there was only one key in that folder (nosentmessages 1), nothing changed.
I cooked this rom in my own, had i something missed to put in? If yes, are there any way to install that thing without recooking the rom?

Did you try to edit the registry with the setting from post #3?

Question about Contacts

Is it possible to assign more than one number to a contact? I have tried, but number 2 is always greyed out.
The other question is how do you change between phone and sim contacts please?

Ummm...if you go into the full Windows Contacts app there are at least 4 or 6 spaces for different numbers, fax numbers, multiple emails etc. Easiest way is to add your contacts on your PC and then Sync up. There is a setting somewhere for "show SIM contacts" (maybe in the dialer?) but I don't store numbers on my SIM--not necessary (or even advisable) with a WinMo phone.

how do you put more than one mobile number? ive saved multiples under wor..i cant find mobile 2?

I have also noticed that if I start to type a contacts name in the to field on an sms it will no longer find it....

I do apologise, but I don't understand your abbreviations in your message.

Is your on screen keyboard the default windows mobile one that came with your phone..or did you install the touch HD keyboard?

Contacts + Ringtone

Hey all, I bought HD2 a few days ago.
Still learning the WM stuff.
Contacts
I can't make contacts with many characters cus it's on the SIM, how do I transfer all contacts to my phone?
Ringtones
How I put my own ringtones?
Cus I saw that there's only built tones and u can't edit them or add my own.
Startup
One more thing, how can I make startup for apps that I want to be loading when turn-on mobile?

If u have the contacts only on your sim, u have to edit them(first copy them from sim to phone via sim manager)
U can put your own ringtone to your storage card/my documents/my ringtones
if u have to change the ringtones for sms, u need to copy them to windows folder

I've done it already, "Save to Phone" option.
but still I can't rename my contacts if the name is too long.

u are probably trying to rename the contacts on your sim, u have to rename the ones that are stored on your phone

In the contact list MENU > SHOW > ALL/CONTACTS/SIM

I dont have my Leo here, but when u open the contact app, every contact has an icon on the left side, and sim contacts have different icon than contacts on the phone. U can hide the sim contacts via bsb tweak application.

well, I done it but just the BattClock works.
the FingerKeyb not working, don't know why

keyboards dont work like other programs, u need to set it in sip options. Tap the right side of the keyboard icon on the bottom bar, a menu should pop up and there u should choose keyboard u want to use

OK, I've downloaded SIPChange now it works thanks
and I still can't choose my own ringtones & sms.
I put it into the \Storage Card\My Documents\My Ringtones.
and the SMS ringtones I put it into \Storage Card\Windows\SMS not working.

Help. Hide Sim contacts for SMS

I tried searching for hours. When you go to write a new sms you click on the avatar icon in top right corner to choose your contacts for the sms. It shows both phone contacts and sim contacts. I just want to view phone contacts to choose from.
I have my phone set to view only contacts from phone. I even tried this registry edit HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone -> ShowSIM=0
I know that BSB tweaks has an option to hide sim but I suspect it doesnt hide sim contacts for sms also. I try and stay away from these tweaking programs as much as possible and do everything with registry or small cab mods.
Is there a way to hide these sim contacts for sms?

I make backup and deleted contacts from sim card.

i'm also facing this problem =.= many of my sms (conversation mode) shows the SIM sign instead of the picture/photo integrated wif my phone contact. And I want to keep my SIM contact as well in case of emergency so i cnt do what deserted did :/

Seems to be a simple issue that just doesnt have a solution other than deleting the contacts on the sim card.
BSB tweaks does not fix this issue either.

Anybody know how to do this? I just can't believe that deleting is the only solution.

I guess there is no solution for the HD2 except to delete.

Works for me.

Then you are the only one. Sim contacts are still shown on mine. For the contacts page it does work. But go to messages and the sim contacts are still showing there.

we most definietly need a small cab or tweak for this...
i mean.. compared to all the other amazing stuff you developers end up doing.. this should be a walk in the park..... do we have any takers... i also can't imagine it taking that long either...

if i was talented enough or knowledgable in that depoartment.. i would be making crazy cabs for this community left and right.. but unfortunately.. i can't.. my talents lie elsewhere... so please.. can someone just resolve this issue???
