Hudson Mobile IP Dsahboard works very well for GPRS, Bluetooth and WiFi on my Jasjar. Not 100% sure if will monitor Edge because Jasjar does not have Edge. However I am positive that it will.
Give it a try. Highly Recommended.
Kind Regards
go to http://dslreports.com/mspeed on your PocketPC and run the tests
try
http://speed.kify.com
i got 146kbit/sec. does that mean i'm at edge speed?

Interesting!
I tested this one:
at 600kb test I get speed of 163kBit/sec
at 100kbit I get speed of99kbit/sec.
Good for now.
I think T-mobile service goes up to 140kbit/sec for edge.
Thank you everybody

Top Strategies to Maximize Data Speeds Please!

hi
I'm working in a job that has me utilizing this device continually and speed to info is everything!
Can you inform this newb as to ways to set up my Hermes to maximize data speed? Appreciated!
Also....I see the Hermes Tweaks download has a Hsdpa enabled function...BUT....if Hsdpa is enabled by default......why would anyone ever need this app??!
Thanks

It's not enabled by default on all Hermes devices / ROMs.

Faster HSDPA Speed Depends on Radio's, ROM's & Carrier

Test your PIE speed here
http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed?jisok=1
and post your result, to include
1. Carrier
2. ROM/Cooked ROM Version
3. Radio Version
4. Average result (Minimum 3 test)
This will enable us to find out which radio works best on a particular ROM.
My ist test results using the 1MB test load.
1st run - 846 kbits
2nd run - 976 kbits
3rd run - 974 kbits
Average 932 kbits
ROM used 1.25.405.1 WWE
Radio 1.58.25.14

here we go
1. 1.28.405.1 WWE
2. 1.58.25.14
3. 188kbit/sec
as the size file increases there is an increase in the speed. e.g. 100k 154kbit/sec, 1mb 194kbit/sec.

Now that's weird! This is not an HSDPA speed. It should be between 384 to 1 m. Is your device displaying an "H" when you conducted the test?
With 3G, EDGE or WLAN-DSL? Or doesn't matter?

Should be HSDPA/UMTS or 3G

it's 3G. no HSDPA around here yet. i tested it a bit more and the speed decreased even more. I'll check with my network to see if there's any probs.
1. 1.28.405.1 WWE
2. 1.58.25.14
3. 732 kbit/sec
1mb size file with opera 9.33.
Such tests are also network dependant

I believe he meant test to be conducted for those who has an H or 3G signal on their phone and does'nt necessarily mean network as the unit uses any available signal within the immediate vicinity but I could be wrong. On the other hand , it's best to use the Pocket Internet explorer because we already know that opera is faster than PIE.
That's weird. I did the test and 1 only got
1. 7 kbits
2. 12 kbits
3. 5 kbits
What's wrong with my TC?
looks like normal GPRS speeds rather then 3g or HSDPA
maybe your operator dont offer hsdpa or it's not enabled for your acount

Rudegear is right. BTW what's your connection icon? Is it G, 3G?
Hmmmm
o2 UK
ROM 1.25.405.1 WWE
RADIO 1.58.21.23

Speed fluctuation is quite impressive. The best so far to date.
1. T-Mobile NL PIT (normal version)
2. v0.53 Bepe UK
3. 1.58.25.14
4. 653 kbit/sec
Rom: 1.25.405.1
radio: 1.58.21.23
HSDPA 1.mega file

How come mine's not getting this figure? I'm using the same ROM!
I want this speed please
I am sorry, but speed has nothing to do with wich rom you use. I dont know who is telling you this story. The radio version COULD help something in case of better connection.

Please post your 3G speed test results

Would anyone who has managed to get a HTC Touch HD phone be able to run a speed test and let me know what network, time and location the test was conducted?
www.dslreports.com/mspeed seems like a good place to start
Thanks in advance!

Just ran the test with a 1MB file.
Result was 775 kbit/s.
Network is O2 Germany.
Test was done inside a building, that might lower the transfer rate.
That site's not much use - I just got 500k on 3G, then 250k on wifi (on the 1mbyte test).
Testmyiphone 3Mbyte seems fairly consistent, about 1.25mbit, or 2mbit on wifi (lowest performance, best battery setting).
This is Orange btw, in a good signal area.
Orange france HSDPA : 390kbit/sec
Wifi : 1042kbit/sec
Using Opera
377kbit/s, T-Mobile, UK
874 kbit/sec
0.433s latency
9.786s d/l time.
orange uk using internet explorer
Not overly convinced about the speed test site...
runninga 1Mb file test over my wifi (10meg link) to get some benchmarks before trying 3G, I got
test 1: 'too fast - 2.8seconds'
test 2: 272 kbs, 0.195s latency, 30.151s download time
test 3: 261 kbs, 0.154s latency, 31.515s
test 4: 169 kbs, 0.147s latency, 48.552s
all tests run one after another, with only enough time inbetween for me to copy the results into this post.
the file transfer bar at the bottom?
jumps to 350kb ish instantly
600 / 700 in about 2 seconds
950 a few seconds later
950 - 1Mb takes the remaining 20odd seconds.
not convinced...
LOL.
Posted that, then thought - 1 more go...
test 5: 1156kbs, 0.176s latency, 7.259s
sorry, not going to bother trying over 3G
There was the same thread in the Diamond forum.
It turned out that it also depends on what browser you use.
I did my test with Opera. PIE seems to be slower, so if anyone of you ran the test with Internet Explorer, please re-run it with Opera.
3G speeds
DSL reports:
- 1259 kbps, 0,318s latency, 1Mb file
I used HTC HD as a modem, a local FTP server, I suppose I was the only one connecting to that antena:
Download:6.5Mbps using FlashGet. The results are better than the ones taken with Huawei E220 HSDPA modem.
Upload:1.3Mbps using FileZilla
Location : Orange Moldova
818kbit/sec on SFR france

Touch HD - O2 users in UK: 3G Speeds

Having moved from an iPhone 3G to the Touch HD (and having previously owned over 5 other HTC phones), I'm finding the 3G speeds abysmal!
I was expecting Opera to be slower than Safari, but not to the extent that I have found.
Try news.bbc.co.uk or guardian.co.uk on Opera - both take around 30-60 seconds to appear! Is that the experience of other O2 customers in the UK, or on other networks?
I would also like feedback on which ROM/Radio versions you are running - I am currently on Duttys 1.7 with the 1.10 radio.
Thanks all!
Cant speak for O2 but on t-mobile, cnn takes 11 secs and the beeb takes 9secs to load. Remember that 3g quality can influence these speeds too. I'm on Dutty's 1.7.
Thanks for that. Can you try a speed test on something like www.dslreports.com/mspeed - might be a useful comparison. Try a few tests to get a average. Thanks.
212Kbit/sec for me on O2
Edders
That is slow!
Some of my test have been over 1mb but browsing feels slow!
400KB file @ 714kb/seconds on Orange 3G in my living room in a house.
you should be lucky you can get it at all, my home is on a hill with a direct line of sight to the o2 radio mast and i cant even get 3G!
Ive tried a new SIM im about to try a new radio ROM but all in all i just dont seem to be able to get it.
On O2 using Laurentius' V6 and with 3-4 bars of HSDPA from Kingston upon Thames....
I used Internet Explorer, downloaded the 1MB test file from http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed and got 474k/sec
Then I tested Opera with 1MB file and got 297 k/sec
Then I tested IE again (1 MB) to double check the speed and got 222 k/sec
Then double checked with Opera (1 MB)and got 351 k/sec
So what does this tell us? Well IE has the fastest and slowest download speed and Opera is somewhere in the middle so I don't think it tells us anything except download speeds can fluctuate quite significantly in a very short space of time! Not very helpful or consistent.
I noticed my average latency was 0.5 sec, which is made much less significant with a big download but by downloading small files or web pages the latency will have a much more noticable effect.
I also ran the test on my PC using my company network which is quite fast for browsing and only got 400k/sec but the latency was just 0.1 sec
