I'm not usually one to make these kinds of pitiful noob posts, but I've been Googling and reading for the past 3 hours and have gotten nowhere.
I installed ADP1.1 JFv1.41, because this post hasn't been updated and the JFv1.43 version was cleverly hidden in another post titled "...for UK RC9 firmware!". I am now getting an ota update prompt (0.95.0000, 1 of 2 updates) frequently now, which is odd because if I'm reading the latter post correctly, ota updates should have been disabled in 1.41. I tried to confirm this in the attached changelogs, but they are inexplicably for RC30/ADP1. Someone in another forum claimed that update notifications could be turned off in the marketplace, but this is not (or is no longer) true. A few questions:
* Which images have all update prompts (current and future) disabled? Or alternately, is there some way of disabling them without reinstalling?
* On a non-dev G1, what are the differences between ADP1.1 and RC33? So far, the only thing I've been able to confirm is that ADP versions can't download protected Market apps. Are there any particular advantages? Does ADP unlock the SIM, or is that handled at a lower level?
Many thanks in advance.
Most likely you're getting updates from Market for your installed apps.

It does not. SIM lock is handled by baseband (radio) processor.

No. Other people have encountered this issue, although I thought it was fixed in JFv1.41 and above:
" A System Update is Available.
Holiday phone update 1 of 2: This is a bootloader update (0.95.0000). After this update installs, your device will start downloading a full system update."
Hm... I guess? I don't know. I am running RC33 1.42 now so I have never seen the dialog in question. If the update servers are sending out code to dreams that report an ADP1 fingerprint then you might want to switch to RC33. Otherwise I believe someone detailed how to kill the update process a while back.
Edit: Typo
I never got update notices on ADP1.1 JFv1.41, so I don't know why you are getting them. Sorry I can't help with that. The only thing I can think of is that maybe you need to flash one of the SPLs? Probably either the engineering one, or the hard SPL if you haven't flashed them before. That won't touch your rom, so you won't lose anything.
I have the jf holiday version, and i'm not getting update notices.

Is that a typo? I haven't been able to find anything newer than JFv1.42 for RC33. (Holiday and RC9 are at JFv1.43).

Oops! Yes, meant 1.42 for RC33. Damn inconsistent versioning
Dont remember reading that notification of OTA's got turned off. I do know if you are using RC33 or RC9 of his that if you get an update notification and accept it that it wont install due to the update will be using the release keys and you are using the test keys.
Since the ADP firmware uses testkeys to begin with the update will work. If you dont want to keep getting the notifications Id suggest updating your phone to ADP 1.43 or letting the OTA update run.
hello a quick question
what is the different between R2BA023 and R2BA020

Would you be able to post some speed benchmarks of this latest firmware to see how it compares to the 020 version to see if I should root and flash.
Cheers

Hopefully I do it just for testing. But then, Ive decided to stick with the 020 rom as it is more stable and wait for a update/fix for 023.

I'm with proyaz. Given the fact that 025 is on it's way (or at least has been verified of it existence) there's not much point in updating to 023 if you are on 020...for now
Just curious for a benchmark if anyone would be so kind until 025 appears, which may or may not necessarily be better.
R2BA025 Iasn't guranteed!
It could well be a branded version of R2BA020/23.
R2BA023 Is Generic Uk
Could any one please upload the files for the latest R2BA023 firmware ....share the love people !
can someone tell me what is the advantage of rooting when we cant flash for example 2.1 or 2.2 os.
is it just because of some very minor root dependant apps or?
as i dont modify my system files, i dont see any reason to root it before there is the possibility to flash newer os ex 2.2 froyo.
thanks in advance
The advantage is that we can modify system files. Just because you don't do it doesn't mean noone else does.
The ability to tweak the living daylights out of the phone is golden for me.
Oh, it's also a requirement for any work to be done on the bootloader so we'll be able to flash custom images in the future.

If your not bothered about root apps or uninstalling sum apps it is not worth the effort. Im waiting for the bootloader to be hacked.

thanks for response, i guess i will have to wait for boot-loader crack too, since i am not into modifying and stuff like that.
I haven't rooted my phone yet, but it has been debranded to generic UK. I updated via OTA to R2BA020. But R2BA023 isn't out yet? At least not via OTA.
Has anyone tried via SEUS yet?
EDIT: Just tried SEUS - it thought there was an update so did it - but it just installed R2BA020 again :|
No one has the retail R2BA023 firmware to upload?!

Some root apps, remove branded crap, quadrapop, update moxier, etc..
Nothing major yet, it's mostly for development.
What I did to get R2BA023 is do the root process but STOP after the second step so that means I get the update without root

Do u have any carrier applications or any bugs that people find with root ? I am thinking of doing the same since my country seems to be not on the world map for se and don't really want root advantage since I - call me crazy - like all se applications - so I just wasn't the battery performance..

I just got a Rogers SE X10 and I noticed a few problems
1) Call Volume low
2) Lag when using dialpad
3) Screen kinda unresponsive
I know these are known problems but my question is if I root it, what problems will it fix? And what other advantages will rooting give?
Thanks!
Rooting wont fix any of the problems, but updating to the latest firmware may sort out a few issues.
As it shows Root means accessing roots of your phone (software wise) and gives you the ability to change not all but some of the section of the software which SE has implemented into your phone. Ability to delete main file from your phone and add many files which can improve the usability of your phone.
But as Haveer said, you may want to move up and upgrade your firmware which will help with some of the issues you are experiencing.
Update Firmware as in? I tried the update option in my phone but it says I have the latest version. Is there any specific app that can fix these problems?

You didn't tell us what version do you have. Go to settings/about phone and read the build number./ If you want SE to update it for you it will take sometimes to be available in your area. You may want to use the other thread about the builds.
XPERIA X10 Android Development>Decrypted x10 roms R2BA020 is the last one there but root will give you R2BA023. You need to learn how to flash it yourself. Read the instruction

It is, first one out I think. I should have worded my post in your other thread differrently. There is no advantage at present time to rooting other than you can install the latest update 023. Which in turn gives you a more sensitive screen, better battery and faster in general and you can install apps that need root.

And you haven't experienced any battery drainage?
One of the reason some people start coming to forums like here is because the manufacturer doesn't support their product as they should. So here we get ahead of them instantly. Thanks to our awesome developers. Good luck rooting, if you follow the steps right you won't have any issue. And also you can ask question in the right thread.

I'm still on 2.1 (XEO product code) - so be happy with what you have
does the dll patch still work?
My guess is that it would require an update, since the dll changed and things inside probably moved a bit.

Updated Check Fus to work with the new Kies version.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I am using win7 x64 and I have not had an issue until now.
When I set my phone to connect to Kies the program loops opening and closing and never connects.
-Edit-
It was an app I had installed Either... Google sky maps, Google shopper or winamp (remove the newest apps and it fixed the issue)
They spend more time to make sure that people don't use reg hacks than on the roll out of the actual official fw. What a retarded company. :|
So annoying. Each time they do an update to Kies it effects the Firmware upgrade of the SGS.
My previous version of Kies 1.5.3.10103_100 stated:
"The latest version is already installed on connected device.
Which is correct as it's stock OPTUS Australian firmware and Froyo has not been released in Australia.
After the message indicating a new version of Kies 1.5.3.10103_102 was available, which I did not install, the statement changed to:
"This version can not be updated"
So are we being forced to do the Kies update.
I will do it and see what the message say's then but at this time things are not looking good for Kies, SGS and Samsung. Getting well and truly annoyed with the way they do business.
Have just updated which took less time then normal which is a step in the right direction.
Kies now correctly reports for my SGS:
"The latest version is already installed on connected device.
Whew.
Kies Registry Patcher 1.6.0.0
[WINDOWS APP] Kies Registry Patcher 1.6.0.0, patch registry on latest Kies
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835628#
This tool is was designed in order to easily patch the registry to force Kies to update your Galaxy S.
This latest version of patcher works even with latest Kies (1.5.3.10103.102), all you have to do is to spoof your firmware version to and older one, you can even spoof the product code in order to change it.
The new spoof system works differently from the older patching system, it allow you to use the original dll of kies and works on latest Kies; It should even be future-proof.
Ugh, I updated and now it won't recognise my Tmo SGS T959. It doesn't even acknowledge that it's plugged in. Back to Kies 1.5.3.10093_82, I go.

I have the same problem with 1.5.3.10103_102 on my I9000 on a windows XP system, when I plug in my phone just get USB not recognized. Kies is a pain.
In my quest to resolve the FsUsbService64 Service Initiali Failed errors, I found a newer version of KIES on this website.
http://dls.scione-music.de/KIES/
Downloaded and installed Kies_1.5.3.10104_66.exe 20-Nov-2010 16:14 136M
and voila, no more errors !! Problem Resolved !!
However, I am not sure where this version come from as it is newer... than official Samsung version. If anyone knows ... pls share.
If you have USB driver issues, click on KIES pull down menu at top left and click on Driver Recovery. It should resolve your USB Driver issues.
Hello,
today i received a mail from Microfosft (I am registred as developer).
The sent me files to update to Mango. But before that they want to BackUp my phone, where my update was canceled.
It looks like the same Zune BackUp, when you do an update.
Is there any way to do this update with an HD2?
