Look what I found in recent email from HP- a free desktop emulator of the iPAQ 110. It looks pretty cool. I wonder if you could test the PXA310's features on it:

Tell me if it works.

tanks very much cruisin. I am really appreciated
inmarsat - have you seen another emulator other than the ones built into evc? It would be cute. The evc one is most (or only!? )useful for developers I guess.

the key point is not evc, it's wether the emulator is a PPC one or an mobile phone one, coz they have got different OS
I think
EVC has an emulator for PPC and Smartphone, Win Mobile 2003 and Win Mobile 5 I think. Just download each of the SDKs.

ok

both from microsoft website? i only found ppc emulator with evc. anyway, il have a look at it as you suggested.
thanks 4 ur suggestion!
of course, your code needs to be compiled to run on the emulator. You can't just take normal StrongArm (ie real) PDA programs and run them on the emulator.
Hope the info helps. BTW, I think microsoft will post out free demo disks of the SDKs and visual studio if you look around on the website.

Hi.
The "emulators" inside the PPC 200x SDKs / WinCE SDKs are not really emulators.
They can be seen as swappers, because they do not emulate ARM processors.
If you need a real PocketPC / Smartphone emulator with real ARM emulation,
than try google: "device emulator", "Windows CE 5.0 Device Emulator", "device emulator 1.0"
You will find (an unofficial) emulator/ emulators, which is/was/were also developed by $Micro****$.
Been searching for a couple of days now for a free C64 emulator for the XDAII. All I can find is Comeback64 which says not compatible with the connected device. I also found a link to one called PocketHobbit, but alas the link was dead.
Any clues?
Here are some tools to get access from my mobile PPC to my desktop or laptop at home.
http://www.avvenu.com./index.html
This one is FREE for basic service. That sounds good already.
http://www.1-view.com/
This one is taylor made for imate, I have an Imate Jas Jar should I go with the imate line, but $89 USD, plus some limations on file size 15 MB in FAQ.
http://www.z2software.com/Remote2PC.htm
Cost around $37. works with WM5, heaps of awards, and seams the best choice.
Each have different limitations on how many PC you can link to, etc.
Any body have any other recommendations or shend light on which is the BEST HANDS DOWN !
Please advise.
Avvenu is really good and free... In addition logmein can be used which is a decent piece of software IMO
Why not use terminal services that comes with your PPC? I use it all the time and it works perfectly. You can even get a VGA version of the client on these forums.
I'm looking for some x86 emulator that works on Windows Mobile 5 or 6. I used Pocket Bochs, but it doesnt work on my Qtek9100 with WM 5 nor WM 6. Is there any way how to run it on WM5/6 or is there some other x86 emulator for WM5/6? Google didnt found anything else than Pocket Bochs.

plz NO MORE BOCHS name EVER!
there are some other versions and builds of x86 emulators...
dosboxes by n0p - ok on wizard,
n0p cvs build(only which lead me to launch fallout on ppc..13 mb RAM!, master of orion playable, even HOMM was ok, settlers in 800x600, settlers 2...and playable jack jazz rabbit ) - works ok on wizard,
n0p dosbox xscale optimised - cant remember if its ok on wizard,
dosbox 6.1 - didnt want to try,
dosbox for wm03se - i cant find it on HDD...
some older dosboxes(arent optimised),
pdosbox 1.1 - forget it..,
pdosbox 2.0 - damn fast DAMN unstable....didnt test it on wizard
pckdos(made as pdosbox 2.x, more stable than 2.0)-seems to be quite slow on wizard, best mouse control,
pocketdos(fast 286, until 386/486 plugins used, then slow like bochs, i launched fallout on that 1 too ...)....works fine on wizard...
qemm- did not test...
3/4 of speed is to set PROPER cfg options.... so if its slow... its wrong set, or you are trying to make it on improper device ...
i am on wizard now, i was earlier on 400 mhz xscale...trust me wizard is slow with pc emus, always , but dosbox cvs seems to be fastest...when we are talking about usability.
for 286 pocketdos may be best...though.
btw, do not waste time with 195 mhz..lol... start from 243-273 mhz ...
link to dosboxes by n0p..:
http://n0p.tonych.info/?Welcome
btw - theres port of WARCRAFT 2 too, and ONLY sega mega drive emulator, that is able to run EU roms(pirates, cannon fodder, lemmings, lemmings tribes, etc)...
n0p is great.
Guys and gals, don’t forget to check out my brand new, MS-DOS / x86 emulation-related article at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1276884
(Sorry for flooding – IMHO, this article certainly deserves attention because it answers ALL the questions a Windows Mobile user may want to EVER ask about emulating MS-DOS. Make sure you read it!)
wow, respect, seems to be very interesting article!
I just updated my old Ipaq hx2410 with wm6.0 and it works great! One small problem though.... I can not get any of the java vm's to work on it. I would love to be able to use the opera mini browser that I use on my hermes.
Any thoughts? When I do install it it says that it can not run because it is not signed or a component is missing..
try esmertec jbed 20071119.3.1. it is a java emulator and works much better than the build-in one!!
I wish there was one built into the ROM. For the old hx2*** line there was not one, at least in the ROM's I have looked at and seen. I did on the other hand find one that actually works!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=279600
Right from here on the good 'ol XDA site. Works like a charm. Doesn't start nearly as fast as Jbed does on my Hermes but still good enough to use opera mini which I think is the best hand held browsing experience I have ever had!
