GPS & standby mode - XPERIA X1 General

I'm using iGO 8 navigation software. It works perfectly on X1.
But when iGO is running and Xpreia goes to standby mode (turning off the display) - it looses GPS satelites. When you turning it on again - it takes time locate sats and catch the road again.
Another problem.
iGO can write your coordinates into journal, and then show your movement trace on map. In this mode you just need to run iGO and have a GPS receiver active. Saving battery power iGO turns the display off after some minutes... and GPS receiver also goes off.
Previously I have a HTC Herald with external Bluetooth GPS receiver and never had any of this problems.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

HP Ipaq 614c GPS and Bluetooth annoyances

Hi there, 2 questions:
1) The built-in GPS receiver turns OFF when switching the device standby - that's really bad for me because I like to log my GPS track when I go hiking. Is there any setting (registry? hack?) to tell GPS NOT to turn off?
2) I thought of a "workaround" to use my old Holux GPS bluetooth mouse. Pairing works, but after switching the device in standy mode, it TURNS ITSELF ON AGAIN!!! (after 3 seconds) - so battery is again burned. Is there any setting to tell the device NOT to turn itself on? It seems to be the case with any kind of incoming bluetooth connection, the screen goes on. That's really bad for me...
So anyone can help? Is it a generic WM 6.0 annoyance or an Ipaq 614 "special"?
Greetz B.
go to battery settings and let the device work with no time limt
then use this app

(there are more freeware for this issue )

gps problem

Hi, I'm using a Royaltek RBT-2300 gps reciever and iGO 2006+, but my Elfin losing the BT connection frequently (it is connected about 2 sec long and not connected about 20 sec). I've tried the reciever with a NOKIA N95 it worked fine, also tried with an ipaq pda (with iGO 8) - losing connection too. I set everything in the External GPS thing, but same story... Any ideas?

Navigon GPS

I have Navigon sat nav on the phone, but it wont activate the gps, I have to use google maps, wait till it finds the satelites, then turn on Navigon to piggy back it, is there a way to get Navigon to activate the onboard gps ?
Set the GPS receiver to another one and change the port and baud rate.
ok thanks, will try

[solved] GPS only reporting position, not satelites

Hi, can anyone confirm that the built in gps only reports the current position? I use tomtom 7.450 and on my diamond in the gps configuration page it would indicate satelite number, position (both in the top right circles) and signal strength for each satelite (grey/blue bars at the bottom).
My HD2 with 1.48 does not report any satelite data (at least not to tomtom), but only the position east and north. Can anyone confirm this? And is there a way to get satelite "debug" output as well?
Thanks...
EDIT: Seems to be an issue with that particular version of tomtom only.
hi mcseven,
im using tomtom7.45 as well and im getting the same results. i think you are right in your suspicions. the gps probably only outputs lat (N/S) and long (E/W). not just N and E.
the last time i used a BT gps receiver from Holux and that gave me satellite info + gps data but i felt that the lag from the BT connection was a pain and as such still use the internal gps.
what do you intend to do with the satellite info anyways?
I get the same sometimes with leo but never had the problem with Raphael.
I saw a thread discussing this issue a little while back, but I can't remember the exact cause.
I DO remember though that it is an issue with TomTom, and nothing wrong with the GPS functionality.
For example, if I run TomTom, it will locate my position, but not show an satellite connections. However, if I run CoPilot, that locates my position and shows how many satellites I'm connected to and their signal strength.
Sorry I can't remember what the agreed cause of this was, but it was definitely NOT the GPS in the phone.
hi,
i think its a tom tom thing, because if u get gps position you also get satelite data. i do a quick test with igo, copilot, visualgpsce and gpstuner. the are all showing the number of sat's, there position in the sky and the other stuff.
regards mad.
I use TomTom 7.910 and it works normally...Displays both signal strength and satellite just as before. So it's either a pb with your version of TomTom as others suggested or with your ROM.
Thank you all, I also believe it to be an issue with tomtom 7.450 only. Navigons shows sat. data as expected, and the NMEA output confirms this. So I'll simply upgrade tomtom. Thanks again...

TT7 and GPS problems

Hi there,
I'm terribly newbie with Jade, so sorry........
I have installed TomTom navigator 7 but GPS doesn't work (I cannot fix sats).
Which GPS must I set in TT configuration?
- integrated GPS receiver
- cabled receiver
- other receiver GPS NMES
And what about com port??
thanks
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=481671
see in this post
integrated GPS receiver is the one.
When testing, dont expect it to work indoors...
Thank you, that's right for the internal receiver.
Now I've got another problem: I cannot see the sat bar during navigation (I can see the bar but it's empty - no sats locked, even if TT is working right) and I cannot see locked sats in GPS status menu.........
Moreover, when I select a destination if I press "C" letter (only C, with other letters everything is ok) TT stops working and I must reset it.
Can you help me please?
My TT version is 7.450.9028
Thank you
