is there a soft keyboard out there that has a ".com" key like the iphone? i find that key very useful on the iphone and would make typing a little easier as wm.
thanks
There are skins for PCM Keyboard that have that functionality. Check here: http://pocketcm.com/phorum/list.php?14 for more info.

thanks for pointing me to pcm kb guys...
i've been playing with it for a few hours and the first one i tried was max's skin. i love all the stuff you have in it, but it took up too much real estate on my screen, esp. in landscape mode. so after trying out a few more, settled on the smaller htctoucher LIGHT layout for the dream skin which is a bit more compact.
also, i am finding that each time i reboot my wing, it goes back to the default wm keyboard, is there a way to have the pcm my default kb?
thanks again.
try TouchPal
There's a lil program call SIPSelect (I think) that runs during startup that changes your SIP to whichever you want
With Touchpal you can also create personal messages and select them in a second...
It has also what you are searching for...
Touchpal has a button to enter a web site address..
You can push it and you only have to enter the name of the site, "www" and ".com" are automatically written....
is there a link for touchpal? i thought it was just another skin for pcm. i'm going to look into the sipselect thing when i get home tonight.
thanks
You can find TouchPal here:
http://www.cootek.com/
it is by far the best soft keyboard out there.
you can even use gestures to control the size of the keyboard dynamically.
I have seen this posted a few times, but no solution. Every time I click on something the on screen keyboard pops up and seeing that I have a built in keyboard. Is there anyway to stop the on-screen keyboard from popping?
There are a lot of issue regarding the keyboard and opera 9.5
The Cruise keyboard doesn"t work on it
Yeah I got the t-mobile wing I don't need the on screen as I got the full qwerty.
Is it possible to have a local HTML file for the startpage?
Because i want some quicklinks and so on.
ok. I know I saw someone mention on this forum that there is a cab you can install for a larger on-screen keyboard. I've been searching the forums, but can not find this cab. I hate typing with my stylus, and with tf2d installed I rarely flip open my phone anymore (landscape is still not fully supported).
anyone know where I can get a hold of the large on-screen keyboard? An attachment or a forum link would be ideal.
thanks again!!! =)
I'd definately be interested in this too...

thanks so much for the help! I reviewed all of these keyboard and decided that I like the HTC touch keyboard the best..... Only problem is. I install the cab, and it does NOTHING! It still has the same old crappy on-screen keyboard! (stylus required)
I am using ttran's OTP 7 (tf2d manila)
I am uploading the cab now, so anyone else who has time.... test this and let me know if I am the only one with this problem... and if you know a solution please post.
Thanks again!

You have to touch & hold the little arrow by the keyboard to select the new one. You'll have to do this every time you reset your phone, but the attached cab will fix that. Just install it & you'll see it in your programs list. This will allow you to set the default keyboard so it doesn't reset each time you power up your phone.
When I use HW keyboard it always has ABC mode on. I have to use FN key and T9 key to choose T9 manually.
How can I enable T9 to be automatically ON when I use HW keyboard?
Thank you for your help
the t9 always works with a onscreen keyboard. Also if you manage it with a hack a problem would be to where the word suggestions should pop up on the screen.
when someone write a programme for your suggestion than it would be a custom keyboard without letters, only word suggestions and pops automaticly up when the keyboard on the pro is used.
Maybe someone already wrote it.
It would be nice trough
Search for the cab god damn it! There is a cab in one of the ezinput keyboard threads in dev & hacking that allows T9 to always be on (Yes, including the HW keyboard).

You don't happen to have a link to this cab at hand, do you? I for one would like to have the T9 always on (even with the hw keyboard), but did not manage to find the correct thread / cab even after an extensive search.
I searched with no result, unfortunately. If you could be so kind to address me to that cab, I would be very grateful indeed.

Oh that was so hard I almost had to use my brain
First result when searching on ezinput T9 always enable came up trumps...
DeadKeys / T9 as default behaviour for the Fn+Space combo - Full HW Keyboard phones
I thank you very much. Even if I walk around here for years, sometimes it happens that I am not able to find out things. Fortunately there are others who help
You're very welcome, glad to help.
Thanks for pointing out about the keyboard, did you test it and it works?
why not FN + Space It´s working at my device
Because I would like that when I slide out the keyboard I can immediately type with T9 on, without switching it on manually - this is the meaning of "automatically ON"
okaaaay. sry for that, but just tell me the sense of T9 with a "complete" keyboard!?? Do you also have T9 at your computer at home?

I see a couple of ways T9 is useful with the full keyboard.
1. Words like "won't" can be typed out with w-o-n-t rather than w-o-n-FN-'-t
2. It helps with long words. We can use the arrow keys to choose the word after a couple of letters rather than typing out the rest of the word.
There's a fundamental difference between the keyboard on a mobile device like the Rhodium and your desktop keyboard. On our Rhodium, we have only our 2 thumbs. On a full size desktop/notebook, we make use of all 10 of our fingers.
It seems that we are concentrating on why I have asked to have T9 ON, while I was asking HOW to have it on.
If you don't agree that it is a good thing that somebody finds out how to, simply don't post here
I never used T9 but it supposed to offer words from vocabulary? in my case it doesn't...
well, has someone found a way to make this work on landscape or hardware keyboard ??
having to always activa xt9 is boring ..
(that cab does not work) looking at the registry is changes from 1 to 0 when changing to landscape and it's the htc keyboard doing this. If you activate xt9 and change to the default windows keyboard it works but then you have a small keyboard when on portait.
I agree, the same thing happens to me. The easiest solution is to have it rotate to portrait, pull up the XT9 keyboard and then open the screen.
It's a pain, though. Would love another solution.
Dead key
None of CABs which can be found here are not working the way that if I will press Fn+Sym it acts as deadkey - always T9 dialog is shown. Have anybody idea how to change it?
Hi All,
I am trying to figure out if this is a bug on my phone or working as designed. When I type an email in gmail, or the HTC mail app or an SMS in native or handcent I always get the HTC keyboard which predicatively corrects my text entry as i type.
When I use the built in browser to browse the web I do not get the same predictive correction and it accepts whatever key my finger touches. This also happens in the URL bar, Google search page, any web page, or the box that appears when you press the search button in the bottom right.
Is this working as designed? how can i get it to correct my entry when i am typing something into google to do a search?
Thanks
this is the normal behavior,
If you want prediction and correction in search and browser you could give the HTC_IME mod by Jonasl a try.
It's the stock htc keyboard with some really cool mods like gestures ,prediction wherever you like and MUCH more.
I use it myself and I would recommend it. It even fixes quite some bugs from the HTC stock keyboard.
Check:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=624416
BTW: You need the low res version for the HTC Legend.
Ok, Good to know it is the stock behavior and not just me. I must say I find it a little strange though as the prediction is a great part of HTC SenseUI and to not include it in the browser is odd.
I have installed the mod as suggested. It is just what I was looking for. Thanks.
