and use the volume buttons at the side?
i can only assume its this?

Strange click sound ... !!?

hi there ...
there is a strange click sound when i put my finger and push little on the location at the picture... i just want to make sure if this happen to all HTC Universal or just me 8) .
NiGhTmArE
yep - does not sound like anything undesirable tho
Me too...bit of a loose case, I guess. Certainly nothing to worry about, just don't push too hard!
so this is a manufacture issue...
cool i just want to make sure of it because i paid lot of money.
so is it repairable? or not?!!

Ermm, I seem to be the exception to the rule today. I don't hear any sound, its rock solid. I even lifted up the screen and pressed on the area just a little beyond the "enter" button. I could not hear anythin until I brought it closeeee to my ear and even then it was barely audible!
Could you more specific which area u are referring to?

Sound Speaker issue..

Hmmm.. well i'm guessing it's a bit far-fetched.. but is there anything here does helps with the speakers of the X1.. at times, i cant even hear the ring..
I'm new in WinMo and after reading at these threads, i'm juz trying my luck to see whether there's anything that can be done..
Thanks a lot guyz...
Generally, I have no problems with the speaker at all. Only when it's covered, the sound diminishes really fast. Is your speaker by any chance covered? For instance when in your pocket. All you can do is increase your volume with the side buttons, and set it to vibrate + ring.
It's not really covered but it is on my pocket.. and the thing is i work in quite a noisy environment.. so it is a bit hard to hear it sometimes..
yea the sound goes really low when it is covered and only one speaker is there so the sound is very low try using the ring + vibrate mode it may help u little bit and also u can set the option of illumination while ringing.
if i put it in my pocket, i dunno if it is coverd but i can't hear the ring
also, the vibration is so "consistant" that i couldn't feel it.......

Had the same issue with a previous phone
I solved it by wearing a Sony Ericsson BT watch
My watch vibrates (and the tickle is sooo obvious, canĀ“t be mistaken) and tells me who's calling
Maybe a BT watch can help if you work in a noisy environment

I think he meant, he's getting a new phone through HTC.
On to your problem, I have not seen anything wrong with my phone.
can run a test if its only with me or every hav the same problem
Ok go to phone app and press any Number key(it makes a tone) and then right away bring the phone speaker close to your ear for 10 secs and see if u hear any other sound other then the keytone. thanks and let me know the result, thanks a AALLOTTT,

Followed your instructions and "nope" no sound........
Its normal behaviour: turn your volume up all the way, trigger any sound. Then if you have good ears you can hear static at very low volume for about a second. Then the powermanagement cuts power to the amplifier and the phone goes completely silent again.
PS: Same behavior on my desktop PC running Fedora 12. You only hear the static from the soundcard if it suddenly stops ;-)
This is perfectly normal, when the hissing stops, thats the speaker turning off to save power, most other things with speakers do the same thing, it's not worth returning your beautiful Nexus One just for that...
EDIT: sorry, just noticed Volker1's post,
Yeah, I have the same thing, but as others said, it's normal behaviour.
Maybe the amplifier for the speaker is a bit noisier on this phone than some others, hence you can hear it before it gets switched off (might also explain the awful quality of the speaker phone experience)?

Noise Cancellation + Fading Problems

I'm sure theres a couple of people who are expericing the same problem.'
anyways who here experience this
If you place the phone on your right ear to talk, the other side experience fade in and out voices. Alot of my callers say they cannot hear me if I hold the phone on my right right
but if I switch to the left ear they hear me crystal clear. anyone expericing this?
+1 here.
i suspect it's because the design, the position of the mic (the one receives our voices) get easily covered when in your right hand (partially if not whole) and it just can't pick up our voice.
yeah thats sad. I hope they do something about that such as if its detected in right ear it cancel that second speaker.
+1 my peoples hate my new phone... they say i sound like iam in a tin box... then they hang up on me!!!
same here whenever I use the speaker..sucks!!
I have this same problem. I use the phone on my right and people say I get super quiet.
Then I switch the phone to the left and it's fine, but after like a minute my voice goes down to super quiet and I have to switch again.
Hmph.

Voicemail feature on native 9.0.11 dialer

The voicemail feature in the native dialer does not allow for speaker phone to be enabled to listen to voicemail. The audio from the voicemail feature only gets piped through the ear speaker. Is this the way it's supposed to be or am I missing where to enable the speaker phone option?

When I tap that, which is a little speaker icon, it just mutes the audio, it doesn't toggle to speaker phone.

Are you sure? Because for me the icon does looks like the speaker is muted because of the slash through it, but it does plays through my speakerphone when I toggle it.

Yea, I've tested it multiple times. Are you on 9.0.11?

Yes I am on 9.0.11, that's really weird because it's been working fine since I first got my device. Wish I could help but now I'm not sure what the deal is with your phone. Hope someone else can chime in and help you out.

Now this is really weird! I just received a voicemail about 30 mins ago. I went to check it and now when I tap that little speaker icon a line appears through it and it plays over the speaker phone. Without the line through it it plays through the ear speaker. I would have thought the icon graphics would have been reversed from that. But regardless there was a time when tapping the icon would mute the playback. I dunno.

Yeah no clue either why the icons are reversed. Might have something to do with me using the system-wide dark theme, but I'm glad you got it working. :good:
Yeah, it is goofy, when you select the slash/kind of mute, it plays through the speaker at the bottom. When it is regular, it plays through the earpiece. Once on the slash/mute looking setting, adjust the volume, it will then play loudly through the speaker. Another oddity of the phone.
