Hi there, thanks for all the great info here first of all!
Would it be possible for there to be a sticky made that has a list of the major ROMs that are available that'd link to their respective threads?
I know there are the stickies for a few roms, but for someone new to all this like me it's difficult to determine what ROM is what. Something like this would be nice and easy for everyone that aren't totally in the know:
ROM Designer - Status - Revision Number/Name/Description
Xplode - Stable - 6.1.blahblah.CrikeyWhatAreAllThoseNumbersFor??.0226
Bill_Gates - Testing - WM6.1 Stripped Clean
Sun_dream - Stable - WM6.1 Feature Packed
That's just a simple example. I think having some sort of name for the ROM whether it is the designer, short description or both, and a status whether it's a stable or a beta-test version are the two very key items that would help everyone the most.
I know in a FAQ somewhere I read about what all those numbers mean, but I shouldn't have to go searching for that information each time to understand what in the world they mean.
This way each ROM designer could have one post that they update with new revisions, and the main List Sticky just points to that designers thread.
In the designer's thread it would probably be wise to have a sort of standardized format as well such as:
-Designer Name/ROM Name
-"Stable Version below:"
-Stable version number
-Stable version revision explanation
-Stable version download
-blank line
-"Beta Version below:"
-Beta version number
-Beta version revision explanation
-Beta version download
-blank line
-Any other discussion, instructions, spam, pictures of cute kitties, etc.
Just my two cents ($32.51 with inflation)!
Hello Guys,
First of all I would like to thank all the guys here for sharing their knowledge, files, making extraordinary tutorials etc. I am a newbie here and also a new owner of X1i which i got in german language. I know how newbie posts may look like so i tried to explore the forum as much as i could and after so many tries (unnatural forces saved the phone from hitting the wall;-) i successfully flashed my Xperia to English language. That was my goal.
I didn't know how to backup my original ROM (no problem about that cause i won't be needing it) but i noted all the original info i could find from it before updating.
Forum is really huge and somtimes its needed to go over 20+ pages at one thread. So please don't mind me (bear with the newbie;-) ) Everything is working fine for me now. I would like to know if my system is up-to-date. Maybe there are newer stuff, English language, to update my phone, rom, operating system, etc. This is my before/after situation.

I was also playing around some more and installed HTC TouchFLO, Manilla.
TouchFLO 3D 1.3.35345.1_1630.38
It is working fine but sometimes when using it, customizing options, just exploring the phone, nothing special, it uses to freeze sometimes. I have to remove the battery to restart it. Do such things happen, i know its not xperia native? Is there maybe a newer port of TouchFLO for Xperia i could use.
Thanks a bunch guys!

New ROM is available via Sony Update Service now, for those people who were reluctant to update with the ROMs available on xda...
Thank you all guys very much, really appreciated.
With TouchFLO i have now, i got rid of freezes by removing it from today's items and adding touchflo panel.. So far no freezes or anything. Definitely later today i'll give it a go with Touch-IT 4.0b4, looks really great.
@Lokatho, thanks buddy for all these links. I see from your signature you have 4.0b4 running, i bet i runs great. Regarding SPL, it was my main trouble before i could update new rom. After updating it to SPL-0.72.OliNex everything goes smoothly as through butter, no more 0% stops or such and i can update roms easily. I see you have different one, i am not sure if its the same as this one i have. Do i have to update it or just to keep the one i have.
I used my laptop with windows for doing all the updates but i also use a Mac for everyday work. I can confirm that BluePhoneElite 2, for Mac users, is working like a charm with X1.. This phone is really beautiful. I will also give it a try with MissingSync for Mac later, if i can do the syncing with it i'll be more than happy ;-)

Nope, it's the same version. But it's the first version of Hard-SPL for X1, so Hard-SPL v1.0. But when in boot mode it says SPL-0.72.OliNex.
Have been running roms from itje since his Touch-IT 2.2 and love them ever since. But I must say the 4.0 is imho the best!
Thanks a lot, now much more things are clear to me.
I updated to Touch-It v.4 b6 (in the mean time it had become availabe). It is working flawlessly. I had some minor problems, wi-fi droppings, but i found out that my X1 just doesn't get along very well with my MSI router. This weekend i tried it with one of Belkin's 11b-g-n routers and the phone has rock soild wireless connection. So i bet its something related with the compatibility or MSI just sucks. I tried with no wi-fi security, WPA-WPA2/PSK, WEP and it drops all the time and looses connection. With Belkin it works just great with any of the wi-fi security.
As i am brand new with this, a week or so, i was also playing around with making my own rom, based on UK R2AA010. Actually i made very much stripped OS, got rid of most of the things i don't use at all, totally lite version. Rom is fast and there is plenty of free memory. I dont know how hard is to incorporate TouchFLO 3D in it, but also i dont mind installing it separately, as i did it first time when i tried touchflo on xperia. I am not sure what's the latest xperia touchflo port version. I tried Blackstone (with black numbers on home panel, if thats the version) which i dont like. I prefer the variant as in latest touch-it4b6 or the one i had for the first time, TouchFLO 3D 1.3.35345.1_1630.38. It works fine with the panel installed, freezes when in today's items. But when restarting the phone default experia panel is loaded and not touchflo one. Can't figure it out. Can someone put a little light on TouchFLO for me please?
Thanks guys!
Due to a lot good man here making a lot of good ROM's we are flooded with huge versions and updates, however I personaly confused for one small issue and I assume that some (non developers) as same.
there are several Numbers provided with the ROM - not all of them are the same all the time so it is very hard to compare.
there is the OEM issue 3.16, 3.18 and 3.19 ....
there is the XIP issue 21140, 19997 etc'
the OS name 6.1, 6.5 etc'
and there is the OS 5.2.x.x etc
1. question is how can I see all this information in the ROM that we get since the Devlopers are giving partial information from time to time and in the device ID there is also partial information (that mostly include Developer signiture....)
2. can we ask from now, all the Dev' will provide all the information in there post?
Hello All,
I picked up my HD2 about a week ago and I must say this phone is sweet. This is my first touch screen phone and also wm phone. I have did some small cosmetic changes to it already (5x4 quicklinks; lock swipe at the bottom; brain's task bar and less sensitive touch screen). Still getting use to typing/texting on the screen.
What I wanted to ask was with all the themes, mods, hacks in here there are always things mentioned of what software versions it will work with. From what I gather (on my phone):
1. When I navigate to settings>all settings>system>about, it shows a "splash screen" of the version of WM. Is this where others have stated versions 6.5.x.? Also it displays CE OS 5.2.21869 (build 21869.5.0.82) Does this have any valid impact on what themes, etc can be used on the phone?
2. When I navigate to settings>about phone>software information, it lists a bunch of software versions. Which pieces of information should I be concerned about?
3. Finally, on the UK HTC website there are a bunch of updates and two ROMS. Should I or do I need to install all of them or should the latest ROM be sufficient?
My info:
Manila: 2.5.19211619.0
ROM: 1.48.405.2 (71294) WWE
ROM Date: 11/18/09
Radio: 2.05.51.05_2
Protocol: 15.28.50.07W
TIA
CE OS 5.2.21869 (build 21869.5.0.82) means WM6.5.0.
Most people just call this WM6.5 (although WM6.5.X is actually WM6.5 as well).
This has an impact on what Windows Mobile themes you can use (e.g. Livven's themes, or shadowline's).
Which pieces of information should I be concerned about?

The Manila (=Sense) version. On your phone, it's probably something like 2.5.1911xxxx, often referred to as "Manila 1911".
Should I or do I need to install all of them or should the latest ROM be sufficient?

Don't try to fix something that's not broken. However, the newest ROM (1.66) is supposed to resolve issues with SMS and improve the general speed.
Thanks for the quick reply freyberry.
How are people getting the "new" WM 6.5.X? I see no mention of it on M$ site.
What was wrong with SMS? I have had no problems out of the box with sending/receiving texts so far, short of the timestamp issue which a regedit fixed.
There's no official update to WM6.5.X (yet).
You can get it unofficially in the ROM section: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=534
But make sure you first read all the tutorials! And I suggest you stay with the official ROM for a while, until you're familiar with the device.
Some people could not send SMS, but that didn't happen to everyone.
I noticed the Radio software from the above link that all end in 07U but mine has 07W. What's the difference?

I dont have the update url even for it, as Yi roms use a different update server, I also dont know the actual version number for the same reason.
Thus I dont know what's changed, esp from Yi 1.0 to 2.0
Edit: if someone actually managed to update to it, i'd appreciate if they could post the update url or the zip itself.
Getting the url might be a bit tricky, you'll need to sniff it, but there's many ways of finding out
