Can I change the place for storing attachments? - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hi,
this is my problem:
The device memory on my PPC is very low so I enabled the Extended Storage on my device, deleted all the operator cabs and installed some application into it.
The problem is, that this \ExtStorage is shown as a storage card in my explorer. So Pocket Outlook offers to store email attachments only into this place.
What can I do now? Can I change the registry, so that outlook stores the files onto the true SD card?
Or can I disable the Extended Storage and all the shortcuts to the apps there will still work?

Change the sync location of My Files in activesync to use storage card

I threw a few music files in the MY PDA folder under My Documents on my PC and expected them to sync accross to my Vario II. After connecting the phone it sent a couple across then I got a warning on the phone that 'Storage Memory is Critically Low'. Obviously the files had been synced onto the phone. Thought you would be able to specify to sync onto the phone storage card but there is no option for this anywhere.
Anyone know a way to do this?
if you set up the sync option for media player in active sync and then set up the playslists you want to sync in media player on your pc it will automatically set up the folders on your card and transfer the files. it does warn not to drag and drop onto the card of you want the sync process to work.
Cheers cdyat, but this was more of a test. For instance, what if I want to sync 30Mb of Office files with my phone. It would appear that I can't just put these in the My PDA Sync folder to be copied next time I connect, but I have to cut and paste from the relevant folders.
This to me seems ridiculous but I can't see an option to change the location to sync with the storage card anywhere.
You can only sync files, be default, into main memory. There are two 3rd party apps available (Sorry can't remember the names) that will allow you to Sync anything to anywhere. One is commercial and the other is a Japenglish conversion. Try searching these forums for links.
I am all for searching, but if anyone comes up with a name for those two apps, please post =)
As another user recently posted in this forum, Pocket Controller has a Sync Manager that can be used to synchronize files and folders to any location, including storage cards.
Pocket Controller sounds very nice but $35 is quite a lot just to enable me to sync a folder to my storage card.
I had assumed there must be a registry setting somewhere on the PC that would change the default path?
Try these

YMMV, but have a nice day...
Cheers Daniel, Mobsync looks like it might do the trick.
Acid Sync - Sync Computer Folder to SD Card\Folder
A guy I know is working on a program to do this with a much easier configuration since it just syncs Desktop folder to Storage Card folder. Pretty simple really, copy mp3 or whatever to desktop folder and it will sync to PPC folder and viceversa. Still in beta though

SKtools renames Storage Card?

I wanted to store my messages on my Storage Card. So to do this i used SKtools. So far so good. After a soft reset no programs are working anymore.
After some research I found out that my messages indeed were stored @ Storage Card\my messages ...BUT the REAL Storage Card was renamed to Storage Card2. That was the reason programs are no longer working.
I really dont now why SKtools should create a new folder with teh same name. Anyone knows this problem?
It's not SKTools renaming your card, it's your HD2.
I posted a few things about this early on and got no interest or response - you are the first person other than me who has tried this (apparently!).
In the absense of a more definitive answer, I am assuming that the storage card is slow to mount on the HD2, so the system can't find it when initialising mail and so creates it's own 'Storage Card' folder. When the real card is mounted it is therefore named 'Storage Card2'.
As for what to do about it... Well, there is talk dating back a couple of years about delaying the loading of mail applications to give the card a chance to mount, but that dates back to WM5 and WM6 and relates to disabling the mail plugin on the Today Screen. With that in mind I tried checking the Startup Folder and removed the link to poutlook that was in there, but it made no difference.
It may just be another example of where HTC in trying to improve the interface have badly impacted what was a crucial piece of functiuonality for me - the ability to move my mail to the Storage Card. Given the issues being reported with storage space on the device, this is a major pain!
You can at least use the system software to send any attachments to the Storage Card - that works without issue.

How to store Outlook messages on the storage card ?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-298646.html
Has anyone been able to get this working on HD2 ? It has worked very well with WM6 on my TYTN. But on HD2, when you set the mentioned registry values, for some reason, the Storage Card folder gets renamed to "Storage Card2", thus rendering the registry settings useless.
Is it possible that Outlook is getting invoked before the storage card is mounted ?
Why not just go
mail tab - Inbox - Menu - Tools - Options - Storage - and tick 'when available use this storage card to store attachments'
No need to edit the registry, Is that not working for you?

Click to collapse
Samuel, that setting only affects the attachments. I am looking for storing the emails itself on the storage card.
Ahhh gotcha.

Mails stored to storage card

Guys. I have a question about synchronizing an exchange mailbox. With my former phone, the Blackstone, I was used to set the registry tweaks for the path where the mails were stored on the storage card. But those tweaks don't work with the Leo because the storage card is initialized in a different way. So when those tweaks are enabled, my storage card becomes storage card2. Is there a way to make this work or make sure the mails are stored at the storage card in a, before specified, directory?
Do you mean
Inbox>Menu>Tools>Options> and at the bottom storage
and tick the box, (when available use this storage card to store the attachments)
??
Yeah, well partly this is what I was looking for. But it now only stores the attachments on the storage card not the mails. And I like to store the mails on that place as well.
