Hi guys,
I've been lurking here since I got my Sprint Diamond last week and have already used a few programs from the developers here. Thanks for all the hard work.
So I installed FInixIOver's battery icon from this thread and love the new look. One issue I have seems that it's a Sprint Diamond issue. The Battery displays in increments of 10%. I've searched and couldn't find if anyone has come up with a fix to see 1% increments. I was just wondering, thanks in advance.
Any luck?
---> shameless bump
the cdma diamonds only have a 10% battery driver.
search google for no2chems 1% battery dll, although beware, it is inaccurate from 90%-100% charge, and when you take your phone off the charger it will immediately display 93%. it is very annoying.
Ah, thanks a million. I'll give that a try and see if it's any more annoying than the 10% display.

After the 1st full charge, the reported battery charge is available only in 10s%. i.e. 100%-90%-80% etc.
All the intermediate values are ommited.
Anyone with similar problem?
Any solution?
Welcome aboard, Christo...
...but please, next time, do a search in the fora before asking.
It has been discussed many times and, although [IMHO] it is indeed a problem, there doesn't seem to exist a solution -yet. Supposedly, it's just the normal behaviour...
-s.
Well...
I emailed HTC with this problem and they replied me with "this is the memory effect for batteries 6 months old or older" - Crap.
I asked them to replace the battery.
Still waiting for reply.
The truth is that after the above mentioned situation I guessed that I had a unique problem, and that's why I did not search the forum. Sorry... :?
I got HTC's reply. They claim that this is the normal behaviour.
It might be "normal behaviour", but we would still like to change it!
Mine's doing this right out of the box (from the first charge). Maybe HTC are using cheaper voltage detection circuitry... grumble
The funny thing is that I am absolutely sure that it worked normally, showing all the values, before the first charge. :?:
My Vario II (Tytn) has only ever decreased in 10 percent intervals, right from new.
I expect there is some sort of programming or hardware shortcut HTC have taken which has resulted in this as I guess they didn't think too many people would consider it a problem.
I have to say I would prefer it to measure the percentage precisely, like it used to do on my XDA Mini S (Wizard).
Hopefully, if it is software related (sorry, I am not techy enough to know whether it is most likely to be software or hardware) then may be a future update will change it back to 1 percent intervals.
I'm sure that it isnt a problem of memory effect of the battery, because my battery has one weeks and the battery meter decrease 10%s at time.
But... I'm sure... the first time I have seen the battery... charge for the 98% or 89%...
After... I have installed many software on my device... and I dont know if one of them may interfere with the battery indicator.
The strange thing is the time with the battery meter refresh when I push on my device from the stand by... each time it ask again some second to display the exact quantity of battery residual.
Bye
Stefano
Isn't there any chance the next rom release might correct this 10% decay thing to a 5% decay or a realtime 1%?
I dont know... but, I would like understand if this problem affect all the Hermes200...
Bye
Stefano
So im trying to figure out where my battery is draining to... I cannot go a full day on a battery charge and its really annoying at night it jsut dies and plus i cant really do too much on it for fear of battery drainig itself. Is there a way.. i can check to see what might be taking up battery
Wifi off
GPS Off
no 3G in the US
Bluetooth Off
Push Mail off... (though am syncing 3 mail accounts every 2 hours... minimal mail though)
Internet usage 30 minutes (besides, weather stocks)
Phone usage .. about 60 minutes in the day
Gyrator on
General usage.. games, tinkering etc (60 minutes... hey its still relatively new)
Appreciate the input.
Strange..
I've got two mail accounts, talked for 15 minutes with a bluetooth headset (been connected all day).
From 06 in the morning until now at ten in the evening I still have 7 bars on the battery. (three in the TF3D)
Consider doing a hard reset and set up stuff and see if that helps..
After tinkering for a couple of weeks, I hard reset and just put back on what I want. I also used Tweak HD which has a few tweaks to lengthen battery life. It made a big difference to me.
Orinigally it had drained in about 18 hours, afterwards it went slightly over 40 hours.
this is strange - i use my phone alot and it easily lasts 2 days
have you tried replacing it? when i bought my first diamond it was faulty, replaced it and batteyr life changed
also try flashing a stock rom on again and see what happens - less than a day - defo not right!
diamond v hd
had 3 diamonds, battery was lucky to last 10hrs, ate 2680mA battery packs like jaws ate boats!
HD, charge 1 every 2 days.... huge improvement... would love it to last longer, but its a million times better than the diamond and thats all that matters...
HD battery life in conclusion, is great, and i do hammer my phone usage!
I'm seeing similar battery issues as the OP. I barely make it through a 12 hour day on a charge, although I get a lot of e-mail on 2 accounts (one checked every 15 minutes, the other every 2 hours). In an effort to track down battery drain, I downloaded and installed HomeScreen PlusPlus and find that at rest with screen intensity at 60% my HD draws 150 mA, with the screen dimmed at 10% it draws 70 mA, and in standby (blank screen) it's drawing 30 mA. When the data connection is active, it draws between 250-300 mA, and when using the phone with screen on about 400 mA. I figure that with those numbers and a 1350 mA battery, 10-12 hours is all I can expect. If anyone else is monitoring their battery draw, I would appreciate seeing your numbers for comparison.
Oooh this is a good idea...
anyone else done homescreen++ to find battery drainage.. im going to get to it this weekend...
Have the same issue.... I have nothing special installed and for some reason it drains very fast on basic features.....
Same issue here
Recently I've been getting less than 12 hours out of a full charge. I've uninstalled a few things and turned bluetooth and wifi off and today it seems better with about 80% left after 10 hours
Vaguely considering a hard reset if the problem continues...
have fixed certain aspects now using the new version of Tweak HD
For our benefit.. could you please tell us...
1) your version of Tweak HD
2) WHat did you do to improve battery life
Thanks
Progress
So I installed Homescreen++ to be able to monitor my battery utilization... and im averagin 150mA to 350mA with it being closer to 300mA most of the time... no wonder I am getting 10-12 hours of battery life.. and this is with the device not doing anything.. except cehcking mail accounts.. NOTHING else...
I really need help with this.. every night at around 9:00pm.. i am without battery and its driving me nuts...
short of a hard reset... what can I do to monitor what programs or processes are taking up my battery?
I really feel your pain. I must recharge during the day everyday. I've ordered a second battery, but it hasn't arrived yet. I've done all I can do with HD Tweak and Schap's Advanced Config, even turned the screen brightness down further to no avail. I don't want to hard-reset, but I'm going to give that a try this weekend. Before I do, If any of you experiencing good battery life has a few moments and is willing to install HomeScreen ++, please post your numbers to compare to ours (mine are in a previous post). The download link is:
http://www.chi-tai.info/cs_batterystatus_xda_neo_wm5_im_cs.htm#Download
It can easily be uninstalled through "Remove Programs" later.
Thanks in advance for your help; I am so enamored with this amazing device that I can't bear to give it up!
Battery life much better than my Kaisers...
Apparently Batti uses a lot of battery (ironically).
I've just replaced it with Ariel battery and will let you know how it goes:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=364278
I'm not running Batti.
I have been through an Apache, a Blue Angel, a Hermes and most recently a Kaiser before springing for this amazing Blackstone. All my previous devices made it through at least a full day before requiring a recharge.
My ROM is 1.14.405.3 and Radio is 1.09.25.14
I'm thinking of springing for the HD, I currently have a Hermes. Battery life is a major concern of mine, and on my Hermes I had to purchase a larger battery with the extended back plate.
Does the HD turn off the screen when not in use or is it on all the time? Also how does it do with WiFi on?

I've got the same problem of the battery draining... i've just installed the plug in to monitor the battery and it's showing me 450ma when using opera through gprs ...isn't it a lot?please let us know if the hard reset fixes the problem
thanks
Tonight's the night
Gonna hard reset the little fella
What about WCDMA/GSM/Auto? Which one is better for batteryusage?
So, my battery has never done great but it was lasting through 24 hours with 20-35% still left.
I recently changed to Dutty's 2.0 and S2U2 1.50d. Now, I left home yesterday at 6am, returned at 5pm and was down to 30% already!
I've uninstalled S2U2 and overnight, on very dummed down settings, it still dropped to 81%!
I did read on the S2U2 that some people had massive drain and even uninstalling didn't help. Unfortunately, both Dutty and S2U2 have massive long threads which make it very hard to find what you need and any requests are often lost in the avalanch of posts, so, can anyone suggest what has gone wrong?
I'll try putting S2U2 1.45 back on and see what happens.

Already a short thread regarding battery drain currently running. Your answer may be within this
Yeah, silly me I made this post and then found the other one on the second page of the forum.
Thanks.

Also this thread on battery drain may be useful
So i went with WP7 on the HD2 and love it.
The only issue i seem to have is the fact that the battery is draining pretty fast. It was full this morning and its only been 6 hours and its at what appears to be 30% (its hard to tell without percent icon)
I installed the xmod rom.
Is this normal? is there a fix? I see lots of things when i do search on registry fixes, but i dont know much, if anything about registry editing this rom nor what it means.
Any advice is apreciated.
Battery drainage is a common issue. You could try some regediting and see if that helps. Just search around the forum to find out how to do it.
Is this drainage going to screw up the battery? I have a spare, just prefer not to have to waste a good battery
On my phone I've found no difference with battery drainage...
check this out:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1041912
At the first release from DFT, i had a batterylifetime from 6 up to 7 hours as a maximum.
Now i will test a newer ROM, so i would tell ya!
Hey folks,
I got a question about the battery life of the Defy......when my phone is discharging it jumps from 62% to 50% and from 33 to 19%.
Is this a sign that the battery isn´t working properly ? So maybe I need a new one ?
Hope someone can help me.....
I also tried different roms and everytime I get this "problem".
Best Regards
If you switch between the ROM and does not at least 1 o 2 charge-discharge cycle, the battery will not calibrate...
Try calibrate with die hard battery calibrator when your charging the phone : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18703418&postcount=5021
this didnt change anything
still the drops:crying:
same here, I think my battery might be broken, will buy a new one next week. I will post if its ROM issue or my battery was damaged
would be fantastic if you could give me a short note:good:
Well, I've the same issue with 2 different ROM and 2 different batteries (the original and a new one which I buyed few weeks)...
weird....so nobody know how to solve this problem
bought a new battery today....let´s see

At default the phone received information from the batt by division of 10% and the software estimate the discharge. For some reason this estimation is eronate and the new batt value determine the system to recalculate the discharge and make those abrupt value. Anyway you can find in "general" thread a topic which resolve that situation.
