G-sensor rotation question: - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV Themes and Apps

Has any of you programmers considered disabling landscape mode when sliding out the keyboard? Maybe that is the problem, we (TP users) don't need that if the programs will work by disabling that.
Maby its that tiny little code inserted by HTC that prevents those programs working on the Touch Pro... maybe....

This is actually easily programmable.

I just said that so you know this can be made. Now it's up to the developper if he wants to include that feature or not. If you use GController and want its rotation feature to work like you described, post your suggestion in the GController thread and I will for sure have a look.

Setting GSen to exclude rotating today screen

Sorry for the load of newbie questions. Could not find an answer to this on google. Does anyone know to do this?
I found GSen to react buggy on my HD, sometimes would work, sometimes not. Recommend you to try the free Gyrator, where exclusion is very easy:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427805
Start - Programs - Gsen CFG
Make sure the file has a line like this:
#window(Manila)
and save the file. Other exclusions you may want are
#window(TEETER)
#window(opera)
#window(htcalbum)
#window(cprog.exe)
#window(youtube)
Gsen has been working fine for me.
#window(cprog.exe)

That's touchflo3d though isnt it? I want to exclude the windows mobile today screen. I disabled touchflo3d as it is limited in what it can do.
Any thoughts?
I know this is borderline bumping ;-) but I just wanted to say thanks for the tip on
#window(youtube)
That's an important one because if not, any movement (at least on my HD) will attempt to turn the video around and it gets lost in the process. I then end up with a video the size of my thumbnail.
Gyrator did not work on my HD. After installation, it just gave me an error. So, I use gsen and so far no problems (other than the youtube issue).
Being ex-UIQ3 and new to WinMob apologies if this is dumb. Have loaded GSEN which seesm to work fine except on the TouchFlo screens. Settings I need to alter perhaps?
does anyone have the GSEN cab file they can post here? ive been looking for 2 days and cant find it?????
many thanks
heres GSEN & Gyrator if anybody wants them

What version are you using that works well on your Treo Pro?
I tried the 1.37 version and it doesn't seem to work well at all on mine...
Thx
Well see that's the thing about s2u2. It works fairly well on most HTC devices....but not all. And likewise for other WM devices. Its more like a trial error kinda thing. If it works well on your particular device...your in luck...otherwise....your better off uninstalling it. Even though its reached version 1.37...there's no guarantee of it working on all WM devices. And of course the older versions have more bugs etc in 'em. Having said that....its still a really cool app nonetheless

I believe it, I'm just trying to figure out if it works well on the Treo Pro or not. Hopefully it's at least consistent across devices.

Wish that it could work on my Treo Pro. I downloaded the v 1.37, set up on the phone (not the memory card) and could not get it to work much at all....slow was always there, but hanging on occasion so that I would have to soft reset. Don't know if it is a conflict with this slider-type software and SPB Mobile Shell or something else... I did disable Keyguard in settings, but still the standard "push center key to unlock" would show up. Hmmm......
So, like you, I am looking forward to it working on the Treo Pro
Just came across this post. Tried 1.50d and it still doesn't work well on TP. Hangs when click on S2U2 Settings.
Sansnil: read your other post recommending Sunscape so will try and see if that fairs better.

Easy & Effective lock ?

Hey guyz,
I've been searching on this forum and others on the net and i can't find a useful, stupid simple lock.
Anything simple like lock when sleeping and unlock when waking without any extra options like S2U2 will do.
How come it isn't already in X1... shame.
Any idea ?
Thanks...
USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION !
There are multiple threads regarding this on XDA.....
My fav is :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=386451
im trying to write my own locker. but it is very hard to learn c++ : )
personally i used slideaction and s2u2 combination.. but if you dont like s2u2 just use slideaction, set the x1 to lock and off when it slider is closed, then unlock it when it is open. s2u2 also can unlock when u change orientation, so i just let s2u2 handles that while slideaction handles the only the switch off screen part..

Thanks !! TL seems great. I'll give it a try.
Well finally tried them all and uninstalled them.
Some are not compatible with alarms clocks and I was worried it crashes my alarm and make me go late to work and others were turning off my phone too soon (S2U2 shuts down my screen after 3 secs... wtf ?).
So I'm back to square one !

Slide to unlock - But not S2U(2)

I'm looking for a slide-to-unlock solution for my X1. It should NOT come with any additional features (as S2U2 unfortunately does). I don't need to lock it for incoming calls, my phone software does this by itself. I only need an app which will lock the device on wakeup so I have to slide to unlock. Nothing more and nothing less. The best thing would be a Today-plugin.
One more question: If such a software does not exist, how hard would it be to create one? I am an experienced programmer in VB, JavaScript and PHP, so I don't think I would have to learn a lot. The question is just whether the process of locking/unlocking the phone and capturing the wakup-event etc. is actually easy to program. I don't want to write more than 50 lines of code for this and it has to work very well with that. Do you think this is possible?

As I don't know how screen slides are registered, I'm not 100% sure, but I can't imagine it'd need more than 100 lines.
Things you have to keep in mind that it has to be full-screen, always on top, locking hardware buttons as well etc.
If you manage to get this to work, I'd be very much obliged, as I'm looking for the exact same thing!
My advice: Make it semi-transparant and add an easy to modify image (png) that tells you to slide, which turns from red to green when you're set and then disappears.
I recommend making it fullscreen slide, the way lockmelite does, but then with the image added.
Nice to know that I'm not the only one looking for it
So you would propose a transparent fullscreen app? I would prefer using the Windows-lock, but I think once it's in, the only way to unlock is through the standard procedure. Can anyone confirm this? What other ways are there to lock the touchscreen? Is there a way to keep a transparent windows always on top? And an easy function to lock the hw-keys? Would you just set up a sort of hook and don't pass the keypress event? Is there a way to ensure that the event will not be passed on to other apps such as AEButtons? I really need some serious information on this before I start reading tutorials and organizing compilers etc.
simple screen lock that works
I came across this app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=419525
Works well, I had to set "on call unlolck" and switch of it's "slide to answer" function to prevent issues with my current ROM.
works a charm on my X1 using TouchIT 4.5 !
tried a few others out, but all had one or another issue. For more, search for "screen lock" in main forum search.
(edit) although free needs simple monthly renewal of registration keygen

Yeah, first monthly registration sucks and I don't like the software. I've had it installed twice and I'm not satisfied (R2A ROM though). Performance is bad, many mismatches because of this. Application always comes in to protect, for example at boot - but it's completely useless because you can blast it away if you know enough to install it in the first place. deifnitely a no-go for me.

I think it might be alot harder then you imagine. Programming in PHP is very, very easy. The best option is probably try to find one of the eary s2u2 cabs. Maybe A_C has some tips for you
For Dev... MSDN may have the answer
If you are looking for examples of how to program the slide yourself, there's a good sample on codeproject:
http://www.codeproject.com/KB/mobile/IPhoneUI.aspx
It's written in C#.NET but if you can program VB.NET you should be able to read through and vaguely understand what's going on.
The sample is an iPhone clone UI, not just the slide-to-unlock bit and I think the sample is QVGA. Either way, its better than having to work it all out from scratch ;o)
I've been meaning to write something similar but unfortunately life isn't giving up the time at the moment. If I get around to it I'll post it on XDA for everyone else to enjoy!

Damn, this program is nice!
I always have problems with S2U2 because it's slow, often incoming calls messes the screen so I'm not able to answer and sometimes the color depth of the screen changes to approx. 5 colors after unlocking and only a softreset helps.
PocketShield seems to be cut to the essential: locking and unlocking.
I'll try it a bit more

It does, but with not all of its features. PocketShield has 3 essential ways to unlock: light, slide and gestures.
X1 does not have a G-sensor, so gestures unlock won’t be available.
It does has a light sensor but apparently it is very difficult for 3rd apps to access it, so light unlock will neither be available.
Only “slide to unlock” will work. And due to this a special deal has been made for the Xperia community… You might be interested: http://www.pocketshield.net/Xperia

Thanks Pri (my personal search assistant),
I found that and the control panel addon. What I'm wondering is it used as default in the Maple/Willow?
Specifically I wonder because I've noticed the rendered type in some programs (Skyfire, IE, etc) is not as clear as others. I'm curious - if ClearType is on, would this be an issue with the various apps or if it's not active, would it be an issue that ClearType could resolve.

Hey guys,
When I try to add the ClearType key, I get a "Access Is Denied" prompt. Is there anyway around this? I'm using the Snap unlocked international version btw...
Thanks.
